Will WP7 have games like god of war or streetfighter4. I seen what they have already and Iam not impressed at all.

If someone makes a game like god of war or street fighter 4 then sure it will. The hardware is quite capable of running some pretty intense games they just have to be made.
Actually it probably won't have god of war but potentially streetfighter. Not for technical reasons but there won't be any "M" rated games in the store. Microsoft is going with a PG13 strategy. It was mentioned that this is even a problem for MS as there is some wanting to bring Halo to the platform.
So much for the gaming platform. Not that I personally care much, but that's a strange attitude to a phone with that XBox logo on the homescreen.
PG13? Sounds quite dumb because exceptional majority of WP7 phone owners will be grown-ups.
Yea, I'm thinking that they may open it up more once they can get parental controls in a "future release" but for now it's the more family friendly variety.
This makes sense. (Market for under-18s) > (Subset of gamers that need >PG13 content). But it will be good when the platform gets more security features / parental controls.
kids with money?

At the prices that Microsoft will charge, what parent will give thier child a windows phone7? If thier marketplace is PG-13 then they wont release the game that Microsoft has been showing Harvest . I think this is a way so that Microsoft can approve thier own developers but not indepent developers. Microsoft already has a built in excuse now. What a shame!!

Harvest is extremely tame. Seems pretty PG-13 to me.

But twin blades isnt...your cutting people up & you have guns, with blood splashing on the screen...where is the info that says the games will be limited to PG-13?? indie games arent ever rated on the xbox, plus it would take to much to scan every game

Remember, MS is separating the game marketplace from the app marketplace, so the same rules may not apply to the game store. Besides, there won't be a God of War game on WP7 anyway since it's a Sony exclusive.

maybe it will be but exclusive to sony branded wp7
Halo was specifically mentioned as being a "problem" since MS is enforcing a PG-13 policy. I'm sure there's public sources but this was from a talk I heard in person at TechEd.
hi,
when microsoft annouced wp7 they said all apps in the marketplace must have a free trial. i have downloaded the new zune software and alot of apps do not have free trials.
have MS changed their policy?
I think it works like this. If you buy an app, you can return it in 24 hours and get your money back.
It definitely doesn't work like that.
It's up to developers if they want to offer a trial or not and they can implement trials in any way they want (time limits, function limits, ads). Forcing Devs wouldn't make any sense, it'd only put some off developing for the platform. Apps with trials are likely to sell better (just as iPhone apps with 'lite' versions tend to do better) so it shouldn't take too long for trials to become the norm.

I'm pretty sure i read it somewhere but maybe i mixed it up with something else. I'm reading too much about WP7 so everything starts to blur inside my head.
From what I have read the games need to have a free demo but not heard anything about other apps
Will old apps (for Windows Mobile 6.xx) still work under WP7?

no........
Oh....then this could be my big concern of WP7. I like WM 6.5 is there are plenty of apps around..
There is reported around 2000 apps ready to go for wp7 already, when iphone launched it had less then 500. I dont think apps will be an issue except for people going on about how its an issue and manifesting a self fulfilling prophesy. WP7 is a dream for dev's if they get on board.
I SOOOO have faith in Windows Phone 7 and think it will be a hit. The developers have definately shown more interest than 6.X OS and that is a good thing for us at the end of the day. We will be getting high quality apps and apps that were made for Android and IOS and not for old WinMo are now being made for WP7. Developers have faith too! We all win

yh i heard that too but some games dont have demo's. i think MS backtracked.
I think the only app developers that would not want to add a demo are the ones that know the apps are crap and not worth the money.
There's around 500 apps in the marketplace as of now - the goal is afaik 2000 by launch in three days time.

i reckon they will have about 1000 by the uk launch on thursday and just under 2500 by the US launch.
cant see them testing and passing 1500 apps in 3 days (500 a day).
I just browsed through all the apps. My big question is "Where is the killer game app" like MonkeyBall was for iPhone? Microsoft should fully know (XBox) that you need to have a killer game at the launch of your gaming platform.
I even saw a few fart apps
So far it looks like too many rinky-dink apps instead of full-blown quality apps. Let's hope this changes soon.

more and more apps are available everyday, and I have a feeling they are holding off on some apps (i.e. Harvest) until the actual release day.
Have you seen the apps though? I mean really seen what's there as of now? Mostly, pretty much rubbish IMHO! From a business, productivity, tools point of view - useless. Really hoping it improves soon
Okay I can agree to an extent on that..I actually saw a farting dinosaur app.... but on the whole some looked useful and a few of the games looked nice.
Pocketnow is reporting a MS confirmation of AB for WP7 and a release date of April 6.

April? I'd personally prefer a surprise launch instead of figuring out why the hell this game is still more than a month away.
Was the legal issue ironed out? Release the damn game!

So is this list ordered? If so, I assume Sonic 4 is two weeks away, geoDefense four weeks, Angry Birds six, etc.

Every "Xbox Live" game is published by a major studio. Most of the time its Microsoft if its from a smaller developer like this.
It ia said that Angry Birds, the best-selling iOS game, as well as five other well-known games will all become available for WP7 on April 6.
According to WinRumors, five other titles are as follows:
Doodle Jump
Plants vs Zombies
Hydro Thunder Go
Sonic the Hedgehog 4 Episode I
geoDefense
The games will all have Xbox Live integration and feature achievements and leaderboards.
Abousolutely a good news for all of us … what are you waiting for and what other games would you like to see on Windows Phone 7? Let us know.
You can read the detail in

Wow... 5 whole apps? I guess they can cross their fingers then and hope that this puts them back in the running. They are so behind the curve that they need many miracles to return. I am a former WinMo fanboy... and I was one for far too long. But, if they can catch up to android, I might just give them a shot again. Call me when pigs fly.
I remember them saying they have zero plans to port it over to WP7, but we can hope...
I see no evidence on what makes them believe this will be done, but we can hope...

Well, not everyone can like every game. But millions already like Angry Birds.
Oher than the non live titles made by independant developers I am starting to think this phone will never make it past the casual gaming.
“Beards & Beaks: Cave Area”
“Bug Village”
“Burn the Rope”
“Chickens Can’t Fly”
“Collapse!”
“Gravity Guy”
“Farm Frenzy 2”
“Fight Game Rivals”
“IonballEX”
“Kinectimals Mobile”
“Mush” .
“Orbital”
“TextTwist 2”
“Toy Soldiers Boot Camp”
Seriously...
a phone is perfect for casual gaming. I did buy "The Harvest" and while it was excellent it wasn;'t nearly as enjoyable for quick plays when you have free time etc
Halo. Forza 4 (perfect for WP7, even downloading "ghost" cars to race against to climb the leaderboards). MIA. Missed opportunity.
Ya Know when they were hyping up "The Harvest" and talking about how games like this were an display of what windows mobile could do I should have known it was a trap.

People use phones for non-casual gaming?
I want Emigmo 2....I wish they would release that for WP7.... I beat Emigmo 3 times now (all 50 levels).
If you were expecting hardcore gaming on a phone, then, well... I don't know what to say.
Shoulda bought an Xbox instead?

Yeah I mean, I kind of agree with that. I have a 360 and consider myself to be a hardcore gamer and I'm just satisfied knowing that if I buy these games I'll get achievements with them.

This just looks like some of the new titles announced at the Gamescom event so i wouldnt take it as the difinitive list, specially seeing as there were over 60+ new XBL games for WP7 announced at the event. http://www.bestwp7games.com/
Maybe MS still need to attract the attention of the major gamehouses that furnish the other platforms with the titles i think you would like to see. Once the mango update is officially released and revenue begins to flow i'm sure the better titles will come.
Have patience though, MS has the Xbox platform and all of the software contacts it needs to make this work, they wouldnt purposefully make WP7 crappy imho.
In the meantime there are some top titles in the marketplace already (sonic, harvest, PES etc...) and i'm sooo looking forward to Toy Soldiers.
Regards,
Creamy
I think we'd all be better off in this forum if posters of topics like this did, indeed, shoot themselves in the face.

Forza 4 Maybe, but how the hell you gonna play Halo on a phone? It's hard enough on the console.
Meh, on the phone I want games that I can take up and play for a few minues when I'm waiting for a bus or something like that, games that is fast to get into and that I can quit anytime.
For hardcore gaming a have a PC.

You're joking right? You want to play these on a phone? The only hardcore game I would try on a phone is a RTS. That said, even on the casual front WP7 is doing poorly. The OS was announced 18 months ago and released 10 months ago and Xbox Live is still a joke. They should have just called it Games for WP and added the Live name in a year or two because as it is now it's doing the brand a disservice.
Oh by the way, there's no game release next week.

You gotta be kidding me.. such games are already their for android.. people say that: 'with an android phone with you, you dont need to buy those sony handhelds.. '
here is one example:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ZaMNMBfgr8&feature=fvsr
I am just giving it more time till mango .. if we continue to see current list of sub-par games like 'tic tac toe' and 'tap here to kill an ant and get achievements'.. than unfortunately i will make that switch by June. Because it is not an enterprise phone either, so if it cant help me in work than at least compensate that by bringing in serious entertainment.
The OP has a valid gripe. The horsepower is there and the talent is there. These franchises can translate to the phone. I play FIFA and NBA Jam and FPS games on my iPod touch and iphone. Why can't my Focus do the same?
