so my htc desire runs at a gsm frequecy of 850/something/something
when my network's 3g is @ 800
Now I installed cyanogen mod and I suddenly get an H data connection ( HSDPA I think) and I cant understand howcome when I am in that mod I am able to get internet like that from my phone provider, but not when I am in stock..
right now I am running shadowsense, and I would love it if i could enable getting internet like that again but in this mod..
Any help would be very appricated..
Cheers
Please excuse my lack of knowledge just I am new to all of this
Serouisly no one knows whats going on?!
Probably something to do with your APN settings. Some ROMS come with a huge list of em with correct settings for different providers, which I assume your non-stock ROM has. Check out your service providers website for the correct APN details, or just phone them up and ask.

Hey I'm just wondering if anyone else is experiencing an issue where apps will download over Wi-Fi but not over the cellular network. It will start the download but never actually get anywhere an eventually error out. Need to know if I need to go grab a new GN or not!!
That's your cellular network provider at fault if downloads are fine over WiFi.

I'm a sales rep for Telus and every android phone I've set up never has a problem downloading apps over the network...
I was having some issues with the market, but once I flashed the google image instead of the samsung version that came installed, I haven't had a problem.
Now if I could figure out how to get the tmobile market....
I think there was a previous post about this. The answer seemed to be if you have a proxy set up in the APN settings that was preventing it from downloading over the cell network. Not sure what the default APN settings are for Telus so I dunno if there is a proxy or not.
Thanks for the info. I'll try manually doing the APN settings!
Definitely didn't work

Hey, I had the same issue, along with another user.
The fix that worked for both of us is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1371995
Basically edit your APN settings so that the "proxy" field is empty instead of populated.
Edit: The person that actually found the fix is jayclapp and he is on Telus, so this should work for you...I'm on mobilicity and it worked for me too.
Thank you so much for linking me to this. I was about to return it tomorrow and buy an Amaze. Now I get to keep my awesome GN =D thank you!

APN
You may have lost/wiped your APN when you did the root. Check under your network settings for mobile network and then look for apn or access point names. You should have one or more APN options, if you don't, then you may need to manually enter yours.
APNs vary based on your carrier, so you'll need to either contact them or look them up on the internet. I'd be happy to help search if you tell me your provider.

My network provider is TATA DOCOMO. Actually what happens is if i try to connect , suddenly range disconnect after 2 or 3 seconds range will come.
Again i will do restart or airplane mode , first time range will be shown suddenly range disconnect. strange problem. i dont know whats the problem. i dont know how to explain. i checked the APN it is fine. Is there any problem in my RADIO?
With Reliance CDMA the problem was an unregistered MEID. Are you on CDMA or GSM. Tata are known to be the toughest on security, so must be some setting which got hit for six.

Im reading this link below: might be relevant

Mobile signal is perfectly fine - I can send and receive calls and SMS. I am running G2Slim 1.6. Radio is the latest - 26.13.04.19_M, but I tried several different radios with no result. I have tried every combination of data roaming/only 2g networks allowed/disallowed. I have talked to the reps at the store and they said everything should be correctly activated as far as the SIM goes and data should be working.
It is entirely possible that this is a hardware problem with my phone - I've been having problems with my WiFi that seem to be caused by hardware. However, data works fine in the U.S. Any ideas? What steps can I take to diagnose this?
In the dialer type *#*#4636#*#* check your settings
You also may want to check if the proper apn is set up

Thank you!
I did not know about this menu, although I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. It gives "No Error" for the reason data is disconnected. Network type is set to WCDMA preferred. I tried toggling DNS check, no difference. Although I can't imagine that would matter, phone has to connect to something before it needs to worry about DNS.
As far as APN's - in the normal Mobile networks menu, when I go to Access Point Names, the list is blank. Perhaps this is significant?
That's your problem, need to add the apn you need. You can find this info by googling it and if you find nothing helpfull there are apps on the market that can do most of the wrok for you

Thank you very much! Working now.
These icon swap back and forth alot. Im on at&t and i dont believe i live in an area with enhanced backhaul what does this mean? Also i have trouble with my MMS. They take a very long time to send and sometimes dont send at all. Could this be why?
I dont know if it is related but try either GSM or WCDMA rather than both under settings - mobile
And may I ask...why are you still using MMS in times of WhattsApp?

I literally know nobody that uses android. and im running cm9 how to do that?
Sounds like Fast Dormancy is enabled on the phone, maybe your network doesn't support it, which means that your phone is taking a long time to renegotiate HSDPA connections...
How would I turn that off in cm9?

Unsure, I believe this is set by the RIL or Radio, stock ROMs likely do the same but hide the fact that it is switching by having both 3G and H icons be the 4G icon.
its something like *#9900* you can look it up online though to make sure. At least it was the way to do it when I had a Samsung
you would type that in dialer and it would bring up a menu
Or you could flash a ROM like leedroid which should have fast dormancy disabled by default since it asks if you want to enable in the AROMA installer.
Mine switches between H and 3G every once in a while. Not really frequently though.

might be your data plan or APN
use the Phone apn
go create a new apn in settings and put in this
Name: phone
APN: phone
leave the rest blank. How frequently is it changing from 3G to H? I don't think anything can really be done about it and it's natural. So long as it doesn't interfere with anything.
Mine switches but not frequently, every once in a while

That doesnt allow any connectivity whatsoever maybe its because im using cm9 you think?
Edit: I see on my account im using the 2gb for smartphone plan is that the correct one?
Edit2: Called in and they switched to the 4g one and it works good.
hello every one.
My lte doesn't work. I already test with the rom paranoid and CM.
I m from morocco our 4g is new and i think is the same as the europe 4g (lte).
Do you have any idea ?
Pls help
Thank you for your time
up
Help pls i need to flash modem ?
Which carrier are you using in Europe? Are you roaming from T-Mobile or have you purchased a different service/SIM card in Europe?
Also, what country are you in specifically?
There was a guide somewhere on XDA regarding Qualcomm processors and band unlocking using QXDM (LTE) and QPST (GSM/WCDMA) though I forget the exact name. I believe there was also concern that it could damage antennas. Also I have no idea if it actually works and mucking around in the NV RAM space is very risky. I would not advise it.
Is at least the GSM service working? If so, is it really that bad that you need LTE? Personally I would leave it at "oh the gsm works, I'm good". :good:
Depends on the carrier you are using, is your phone unlocked? I would assume that it is since your can receive gsm signal.... Anyways, what you would want to do is check your network's APN and check our phones APN settings and add the 4g/LTE APN settings to your phone manually... Then restart your phone and try again, make sure you select the apn after adding it so you know it's active. Try that. If that doesnt work, then go into your APN settings again and just do (reset apn setings) or something along the lines of that which resets/restores your apn settings back to normal/default.... either one could work, try the first one first ofc!
