[SOLVED] [REC] Help w/ Removing LOC without loosing transparent shade - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can't seem to get this right.. maybe someone will be able to assist.
I had originally flashed the hideLOC.zip found in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=740502&highlight=hideLOC
Then pulled via ADB my framework-res.apk and uploaded it to http://circle.glx.nl/
Got the effect I wanted.. but still no transparency.. then ended up flashing 50%shade.zip from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744256
but now the LOC icon has returned... what am I doing wrong and how do I fix?
I'm trying to make my own update.zip for when I reflash to stock (where I am now... stock 2.2 deodex) I can flash this one file and be done with the ui mods.
I have it attached and a screen cap...
Thanks for any assistance!
****EDIT****
Found a services.jar posted in the 50% thread.... thanks to corywf http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744256&page=3
I have re-uploaded the update.zip for anyone who wants it..

Question: will applying your update.zip file change my current font? If so, may I ask how to customize it using my fonts instead? Thanks!

Yes applying the update.zip will change your font. You can remove it from the zip prior to flashing or follow the link for fonts in the op... This is where I got my font from.
Just drop it in the zip file directly and flash...should be good to go!!

Yup, I just saw that in the zip file. Funny thing though... I replaced your font with mine, but the location icon still appears. I like the green wifi signal bars, but my actual signal seems to have gone down.
Any ideas?

That's weird...that loc icon should be fixed in the services.jar file.. Try a reflash. Haven't noticed anything else odd... Signal strength seems normal here. May have to defer that to another of our skilled peeps here.

Is there one that's not in a rom? Because I really like my rom that I have right now.
Search the EVO forum for Super Circle Battery Mod w/%. Also, see if your ROM is de-odexed. I was able to flash this to my EVO with Fresh 3.3.0.1, which is de-odexed.
(I would link the thread directly, but new accounts can't post links. Find post 17 by lovethyEVO.)
make sure you do a back up, some roms gave me a bootloop using it

Back on topic:
Heres is one I put together and use on my evo. It is the stock theme so if you have a custom one, youll have to send me your framwork-res.apk and i can customise it to work for you.
http://sm.jcink.com/phone/EVO-Battery-Mod.zip
Its 1% increments
100-30%: green
29-15%: orange
15-0%: red
just flash via recov and make a nandroid backup first.
Go here for the Super Circle Battery mod. Follow instructions in the second post - as long as you're running a deodexed rom, you should be fine.

Can you share what goes into making it show each percentage? I have the images and the services.jar files from another framework-res.apk file in my own but still won't work...no boot looping but no percentage # changing.
Thanks

Within the apk, theres 3 XML files you have to change also (2 for decharging and the other for charging).
I made it easy so you can just download them xml files and place in the framework-res/res/drawable/ folder replacing all 3 files.

sorry i hadn't gotten back before. apparently when you post through xda app it doesnt subscribe you so i didnt know you had answered!
i just added your xml files and flashed the apk. no bootlooping, no errors, no complains from the os at all...but now it doesnt show the battery at all! it has an empty space where the battery would be.
the images i have are different from yours (normal battery with percentage in it) but they're named exactly as your images. and i also put your xml files. is your services.jar file connected to the whole process? what would make the battery icon not show up while not giving any errors?
i'm on OMJ v3.1 ODEXED....i know it's supposed to work on a deodexed rom but i'm trying to make it work without changing my rom! I HAD IT WORKING ON THIS ROM BEFORE...then after some update or change I made when i flashed the file back it put my phone to bootloop. so i couldn't use the flashable .zip i was working with before
Idk but if u can figure out how to get rid of the battery on an odexed rom on purpose thats something alot of ppl have been asking for lol still a win for all the stock rom guys that run a percentage app
sent from a pineapple under the sea
that'd be nice and dandy if it would remove the battery and the space where the battery went. but this just removes the image of the battery...but the space is still there. so now between the clock and the signal strength there is an empty space!
i just copy/pasted the same three xml files but from the original apk i used before and same result. no crash, but no battery showing. now i put back the working apk i had, which has the same files but without those three modified xml files and my battery is back.
it only shows percentages for 80, 60, 40, etc...not the intermediate steps, even though the pictures are there.
Guys try this, it has been made easy for all of us.... with choices http://circle.glx.nl/

Issue!! Please look at the picture.

Hello does anyone know how to get rid of the blue color, without doing a full wipe?
http://img339.imageshack.us/i/snap20110104143527.png/
Thanks
try re-downloading your rom, unrar the .zip, open system\framework\ grab the framework-res.apk and push it to /system/framework/ on your device
Thanks for the answer hope it will work. I have tested with a few releases of the oxygen rom and still got this issue. How can i do the framework thing you talked about?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
I did it, it changed the wallpaper but didnt removed my problem. Rebooted and wipe cache and after that got bootloop. Is restoring right now.
Edit: Ok, i think i found out the reason. when i change the resolution in lcd denisty to 180 i get that blue color...hmmm why is that?

[Q] Top Status Bar from silver to black?

Hello,
Anyway of changing the top bar where the time battery and signal notifications are from silver/grey to black?
Loving the phone >)
Thanks
There is, but go to the "Themes/Apps" subject thread under Defy. You may also check out the "Android development" title, the different ROMS and thmes all have a little something you might be looking for.
you will have to flash a framework or theme through recovery
Were you able to find it?

it does change other stuff you have to make your own if you only want the status bar to change.
question asked quite a while ago, but in case you're still looking for this or someone else wonders about it also... here's what I use and suggest:
On this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-923360.html
you can find this:
DarkBar Patch : adlxmod-Defy-Froyo-DarkBarOnly.1-signed.zip
http://www.mediafire.com/?hoiaf7d4na80jl6
It only changes the status bar to a 'blackish' look.
It's not pefect beacause the time display font hasn't been changed to white - but the rest looks ok.
To install this, you'll first need to have root access for your phone and Clockworkmod (CWM) recovery installed.
Then you use CWM to re-boot in recovery mode and then chose the update option and select the .zip file placed on the root directory of your SD card
[I didn't wipe or clear cache] reboot and it's done!

be carefull, me too tried to mod the framework to change the lockscreen (following a guide) and the result was bootloop.
im looking to know this too!
however, if you go into the dev section, there is a rom by iaio72 called s.froyo CEE, it have a theme with a black statusbar like gingerbread, you could try it.
I still beleive that the method I've mentioned at post #8 is easier than flashing a whole ROM...

[Q] Please help !! trouble installing modded battery icon

hi all,
i just started to mess around with theming and tweaking things to my own liking. I am using the latest Virtuous Rom and installed the virtuous patch_mrjuje_power_control.
However i don't like the battery icon ..
SO.. i renamed the framework-res.apk to framework-res.zip, extracted it , edit the .png file for the battery, re-zip then renamed the file back to framework-res.apk and pray to god that it'll work.. but it didn't..
Battery icon is missing so now there's an awkward space there
any help would be appreciated =)
thanks
Lol, this is the first time I've seen something like that.
What I'd advice is that just backup everything and reflash virtuous start over again. Or try pulling the framework zip and re-editing it and pushing it back.

yeah tell me about it, I used that method to change the phone animation because metamorphic always give me "not enough space" errors and I have to restart the app 500times to get it working ==" I pulled the battery image from another rom too and edit some on my own. the only reason I can think of is Virtuous display 1% increment so I need to make an image for every step OR I have to use android sdk to edit the .PNG file (which I have no clue) but I am willing to learn if someone points me to the right direction. I have android sdk setup and ready to go on my MacBook
Or you could use the app "battery indicator" from the market I mean at least as a temporary measure it's pretty good.

[Q] Signal icon request (modification of existing one)

I was wondering if somebody could modify this metamorph for me so it works with my DINC? I'm running Skyraider 4.0 (will be running 4.1 when I get the time to flash it...don't know if there will be much difference between the 2 or not...).
http://www.mediafire.com/?l34p6v7hsq5hhds
I tried using MM as is, but its trying to patch the wrong file I think, so it's not working properly. When I reboot, it just stays my normal signal bars. Wondering if somebody can get it to work?
Thanks in advance, I really appreciate it!
First off, do you you know where the files that you need to change are actually located? If not, where is this current MM theme trying to change them. Depending on the rom, signal bars are usually either located in system/app/SystemUI.apk or system/framework/framework-Res.apk
*It's IncREDible*
Ok, I went ahead and took a look at the theme you wanted. Looks like it was looking to change the files in the framework-res.apk. I changed the theme control file and the name of the file inside the theme. I'll post it here for you to try. Nandroid before you try this. You may get a SystemUI.apk Force Close when you apply this. Either try to get to the reboot menu, or just pull the battery and reboot the phone. Not sure how I can fix force closes, but it seems to happen to all the themes I put together. Dunno why.
Another thing that might need to be changed about this theme, it is only looking to change 5 files. So you may notice that it will show your old signal bars at some moments, and then the new circle signals at others. Let me know if this is the case and I can try to add the files that will need to be changed for all of them. Some ROMs are different so this may take trial and error to get it right for what you are running.
I hope this works for you Good luck.
Haven't tried to apply it yet; haven't had the time. Looked in my system/app folder and I don't see that I have even have a SystemUI.apk in there? Using root explorer to try and view it.
Ok, I downloaded Skyraider 4.1 and looked around for the signal files you want to change. Are you trying to change the 3g icons or the signal icons? It looks like both the signal icon and the 3g icons are located in the framework-res.apk for this particular ROM. So I went ahead and modified the theme again for that ROM. It should hopefully work.
Please let me know if it works and if I can help further.
Ok, tried applying the icon with MM, and rebooted. Didn't work; still has the normal GB signal icon.
And yeah, I'm not trying to replace the 3G icon; just the signal bars.
Hmm. Ok. I'll see if I can just build a MM theme from scratch. Actually, before I do that check one thing for me. Look on your sdcard for a folder named Android Themes. Then look for the folder of the theme we are trying to apply. See what is in that folder. If it is only the XML file. Then I will tell you what you need to do next. If the framework-Res folder is in there and all the icon files are inside that, then I will go ahead a rebuild the theme from scratch. Let me know when you can.
*It's IncREDible*
It has the framework-res folder as well.
It wouldn't be under the htc-resources apk would it?
Ok there are signal icons in the com.htc.resources apk. There are quite a few of them though. Can you take a screenshot and post it so I can see which icons are showing in your status bar? We'll get this figured out.
Using the stock GB icons that came with SR4.1. Here's the screenshot tho:
Edit: Just something that crossed my mind... I think the SD card I'm using is still in FAT, and not FAT32...that wouldn't make a difference, would it? I know it does for flashing, since it has to flash zips from fat32 format; not sure if that matters for MM or not since it's directly modifying the system.
Thanks for the help btw, really appreciate it.
Ok. I fixed the theme last night. I'll upload it later after I get out of school. I figured those were the icons that the ROM was using so that is what I had the theme change.
*It's IncREDible*
Thanks again, I appreciate it! I'll check it out probably after I get home from work, unless I do it over my break or something lol.
Hopefully this works. Let me know.
Just tried it. Applied it, got a some FC's and phone wigged out till I hit the Home button then my UI reloaded. Signal icons were gone totally. Rebooted my phone, still nothing. Shut down totally and turned back on and still no-go. Not sure which files its supposed to be...
Is there some other reference that needs to be changed to tell it to use those files?
Not sure why its not working. You might have better luck using Ninja Morph to change what you want. I made a step by step guide for using it if you wanna try.
*It's IncREDible*
Ok, I downloaded a theme pack for SR4.0, and it is a flashable one that changes both the framework-res.apk and the com.htc.resources.apk
Edit: Checked out another one by ACD168, for 4.1 that does stock icons... and it changes both of them as well.
Edit 2: Ok, I pulled both APK's from my phone, and the images are the modified versions... it must be pulling it from somewhere else then? Or using something else?
Edit 3: ok. Used root explorer to check out the apk's while on my phone, and each one has 2 res folders inside of them... I'm quite confused now... unless I should push them through adb while in recovery so it takes effect?
OK! I Got it to work!
Turns out the files that it was using were in the com.htc.resources.apk, but we were changing the wrong ones. The right ones are:
cdma_sys_4signal_x.png where the x is 0-4. I'm not sure where the null one is (the "no service" icon... i'll have to do some more digging for that one).
If anybody wants the new MM, I can upload it.
I may do some more changing, such as making it into a 6-bar signal one, and maybe changing the color from blue to green to match my other icons.
Glad you got it working. Amazing what you can do when you know where to look and what to change.
*It's IncREDible*
Haha yeah.. Thanks for the help though man, I appreciate it.
No prob. I Googled that theme and found the original thread for it. I think someone made a no signal icon. It might be in green. I know they did the main signal icons in red. That is what I'm using.
