having issue with com.android.mms - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

im getting FC on com.android.mms so i thought that running "Fix Permissions" in rom manager would fix it but this only results in "An error occurred while attempting to run privileged commands"
the odd thing is that this behavior only shows when i receive a mms, it delivers one mms but then one or two additional empty mms's from a unknown address well that's what it says in the notification bar, arrives stating that it could not retrieve the mms's
i completely wiped 4 times, everything and flashed leedroid latest build last night and that still didnt resolve it.
now im completely stuck

A little more info would help. e.g
what rom are you running.
sense or stock?

Moved to Q&A as not development.

[Q] Need Help/SMS errors

I am fairly new to rooting and so far it has gone well except for one error i cannot seem to get around.
whenever i try to send an SMS message over 1 page (MMS?) it will not send and i will get an error saying message could not be sent, in message details it will give me the reasoning as error code 34. the error originally occured in MIUI 12.24 so i flashed CM6.1 after wiping cache and data and found the same issue there. I then tried flashing a new kernel which was CM6 stable and the latest radio available for the EVO version 2.15.00.09.01 on top of the roms thinking that it would fix itself but i am still now having the same issue.
any one have any ideas on fixes at all? i have tried searching xda and miui dev app but cannot seem to land on a fix. any help would be greatly appreciated.

[Q] Syndicate Frozen ROM - 2 Errors showing up

I am running the following:
Model Number:SPH-D700
Firmware Version: 2.2.1
Baseband Version: S: D700.0.5S.EC05
Kernel Version:2.6.32.9
Build Number: SRF 1.1.0/TwilightZone 1.1.0
Hardware Version: D700.0.5
I to had the same problem when installing:
"""I got the "$" when I typed in "adb shell" and superuser did show up in the app drawer, so I assumed it took, despite the error I received in cmd."""
However, when I click on an application within the SuperUser app, it gives me the following error: "The application Superuser (process com.noshufou.android.su) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again." (with a "Forceclose" button)
I also get this error when a incoming call happens and sometimes with text msgs.
"The application Google services Framework(process com.google.process.gapps) has stopped unexpectedly." (With a Forceclose button)
How can I fix these problems? I'm a newbie to all of this, but I'm pretty quick with tech stuff. ... help!
Try reflashing your Kernel by itself through clockwork.
I recently encountered this issue when going to syndicate 1.1.1
For some reason, the Twilight Kernel wasn't flashing properly (or it is not included in the rom itself ) and everything superuser/root related was force closing causing all sorts of issues.
I flashed the Twilight Kernel again, and then in the about page, kernel said Twilight, and now everything works well.
EDIT - Nevermind, it doesn't say Twilight as the Kernel version, but for some reason it worked for me to reflash it.
CW re-flash worked - Contacts?
I did as you said and went into CW and re-flashed the ROM. Everything seems to be running great. However, I'm wondering if importing my contacts is what screwed my ROM up?
Are there any known problems with loading Contacts with custom ROM's?
Specifically Syndicate Frozen ROM?

I havent read anything through the SRF thread about importing contacts messing anything up.
You may want to post ROM specific problems in their threads so this way the Devs and people that might be experiencing the same problems as you can chime in on
FORCE CLOSE CAME BACK! Dangit!

After using the phone for a few phone calls the problem came back...
What can I do from here?
Will it screw things up worse if I try the entire process over again? (Root and ROM)
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I don't know when you downloaded the ROM but the updated the DL link to include the Kernel. I would suggest dling just the Kernel and try flashing that in CWM (Not the ROM, but the KERNEL).
If that doesn't work I would try flashing a different Kernel, either the Genocide or Vision 1.1.
If it still doesn't work then you will have to ask the impaler about it as he know way more than myself about this.

my text message alerts suddenly stopped working two days ago. i would have to reboot my phone to get the alerts working again. the next day the alerts will stop working again and i have to reboot, ive been doing this for a while and its getting to the point where its becoming a problem. my cpu is stock speed and radio is stock, just root and cm7. is this a common issue and is there a fix for it?

I've never heard about anyone having this problem. I'd wait until alerts stopped working again, then check SMS settings to see if any of the settings somehow got changed. If they remain unchanged, I'd perform a cache wipe, dalvik cache wipe (multiple times for both) and reboot the phone.
If that doesn't work, nandroid backup, wipe data, cache, and dalvik (multiple times) and re-flash the ROM. Other than that, I can't think of anything else that would help. Good luck!
Same thing happened to me..first make sure youre profiles arent conflicting with the system settings, then make sure you have a match with ruu (which is what fixed mine)

i checked the profiles and all the settings are set to no override for the text messages. whats the ruu?
Perhaps your SMS app is being dumped due to low memory. You could give this a try...

Cleared Notifications keep returning

I have unlocked my bootloader and rooted my phone. Still running stock 2.2.1. Seems that about one month again I noticed that intermittently all of the previous notifications will return. I can clear them and they will stay gone for a while but will return later in the day. Also noticed that super user has begun to give me a "stopped unexpectedly" error. This seemed to start about the same time as the notification problem. Don't know if the 2 are connected. I've tried to do a search but did not find anything about the notification problem. This is forcing me to think about getting off my butt to install a custom ROM. Any suggestions before installing a custom ROM?

The newest update of super user is causing many issues, suggested not to update.
I have superuser versions 2.3.6.1 and 2.3.6.3. I will try a reinstall of 2.3.6.1.
If still have problems then will try 2.3.6.3. Will not allow an ugrade until I see a newer version than the one out now.
Thanks

[Q] MIUI rooted Desire randomly restarts

So, I have HTC Desire with rooted MIUI rom for a while.
HTC Desire, GSM, MIUI 2.1.6
It was okay until 5th January. I have about 25 installed apps and anything was fine. Few days ago I noticed strange "Force stop" in apps like Twitter, Foursquare, Internet Browser.
Then the same started to happen with random restarts of the phone. The phone simply started, then restarted and entered into bootscreen loop, so I ejected battery and inserted and so on. Clearing Dalvik Cache doesn't help.
Also when I try to enter Wi-Fi settings it freezes and gives out "Force close application?" That's just ridiculous!
I have lately updated from previous MIUI version 2.1.4 because that problem started there, but with no changes.
Can you please help here?
i have always faced similar issues with MIUI , my phone doesnt like it
so i have simply stopped using it
edit: if you still want to use MIUI id suggest you stick with a stable version for a while rather than weekly updates
Well, it really might be like that. Seems like I fixed those issues by doing a full phone wipe and fresh flash. Which release can you suggest me?
Wich releases did you try before ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have MIUI on mine and flash each update. The biggest issue I have is that it tries to update and always fails with an E:\SDCard error in recovery. I just download and then flash the full rom (no wipes) and it works a treat. The one issue I have with 2.16 is that SMS messages disappear below my 'Better Keyboard' where they didn't in the version prior. I've switched to Android keyboard now but have yet to see if the issue persists. That said, it is by far the most stable ROM I've ever used and I'm running 40+ apps on it with zero problems.

As far as it is, it looks fine. No big problems at all. The only issue is that I backed up 5000+ messages back to phone, I like to store them there. Sometimes seems like it is a little hard for android to hold so many sms's.
