[Q] New Tilt 2 ROM question... - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Windows Mobile General

Is there a way to add more program shortcut tabs on the new ROM home screen? I have looked through the threads and have not found any thing I would recognize along this line. If I didn't look far enough or just missed what I was looking for please kind and help with a link or directions.
Thanks.

If you are using Co0kie's Home Tab, from the home screen, tap Menu > CHT Editor > Quicklink settings. In there, you can change the grid layout to show more links per page as well as increasing the number of pages up to five.

I'm using the ROM update from htc.

Update to .NET Compact Framework 3.5.
Make sure to install to device and not storage card. You'll then need to restart, if it doesn't ask you to do so, and force it to use 3.5 over 2.0. Use a registry editor and navigate to HKLM/Software/Microsoft/.NETCompactFramework. Change the DWORD data of entry 2.0.7045.00 from 1 to 0. Then change the DWORD data of entry 3.5.7283.00 from 0 to 1 and then reset. This disables 2.0 and enables 3.5.
For a decent registry editor that can be used from the PC side, check out CERegEditor if you don't already have an editor of choice.

How to disable the today backgroundchanging?

Hey,
I want to disable the function to change the today background.
You find it --> Start -> Settings --> Today -> Use this picture...
I want to disable the text AND the Button "Find" - so that the customers cannot change the logo.
I don't find the right key in the registry.
I use Windows Mobile 6 with the latest HTC Flash.
Who can help me?
Thanks and best regards from Germany.

No ideas?
because i've got two other problems.
1.) I want to delete the entries in the list of installed programs. So that the user cannot delete the program. Is it possible? Or can I protect it with password?
2.) We created a background logo, at the bottom it is white.
When the menu has got more than 5 entries you can not read the menu well.
Because white font over white background.
Is it possible to restrict the entries of last used applications to X entries ?
Even if there IS a way to do these things...
...it's quite evident, even from the site on which you're posting, that you will not be able to lock down such changes. Anyone who is so motivated will be able to get past anything you do, simply by flashing a new ROM, if not by other means, dontchathink?
-pvs
simple answer, you cant.
Actually, it would be semi-possible. Jasjamming had a bug in an early Black edition where he baked in his background rather than had it running in the initial setup. End result was you could change your background in the menus but it couldn't change what you saw as the backdrop files were marked as "ROM" so couldn't be changed.
The only way to install a program without it showing in the Remove Programs list is to bake it into your custom ROM installed on the phone.
However, when you've gone to the time & effort of making this ROM that cannot be customised, what's going to stop someone using a ROM from this site instead of yours, or using the tools here to modify your ROM and remove out the bits you've tried to lock down?
My advice? Don't try to lock anything down on your phone! The beauty of Windows Mobile it's ability to be improved & personalised. Let it run free!
Hi,
the problem with the list of installed programs isn't a problem anymore
I made a ROM with the ROM Kitchen und put the cab File into the ROM.
My first solution was to delete the uninstaller from the CAB with WinCE CAB Manager. But i want also to change the colors of the menu and things like that, so i made an own ROM.
So, you are right, the users could use programs from here, but, we want to "brand" the phone with our company logo, because the users should be awake that the phone is a COMPANY Phone and not a private toy
So now my last two problem are, that our company logo at the bottom is on a white ground and the menu has got a white font color. So i want to change the number of menu items or i want to change the color.
Does anybody knows the concerning files for the colors in the ROM?
The second is to disable the possibility to change the wallpaper.
It would be great if someone could tell me which files i have to change.
Thanks a lot and best wishes from Germany
sErPeNz
The problem with the start menu i solved with Tweak UI.
But the problem with the possibility to change the background is still existing.
Where i have to look? In the registry? In the files?
Its only a windows, it must be possible to change this option...
Finally found the post I was remembering where someone had accidentally set a theme permanently.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1252607&postcount=276
The theme was usually set during the initial customisation following the first boot up, but in this case JasJamming had tried to save this step by baking it into the ROM - with the result that you couldn't change theme. Sorry I can't give you any more info on how it happened (don't know!) but JJ or someone else on here with a bigger brain than me should be able to help.
Hey Stu,
thanks for your answer.
But i have allready only one theme. The problem is that the users can change the 'today-background' easily. Our company logo wouldnt be on the background.
I think this is a forum with a lot of pros! But the right one has to find my thread, please
That's exactly what I'm talking about. Use your theme on a phone, copy out the stwater and tdywater files, then cook these into your ROM and flash onto the phone. As the stwater and tdywater files are set as "ROM" the today-background changer won't be allowed to over-write them so the user will not actually be able to change the background - hence your company logo will always be there.
Good luck, and don't forget to change the start-up screens too - maybe a nice portrait shot of the Managing Director?

Opera Mobile

Hi all
I have a couple of problems with Opera Mobile and I was wondering whether anybody knows a solution. Firstly I can't seem to enable Opera to open more than two tabs at a time, which I find annoying. Secondly, does anybody know how to enable flash from websites within Opera? I did notice that this question had been asked before but that there wasn't an answer. I've installed the Flash 3.1 which was taken from a 207XX build of WM6.1. Should I install the official Flash Lite 3.1 Distributable instead? I understood that this was a stand alone player.
Despite my signature I'm using the HTC TP2 with a stock WWE ROM from HTC Europe.
Cheers

Opera Mobile 9.7 open beta should be out tomorrow (Monday).
If you can, please install it and let us know how tabs & flash work?
I think that's just a rumour. No official confirmation.

To change the number of tabs
From within opera go to
opera:config
select User Prefs
Maximum Tabs - choose your preference
Then scroll down to "Save"
Hope that helps.
to watch flash vids with opera(embedded videos) you need to add text string to axobjects.ini(axobjects). i have done it and it works. you need to go to app data,opera9 and use a text editor and enter this string of text:
go here in file explorer - \Application Data\Opera\axobjects.ini to support flash
CODE:
[Shockwave Flash]
Allow=Url|Embed|Object|Scripts

hmmmmmmmmm very strange as it works with all versions of opera. what text editor did you use. you need to go to app data-opera9 and edit file axobjects with a text editor. enter the text string for shockwave player as is. i usually put it in the middle of all the text. also have you installed dvhaflashlite 3.1 as that one works best

Yes, I found this; it would keep ignoring the setting, or reset it. Eventually my TP2 decided that it would use more tabs, after a few restarts and device resets where I doggedly kept changing the tabs up to 5. Very odd, but persist with it. I had to do this twice (once after a hard reset), it was a struggle each time, and I still have no idea why it eventually fell in line.

I found that the answer was to manually edit the opera.ini file in:
\Windows\Opera9\
Find the bit with Max Allowed Tabs.

[UPDATED] Miri ROM update watcher.

Hi everyone.
I'm a BIG fan of Miri's ROMs, and because of this I was always eager to know when he's released a new version. I could obviously keep checking the thread where his ROMs are posted & discussed, but I wanted something to let me know as soon as he posted something, without me having to manually check.
With that in mind, I came up with the "MiriROMWatcher" application. Simply download the file linked below and follow these instructions to install it...
Miri ROM Watcher - download
1. Unzip the rar file and place the exe file somewhere on your harddrive that you're happy with
2. Create a shortcut to the exe file (right-click and drag the file, let go and select "Create shortcut(s) here").
3. Move that shortcut file into your windows startup folder (so it starts every time you run windows.)
4. Double click the shortcut, or exe, to run the program.
Once it's running, it sits in your system tray and checks Miri's page every 10 minutes to see if the page title has changed. If it has, the icon flashes until you double-click it. (Double-clicking opens the thread in your default browser, whether flashing or not.) Since Miri changes the thread title to reflect the version number, it's a pretty simple way of looking for a new version of the ROM.
This is not a flashy, user-friendly program - it's a simple app that does a simple thing. With that in mind, there'll be no config files or front end, and it will probably never be updated in any way. If it doesn't work for you, send me a private message and I'll see if I can help, but I'm not promising anything. It's such a simple app that it should just work anyway.
Hope it helps some people out. If there's enough interest I'll look at doing a mobile version, so you know of updates even when you're out and about!
Thanks all.
Edit:
I've modified the application to ignore page titles "Error Message" and "502 Bad Gateway". Whenever the XDA forum went down (for whatever reason), the app was seeing the error or gateway message as a new page title, and showing an update. It now simply ignores the page if it sees one of those titles. If you need to update the app, simply replace the existing exe file with the new one (make sure that the app is not running when you do this, or it won't work.)
MOD EDIT
As this is an application I've moved it to Themes, Applications and Software forum. I suggest you also post a link in Miri's threads
Cheers Spartan.
cool, he really deserves that attention. Great artist.
great thanks ...
Thanks my friend, I added a link to the first post of the ROM thread.

Might be a silly question but is Quick GPS included in this ROM? if not is there anywhere i can download it from?

hej!
nice idea about the ROM watcher! I usually use twitter to follow Miri, or

Now Miri has moved to HTCpedia, guess the app needs an update

Saving Bookmarks from Opera Mobile 10

With Opera Mobile 10 the bookmarks are not stored anymore in opera6.adr file. They are in
Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\profile\datastorage\2\all.dat
If you are one of those who frequently keeps changing ROMs on your phone an need to save bookmarks save this file and copy into the new ROM.
I guess if you have opera on your desktop the process is much easier.
Hope this helps. My apologies if this info is already posted elsewhere. Couldn't find it when I searched.
very good info. This had me puzzled as I have opera bookmark backup cab and I could not get it to work for the life of me. Thanks for the heads up.
I use agent's ROM and Opera bookmark location is : Windows\profile\datastorage\2\all.dat

I use for backup the Opera Link.
How can I import the old Opera Mobile 9.x links to OM10?
by using OPERA LINK via MY OPERA
Importing Links from earlier versions of Opera Mobile
Opera Links did not work for me.
The following method did, starting from version 9.5 beta:
I installed each of the previous Opera updates which are available at:
ftp.opera.com/pub/opera/winmobile/
I allowed each new version to remove the previous version when prompted.
For some reason, although installing version 10 did not import the bookmarks when updating from 9.5, there seemed to be no problem going from 9.5 to 9.7 to 10.01 to 10.02 and finally 10.02u in sequence.

At the risk of being told "search for it" ..I'm asking this question anyway because it's specifically the topic of this thread:
There are several number-folder's under \datastorage\ (e.g, "4", "8") in addition to "2" that contain a file called "all.dat". Do these not pertain to bookmarks, too?
If not, anybody know what they do pertain to? Just wondering if I should back-up/restore them, too.
Thanks.
Thank you! That really helps. Any idea how can I save the 3x3 "home page" links?
O mobile 10 speeddial config location
yo mates!
the config of the speed dial seems to be under the folder 6 in datastorage.
there are fav, img and a dials.dat files.
fav0.dat to fav8.dat for the url itself and img0.dat to img8.dat for the 'screenshots' used on the coresponding dial button.
cheers...
I wish I knew this before
The other day I updated from Opera 10 beta 2 to beta 3 using ninja duck's (with flashlite included). It erased my prior bookmarks, so I have to start all aver again.
we sure?
hey pcash, maybe its my version but, I think its folder "4" for mine. I deleted and re-installed opera 10. before adding bookmarks there was only folders 1,2,6 and 8. After I added 2 bookmarks, folder 4 appeared. took that all.dat file and renamed it all.txt. I opened it and amongst the gibberish, were the bookmarks and their names!. im thinking one might be the history? well, ill investigate a lil more
yup. folder 4 is the history.

No. Because the MortScript could not work with non-ascii files, it works only with text/ini files.
WARNING!!
This will not work for everybody!!!
Check into things before you use the all.dat file from folder '2' as your backup option. I saved it, and then uninstalled Opera, so i could install it to my storage card fresh, rather than moving it. I replaced all.dat in new location, and ALL my bookmarks are gone...and I had a lot. I'm kicking myself for not verifying before the uninstall...so all versions or devices or something are not the same...I will post when I find what happened and how to avoid...just wanted to get the warning out there.
So copying all.dat to my laptop and renaming to a .txt file shows that it does contain my bookmarks amongst the garbbled characters. Opera just doesn't use the data. Everytime I run Opera it replaces with a fresh all.dat file of 500b. The only difference is the install location...same version from the same original cab file. Any ideas how to force Opera to use the data in old file rather than replacing it with empty new one??
Another side note which I'm sure is obvious to everyone but changing that dat file in anyway while in the text editor makes opera crash forcing a reset...followed by over 25 error messages to go through upon boot up....so I would recommend not trying it as I foolishly did!

Well \Program Files\Opera Mobile 10\profile\datastorage\4\all.dat is the data for the speed dials (the 3 x 3 grid of 9 assignable quick links on the "start" page) on mine.

Show my Own Number in Home Tab

Hi,
I always forget my own Phone-Number, so I have to search it when somebody asks me.
Is there a Way to show my own Phone-Number in my Home-Tab(Manila2.5).
Perhabs in the small Bar which shows your Provider(e.g. "T-Mobile") right above the Clock.
I would be thankfull for all sugestions.

I think if you go to settings/personal/owner info and there you can write your names, phone adress and etc... then you can choice in your home screen to be writed the owner info and this way will be writen your name phone and etc.. im not sure about the phone number but i think all the info you wrote will apear on the today screen just try by yourself
Solution..
Hi Nemesis,
Go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=625483 and download
Co0kie.HomeTab_v1.6.1.cab
After instalation, open a registry editor on the phone and go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\
In this folder look for "Co0kie.CustomOperatorName", open this item and enter your phone number in the "string" box.
P.S. Make sure you answer with yes, when asked for save confirmation.
Reboot your phone..
Voila..now you have you're phone number displayed in manila's home screen, where you would normally find your operator name.
P.S.
If you really miss your operator name..just go back to the regeistry and re-edit the values to look like this: "Your operator name" - "phone number"
Hi,
