SMS backup & restore on the Market. It saves your SMS on the microSD card and it's free!
Try MyPhoneExplorer. Install the PC software in windows and the android app by the same name from the market. Let's you completely manage your phone from your computer.

Hey Guys,
So I've been running Myn's Warm Donut for a while now, and I want to flash to the new froyo 2.2. I initially was able to backup and restore (most of) my SMS when moving from WinMo to Warm Donut using some apps that would allow me to export on WinMo and then I could import that file to Android.
However, because of the lack of being able to save the 'Backup' file on Myn's Warm Donut using pretty much all SMS Backup apps (due to I/O errors), I dont seem to be able to back up the SMS files for restoration after flashing to a different Android build.
I've been trying to back up the SMS just for reference using the SMS backup to gmail app, but everything is totally unorganized, and it only backs up 200 at a time. Anyways, I was wondering if there are any alternatives or if anybody has been successful with something similar when wanting to backup and restore across android builds.
Thanks in advance
?
Have you tried SMS Backup & Restore from market (free)?
This app lets you backup on sdcard, and you can also restore them.
Yeah, I tried it, but I get an I/O error when trying to back up. Likely because the rom doesn't allow access to save to the SD card to save files or mount it on the PC.
Have you tried lifesaver2 free on market that saves phone history too.
It backs up on SD card.
Maybe "SMS Backup+" it backs up to google with label SMS. But so far I never had to restore it from there
Is it possible? I want to delete most of the messages off my phone, but have access to an archive of them on my laptop.
Anyone used the gmail backup solution?
there's an app called Life Saver in the market, it makes backup of your SMS and Call Log, then you can find and transfer the backup file to your PC
Yep. The mentioned LifeSaver and SMS Backup & Restore both work. The GMail solution for backup works fine too (done with +1000 messages to date).

try MyPhoneExplorer
I did one stupid thing, manually clear all data from HTC Sense, from apps menu.
Now i see that all my SMS are gone.
I don't root my desire or install any additional software for backup.
Also, auto backup is enabled and phone tried to install this latest backup before week or two, so i know that i have a recent backup of my phone.
Phone just didn't finish upgrade because it runs of the memory, had only 17MB free
So, my question is, are there any way to manually initialise backup procedure and return my phone on my last backup or just somehow manually restore my SMS messages?
Thanks!
How to Recover / back up HTC Wildfire s ???
Anyone can help me please
First of all why would you make two threads with same question but different title in the same section? :X
Here's your answer:
Contacts: Sync to google or go to contacts and export the contacts. Copy the file from memory card to pc.
Messages: download sms backup and restore app from market or use titanium backup if you have root.
Apps: If you have root you can easily backup all the apps and data by using titanium backup or you can use app's options to backup (might not have).
Nandroid: If you are looking to install a new rom, you may make a nandroid backup from cwm to restore it later on.
Also don't forget to copy all sd card data to pc.
Hi,
I've gone from Insertcoin ROM to Cyanhenmod 12 5.1.
I've got backups of my old SMS using the stock HTC One M8 messaging app.
How do I restore my backups in CyanogenMod as it only wants to see .zip files but I don't know where they are stored for me to restore these.
Thanks.
I don't know if you have your answer already, but for the sake of researchers...
The stock HTC Messages app creates .hbk files when it backs up it's SMS. Keep in mind MMS does not backup. I have lost my Group Messages because they apparently come in as MMS. (I'm sure this is changeable within settings, but I don't want to change it).
To restore your messages, you'll need to either somehow get the Stock HTC Messages app in CyanogenMod and restore it from there, or... flash a Sense ROM and restore it from there.
The backups are saved in a folder named "sms_backup". This folder is generally located in the root of the internal storage. If you use a file explorer, or plug your phone into your computer, you generally start in the root folder already. (Check your external as well if you don't see the folder). If you don't see the folder, it's safe to create it on your own, and place your backup files there. I suggest placing them in the internal storage, and not the external (for the sake of making sure it works the first time[not saying it won't work, it's just easy to troubleshoot issues if people follow the same steps {malfunctioning SD card could cause an issue with restoring}])
Remember, MMS is NOT backed up using the Stock HTC Messages app for backing up SMS. This means your group messages may not back up. I am now going to start using a 3rd party app to back up my SMS, as so I can backup SMS and MMS.
I have no recommendations on 3rd Party back up SMS applications.

Download nandroid manager from the play store. It will read your backups and can restore SMS, MMS, call logs, Wi-Fi, apps, user dictionary, and some other things I don't use. It's been invaluable to me over the years.
