Go into recovery mode and wipe dat and cache. Then flash the new ROM.
Hope this helps.

hi
I´ve rooted and flashed my desire several times. rooted with unrevoked3 everytime and tried different roms like leedroid 2.2d, 2.2 f and rcmixhd 0.13. First time i did it i flashed leedroid 2.2d and it worked fine. After 1,5 months running leedroid my phone rebooted due to the overheating problems that 50 % of us suffer from (i rebooted it manually several times during those months and it worked until this day).
It got stuck at the bootupscreen with white background and green HTCtext. couldn´t install RUU via windows, had to grab the PB99IMG.zip onto my SD and boot into bootloader and restore my phone this way. Then i rooted it AGAIN, and flashed rcmixhd 0.13. Success! But only until i rebooted it manually, stuck at bootupscreen again.
I restored the phone from SD with pb99img as earlier. Flashed rcmixhd again and made sure i wiped everything (dalvik, cache, formatted sdcard and created a EXT), success! Until i rebooted my desire...back again.
Now im running stock non-rooted froyo. I´m getting tired of spending the night fixing it but i still want to use senseHD and i like tweaking stuff..
Do any of u guys recognize this problem and what can i do to fix it?
If any of you are from sweden, plz answer in swedish!
Same problem here, the only way i got to install a custom rom was by installing update-cm-6.1.0-Desire-signed.zip. Then installed a custom rom by using the "Rom Manager" tool.
Downloading and flashing through recovery mode, "No, can do!"
Ok, but "update-cm-6.1.0-Desire-signed.zip" isn´t that a custom ROM? Did you install that through ROM manager?
And did you flash another ROM on top of it?

yes this is a custom rom, i did a normal flash first to "update-cm-6.1.0-Desire-signed.zip" (some how that worked???). Then i reflashed through the "ROM manager" tool.
Do you remember to always wipe everything in Recovery before flashing a new rom?
Seems like I always used to have a bootloop or bootfreeze when did not do the proper wipe.

i wiped everything even the Dalvik Cache, didn't help a thing.
Could is be that is has something to do with rom's that are not signed?
I have this same problem now, any possible sollutions?
Perdonally i would suggest to reformat your sd cards and try again. Dont forget to wipe everything.

What to do is, Turn of the phone take out battery do the neccessary wipes and formatting,
root
install clockwork mod from market, go to it and choose install recovery
install rom
install kernel (might affect it somehow)
reboot
I rooted my phone in March everything worked fine. It's shows s-off. I Was able to do a backup and install the MIUI rom. I didn't like it so I went back to the stock rom. Now over a month later I wanted to try a rom again. Everytime I'm in hboot it load and say pc36img is not found when i click recovery it don't load at all. Any help would be needed.

Have you tried to re-install recovery? I flashed to stock, and recovery was removed from my system, so I had to reinstall it.
Easiest way to do it is through ROM Manager from the market.
I did have rom manager installed and uninstalled it because I thought it was what messed up recovery. But reinstalled it an now it worked. Thanks alot

Ok so I had to exchange my dinc2 and when new one I did the update not knowing what was what. well I ended up going to the HTC dev site and unlocking it. the downgrade thing did not work at all... I ended up just manually flashing cmw through fastboot and was able to get my recovery... I then flashed su. from recovery and it loos like I got rooted...
OK.... no i tried flashing 2 different roms... one was the MIUI I originally had. the other was carbonite cm7... both have just sat there with the HTC logo for like 10 min before I just did a battery pull and restored....
couple questions...
1: I dont remember it taking so long for the roms to load before.. any thoughts?
2: am I not rooted?
You need to flash the boot.img manually
Go to this page on how to do it
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1435228
You are Rooted. If you were not rooted, You would NOT have been able to flash CWM recovery.
Did you wipe Data (Factory Reset) & Dalvik Cache before you flashed MIUI ???
everything working fine now after manually did the boot.img thanks
After installing Cyanogenmod 9 on the One X I started to notice extremely poor signal, Mobile and Wi-Fi. Also the phone would crash and randomly reboot when doing simple tasks such as opening messages etc.
Upon trying to get into recovery to install a different rom, the phone now flashes on a black screen and restarts the phone.
To try and solve this issue, I unrooted the phone and restored to stock recovery.
I then re-rooted the phone and installed clockworkmod recovery again.
I can now access clockworkmod recovery although it seems to have no effect. Installations of any rom fail and cyanogenmod always pops straight back up again after rebooting.
Has anyone else had this issue?
Does anyone have a way to fix this? Possibly to force the phone completely back to stock?
You can try first "SuperWipe" (from ARHD's thread) and flash a new ROM (don't forget boot.img before...)

Unfortunately I can't help you with SuperWipe, but you can find the HOX stock ROMs here.

Ran superwipe and tried to install the stock rom. Superwipe ran fine and did the job, although the rom installation still failed as it was doing before and I am now stuck with a htc bootloop. The device won't boot into recovery either. Any ideas anyone?

Did you try holding down the Power and Volume Down buttons while in the bootloop to enter the bootloader? Hold them down until the lights start to flash, the screen goes off and then the bootloader comes up.
If you can get into recovery with that, factory reset, clear cache and dalvik cache (under advanced) then try install the ROM.
I'm not the best person to be helping, but I hope that works for you!
I had a similar problem once where the phone would just sit on the HTC One X screen, and trying to go into recovery just put the phone back to the HTC screen. I fixed it by flashing the boot.img, factory reseting, clearing out caches and installing the ROM again. No problems since.
I'm afraid if this doesn't work, I may have to abandon you and let someone else take over, as I'm no expert, but I'll see what I can do to help.
Edit: sorry, it is 2AM here and I need some rest for an early start at 6AM. I will check up on this thread when I wake.

FIXED!!!
To anyone else having this problem, I downloaded ARHD Flashboot 7.0.0 and ARHD 7.0.0, followed the instructions on what to do and installed ARHD successfully.
This has now completely gotten rid of Cyanogenmod and seems to have got clockworkmod working again.
It's probably work using the "Fix Permissions" option in ROM manager before you attempt this as I believe that is what got clockworkmod working and able to install files again. (I may be wrong)
Thankyou for everyone's assistance.

Help, I will describe the following and any help I would love. I have the PRIMOC VM usa HTC ONE V.
Using Hasoon2000's All in one toolkit I have successfully Unlocked my phone, flashed TWRP recover 2.4.4, got root, and made a backup.
I then continue on to wipe cache and system and Factory reset to prepare to install ANY ROM. When I try to install the rom every time it just says Error in /sdcard/...[wherever rom is] (Status 1) FAILED
So then I proceed to restore my backup (this is why you always make a backup) and that works fine
Does the "(Status 1)" mean anything important?
I thought this was happening because I was running the newer radio so I used the RUU tool and now am using the good radio (not 0928) But this did not fix anything. This same thing happens over again. I have checked to make sure and I do have full root privileges.
I then tried to flash boot.img first and jmz kernel flashed successfully, but no rom will flash.
Why will NO ROM install?
I feel like I am missing something obvious but can't figure it out.
Also, whenever I do the factory restore it goes through all the process then fails when trying to wipe sd:ext , but my card is not partitioned. <I didn't know if that would be any help>
I am not a complete newb at all of this (running lg optimus for years- just new to the htc methods)
NEED Help please...
Can anyone help me out with this?
I have not made any progress since yesterday. I am successful at flashing kernels, I have flashed the boot.img of the sic kernel, but on both kernels I have no WiFi with the stock ROM.
So I either need to find the stock boot.img or have help flashing a ROM that fails everytime.
When every instruction says "Extract ROM" that is only to pull out the boot.img right, we don't flash an extracted package you flash exactly what you downloaded right?

Hi Obeezy562,
my advice is to use the recovery program CMW or TWRP to re-format your external SD card. Then follow the normal instrutions and install the rom from zip using your recovery program. If you still have the same issue just let me know and I'll ponder longer.
regards

Ok, so tonight I will reformat my sdcard with TWRP then try to install the ROM. I tried the CWM recovery, but it was not touch based and did not respond to the power button as the OK, only the volume rocker worked.
I will try CWM recovery if someone can provide a link to the latest one, perhaps I was using an old one.
Twrp 2.4.4 I've also had issues with flashing some roms then downgraded to Twrp 2.2.0 and everything has been well since

I can add that twrp 2.4 does have some issues. I use a cwm I found on google somewhere and if works just fine.
