Change text and notification backgrounds - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can I change my texting back ground so when I open a text the background is black instead of white?? Also can I get my notifications to be clean instead of white?

I'm sure there has to be a way to do this

I use chompSMS, it lets you change the backgrounds for the conversation and the conversation list. Handcent works the same, if you want to try those.

I'm not sure how I feel about them although my battery is dying a lot slower without the white background (I think) I'd like handset a lot more if I could have the icon for it... I think the stock icon just looks better. Can I change icon and name?

Changing the background is probably just an image file in the MMS.apk that you can edit the color you want in. only problem is the text is black, meaning you will have to edit an .xml file which is a much longer and difficult process.

Ok I switched texting apps I just wanna change the pull down notification color now

Theme help?

How would I go about changing the color of the battery icon, 3g icon and everything else in the notification bar and notification area in a theme I didn't build?
Or change the entire color scheme of a finished theme?

You'll need the framework-res.apk. Open it with winrar or 7zip, navigate to /res, and drag the folder drawable-hdpi to your desktop or wherever. Inside there you'll find a lot of images that you may or may not want to alter. Once altered, go back to that framework-res.apk that you have opened but not altered, delete the matching .png, and simply drag your altered .png into the archive. That's the simplest way to make changes, as decompiling/recompiling a themed framework usually yields issues.
Edit....

Just so you know, the notification icons for messaging and email and stuff are in the apks themselves. If you need any help let me know.
Yeah it took me a little while and then I was like oh wait you can look inside apks with winrar and I found the res folder so im coloring everything right now.... so .... many..... files.... its gonna take a while.... could I take maddoggin's 6 lock screen mod and just drop it in the theme or is there some files I would have to change first to accomplish this

[Q] theme help?

Im modifying a theme and I was wondering how can I make the edges of icons transparent....
for example, when I tried to color the phone icon in the slider on the aosp lockscreen, the icon became a square instead of a circle and didn't fit inside the slider.... HELP
Thank you in advance....

Assuming you're using GIMP, just make the area you want transparent one solid color, then highlight the area of the image you don't want transparent, , press ctrl+i (to invert the selection you made, so that the area you want to turn transparent is now selected) then click on colors, color to alpha, and choose the solid color you wanted to make transparent, then click okay. The color should now appear as a checkerboard image, and, more importantly, will be transparent when you view it on the phone.
Thank you so much..... this has been boggling my mind all week....

I've been looking for a Wordfeud icon that matches these MetroStation icons. Preferably in white.
Thanks
I second that ;-)

How's this?
Grab the first image, its all white
Perfect. Thanks a lot
With the phone on the dash the 3G & 4G icons are so fine one needs to do more than just glance.
I need anything better. Just a bold 4 without the G would be OK with me.
Thanks
I would like an icon set that was themed as the periodic table of the elements.
Im not sure if some made this or can help me put but the green SMS app icon I would like to change the color, thank u in advanced

I like the inverted messaging apps. In the mms he darkened the MMS icon. The people app is work in progress but workng fine. The Gmail is done.
Have a look. There are links to the apps in my sig.
Some of the users wanted the green back so if her changed it and you want the version with the black one PM me.
Honestly, I know I'm not the only one that has thought if this, but if one if the icons was a weed leaf.... I bet you'd get alot of downloads and really blow ppl away with the freedom of open source.

Changing Lockscreen icons

I am looking at getting rid of the color on the lockscreen, so would like to change the icons on the stock lockscreen. I would guess I need to drop a PNG file in somewhere, just no clue where. Can someone help out or let me know an easier way? Thanks. PS I am Running Jedi XP12
The icons in the lock screen are dependent on the apps you have set up. So, for instance, if you want to change the messaging icon you will need to change the icon in the SecMms.apk. Using 7zip, you can navigate to the icon. They are usually found in the mipmap folder and banned something like ic_launcher_mms.
Hope that helps
As for the color on the lock screen, not sure what you mean there.

LOL, was on it, And will be back as soon as the home button issue is resolved. It was happening to me more than just from the app draw. Small issue that would not bother a lot of people, but I constantly use it.

Battery widget reborn

Does anyone use this? I just downloaded it and I think it's great although I can't seem to find out if I can change the notification icon color.
I only get the default blue, green, and a number. Is there a way to edit this like the widget itself? I would like to change it to red.
