[Q] Help: SD-ext.img not found - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I tried to restore my backup and it says restore complete but it says sd-ext.img not found. Skipping restore of /sd-ext.img
I have an EVO and this was my first attempt to flash a custom ROM. Now when i try to boot the device it just continues to cycle on the HTC EVO 4G white screen. Can anyone help me get the phone back to some working form? Thanks so much

I ran into the same problem tonight. Don't know if I should do a factory reset (if that would even fix it)...or if there's a simple solution to this problem.

evo stuck on white boot loop screen
i have did everything i possibly could evo just keeps going back to white boot loader screen. Initially i was trying to update to new software with a manual update of the pc36 file to sd card did it twice and now my evo is going back to bootloader screen every time i try to factory restore. i should have stayed with my iphone instead of dealing with all the android hassles. any help pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees.

[Q] Desire won't boot anything after unrooting. Only have access to hboot/fastboot

Hi all, I've arranged to have my phone replaced because the trackpad has stopped working so I wanted to unroot the phone before I sent it back. I was on hboot 0.75 and CM6 rom before I tried to unroot. I flashed the RUU_Bravo_HTC_WWE_1.15.405.4_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4.05.00.11_release_122704.exe file from this forum hoping it would take me back to standard 2.1. When I boot the phone I get the white HTC screen for a while before it reboots and shows again for a while...a boot loop I guess. I can get back into hboot/fastboot but going to recovery gives a boot loop like a normal boot. I've since flashed the official froyo update using a goldcard and that seems to be doing the same thing.
Any help anyone can give me would be great...I've hit my limit on trying to fix it and I'm starting to get a bit worried!
Thanks

[Q] Rooted phone

I have a rooted Incredible and I have some issues with it right now, i tried to restore the backup i created and i get an error, i have wipped everything from the phone and i cant get it to reset to factory. Any ways to help out with this?
What issues are you having? If all you did was root the phone and that was all, i highly doubt that the issues are because of root.
i attempted to install vanilla skyraider, i backed up the orginal skyraider and now when i tried to restore the skyraider backup i get a error
Please help me, I have messed up my phone pretty bad. When I rebot my phone it goes through the normal process (Skyraider is the ROM I am using) and after the boot is finished it should proceed to the home screen but instead it takes me to a screen that has the Andoriod Logo and says tough andriod to begin, the catch is when i touch the logo nothing happens. I have attempted to factory reset to aviod the screen but i still get it back! Please help! Im in need!!

You don't have a functioning backup? Then I would try wiping everything (wipe data/factory reset, cache and dalvik cache), re-downloading and flashing the ROM (any of your choice), the file might have been corrupted some how. Good luck
I had a backup and when i went to restore it through clorkworkmod recovery it doesnt work and i dont understand why,

[Q] Unable to restore Incredible to stock 2.2

After messing with a custom ROM downloaded from ROM Manager, I wanted to go back to my original stock 2.2. However, when I went to do the restore of my most recent backup (done before I flashed this most recent ROM) it tells me that the MD5 sum has a mismatch and won't do the restore.
So after doing some research, I try and do a clean restore of the stock 2.2 RUU .zip, but HBOOT tells me that the PB31IMG.zip is out of date and won't do the update.
I have no other backups on my SD card or anywhere else, and I've flashed the phone to a different ROM that was downloaded to my SD card so I at least have a functioning phone. However I want to bring it back to stock in case I have to send the phone to Verizon at some point.
Security is set to S-ON for those who need to know.
Any assistance on this is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

That worked! Restoring my backup now! Thank you!
Ok, after fixing the MD5 error and restoring my backup (and clearing the cache/data/etc) It shows the "HTC Incredible" screen, but then goes black and shows nothing at all. All buttons are unresponsive and a battery pull is necessary to get back into recovery.
What might be happening here?
I've been having the same exact problem. My phone is almost unusable right now after loading a 2.3 ROM onto to it just to see how it worked. I backupped my files and clear my cache before hand, but when I load into HB Boot and click recovery, the phone vibrates, displays the HTC logo, then goes to a black screen with two white bars on the sides. It is unresponsive and requires a battery pull.
I can reboot the phone and get into the 2.3 ROM, but it is slow and buggy. No android market, lots of force closes, and won't load my google account.
I assume the problem has something to do with Clockwork MOD recovery. Any ideas out there?

Actually it does sound like CMR, check the lastest unrevoked rooting thread to get the image and how to install it. This usuallly occurs with the slcd screens. If i'm wrong someone else let me know.
You can go here to get the SLCD recovery: http://www.incredibleforum.com/foru...nly-see-black-screen-white-bars-recovery.html
worked liked a charm. Thanks.

[Q] BRICKED DINC running cyanogen7! please help

So I was running Cyanogen 7.0 for a couple weeks now and have tried a few others. I downloaded it with clockworkmod and everything was fine until I updated it to the newest one and while it was updating my phone died. Now it is just stuck in blue boot screen with the arrow going around and around. I tried Hboot but every one I pick including recovery, clear storage, and factory reset just gets me stuck on Dinc white boot screen. Trackball isn't responsive here so I us power and when I try to boot with up volume or both up and down with power it just vibrates a couple times and doesn't do anything. (I have to pull battery after this to Hboot or boot with stuck C& screen.) Please help! I have been reading so many threads on here and Cyanogens forums and everyone else seems to fix it with recover from hboot or clockwork recover comes up for them. I am very stumped. I have had a rooted captivate, EVO, and tried moto atrix and back to captivate before deciding to try out Dinc (and verizon)
I had that problem a while ago. I recall using the the in revoked program all over again. Hope that helps

the only solution that I would think can work on this case if going back to stock.. since you said you can get in the HBOOT.. you could be able to go back to stock and then reroot you phone again... I was on similar situation once I flash the alternative recover in RM... and I couldnt get to the Recovery and I had to go back to stock by putting the PB31IMG in the HBOOT to get it working..

Download the file and place it on your sdcard once you get to the HBOOT its gonna ask you if you wanna update.. then just vol - for yes and you are good to go...
Similar Problem
I am facing a similar situation with my Incredible. I was running CM7.0.3 when my phone randomly restarted but only got to the white "HTC Incredible" screen before looping over again.. and again..
I have tried loading the stock image (used the files from dougpiston site) as well as others through the HBOOT but I still cannot get past the "HTC Incredible" boot screen.
Is there something that I am missing? Does anyone else have a suggestion? I know it isn't bricked since I can still get to the HBOOT but I just can't seem to get it to boot an image. I did notice it is still "S-Off" if that matters.
If you cannot get into recovery and flashing a recovery from hboot doesn't work, you may need a new phone. This was mentioned in another thread somewhere recently.
Make sure your sd card is formatted to fat32.

[Q] My phone is a paper weight.

Hey folks I have an evo 4g rooted with Revolutionary and I have been trying to fix mms with no luck so I did a sys restore and now once the HTC boot screen loads the next thing I see is a screen with Andriod in white that flashes. I have tried to boot into recovery and I get the same screen. I removed the battery and the same screen. Help please.
You can try to reflash your recovery or run the RUU for your phone
Kept screwing with it and was able to boot into recovery. Thanks.
