Come on people.. i know there is someone out there.. that can do something to simply CLICK ONE button and get the EVO ROOTED..!!! I KNOW There is several out there.. but they all say Not supported for EVO.. because blah blah blah.. lol..
NOW COME ON.. I KNOW U GUYS ARE SMART.. I just want mine to be rooted with one click..
If you aren't confident that you can follow a few easy steps to root your EVO, then you're better off not rooting it at all. Ever.
Confidence is key, even my scary a$$ did it lol
Swyped from my HTC EVO 4G via xda app
Demanding things from devs is not smart thats why the epic has so few devs left. you want it you do itz, ASK if someone can, or get over it all the rooting methods on here are very simple
Sent from my unrEVOked using xda app
A friend of mine rooted his Evo yesterday by himself, and he knows so little about these phones, that he had to call me during the process to ask me how to check if USB debugging was enabled on his phone.
If he can do it.....TRUST ME.....so can you. lol
it does looks super easy.. and im sure i could do it.. but im just scared..lmao.. but i know ill do it one of this days.. just say.. **** IT.. lol it would be better to be an app with just one button to do it..
The thing is that pretty much anything you do with root is going ot be far more dangerous than the actual rooting process. If you can't handle rooting you probably won't want to do anything else. (with the exception of one or two apps)
Flashing themes, or new ROMS or anything else will **** your phone up if you're not careful, far more easily than the fairly simple rooting procedure will.
And really - I used a three click rooting method. Is three clicks that much more scary than one?
the root process is copy and paste easy the devs have tried to make it easy as possible so start thanking them and not demanding they work hard to even have a root for the phone let it go its easy copy and paste lol not that hard to read a guide that is made very simple if you are not comfatable rooting then dont try it at all because ones you root u need a custom rom cant be scared dude there is almost a fix for everthing exspecially if you ask the devs nicaly they will guide you throu problems i have only seen one brick that could not be fixed and that was i did it on purpose installed a wroung bootloader on 2.02
stop being a baby ! lol and do it
What do you mean ill need a new custom rom before i root it?

Quick question? Why are you rooting your evo? If you have no good reason, you really shouldn't.
simple root 1click 4 evo
i have been on the fence on wether i should root or not and i think i am ready to root my evo. i have been doing some research and it looks like i have two options that would be best. i could dowload the sdk and root my phone that way or i could download the ota simple root 1click version 1.47.651.1. i saw a video on the simple root that had 4 clicks and then you had to go to extras and flash a recovery. it all seamed pretty simple but when i went to download the ota simple root file, instead of giving me 4 buttons it only gave me 2. it said it was the lastest version and so i went with it. i clicked the root button and it pulled up the command box and started doing it thing but after pushing the files it said that the adb was outdates and it was killing it got an error and it tried again went to pushing the pc36 said the adb was out of date again and gave error then continued to push the flash file os somthing like that.... and again it said adb out of date killing but gave error tried again and again and again... ect. until it went to red screen telling me when my phone screen had skating adroid men on it push power button to reboot and so on..... push any key to continue but phone never went to screen with android men. went over the whole process again and this time when red screen came up i did a factory reset and still nothing happened except for when it got to my home screen it said please wait while loading my take awhile then went to white screen with just htc and then back to home screen. i know this seems like a lot but the more thorough the better. can anyone help or point in the right direction? THANK YOU!!!

I deleted several sprint apps a few months ago when I temporarily rooted my EVO with z4 Root. I would now like to update the phone to 3.70. I have tried the OTA and the manual version but after extensive research, I realize that I can't update without these system apps (sprint tv, nascar, football, etc..)
Is there any way I can get these apps back on my phone?... or be able to update to 3.70 without them? I am not permanently rooted, still using z4 root.
Any advice at all, would be greatly appreciated...

Not sure about adding the bloat back but try flashing myns or mikfroyos roms. They r both based off of 3.7 base but without bloat and speed up. Mostly stock looking as well
Thanks for the reply.. I'm not sure I can use custom ROMs with a temporary root, is it possible? What I'm looking for in the new update is permanent SWYPE and the updated speed. This is my last attempt to try to fix the problem... If I don't find a solution, I will have to replace my EVO and pass this one on to my husband. This has been driving me crazy!

I don't know about the temp root but u can always try the full root.
You could permanently root, the ROMs mentioned before have the swype keyboard & are faster than stock.
Or you could download the apk files that you deleted. If you can't find them, you could pull them from a stock rooted ROM. Then, while temporarily rooted, move them to /system/app and set permissions to rw-r--r-- with Root Explorer or a free alternative. They'll be there when you reboot.

Thank you SO MUCH! That sounds perfect... I will try the apk files first, I'm curious to see if that will work. Thank you for the excellent detailed explanation, I actually understood everything and feel like it will be easy (I do have Root Explorer).
If that doesn't solve the problem then I will do a permanent root and use the above custom ROM. When I am finished, I will post my results.
Thanks again for all your help!

If adding the .apk's back doesn't work, and you don't want to root and run custom roms (which you definitely should ), you could always run an RUU. I believe you should be able to run the 3.70 RUU no problem, but if not, run the 3.30 RUU, and that will flash you to a completely stock, out of the box ROM. Then you should be able to run the OTA. To run the RUU, you just need to have HTC Sync installed on your computer, if you don't already. You plug your phone into computer via USB, and run the RUU from the computer. I believe you want to use the HTC Sync that came on your evo's SD card, if you still have it. I believe the most updated one on HTC's website causes issues with RUU. Anyways, good luck, and here's a link.

I would permanently root, you can always unroot later too. Use unrevoked 3.

You can get certain apps by sending a Text message to sprint.
Like, send a text to "7777" with the word "NASCAR" and it should send you a download. It may work for the rest of them too, not sure tho.
I would try a full root myself.. you won't be sorry.

Thank you VERY MUCH! I just can't express the relief I feel. I could not reinstall the sprint .apks. I spent 3 hours trying all different kinds of ways before I finally gave up and moved on to the RUU. If you had not suggested and explained this, I would still be totally stressed. This is my first time to ever post a problem on any forum, I usually just search and read. This was a great experience and everyone was so helpful!
I want to briefly post my steps just in case someone else has the same problem later.
Searched and downloaded Stock RUU 3.29 (this is what I was running prior to deleting apps) and HTC sync 2.0.4 (my understanding that this is the only sync that has the highest success rate with minimal errors)
Uninstalled the latest HTC sync from my computer and then installed the 2.0.4 version I just downloaded.
Made sure USB debugging was enabled on my phone, then connected to PC with USB cable.
Powered off the phone, then while holding the volume down button, I pressed the power button until the screen with the 3 android skateboarders appeared.
I then had the RUU file on my desktop (PC) ready to click. On the phone I scrolled with the volume button to fastboot, then pressed the power button to select. I then quickly double clicked the RUU file on my computer.
When the dialog box came up, I followed the instructions. At one point, it asked to update the rom version. I Selected update and continued until completion.
This worked perfect. My phone was wiped clean and back to the original stock ROM with all sprint bloatware. I then updated my phone to the latest update 3.70.
After this, I now feel comfortable doing a permanent root. That is my plan for tomorrow... I wont be deleting anymore bloatware, just freezing it.

Awesome! I'm glad I was able to help, and that you got your issue resolved. It's always good when your first experience posting in a forum is a positive one, and XDA has a wealth of info and great people around here. Good luck on rooting, I'm sure you'll have no trouble. Then you'll really get to see what your Evo can do!

Well I'm glad you got it working, but deleting the bloatware clears up space, and if you delete it from titanium backup, you should have no problems, just make sure to make a backup before you flash your first rom. And like K2buckley said, there's always good people lurking around.
If anything do NOT delete the sprint Apps just freeze them using TB... Read that on a newbs guide

Ok I'm a HTC noob so please bear with me. I setup adb-sdk environment and windows environment variable. After that I obtained Alpharevx and ran it. Everything went fine and I entered the beta key. But then after
'Beta key accepted - thank you for participating!'
, nothing happens. It just stops. Any idea how to get this thing going?
Did you run AlphaRevx as an administrator ... given you're on Vista or Windows7?
Is the phone in USB debugging mode?
Is the Android software on your phone 2.2.1? If it's 2.3 then the AlphaRevX will not work :/

Yes my phone is frogyo.
Yes it's in USB debugging mode.
Yes ran as an admin because I disabled the protection so basically all apps as admin on my windows 7.
I've read in the AlphaRevX thread where some people have had to do it multiple times before it Roots their phone. Maybe try that?
Thank you. I will try more :O I hope this won't brick my phone. I heard HTC devices can't recover from brick. With SGS you could just odin back from whatever mess you are in.

Yea, I just got mine as a replacement after a year of use. So far I'm happy because the screen is up to par with SAmoled. People always hype up SAmoled but imho, SLCD on Dinc2 is not far behind.
Hey, so I am new to this board. I myself have a Dinc2 arriving soon. My brother just got his. We are both former fascinate owners. After researching and following some how to's, my brother was rooting his phone and he got stuck while attempting to get recovery after S-off. He cannot post, but here is what stated happened:
Hey I'm having a problem with my incredible 2.
Before activating the phone (avoiding the 2.3 update) I tried rooting my phone.
1) I downloaded alpharedex and generated the code
2) downloaded the recovery mode application onto the phone
3) and placed the SU zip folder onto my phone
I was stopped at step 3 because the volume down power button procedure was not working. Instead the phone powered on normally. I attempted it many more times and it would not work.
After spending some time on it, I said screw it, I just want to use the phone. So i activated it and OK'd the 2.3 update. It shut down my phone and began to download the file but it was stopped with a exclamation point in a red triangle. I tried doing a hard reset (volume up and power button) but that did not work. So i was forced to take out the battery. When I powered up the phone again, it continued the download: the phone shut down, it began to download and froze up like last time.

Okay, so yes I know he shouldn't have done this. After consulting with me, I was able to get him into recovery by attempting the volume down + power procedure about a dozen more times.
Should he install the super user package and reboot? Or should he do something now to fix the OTA auto reboot problem while he still has recovery?
Edit: Because he is in recovery, could he just factory reset and flash a new rom? Apparently, when he boots the phone normally it gets to the home screen and then instantaneously reboots and attempts to install the OTA. That is where it locks up.
If he installs a rom it should block the update. Any custom rom will have superuser built in, and I know at least CM7 has OTA blocking built in as well.
Oh, and it sounds like his trouble booting into hboot with power and volume down is because fastboot is enabled. It can be turned off in settings»power.

deaffob, you seem to be pretty computer literate, if it keeps giving you issues, boot ubuntu from a flash drive and do it that way. I messed with windows for a couple hours, and it took me all of 20 minutes to install ubuntu to my flash drive, boot into it and root.

That is what I was hoping for, but I don't think there is a factory reset option in Recovery that doesn't wipe the current rom he is on.
I was pretty sure flashing a rom with superuser in it would solve it, and it sounds like that might be the answer.
Only problem now is somehow getting the rom on to the SD card. I might have to have him swap SD cards in my phone, add the rom to the SD card, and then swap back.
I fixed it by going to alpharev IRC and got a great help from attn1! He was very helpful late at night.
To those of who'd like to know, this was my situation:
-Windows 7 64bit with admin control turned off=everything has admin rights.
-Fastboot off(tried on too)
-installed HTC Sync's driver.
-tried HTC driver that's posted on AlpharevX's website.
-HTC Sync was uninstalled.
-It was froyo
-Correct HBOOT(obvious because the whole point of getting the beta key was to prevent someone using the hack with the wrong version of HBOOT)
-Tried 3 different USB ports.
-ADB SDK was installed
-JDK was installed
-environment variable path for ADB SDK was set.
-tried reinstalling the HTC Driver twice, each time uninstalling with Revo Uninstaller to clean up registry.
So even after all these, the hack still did not work. So attn1 suggested that I should try it different computer or download the flash version of Ubuntu and try it in there. I tried it on my old lap with Windows 7 64 installed. I haven't used the laptop that much so the Windows was pretty clean and new.
It worked on that laptop. The lesson is, no matter how much you take care of your windows system, I practically baby my computer and do everything to keep the optimum performance, it will get screwed up after some time. I would've never thought that it'd be my desktop Windows that was the problem.
So if you are having a problem, please try Ubuntu as that's probably the best bet.

Yep! And I'm happy I made the switch, the SLCD screen is not bad and has more accurate color reproduction and plus who uses the SAMOLED at 100% brightness anyways..-nobody really lol.
Also HTC sense imho is waay more useable with good functionalities like the ever so good integration of Facebook compared to TW. I still can't get over that since I was conned into thinking that the Fascinate had in-app pictures but atlas it was a link to the website.. whereas HTC has that and more plus notifications!
Sorry I'm just thoroughly impressed especially since this is my first HTC Device. ^__^

You can download a program from the Market called quickboot It allows you to reboot into recovery without doing a battery pull. this is what I use right now in replace of the 4-in-1 reboot menu
I just got su on mine. I am an Android beginner so my experience may help. My system is a laptop running Win 7. I had installed synch and then following advice removed it with all drivers. I installed the htc USB drivers, and plugged in the phone in the proper mode. AlphaRevX will not work. So (this may be vital) reinstalled synch with drivers. Then removed synch. Got AlphaRevX to do its thing at once. So the other drivers must be there!
Hello.
This is my first time posting, I have used XDA many times for great info and guides and lots of troubleshooting. I have never posted before because I have either never had anything useful to say that hadn't already been said or I was able to find the solution to my problem by diligent searching! It will not let me post in the CWM development thread so I had to come here to post. I had my Ouya all rooted, cwm installed and working fine, had xbmc and many other apps sideloaded and working good. I hadn't tried to reboot into CWM for a while because I didn't have anything I wanted to change on it at the time. Well the last couple auto updates installed as normal, nothing changed that I could tell , then I decided to reboot into recovery. Well it wouldn't go into recovery, it would just black screen and then do nothing. I then tried using the one click recovery method that had worked perfectly for me in the past, and it did the same black screen for eternity. I then factory reset it, used the ouya toolkit to root, then successfully installed the superuser and busybox files and binaries. Now no matter what method I use for installing recovery, one-click, manual, ouya toolkit all of them fail!!!. The best I can get it to do is say OUYA with the red exclamation point. I tried the methods described at the end of the CWM recovery thread , like using the home key on my usb keyboard when it shows the red exclamation, rebooting into recovery with the toolkit but nothing has worked. I am beyond frustrated and at a loss for what to do now, any help is greatly appreciated!!

Apparently the most recent updates messed up everything on my ouya, the playstore mod no longer works either, I really hope someone is going to create a newer version of cwm for this thing.
the worse thing is... I don't know the reason for that purple screen :S
so yesterday i installed the new optimus de rom and it started up fine and everything was okay, then today i realized my 3g wasnt working and usually thats no big deal because all i have to do is restore my efs in the app FreeG (I think thats what its called, I might be wrong). Well right after i did that, i hit restart phone and it turned off then wouldnt come back on. Then i finally got to the LG symbol but it will turn off then the screen will be on but will just show black. I cant boot in to recovery nor can i do anything on it at all, when i plug it in the charger it says "battery.png is missing, battery: 75%". I took my phone in to sprint and they did a reset although that didnt do anything so there sending me a new one. Now my question is, is there any way I can open up my phones folder so i can get my pictures and everything that was on it? My pics were very important to me and i dont want to lose them, thats all i need so if some could help me get them that would be much appreciated, thanks.

The key here is going to be getting back into recovery. Have you tried getting into Download Mode? If you saw the LG logo then you SHOULD be able to get into download mode. Make sure the phone is completely powered off. Connect the USB to your pc but before you connect the other end to your phone, hold volume up then connect it. You should see "Download Mode" on the screen. You will see other directions for download mode but for me this always works, usb to pc, hold volume up then plug the phone in while still holding the volume up. If you can get into Download Mode you can flash a teenybin to get back into recovery following the guide in this thread here.
Currently even if you can get into Download Mode adb might not recognize your phone(at least it never did for me). Once you flash a teenybin using LGNPST, you should be able to get into Recovery. Once in Recovery you can use adb to pull your files off of the phone and onto your computer. I use it from a linux terminal but there are guides available for Windows if that's what you use. The adb guide should be easy to find on xda(just search) so I haven't linked to it. Once adb is set up on your computer AND you can get into Recovery you can use the command 'adb pull /data/media' without quotations and it will copy the contents of your internal storage to your pc. However if you can get into recovery you do have other options for just getting the phone back up and running. This guide here should also help.
If you are familiar with irc(internet relay chat) you can hop onto freenode and enter the #lg-optimus-g channel. As soon as you enter the channel you will see "Need Help? You won't read this but..." followed by a link. All the files for LGNPST, teenybins, and in depth tutorials on fixing a soft brick will be found there. I hope this helps you and hooray for me because this is my 200th post!
PS - If you can't get into Download Mode then your secondary bootloader is gone and there isn't anything you can do(to my knowledge). However, like I said, if you saw the LG logo at all, Download mode should still be an option. Also keep in mind these instructions are for the Sprint(ls970) lg optimis g. I believe the keys are flipped on AT&T/International models(Volume Down when you plug it in to get to Download Mode).

Thank you for the response, i just tryed to get in to download mode and it went in to it fine. I would try to do all that to repair it but I dont want sprint to see that its rooted and it I cant have it be fixed when the new phone comes in, the only thing that i want is to get my files from it. Is there any way that I can just do that but leave the phone the way it is? (Not booting up passed the lg logo) I want the new phone because my current Optimus G's battery is going pretty bad I think and I would like a new one.

There are plenty of ways to get it stuck at the lg logo, sometimes it happens just from dirty flashing a rom, sometimes because you install a rom without wiping dalvik/cache. But you should know if you are on Sprint, one of the reasons I stick with them(even though their coverage is horrible in my area) is because rooting DOES NOT void your warranty with Sprint. They will warn you against it but they are the only carrier that allows rooting and will still fix your phone. Here is some info on that here. They won't advertise it but it's the truth. But bricking your phone intentionally is pretty easy I think. After getting back your data, just go into recovery and start deleting stuff you normally wouldn't. It's similar to opening up your car's hood and saying "This looks important" and ripping it out, lol. At this point that's what I would do, fixing your rooted phone is within their warranty, replacing it(which is what you want) I'm not 100% on. Although the post I linked to, says even ordering a replacement on a rooted phone is covered. Its in a reply on that page, you'll see another link. So you could get your info, use a different LGNPST file to set your phone back to factory(which will relock the bootloader and lose root) and then you can do what you did to get there in the first place or root it and start deleting important files with a root explorer to get it back to being stuck. Hope this helps.

Oh wow I never knew that but that helps a lot thanks for the help, the sprint guy said theydid a master reset or hard reset or soemthing like that, does that mean it deleted all my pictures and everything? And i understand what you mean to rebrick it that's pretty simple. When i get my new optimus is there a new root out for the update? And what roms do you prefer?

If they did a hard reset it is possible that it wiped everything but not a definite. I purchased my phone from Best Buy and was on zvb. When the zvc update came through it messed my phone up(which is why you don't take OTA's once rooted without further knowledge/modifications) so I took it to Best Buy and they said they did a hard reset to fix it. It worked, my phone booted back up and my internal was fine. However, that's Best Buy and they barely know what they are doing so it may have been a soft reset, I am not 100% sure. As for a new root for the update, I received another phone shortly after because the glass back on mine broke and Best Buy replaced it with a whole new phone. It was on zvc and I used an app named Framaroot with the Gandalf exploit option and it worked fine for me. I have heard of others having issues with that method but for me, it worked and has stuck.
Fiddy619's universal root method seems to be the preferred way for our phone, look in the general section here for a thread by engine95 to see what I mean. After I rooted with Framaroot I then used FreeGee and unlocked the bootloader then made a total nandroid backup of my stock in TWRP before going further. I also copied the backup to my PC just in case.
As for my preferred roms, if we are talking about Android 4.4 both Vanir and PSX are my personal favorites. However as you can tell from my signature I am still using stock zvc android 4.1.2. I have flashed just about every rom available for our phone but my daily driver is stock that I have modified manually(different kernel, removed bloat ware, minor modifications and tweaks, etc). For android 4.3 I have had the best experience with CM10.2 and cfxe. I have not tried CM11(based on 4.4) for awhile but it seems to have overwhelming support - Cyanogenmod usually does.
Really when it comes to roms it's personal preference. They are all very similar with different tweaks/additions. As for which one is the most stable that is also a tricky question. Even though we have the same model of phone, I have seen how picky they can be from one to the other. My roommates have the EXACT same phone, installing CM10.2 worked fine for two of us, but one lost GPS and I had to fix it.
My best advice for when you get your new phone is to backup your working stock and then have fun flashing different things making sure you follow the instructions per rom exactly. It's always a good idea after making your backup(if planning to install another rom) to wipe everything except your internal storage and do a clean install of the rom and gapps. Then, test it for a day or so because sometimes it takes time to settle in. It's a shame that Optimus DE gave you issues, it was rock solid for me, again, these phones are picky! But one of the main reasons I stayed with stock is because the AOSP based cameras leave much to be desired when compared to the LG camera. Again it's just personal preference because some don't like the lg camera.
If you have any other issues or questions I will be glad to help if I can. A lot of the people you see who are active on the forums are very knowledgeable, as long as you ask politely most will be glad to help.

Now back to my Bricked Optimus, I want to try the teenybin method although I dont understand the directions... the second step tells me to flash but how can I do that without recovery? and it doesnt say anything about entering in download mode which is the only thing I can do, am I forgetting something? And thank you for the help Tesla I really appreciate it, Ive had more assistance from you than anyone else.

Are you a windows user? The teenybin isn't flashed from recovery it is flashed from a tool called LGNPST which is a Windows program. I am going to private message you a link. It will have links for downloading and installing LGNPST on your PC. It says that you will lose all your data but if you are using the teenybin you shouldn't. It's LG's tool for flashing firmware and gives that warning regardless of what you flash. And you're welcome, coming from an EVO 4G this phone is very different and plenty of people have helped me - just paying it forward.

Hey I got in to recovery through the Teenybin although the reset that they did deleted all of my stuff so Im kinda bummed:/ but its okay cause I got my new Optimus today and its brand new so Im happy with it. Thanks again for all of the help. Thats funny that you used to have an EVO 4G because I had it for so long and thats the phone I switched back to when my LG got bricked, but let me tell you Im glad to be back to the Optimus haha the EVO 4G is just way to slow anymore. Now that I have this new Optimus which root method should I go with? Its currently runnning ZVB (4.1.2) should I update the software? It says theres a software update available but I know that sometimes they dont have roots out for those updates so how should I start with this process again with the new phone in your opinion? I havnt done this in forever (going on a year) so I cant really remember everything that I had to do.

Let your phone update before rooting and unlocking. You should end up with ZVC.
Then, you have a choice on rooting. @HPTesla will say Framaroot. I'd say use fiddy Universal root.
Then DL FreeGee from the Playstore, use the"mako" version of TWRP/CWM, your choice, I'd do with TWRP and you'll be unlocked.
Back it up in recovery and you'll be good to go.

The fiddy universal looks easier to me so I will probably use that although its not very Important which ever one is better I will use, and what recovery do you think is better? I used TWRP before but is the other one any better? I will probably go with that anyways Im just trying to get some opinions in. And what ROM do you use? I think Im gonna start out with the stock rooted ROM but theres still some stuff I want from the DE ROM like the G2 keyboard and other features from the G2, is there any way I can get those? And have you had any experience with the KitKat ROMs? Those interest me too

Exactly what he said, framaroot was quick and easy for me, but the lgog is so damn picky and fiddy seems to be the preferred method so use it just to be safe. I had zero issues with framaroot but I think I've just been lucky. And definitely update to zvc before doing either. I'd also update prl and profile for good measure.
That sucks that you lost all of your data, they must have actually did a hard reset where as BestBuy told me they did a hard reset and actually did a soft reset. But it's BestBuy so I never expect much. I softbricked my lgog the day after I got it using the GAIO tool(before finding out about FreeGee) and they fixed it with a soft reset. The guy called the manager over and the manager asked me if I tried unlocking the bootloader and I played dumb. My exact words were "What the hell is a bootloader?" and he immediately fixed it. But I was shocked anyone at BestBuy would even know that. Lmao.
As for my EVO, the micro usb port broke so I was charging it for two months like MacGyver, literally stipped the usb charging wire and hooked it straight into the positive/negative terminals in the battery while turned off! It was a fire hazard but it did the trick, lol. And luckily it had external sd(my one big gripe about the lgog) so I could still get my stuff off of it even without usb. I did love that phone, but you're right, it's incredibly slow now compared to the wonderful lgog.
And as always you are quite welcome!

I think the reason I say framaroot is bc its also super easy, install the app, pick gandalf exploit and it will do it's thing - done without ever connecting to a pc. But @engine95 is right, fiddy is more stable so use that. As for TWRP, I love 2.5.0.0 but for KK roms you have to use the one that comes with updated FreeGee, TWRP 2.6.3.x because of the SELinux changes Google made with 4.4. TWRP 2.6 was unstable originally but has since become just as stable as 2.5 according to most. OpTimuS DE was rock solid for me, as for getting some of the G2 apps, I'm not certain. It's doable but I don't know how difficult it would be because I've never tried to install them elsewhere. And I already gave you my choice of best current KK roms but today I found out a few guys are trying to get OMNI official for us. When that happens I think I will be switching to OMNI because they have been producing some impressive commits/tweaks that you won't find elsewhere. Just look through xda news to see what I mean, OMNI is on a roll!

I prefer TWRP just because that has always been our best one since the beginning. Now that all the versions of the OG are coming together though both are fine.
I like stock, but Lrod's OpTimuS 5.0 is my daily. The G2 adds he made got me hooked.
If your gonna try to pull some stuff from DE, check with Lrod. He's made alot of changes to a lot of files making it difficult. For me at least.
I've ran all the KK Roms and I liked them all. PSX is probably my favorite though. I liked Liquid in its early days, pre KK. I'm not sure it's up to KK yet.

Again, I think you're right on all fronts. Liquid was smooth(heh) but it hasn't been long since we received an official 4.3 so I don't think they're up to 4.4. And same goes for the G2 apps, sometimes it's as simple as pulling an apk out of a zip and pushing it to system/apps and changing permissions but I think Lrod did a lot of work to get the G2 apps working on our phone because they required certain dependencies/modified frameworks.

You have to root before unlocking.
Make sure your phone has at least 70 percent charge or more!!
Go to Settings: Settings>Security>Unknown sources checked: Settings>Developer Options>USB Debugging checked, Settings> Display>Screen Timeout - at least 5 min
from fiddy thread.
Directions
1. Unzip the zip file
2. Make sure USB Debugging is on, and you are in Charge only Mode
3. Run the CurrentRoot.bat, wait for the prompt. (Can now be run as admin if you wish, Still works running as regular user tho. Thanks robisodd)
4. Change to MTP Mode
5. Just ignore when your computer asks how to view files on your device.
6. Press enter in the CMD prompt to continue.
7. Done.
You shouldn't have any issues.
If you do, then try Framaroot. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276 and follow those directions.

Edit. You may have to root as admin/not admin, try both.
Edit #2 Also, do not use USB 3.0 ports. They are iffy for this stuff. LGNPST included

Okay i will try this later when i have access to a computer, but the last root i tryed told me it was successful although it didnt restart my phone or anything it just said it was in the command prompt. I will try again cause i dont think it did anything. But i have a question about roms, i am most likely going to flash the DE 5.0 again because i like it with the g2 keyboard and i kind of like the lg feel to it but the only problem is google play music always gives me an error when im playing songs and it always has. I heard aosp roms dont have that problen so in your opinion what is the most stable aosp rom with all features working like gps and everything??

AOSP SuperNexus has been getting good reviews here in the forums but I haven't tried it yet. I would give that one a shot though. I'd flash GAPPS standard with it instead of GAPPS core as well. This is just generally speaking with any of the AOSP roms.
The directions @engine95 gave you for fiddy are spot on(as usual ), specifically having the phone in charge only mode instead of mtp. I think a lot of people have missed that step and it won't work in mtp. Using usb 2.0 is another good tip.
And if your phone didn't reboot, you probably arent rooted. Easiest way to check that you are rooted is by going into the app drawer and seeing either Superuser or SuperSu app. If it's there, you're rooted, if not, it didnt work. If it said it worked but didnt reboot, Im assuming you rebooted manually? It sounds silly but sometimes it's as simple as that. But again, after rebooting if one of those apps arent there, you are not rooted.
EDIT: I've never tried rooting with fiddy without being in charge only mode, Im wondering if being in mtp may install supersu/superuser app but not the binary? Probably not but I could be wrong. Just wondering if there is any possible way that the app could be there but you still wouldn't have root privileges. For me, if the app is there, I'm rooted but I don't pretend to know everything(far from it, lol).
EDIT#2: Once you are rooted and recovery is installed, here is the link to SuperNexus.
EDIT#3: And I can't stress this one enough....after rooting and unlocking the bootloader, before flashing ANYTHING, make a full backup of your stock AND copy the TWRP folder(with your backup in it) to a computer, JUST IN CASE! That way you will always have a backup elsewhere, even if something goes wrong with your phone's internal storage. Better safe than sorry!!! And it's also best to copy the entire TWRP folder.
@HPTesla You're on a roll!
Go with everything he's said.
I don't use Google music ,so I'm of little help there.
Almost every ROM has its quirks, and it's just a matter of finding the one that does what you need/want.
Our devs have given us a lot of options. And I know, I sure appreciate them.

so yesterday i installed the new optimus de rom and it started up fine and everything was okay, then today i realized my 3g wasnt working and usually thats no big deal because all i have to do is restore my efs in the app FreeG (I think thats what its called, I might be wrong).

I ran OpTiMuS for a long time and every time I would try new roms, decide I didn't like or whatever and go back, I'd always have to 1. Dial ##72786# 2. Let it self activate sometimes twice, but usually just once before I would pick up 3g/4g. May have just been my phone but you may try that out if you go back to optimus De. Over all, my favorite stock like rom though.
