In case you didn't know, Smart Keyboard is one of the best keyboards available on Android. The thing is however, there isn't any Galaxy S skin available on this app, even though making one should not be too difficult:
http://www.dexilog.com/smartkeyboard/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=477
I can't stand any of the skins that come with the app, I need my UI look consistent, and that goes for the keyboard theme too. Anyone interested in porting the stock Galaxy S keyboard skin to Smart Keyboard?

Hi guys
I have a Desire, and have come from a Milestone/Droid background of having Launcher Pro Plus on it.
I love the Launcher Pro Plus dock. Is there anyway on Sense that you can change the dock settings? I love the Sense UI, but at the moment I have Launcher running because of the dock.
I know I want my cake... but was just wondering? x
No, unfortunately not. That was one of the main reasons why I started using LauncherPro, and now with all the other benefits of that homescreen replacement, I see no reason to start using HTC Sense again at all
Cheers Champ, that's what I thought. I love what Fede is doing with Launcher Pro - he really is a fantastic dev and a lovely guy.
I like some of the Sense UI - but just love the Launcher Pro dock and can't move away from that - the customization of LP is just great.
So thanks for clearing that up.
Is it possible to change the apps in the Dock/Row at the bottom?
I use Handcent SMS and I would prefer to have that in the dock area instead of the "messanging" icon. Any ideas? I don't want to use another launcher. I prefer Touchwiz...
Honestly, I thinks that's what's gonna be samsungs next uppdate. They a few minor things o7ut but it was all for making it look as amazinguyen as it does now. I am using ADW with the Gala S theme with flikie hd since this can handle the amazment. Hope this helps... besides the other launcher and such.

You can you use the stock android launcher, go to setting-manage apps.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Thanks! I hope this is fixed in the update.
I plan to replace the TouchWiz Launcher with LauncherPro on day one. This allows for a much much more customizable dock and ditches the goofy iphone type of side scrolling for apps.
I'd love to see the ability to change the drop down quick buttons, I don't use blue tooth or 4G so I'd love to be able to change that...
Unfortunately there is no way to change the shortcuts on the TouchWiz launcher. I just use LauncherPro, it's 100x better than TW and you're not missing out on the widgets since TW's widgets are terrible. ADW is good too.
One suggestion - search the market for Home Switcher, it makes switching between launcher apps much easier.
Also yeah I'd like to be able to replace the Bluetooth toggle with a 3G one.
Launcher Pro Plus
Launcher Pro runs great on my Samsung Epic. If you put any Home Replacement on, make sure you clear the memory and force close the Touch Wiz app. Launcher Pro runs much smoother than the TW Home.

Second android phone and will never buy an IPhone

Could anybody point me to where to download the standard Froyo keyboard for the Galaxy S: my custom rom comes with Swipe (which I don't like) and a mod of Gingerbread keyboard which is certainly more visually appealing than the stock one but often switches languages while I'm typing (really annoying!).
Thanks for any help
You can get it from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740301
Has anyone else noticed that the look and feel of ICS software and some of the app features are pretty much ripped out of touchwiz? Which is a great compliment to Samsung.
For example...
Sideways scrolling app drawer
Panoramic camera
White background with black writing (reversed from the usual android look in apps)
Hardware key combo to take a screen capture
Customizable dock
Folders on home screen
Resizeable widgets
Music controls on lock screen and notification tray
Respond to a caller by text message
Pinch to zoom in calendar and email app
Just saying...
I'm getting mine on Tuesday so im hoping the user experience is a big enough jump from my SGS2...

Actually a lot of the new features in ICS come from Honeycomb or have been parts of custom ROMs or third-party launchers for ages.
Sideways scrolling app drawer was in Honeycomb.
White BG with black writing - actually Android apps have choices of themes, one of them is "light" which is white background with dark text. Nothing new, they're just pushing brighter, more friendly designs with ICS
Customizable dock - that's been in third-party launchers for ages
Home screen folders - Android has had folders in the launcher for ages, just not as easy to set up as they are now (New folder is an option in the "add to home screen" panel)
Resizable widgets - that was in HC as well, and in 3rd party launchers
Music controls in notification tray - that's available in Honeycomb
Moral of the story: Just because a feature is in an OEM skin doesn't mean they were the ones to come up with it

Interesting. But I think you'll find that touchwiz was out on the original galaxy s much before honeycomb.
Think twice before switching from an S2, that's what I have done today and I am not sure I have done the right thing. Particularly down to the poor camera.
Iwould try to get your hands on one first if you can just to play with.

Oh MAN!! I've ordered one which is due to arrive on Tuesday. Maybe I'll have a play with it and flog it on ebay if I don't like it as much...
I also understand that they haven't borrowed one of the best features of Touchwiz - folders in the app drawer...
Borrowed or not, I do not like the look of TouchWiz at all, but I love Android 4.0.
I personally don't own a touchwiz device but it somehow gives me a very iphoneish impression.

And LauncherPro, GO Launcher, and ADW were out *long* before TouchWiz...and had many of these features.

+1 although its always nice to have a shiny new toy, was getting bored of the S2 after 6 months!
Is there an unofficial way to restore dock backgrounds? I contacted support and was told that feature will no longer be available in the future, but the flat dock is really bad.
I don't understand why all this desire to be homologated without giving the user the possibility of choice.
