Ok guys I finally found the perfect sequence to replacing the very buggy HTC Messaging client. I won't be online all the time to answer your questions directly so I'm just gonna try to explain the steps as clearly as possible.
*TRY THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK. I HAVE DONE THIS ON MY MINI WITHOUT ANY HARMFUL EFFECTS WHATSOEVER SO IF YOU MANAGE TO BRICK YOUR DEVICE DON'T BLAME ME.
Steps have been tried under TomPhoton 1.2 WWE build 23128
1. Install Zenyee Disable HTC Messaging 1.2
2. Restart device when asked.
3. Install SMS at hand v3.0.3820 (Can't post file. Just google it.)
4. Start using your new SMS interface.
NOTE: SMS at hand does not work with HTC's Messaging client.
For best results disable Sense annd use SPB Mobile Shell 3.5.5. It's much lighter for the phone.

i'm actually looking into it. right now i'm using spb mobile shell 3.5.5 since sense gobbles up a lot of memory.

First of all thank you very much for your reply You do have an HD mini right? I've tried 3 different versions of Arcsoft mms and none of them worked. I couldn't send or receive mms. Can you please tell me which version have you installed? Thank you in advance

I have ArcsoftMMSComposer 5_0_31_16.cab installed.
I know there are newer version but this works for me, I never tried those newer versions.
My ROM is lasted official wwe rom

I have arcsoft 3.5.1.5 but as OEM for cooking in the ROM. But I have noticed that 3.5.1.5 has a major problem. It stores an incoming MMS in a folder called "New". The message gets transfered to "Inbox" only after it is read. As a result the notification which used to come so far in the messaging (today plugin) or any other today plugin (like SPB diary,PB or any other) does not come. Thats why I have come back to 3.0.7.19.

currently i have arcsoft 3.0.0.32 and i found and downloaded 3.0.7.6. when i tried to install it, the installation was unsuccessful. do you have any idea what is wrong with it?

Uploading issues. You have to simply download all three and run winrar. They shall join to become one automatically...

I've got 3.5.1.5 installed but how do I configure for my account? Seems to be quite different from 3.0.1.16

Nope...something dodgy with my 3.5.1.5 installation I think. I can click on the MMS a million times but it doesn't bring me to a config screen. Quite unlike v3.0.16.6.

The one from WM6 you mentioned is not really complete. I give you one Jeyo SMS Backup installer which you have to install onto device memory and make the utility appears in Messaging menu also.
What exactly does it add to the Messaging Menu?
Would it be worth doing a full implimentation in the Rom or is having the .exe enough?

Having the EXE is plenty I would imagine. ****, we're lucky you're embedding that (in my opinion)!

The shotrcut to the features of making Backup/Resotring the SMSes. It's better for the stand alone installer as it give it's full features but the shortcut you'd integrated in the WM6 menu is enough for the task really.

i have chained sms here.. i like it to be saved as chained sms (all sms from one contact in one section alongwith my replies to him/her) i want to save it on my pc to read laterz too in txt file.. any software plz to help me get the sms backup in text file? preferably in chained sms format.

alas i installed it in my universal running on 6.1 and the result.. when i click on Text Message: 1 Unread
it doesnt even open the Messages section.. all other programs are working well.. even from Start menu it does nothing on clicking Messaging.. Situation is the same even after uninstalling this software..

I have an AT&T 8525, and when I click for messaging, it lists the following accounts: Text Messages Outlook E-Mail, and that's it.
It used to have MMS there too.
I'm not sure what to do to get it back. I have Arcsoft MMS composer installed, but I can't get it to send/recieve mms.

The one I have probably doesnt.
Faria-R32 / Dr Puttingham WM6.1 HERMES ROM-CUSTOM+CLEAN but I have the clean edition.
if it doesnt have MMS, how do I unlock it?
download arcsoft mms, im sure if you search its here somewhere...
Get your MMS working again after you have flash a new 6.1 rom

You dont have to unlock it just install this cab:
By the way for anyone else who is still having issues with MMS all you have to do is install the cab and rerun the Connection setup on your pda that is localed in start/setting/connections and your all set.

It probably does not have a working MMS package. Look for a different ROm or search for Arcsoft MMS cabs and install to see if it helps. Use search per the link below in my signature!

is ur mms already cooked in the rom
r you installed it from a cab file
if u anstalled it from a cab file
then run your connection setup again
after installing the MMS cab file.

Not sure if this is relevent, but you might also need the MMS settings for your provider.
No ROM which I have installed so far has automatically found the MMS settings. I've had to search, download and install a .cab file which is specific to my network.
If the rom you have has the settings wizard cooked in (generally in connections settings) then run that AFTER the Arcsoft cab has been installed... That should fix your problem...

U need Arcsoft MMS
i've uploaded the device update.
install the cab file and download the software u need..
u shud get a hold of HTC connection wizard which automatically configures your connection.. great application
and download arcsoftmms too.
but u have to configure the mms options in the messaging menu and choose the server.
the connection wizard might configured the server for you. or you have to create a new one manually according to your telco.

im back lol, arcsoft mms is totally configured, but i only see an mms sending option, how exactly do i receive mmses?
go to your message box click on the menu and into MMS options.
go to the servers tab.
you should see your operator server there if u had the HTC connection wizard ran.
just set the settings to default.
if the settings isnt there, u'll have to configure the settings manually. try search for the operator settings on google by typing "operator name" mms server settings.

I am sorry for my very late response. I still can't find the program in Device Update. I've tried to search for a .cab but this is like warez because normally it is baked into the ROM, I have a lite ROM now without MMS app. I don't think this is why MMS app is not listed because I have had a ROM before without MMS (at least I think), then MMS was listed in DU.
Kind of confusion to me.
I just checked and it is listed under system.
Getting more strange now:
Device Update:
Error loading catalog.
Check Internet Connectivity and try again
Nothing changed and wifi is working for all other progs.
So dont use it! if it dont works, is not the only way to get it... Btw the topic is mms on 6.1 no CRCDU issues.

Yes totally offtopic, I am sorry for that. The problem was client side by the way. I did a hardreset and internet is working correctly now. But...more strange: all of a sudden ArcSoft MMS Composer 4.2.8.1 is installed...must be something wrong with the original install...
Well...my case fixed. Other persons will manage with the search tags + Que PPC gave haha.
