Hello.
What will give best quality of MPEG4, H.263 and H.264 when filming in 720p?
You cannot record with H.264 and H.263 in 720p mode. MPEG4 is your only option.
What will give best quality of MPEG4, H.263 and H.264 when filming in 800x480?
There is no general answer to that question. It depends on the encoding rate. Anyway, since H.263 was meant for less motion and for small bandwidth, I'd say go with H.264. But be warned: H.264 is a very performance hungry codec.

I just realised the the TP2 can record VGA (640x480) video. I played with the camera settings and found that if video recording format is set at MPEG4, the resolution can be set at up to VGA quality. If the recording format is set at H264 or H263, the resolution would only goes up to QVGA.
I would have preferred H264 over MP4. But at least I now know that TP2 can record VGA video. Hopefully future updates of the HTC camera app would add H264 VGA recording.
Are there other MSM7200 devices that can do H.264 at 640x480 at any reasonable framerate? I ask because as I understand it, it's pretty processor intensive to compress that amount of data...

so is this only for the msm7200 or also for the 7201a
Lord_BlackAdder how you do it?? explain please step by step, i already try all the settings in video recording and nothing, only the small resolution, no alternatives to change
hello..
i have a sprint touch pro 2.
i used to have the stock sprint wm6.5 rom installed. and it used to take okay-quality videos.
yesterday, i flashed energy rom, and since then, the quality is so bad. i use the same format (mp4 VGA), but the one on the energyrom is bad. a 10 second video on the sprint rom is around 1+mb.. on energyrom, it's only around 200kb. whats wrong with this?
thanks
What Camera/Video-settings do you use? I know that 720p only works with MPEG4 but what settings do you use with 800x480? H.264, H.263 or MPEG 4? And what settings you use on ISO? Automatic, 800, etc.
What are the best settings for a smooth Video? For 480p and 720p.
Thanks
What are the proper settings for encoding video to MPEG4 for playback on the G2?
height 320?
width 480?
what should the video bitrate be?
what about the audio bitrate?
thanks in advance
Honestly I'm curious also.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using XDA App

try
MPEG-4 (H.264)
1000-1500kbps
800x480 default / 800x340 and 800x334 for wide screen movies, ect.
23.97 or 29.97 fps
aspect ratio should always be "auto" or "keep aspect ratio"
audio.. wouldn't go under 112k
check this thread as well http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1021332
I notice that with cm7 rom when i rec video the bitrate is no more than 2mbs it is possible to make the bitrate bigger ?
Please help i tried to record with lgcamera but the video clips was broken, it's there any chance to improve the quality of video, when i was with android 2.1 i was able to make clips with 640*[email protected]@10mb~!!!
A few weeks ago I decided to use h.265 in every device at home, I managed to reduce videos from 1 GB to 300 MB without sacrificing quality.
So I´m curious if the HTC 10 or HTC U11 are capable of video record with h.265 codec. I know Snapdragon 810, 820, 835 are capable of using H.265 codec.
As far as I know camera takes the video and audio information from media_profiles.xml file. Is it just as simple to copy a preset video and audio config from any other devices as OnePlus 3/3T?, as I see some of forums from OnePlus changing video configuration to use 60FPS with the ported ZSL Google Camera.
