Dumb question about Airave - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK, Sprint was nice enough to send me one of these. I got it hooked up last week and can't seem to figure out how to stay connected to the damn thing. It's installed at my office because I'm sorta in a basement and the Sprint signal is really poor, usually about -110 dB. When the phone finally "sees" the Airave, the signal rockets up to around -60 dB, and it stays there. If I then go out, however, and return a few minutes later, I have to wait all over again for it to start working. It sometimes takes one or two hours before it finds the signal. The device is about six feet from my desk, so I know it's not a range issue.
TLDR: How do I get and stay connected to the Airave?

Wifi signal strength really bad :(

I just switched over to an SX66 from an Axim X30 (624Mhz) and loving the converged life.
I've had very few, minor problems but the one that really bothers me is the signal strength of the wifi connection.
In my house, from my bedroom with the Dell, I was able to get a great signal to surf with. However, with the Siemens I don't get connected at all. :x I almost have to be within 20 ft of the router (Belkin) in order to connect and then I do connect. It's not a question of speed, only distance from the router.
Also I was in a hotel last week when I bought the Blue Angel. I had the Axim with me at the time. The Axim had a great signal and I was able to retrieve emails.... The BA did not get any signal.
I am using a sotfware called Wifi companion and use the proper WEP settings but it only connects within 20 feet.
Is this as good as it gets???
Please advise!!
Thanks in advance,
Larry
To some extent, the limited range of the SX66 is due to its design; however, 20 ft sounds a bit extreme. In my experience, the range is a bit better than that -- I've picked my neighbor's WiFi more than once, so that suggests a range of at least 50 ft.
One thing that might help is updating your ROM firmware. Customized SX66-friendly upgrades can be downloaded from http://home.comcast.net/~sx66-blueangel/.
My XDA2s will only pick up the signal from my linksys router in the main rooms of my house. If I go into the conservatory (about 20 feet away) I get nothing. My laptop will pick it up ouside some 30 meters away.
From what I've read in these forums this is about average. Something to do with the antenna position inside the device.
EDIT: Right now I'm sat in my bedroom 5 feet above my wireless router in the room below. My signal strength is 50%.
EDIT 2: I just switched the setings from 'best battery' to 'best performance' and the signal strength dropped to around 33%. Wierd.

Question about avoiding my phone going into Cell Standby

I live in an area with relatively little signal, and I know that's not very smart but yeah. Moving around, and stuck with a contract. I use my phone fairly moderately, with intermittent wifi use. When I go to work, and I'm in an area that has better reception I get around 14 hours out of a full battery and that's great! My issue is, when I'm at home I might get 5 hours out of a battery. It's not a huge issue, but it's still annoying to get up in the morning then have to plug it back up in the morning.
My question is, is their anything I can try that would help? I'm currently running Evo Deck 1.3D, and I've tried multiple kernels to no avail. The only things I have set to sync is my gmail, and I may get 20 emails a day, as well as Google+'s push notifications. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

[Q] At what dBm does your phone become unusable?

I've seen posts that discuss the data issue, but not with detailed meter readings. I've been here with the Epic4g and my Verizon Samsung Droid Charge side by side, both using 3G. Generally, the Charge reads around -98 dBm and the E4G reads around -101 dBm, but they both fluctuate. At almost the same signal strength (and sometimes the exact same) the Charge's data is perfectly usable, fast even, yet the E4G is completely unusable. It will make clear phone calls without dropouts, but data is a no-go. I realize they are different networks, but isn't dBm dBm? I've taken the E4G around to a few areas and i've noticed that data starts to become usable around -91 dBm. I also see it sometimes fluctuate back and forth rapidly from -106 dBm (no bars) to -64 dBm (full bars) sitting totally stationary.
On occasion when i'm in the house (normally around -101 dBm) i'll notice the E4G lose service altogether, and every time it comes back it's at -64 dBm (full bars) for around 5 seconds before reverting back to -101 dBm. So unless the signal meter is giving false readings, this phone is actually capable of great reception???
The reason for the tedious post is that i'm trying to decide if it's worth exchanging for another one. I want to believe that either I got an exceptionally bad one and that the exchange will be worth it, or that the data/reception issue really is software related and will be fixed, therefore making it worth forfeiting my 14 day return period. I bought it through Letstalk.com, so unless I let them hold $600 as ransom money, they won't cross ship an exchange (understandably). This means possibly 2 weeks without a phone which would be really difficult, but worth if it I scored one that functioned even a bit better. I was going to leave Verizon specifically for this device and I really want it to work out.
TIA

Serious wifi issues. Help!

Just moved into a new place. Could barely pick up the wifi upstairs so she put a 2nd router downstairs about 30 ft from my room. And Still.. If I go into my room I barely get a connection but if I stand next to the router I get 50 up 40 down or something like that. Is my phone screwed up or something? This is so annoying.

Poor wifi signal on n5100

So I was getting great wifi signal all 50ft away,
Until I replaced my battery by myself, it was a easy process, it took me 10mins and I was done.
I booted up my tablet and I put it to charge and when I started to use it I saw my wifi signal was very poor,
Like I'm 7ft away from the router and I'm getting 2-3 bars and when I'm in my room, about 22ft away from the router, where i used to get 2-4 bars I'm now getting 0-2 bars. Even right now I'm like 10ft away from the router and I'm getting 0-2 bars and it's pissing me off so bad.
And where is the wifi antenna located on the n5100 because the internet is no help.
I'm running CM13 rom but I never had any internet problems before.
Help me and thanks.
I would try performing a hard factory reset on your device and see if that helps.
