Installation Aborted ROM Manager - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have used Rom Manager numerous times to download and flash new roms. Today I decided I would try the Uncommon Sense rom. I downloaded it through rom manager and when it went to flash the rom this is what I get:
Installing: SDCARD:/clockworkmod/download/www.pcjock.com/uncommon_sense_v11.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E: Can't open /sdcard/uncommon/uncommon_sense_v11.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
/tmp/recovery.log was copied to /sdcard/clockworkmod/recovery.log Please open
ROM Manager to repor the issue.
I tried different roms and get the same error. Any ideas?

Try reloading clockworkmod in rom manager. It fixed it for me

Also try downloading the rom again, have had similar issues in the past

A lot of people have had issues with Rom Manager. I just put the rom zip on the sd card and flash it that way. People have said Rom Manager does not do the wipes correctly.

It looks like ROM Manager finds the ROM in one place then tries to install it from another.
The simple answer is to just install it from recovery from the SDCARD:/clockworkmod/download/www.pcjock.com/ location.

Had the same issue....I reinstalled clockwork recovery and it worked!

Is there logging somewhere to help determine what's causing the issue?
Trying to help a dev add a ROM to ROMManager, but it fails to install every time.
--If I boot to recov. mode, format system/data/cache, remount system, and then install the ROM from zip file on sdcard, it works great (from recov., not from RM).
--If I try to install from ROMManager either from .zip on SD, -OR- via download, both fail.
Keeping in mind that this is on a DroidX, which presents it's own set of challenges...
Looking for a way to better debug this, to help devs of both the ROM and ROMManager... anyone have any advice on where to start?
Edit: I was unable to locate a recovery.log. No *.log in /sdcard/clockworkmod/ at all.

problem installing rom from fresh root

I am trying to install the ozzey ROM on my incredible I just got it and rooted it. I have Rom managr, astro file viewer and titanium backup installed. I know I can do it via update.zip or Rom manager but it always fails and says signature verification failed. I triple checked the file to see that it was in .zip not .zip.zip I had windows show the hidden file extensions. In Rom manager it says whole file verification failed along with signature file. Astro file viewer shows it as update and on the root of the SD card but still get the error. I haven't done nand unlock or backup, and I don't care about looking any apps its a new phone with nothing on it. Any suggestions or method instructions? Does the SD card have to be fat32? My SD card is the 2gb pny card. Thanks!
You should just be able to use the .zip, put it anywhere on your sd card. Boot into Clockwork Recovery (If you flashed the new recovery using reflash.exe from unrevoked), DO A NANDROID BACKUP (this is a full system backup), format the user data and cache partition (both options), select update with a .zip and select your preferred .zip file (in your case ozzeh's)

Any thoughts as to why I am getting those errors? Can I use the re flash tool and go into clockmode recovery and install througt that?
If you do not have clockwork recovery you're not going to be able to flash a ROM. You need to use the reflash tool before you can flash any ROMS.
i have clockwork recovery its on my phone but it still won't flash. Also I tried the reflash but it keeps saying that its interrupted, I uninstalled HTC Sync and it still doesn't work. I also tried to format the sd card to fat32 and ran clockwork recovery but it didnt work same error
It's not clear from your posts exactly what your error is. You say you have Clockworkmod Recovery installed but you keep referencing trying to flash from ROM Manager.
What happens when you boot into Recovery and try to flash the zip file from there?
I instaleld Clockworkmod from ROM Manager, 2.0.1.3 is the verison of clockworkmod I have installed on the phone. I then use ROM Manager to install ROM SD card and it fails, it says signature verification failed and whole-file verification failed. I booted into it and it says it can't find the file in /cache/ and it says verification failed so it aborts and reboots.

You might want to try a different rom and see how it goes.
That makes no sense. You can't flash CWM Recovery from ROM Manager on the Incredible (although you can update a prior install, sort of); you have to use unrevoked's tool.

I thought I remember reading in some thread that ROM Manager going to clockworkmod will not work because there is no write access.
You will have to use recovery reflash tool to install the clockworkmod recovery and boot into it.
You can find that information in this thread:

You can use Rom manager to boot into clockwork recovery and install the zip from there however, you can't use the feature "Install rom from sd card" within rom manager itself.
Well I tried using just ROM manager to boot into clockwork and I was able to but it still gives me the same errors. I can't do the unevoked flash it reboots then says the communications were intruputed. I deleted HTC synch and had the usb on both disk drive connection and HTC synch but it doesn't go through

Did you ever successfully use unrevoked's flash utility? If you just downloaded rom manager and booted in to recovery without successfully flashing, that won't work.
If you're having problems using the reflash tool then I suggest you get that working and then try again installing a rom.
Use terminal emulator to verify u have su.. Just type su and click accept, if u can do that follow word for word unrevoked reflash method, including installing the correct drivers for adb.

i just did terminal emulator and i get root acess, #, superuser comes up and allows me to access it, so I will try again but for some reason I get that communication was interuppted.
hey, thanks to all you guys I finally got the custom ROM to work. I did the revoked flash, i had to delete the old htc driver and start again, and once it finally flashed just mounted the sd card and installed, worked perfectly, thanks again!!

[q] broken recovery?

Hello experienced gurus out there, I am in need of some help tonight.
Here is my scenario:
I started out tonight with a stock rooted INC. I saw the thread for the new Skyraider and thought I would try and install it. I went ahead and pushed the PB31IMG to unroot and go back to bare bones stock. I rebooted and then installed Verizon's OTA as instructed in the thread on how to upgrade the radio. I then removed the PB31IMG from my SD card and installed the Dinc_OTA file to upgrade the radio. That went through fine and I double-checked to make sure the baseband version was correct which it was. Next, I rooted using UNrevoked 3 and then make a Nand backup immediately after. I rebooted the phone and then set up my Google account and downloaded Rom Manager from the Market. I flashed the ClockworkMod from ROM manager and then proceeded to Install ROM from SD card option. It goes into recovery and I see a screen with a red exclamation point and the little Android guy and then I hit vol up + Power to go to the recovery menu. I selected install zip from SD and then selected the Skyraider zip and confirmed installation.
It started going through files and in the end gives me a message that says "Installation aborted"
Here is what it actually says on the screen in its entirety (in case this helps):
ClockworkMod Recovery v2.5.0.1
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:failed to seek /cache/update.zip (Invalid argument)
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
--Installing: SDCARD:SkyRaider2.2Vanilla.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Verifying update package...
E:signature verification failed
Installation aborted.
Thats it...
The first time I tried this, instead of hitting install from SD, I rebooted it to check the system version and then went to ROM manager again. Aas soon as it started it came up with this message that gave three options it seemed. One said "broken" recovery" and I forget what the other said, but it gave a link to email the developer Koush.. something. I clicked where it said broken recovery and then tried installing ROM from SD again in ROM manager. It brought me to the Recovery screen and thats when I went into the Recovery Menu and tried pushing the file from there and then got the installation aborted message that I typed out up there^^^
What should I do? Try to re-install ClockworkMod? Revert back to the old radio and then start from scratch? Anybody in the know please help me.
I reflashed Unrevoked and now SkyRaider IS installing. Just a glitch I guess, although I DID have Superuser before.

[Q] Gapps help

I've installed the latest Cyanogenmod, the latest CWM 3.0.2.4, fixed permissions in the rom manager, and I still cant get the gapps to install. I attempted to install the suggested gapps for cyanogen 7, and no luck.
When I attempt to install it reads:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
When I select to enable signature verification, it then reads it failed signature verification.
The process I use to attempt to install the gapps is, I open the Rom Manager, select reboot into recovery and then install zip file from sd.
I've tried several different versions of the gapps, and still no luck.
I have researched this for the past few hours and I can not get this to work at all. I do have it rooted, everything else installed fine, with no complications. But I am very much stuck at this point. Any help is greatly appreciated.
I figured it out on my own. When you use CWM3, just go to download rom instead of manually doing it.

[Q] CWM - problems installing .zip files

I installed CWM via this method, but when I try and install a zip from my SD card I get the same thing every time:
-- Installing: /sdcard/XperiaTweak_2.zip
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
Installing update...
Installation aborted.
It does the same thing when I try to install link2sd.
It's frustrating because there's no error report, or reason why the intallation was aborted. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong?
r800at 2.3.4, rooted, locked bootloader

Try another recovery or the latest CWM and give a full wipe to your device befire flashing.
You may also get this error if there is any error in your downloaded zip file,so match md5 checksum from the site you downloaded from with your downloaded one.
