What's the difference, between the stock apk and the evos apk. And what about the two camera apks?
What gain would I get by installing the apks

The EVO MMS fixes contact pictures not showing up in the Messages application. The EVO Camera app is the same, except it has an on-screen take-picture button in addition to being able to take a picture with the optical joystick.

Deleting some stock apps have cost me lengthy time in recovery mode, leave em in for the ride.
Use titanium backup to freeze them. Out of sight, out of mind.

yeah, all you can do is disable notifications for it. i just wish that i could hide/remove some of the apps from the "share" function, which i use quite a lot. i'd like to choose which apps are in that view, and in which order. i know its the same in sense 2.0, so we can only hope it comes in a later revision.

+1. I use Handcent as well. Go to stock messaging and disable notifications.

I've used cyanogen since my OG Droid days and delete mms.apk after I install handcent along with email (not gmail), protips, news and weather, car home, etc. Never had an issue.

I did this and tested it and mms can NOT be received. Fortunately I had a TI backup to restore mms.apk from, otherwise I would have had to reinstall CM...
You don't have to reinstall the rom just for one app.. its packaged in, just take mms.apk out of /system/app in the rom download and put it back into /system/app on your phone.

I've been having a issue trying to open my photos lately. I keep getting a icon of a contact peg with a flash/symbol or a lightning of some sort when I attempt to open some pictures. Pictures do show on gallery as normal, but when I open them the look like it's going to show then I see that darn icon. I tried all sorts of photo app to see if its the stock app, but its not.

I have to versions of "Gallery" one is the AOSP version and one is the original, the AOSP seems to stay blank when im trying to view a picture that i receive through SMS. So i want to set the default back to the original Gallery, how would i do this?
Clear the defaults got gallery in application manager.

Hi, I run the latest built (9/26) on my phone.
I'm only getting small MMS pictures when sending/receiving text messages with no way to zoom in. If I save the picture to the SD card and open it with Gallery or a similar app I can see the full sized picture and zoom in and out.
I tried using Handcent, Go SMS Pro and Chomp SMS and set the settings in the apps accordingly to have a full size MMS picture. What am I overlooking here? I can't figure it out.

In the conversation nothing changed, but when I tapped on the picture in the conversation I used to get a full screen picture. Now I only get a really tiny thumbnail.
Just wanted to answer my own question, in case someone else has the same issue.
To update this ROM I mostly used OTA updates for simplicity. Over time I had a few issues piling up. So I decided to do a clean install via CWM etc. And now everything is back to normal again. Hope that helps someone.
Ever since I flashed the prerooted stock rom from xda, my picture messages are both received & sent in slideshow format. My wifes s3 is untouched & does not do this. Her pics come in as a full screen picture & not as a slide show or video format. Is there a setting somewhere I am over looking? A line of code that can change this? Or should I try replacing the messaging apk?
Any help or suggestions are welcome

The only time I get slide show us when it's more than one picture Sent. If it's just one it come in normal. If it's a slide show just long press, hit save and they will go to your gallery where you can view them in their entirety and delete whichever one you don't want.

Yes I have been saving the pics to the memory card to be able to see them.
Mine always comes through as a slide show format even if it is only one picture.
It's pretty annoying......
I know this is not normal behavior, but cannot find a way to correct it......
If I flash a shock messaging apk in place of the existing one, do you think this might help?
The one I have should be stock but came with the stock/rooted rom I downloaded from xda.
What rom are you using? Maybe I can link you to some other sms apps you can try.
