Does anyone know what would need to be done to port this keyboard or make a flashable zip?
I pulled the HTC_IME.apk and Clicker.apk from the Desire HD port that is being worked on right now for the EVO. However, it wont simply install on my phone. I tried removing the Stock HTC_IME and Clicker via Root Explorer. Did a reboot and tried installing the Desire HD apks but it would just say 'Application not installed'.
I pulled the apks from v2 in this thread

Have you tried adb push? I'm not any kind of expert but that usually works when I am trying to install apps that won't install.
I'll give that a shot tonight. Thanks for the input.

[EDIT] Adb push didnt work either. Touch Input doesnt even show up in Language & Keyboard. I'm guessing something needs to be changed within the apks.
Well wish I could help then. Not good at doctoring apks.

Did you change the permissions to match that of the original keyboard. I recently got the 5MP camera working on my Android HD2 by simply changing the permissions using Root Explorer. Just long press the files and tick the appropriate permissions. Hope it works!

Have been unable to get the calibration tool to work with this.
Currently, I am using a theme generated version which works great, but I need to calibrate it to better for how I type.
Using Calibrate FC on me.
I attempted to update the clicker.apk but it won't load.
Anyone run into this, have a fix.

If your rooted and nand unlock, use rootexplorer to move the clicker_hi.apk to /system/app/ make sure you set permissions and reboot your phone, the calibration tool should work.
Did something similar to that... I moved the clicker*.apk (there were two of them) files to and oldapp directory and then I was able to install the new one. No reboot was needed.
Now the keyboard is calibrated to my typing reach and is back to what it was like before the 2.2 update.

Sitting here for hours trying to figure out how to regain my old DINC 2.1 HTC_IME keyboard, without any success. Rooted, w/S-OFF, Froyo (2.2) under Virtuous 2.6. Edit_01: Then, not sure what I did that was different, but I was able to update my HTC_IME keyboard with a "new" version that I created at the gimpsta.com site. So, my DINC (Rooted, w/S-OFF, Froyo (2.2) under Virtuous 2.6) is working without issue.
Before I was successful in loading a new keyboard, and during my research using Root Explorer (RE), I saw that there were a couple of HTC_IME files in the system and cache directories, but RE said they were read only and would not allow me to move or delete them. Krelvinaz, what was your secret? I saw a clicker.apk and HTC_IME.apk files under the phone data and system folders, even though the apps had been uninstalled in Astro Manager and no longer show(ed) in the Language and Keyboard or in the Applications/Manage Applications settings section. There was only one program called HME IME Test listed in Manage Apps during my troubleshooting searches.
At one time, I did try to load a current version of the clicker.apk, but I got an error message. Is there a clicker calibration utility, for the keyboard and how do I load it.

While I did stumble into a successful keyboard installation, I have spent yet more time to figure out how to change permissions in Root Explorer(RE). Not wanting to complicate a working HTC_IME, I tested my RE ability and changed the startup boot mp3 sound in the system directory. So far, so good. However, I am reluctant to delete the clicker.apk, at this time, hoping I might get some knowledgeable feedback about my question on whether there is a calibration utility, for this keyboard. I cannot remember if I actually ran the clicker.apk, way back when I got the phone. I was unable to install it today, because it already exists in the system, and I would need to remove it first. Still hopeful someone might expand on the keyboard and the clicker.apk.
I'm looking to try the new HTC multitouch keyboard but can't find the apk. I'm running cm6. Anyone have a copy or know if it even works? Thanks!
if i knew how to get it from my phone i would get it for you
I was going to pull it for you, but then I saw I was on an odexed stock ROM, and I don't think that'd play nice with CM6.
Edit: If you want to pull it yourself, download the deodexed rooted Froyo OTA from here and unzip it. Go into /system/app/ find htc_ime.apk and then run it on your phone to install it.
I'll pull it. give me a second.

Damn, won't install.... Oh well. Thanks for the upload though! Wonder if it's because it's built around sense.... Who knows. Thanks guys!
has anyone got it working on the desire yet? i have been digging a little around, extracting the stock one, modding the Desire HD one, but nothing... it won't show in the "Inputmethod" dialog.
i have attached the HTC_IME.apk from the Desire hd, this is taken from Ownshere's port could you guys try and work your magic with it
EDIT: and i would just like to give a shout to the team that got the S-off working, so helpful in things like this
Settings > Keyboards then tick the box for it
But how did you even install it? Lol it has the same name as the stock one so cannot install it for me

i tried to delete the HTC_IME.apk, i tried to uninstall the original but that did not work and finally i tried to edit the xml files in the HD one, that did not work either :/
EDIT: Just tried editing it even more... now it can't install, it kicks my phone into a hot restart, then and adb just stops installing :/
Edit2: Creating a update.zip with the one directly extracted from the Desire HD rom, didn't work, nothing showing :/
Edit3: tried a update.zip with my own fail mod. I had to restore backsmali does not seem to decompile right...
I can install it ok using ROM manager, via clockworkmod
but it doesn't show in keyboard settings. I've used the keyboard on the Desire HD Rom, and the big improvement is the addition of cursor direction keys. Would nice to get this running on a more reliable Rom.

up? I'd love it on gingerbread!
Does anyone know how I might be able to port the desire hd browser? I love the pinch to bring up windows feature. I'm currently running Skyraider 3.3. I tried extracting it from the sense hd rom and moving it to system/app but that wouldn't install. I'm sure I'm approaching it from a way too simplistic angle. Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks
I'm not sure if you could do this...
The Desire is running the new sense, so this could be a problem?
Maybe if IncDoes chimes in he would know, or if you want to get ahold of him
Let us know how this goes!
how did you move it to your skyraider rom? if you used root explorer then you need to change permissions and then do a reboot.

Yeah I used Root Explorer. I changed permissions to read/write, moved out the old browser, moved in the new browser, changed permissions back, and finally did a reboot. No browser was recognized so I actually went in and hit install but it said install unsuccessful.
any luck with this?
Try this one. It is from the latest leak and does have pinch.
It is for only a deodexed ROM not stock and will work if pushed to /system/app/ with adb.

Worth a try. I guess it is dependent on something else in the leaked version.

Well it took me a while to figure out how to push with adb. I didn't know you just do it in the tools folder, I thought you ran adb shell first.
I appreciate your help, but it didn't work just immediately force closes.
Thanks anyways.
Unfortunately, I'm not going to be much help, but maybe I can offer a little explanation as to why it wont work..
From what I can tell, most if not all the HTC stuff (widgets, apps, whatever) rely on some values from /system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk. Basically it is all intertwined into a giant mess. As far as I can guess, the only way to get it to work would be to figure out what values the HD browser is looking for but can't find in the stock Inc framework. Then the stock framework would have to be edited, presumably using values from the HD framework. And as you probably guessed, just trying to run the HD framework on an otherwise stock Inc rom will send you into a never-ending boot loop.
I could be way off base, but that's my understanding of it at least.

You are on the money. On top of resources, I believe there may be a few framework classes required to get the new functionality working properly. This will be a cat and mouse game for a while. Certainly not just an apk push. You will need to make a change, log the failure, find out what its looking for, add said resource/class, rinse, and repeat.

I tinkered with it last night on my 2.2 ROM and there are dependencies all over the place. I think I will just move forward with the leaked ROM and tinker in my spare time.
I flashed aloysis 5 over my Sprint lovers Rom and now when I press phone or internet neither work. I don't have a rosie remap utility apk. I don't. Know why this screwed up like this. I keep trying to download pdf files while at work and it fives me warning about wireless networks being charged blah blah. The pdf files will never download. Driving me crazy. If I go out on service call and am not familiar with the control board I can't even download the manual for it. Grrr

Try installing this Rosie Settings.apk. That happened to me before after I was messing around with different themes and rosies, neither rosie button would work. I had to install the rosie settings app, and then it worked fine. You need to use ADB, Root Explorer, or ES file Exploer. If using root explorer, move the apk to the /system/app folder. Then long press on the rosie settings.apk, and select permissions. Make sure that User read and write are both checked. Then reboot the phone, see if it works after that.
If using adb, you would do
adb remount
adb push RosieSettings.apk /system/app
ty. will give this a shot...kinda driving me nutz though...just wanted to theme stock rom up u know...too many weird issues lately...i really appreciate it bro

you're welcome, let me know if it works. What other types of issues have you been having? All from flashing the theme? Are you sure that Aloysius is compatible on sprint lovers? I'm not sure. I think it's based of Myn's, and I'm right on that, then that rosie settings app should work, because myn's rosie needs that app for it to function. Hopefully thats all ya need!
