Everyone seems to prefer minimalist cases like the body glove for the Captivate.
Anyone found a decent flip-style leather case?
Companies like Sena, Vaja and Piel Frama used to make beautiful cases for phones like the Tilt 2 and iPhone but so far they haven't shown any interest in the Captivate.
Found only a few possibilities so far:
http://www.capdase.com/en/product5.php?cid=1&bid=26&mid=1038&pid=7280
http://www.pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_10000000_11001013&products_id=31136
http://www.fortte.com/scr/showproduct.php/1393?type=0
Problem is only one of these says its for the Captivate, rest are for Galaxy S - anyone know how physically different the Galaxy S is from the Captivate? I'm tempted to buy one of the Galaxy S cases but not sure it will fit. Is the ATT version exactly the same?
I'm not sure if it's all exactly the same but size wise i would assume that it would be all similar since all samsung galaxy s line uses 4inch super amoled. not sure if the side controls are located in same space.
Fortte seems to have just released a bunch of styles for the Captivate:
http://www.fortte.com/scr/showcategory3.php/407
I swear they only had one style for the Captivate when I was looking at their site yesterday
Rongvald, thanks for pointing out that the fortte site was updated with new models. The book style looks interesting. Already ordered the PDair flip top, but think I might order this one as well, it looks better made and it would give me one top opening and one side opening design.
I'll let you know how they work when I get them.
the best looking leather cases i found here, but still waiting for them to support captivate.
http://www.noreve.com/index.html
Most cases Droid X & Milestone will work for the Capy. I just so happen to find a cheap leather iphone case at Big Lots for $7 and it has a plastic durable belt clip and magnetic flap enclosure. I use it until I get my Naztech Gladiator II. Then as long as the Naztech fits okay it will be my work holster, and I will use the cheap ipone holster as my dress up or going out holster.
If you look at iphone holster try before you buy as most iphone holster are actually to small. I just got lucky I guess.

Just found this one in Pdair's online store. I have bought several cases from them. The quality is very good. Highly recommend.

Problem with the PDair case is it fits too damn tight. It requires a lot of force to get the phone in and out. If there is any dirt or grit I get the feeling I am essentially sanding the surface of the phone each time I take it out or put it in.
This isn't a problem if you intend to put the phone in and leave it there. But I can't do that, because I need to take it out to put it in my car dock and to put it in my desktop stand.
I had a Piel-Frama flip case for my tilt 2 which I would put on and off for the car dock and it fit just right, no friction. The PDair case for the Captivate fits like its one size too small in my opinion. Of course it may loosen up with time as it is made of leather.
I have chosen to go the silicone case (galaxy S official samsung - body glove style) and put the phone with the silicone case into a verizon droid X leather pouch case. The fit with the silicone glove is so perfect it looks like it was designed for the captivate. Now when I take the phone out of the leather case and pop it into the car dock, it is still protected.
I am still exploring the flip case option, might go with one of the fortte cases, they look very nice, but I am hoping that one of the premium leather companies will eventualy produce a case that fits perfect and protects well.

I bought this case after trying out the Otterbox Commuter & Incipio Feather. I still have them, but don't use them as much as the Commuter gathers dust easily & the Feather doesn't afford too much protection. A good compromise is the Body Glove Snap On case with Kick Stand. It's a solid case with a rubbery, textured material that doesn't attract dust. The grip is solid and the case appears well built, just like the Commuter. In fact, I suspect that this case may be able to do a better job than the Commuter for protection against drops and knocks.
It's more than just a case, as it comes with an adjustable Kick Stand, which allows the phone to stand upright or slanted on it's own (portrait & landscape). The stand is built into the rotating clip, so you don't have to worry about losing separate parts of a multi-purpose accessory. The kick stand allows for multiple viewing angles in portrait mode and 2 angles in landscape. The clip is also well built, and "clicks" into various positions solidly. The Clip can be mounted and released quickly. The knob for the clip can be removed and the hole is covered up by a supplied accessory, for a low profile look. Hence, this case is quite versatile in it's use.
I would say that the Body Case is slightly less bulkier than the Otterbox Commuter and bulkier than the Incipio Feather. It's a substantial case like the Commuter, so it may not be suited for folks looking for an ultra low profile look. Putting the case together is quite easy. Taking it apart is difficult on first try, but becomes quite easy after some practise, once you figure out the points to pivot your fingernail from.
All in all, quite a good case that looks sharp; has a low profile (for a tough case); well built & has a great grip with a built-in kick stand. Pictures:

To bad you need to use a belt clip to use it with the kickstand.

CASES
I usually buy a lot of different cases for every phone I own. I had a body glove case for a previous phone and tore it apart trying to get it off the phone. I now have the Feather case for my Atrix and like it since it has such a low profile. Wish i could find a similar case without the rubbery texture. I had one such case for my Captivate that i liked a lot...it was my favorite case though it scratched very easilly.....Thanks for the great pictures of the body glove case.
thats pretty cool case, it would be nice to see it look like carbon fiber instead. I'm a big fan of that.
I like the Body glove mirage case.
Nice case. I echo the sentiment that sucks that the kickstand has to be with belt clip on only. But the Body Glove case for the Captivate was nice, I am sure this one is no different quality wise.
Otterbox defender also has a kick stand
I'd like a kickstand but that design doesn't tempt me at all. Considering how easy it (seems like it) would be to just make a replacement for the stock back cover, I think there could be a lot of clean looking "cases" for this phone. I know it would be more difficult than the cases that just fit around, but still seems like there would be enough demand to justify it.
body glove
What bothers me is the difficulty of removing the cover to change batteries. I had a body glove case in the past and destroyed the cover trying to take it off it was so tight and hard to get off. Also, this case has no protection for the earphone and sides jacks so dirt and dust could do damage in the long run. Having said that I do like the looks of the case and the kickstand which looks very sturdy.
I have a commuter case that I like a lot. All the ports are covered and it offers good protection. I just took one of those $2.50 collapsing clips off ebay, trimmed it downed and epoxied it to the back of the commuter which may work great....its drying now.
I also have on of those metal cases that has a clip that works great as a kickstand. The case itself looks good (black metal) but not good protection for the phone if dropped and not comfortable to hold in your hand.
Overall the Otterbox cases offer the best protection.....the defender and commuter.
In the meantime the new android phones coming out offering faster processors and larger screens may make this a moot point in the future.
i have this same one but i dont use it much makes my phone feel heavy evan though its prolly less than a pound lol

Agreed, looks very cheap.
I have always used a Leather pouch with a belt clip (maybe I like the idea of a Batman utility belt...). I have found some really nice pocket cases but I have looked ever ware and can't find one that is basically a belt pouch.
I don't like a case around my phone because I think the Raw phone looks much sexier. I kinda feel like there is hundreds of thousands of dollars spent to make new phone the sexiest looking technology out there then we put them in a rubber/leather shell... just my view. The main reason is I keep my Wallet in one front pocket and my keys in the other...
Seeing as there has not even been one reply I'm starting to think there is none...

You could look for similar sized phones, iPhone 4 maybe?
I only have my phone here, so I can't really search for you, but I guess it's worth a try.
Good luck!
I have this one : http://pdair.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=10100000_10000000_11001206&products_id=32475
How would one attach this to a belt. If it's not to tight you might make two cuts in it and slip your belt in it. But it's not too practical, beautiful, or safe. I'd look for a HTC Sensation one, or an Atrix one perhaps.
EDIT

Thanks, at least I know know there are some out there!
During the mean time I have been using a cheep rubber skin, and I have been finding that phone feels better in the hand if it's in a skin. So now I might be looking for a case that will fit the phone wile it's in a skin... might have to do some local shopping for that... Or something like the one "Flowlance" linked might work for me too.
Got one! I walked to every store and booth in my local mall (did you know your can buy things in the real world not just online! I didn't...) and there was almost none then I found the Indian Cell Booth... (that is not the name. There only ever Pakistani people working there...) and they had 1 witch I think is suppose to be for a PDA but it was freaking huge! witch means it was a good fit...
And I can use this one with my Skin still on the phone! So now if I drop it when using it, I'm safe. and if I'm not using the belt clip (because who likes to ware pants at home...) I'm still safe for laying it around! Here are the pics..

Rotating Clip Seems strong, time will tell...
Magnetic flap.
I got my Galaxy S2 a couple of days ago and had the same problem. Having punted around online for a while I grabbed the case that my Touch HD was in, the one that originally came with my Tytn, and voila, it fits.
I have not got this * PDAir * horizontal belt clip, but I have the same make that I bought for my much loved HTC HD2. The SGS2 fits fine in that pouch, so I don't know if I'll get the one specifically for the SGS2.
My 18 month old HD2 looks like it just came out of the shop.
How about this!
Got this holster from the mail a few days back, nice fit with my Zenus Monochrom Case, so should fit the S2 with a normal TPU/silicone case.

PS
The Zenus case quality isnt top notch, theres a hairline crack appearing less than a month of usage.
Son of a *****! Well Time did tell, I haven't even had my case for 5 days and the clip broke! Sat in a chair with arms and the plastic clip (witch I though would have trouble) snapped off because the phone hit the chair arm... I looked all over town for that stupid case! and it was the only one no returns...
I'll have to see if I can modify it with a better clip. Or become one of those people that carry there wallet in there back pocket...
You might like the "Krusell Orbit Flex for Samsung Galaxy S II".
Oddly, the company's web site does not post any pictures, which is really a shame because it's a great case. Google for pictures! In short:
1. Rotating belt clip, which is also removable. You can take it out and still keep the phone in the case (in order to fit a shirt pocket, for example). The fitting for the clip can take other accessories (from the manufacturer) - check it out.
2. Removable front flap, so you can have it in your belt with only the back cover in place. With "soft" magnetic clip.
3. Cut-outs in all applicable places.
I bought it before my S2 (!) and been using it ever since.

Hello
Does somebody know for a vertical leather case with a belt clip for s2 which would fit case-mate tough case?
I bought one similar to this one www.ebay.com/itm/VB4-Leather-Belt-P..._MobilePhonesCasesPouches&hash=item3cb80c160c and it is just too small (phone with tough case goes inside but very tight and it is not possible to close it).
I was searching for infuse cases and found one that i like www.ebay.com/itm/Flip-Case-Samsung-...052944?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item25675ec0d0 . Would it fit S2 with tough case? Does somebody know if and where it's possibly to buy this in Europe?
Would you suggest any other leather belt case?

Try the Verizon Droid x (or x2) holster. That works very well with the SGS2. It may have some wiggle room to fit it with a case as well.

The current best flip cases for any galaxy note I guess.
It also doubles as a light wallet.

Just what I was after, only I've already bought a separate stand and case now.
That's what I'm looking for as well -- protection, wallet, and stand all in one classy package!
Unfortunately I already ordered an Easecase leather case/wallet. It won't have the flap this one does, but at least it won't get in the way of the camera for quick pic taking...

They look pretty but I generally don't recomment flip cases with card compartment inside as they'll leave annoying marks on the screen.
I am intersted in the carbon one but it uses a magnetic clip and after so much discusion on it I am becoming paranoid.
for features i want the ostrich, but only features, gawd its sooo ugly, not even and good colors, i would almost prefer alligator or something, BUT it has no dumb magnetic clasp, that would needed to be folded back to prevent it from interfearing with the screen all the time, and it has an earpiece cut out!! that would be a DEF in my book for any flip cover, sooo, i dont know, its a lot of money for a pimply cover

How do you know it uses magnetic?
Adding the VERUS brand to this topic. Similar cases.
I had once one of theirs for S2 (J style leather with no flip) the quality was medium at best, because the leather is stuck to a plate of plastic by some gum, and over 2 months most of the gum of corners just goes away and reveals the edges of the black plastic plate in an ugly fashion. So unless you take the BLACK color (so the edges worning off won't be noticable I'd be cautious with this brand if I were you. But it's quite cheap.
But I may be mistaken since it happened on a red S2 one without a flip, maybe they fixed the issue, or maybe the flip will protect the leather gummy insertion from pocket friction.

Another funny cover with kickstand I found http://cgi.ebay.fr/Folid-Stand-Leat...740?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3f10e5037c
Ordered a black VERUS one because :
- cheaper
- no latch
- covers front (screenbreaking corners) and back corners in case it falls opened (zenus only does the back corners)
Will post a vidéo review of it in two weeks when I recieve it.

ClassicK uses magnets isn't it?
Looks like only the versus K protects the corners of the phone.
Most of the cases out there for the note leave the 4 corners exposed, they are the most likely to first impact the ground when you drop the phone. Those looking for cases for their notes need to find cases that also cover/protect the corners of the phone.
Just my 2 cents from past experiences.

For those who bought or ordered zenus diary case, don't forget to check if s pen works properly with magnet in case. In Korea one user found out that there is dead zone when using s pen due to interference from magnet and manufacturer knows that and asking users to return and get fixed one.
They said they almost collected cases which have the issue but who knows.

Body Glove Dimensions Case from AT&T store. Retail is $30 but you can get it for around $20 online or around $20 if they are nice enough to give you a discount at the store..
The feel is a bit slippery but not as slippery as the phone with no case you can grip this with a solid firm grip on the sides and it has a feel like you won't drop it. The softness is not soft but not hard. I would say it's in between soft and hard.
It doesn't attract link/dust so no need to worry about that. The only color I have seen so far is gray. As for the ports - The opening for the usb connection is nice. I can still plug my logitech cable into it and that's a largely sized cable that charges my G700. That's the cable I use for my pc when the mouse isn't charging. The power/volume rocker holes are nice too. I don't like case that cover the actual buttons and this feels similar to the Incipio feather case openings imo.
On to the pics.

Nice tight fit. The edges don't bow at all. It's really a solid all around case.
I too bought this case and like the Body Glove I had for my Captivate it fits pretty good and is really tight on the phone. I tried several cases on at the AT&T store and this one seems to keep the phone the slimist while protecting all the edges of the phone.

I also had a Body Glove on my Captivate and loved it. However, the Body Glove for the GS3 is not the same. It's thinner and a bit harder. Also, it tends to lift the edges of my screen protector.
I have this case and two of the cheaper fosman/cimo s-line type cases and this feels way better and slimmer. This one is just 5 times the price... but worth it.

I did a mini review on the case mate too. I got the brushed aluminum one though. Both are nice cases.
Picked up the body glove dimensions tpu case in grey for $20 from Smartphonepedia. Shipping was quick and no issues with the order. This is my third case. The other two are the Incipio Feather and the Incipio Silicrylic. If you're looking for a TPU case with open cut outs, good fit, excellent grip and a decent raised lip on the face of the phone, this is a good choice.
I don't use a screen protector so can't comment on how it might interfere. The grip on the sides is the best I have seen on a case, it seems they really gave some thought to this design.
The feather is by far the best as far as feel goes but provides not much drop protection for the front, top or bottom.

The Long Version
I ordered mine off of Amazon (for about $15 less than what Trident sells it for). I was under the impression that my product would be manufactured in the USA, given that Trident makes a big deal about that on their website. It came in Trident-branded retail packaging, but was clearly labeled "Made In China" on the back.
The case is a thin TPU, surrounded by a hardened silicone border (with reinforced corners). The frame for the top is hard plastic (TPU?), and comes with a glued-in plastic screen protector. Once in the case, the phone is exactly the same size as the Galaxy S4, only slightly thicker. The screen is still manageable, and the heft is not too outrageous, considering that it probably offers a decent amount of protection.
Pros
Reinforced corners
Rigid support
Easy to install
Buttons become larger and clickier
Screen protector does not cover the proximity sensor
Microphone and USB port covers
Dust filter for the speaker grill
Physical design is much more attractive and less bulky than what you'd find with an Otterbox case
Cons
So long, Moto Maker design...
The top portion of my case would not seal / seat properly (defective design?)
The silicone (as expected) grips to cloth
You lose the beautiful industrial design of the Moto X in a bulkier case
The port cover flaps are a little annoying to work around (and don't insert securely enough for my preference)
The case is difficult to remove (but much easier to remove than the Otterbox Defender)
Build materials are not as high-end as those found in an Otterbox case
Summary
I contacted Trident, asking if this case has any known manufacturing flaws, in regards to the top portion of the case being off in their measurements. To describe the problem: on the left and right of the headphone jack flap, there are two tabs that are meant to lock into the top portion of the case. Mine do not lock, and there is a large gap between the case and the phone. If you touch the top portion of the case, it makes a displeasing clicking sound. The answer I got back was, "Oh, sorry your case isn't working out. We can RMA it." But then, I don't want to continue sending in the case, only to receive similarly defective units. Basically, I worry that in a hard spill, not having that top portion of the case secured shut, could send your phone flying.
If you could try this case out in a store, and it fits perfectly, I'd say that it's a great case for someone who is worried about a hard drop, but finds the Otterbox Defender to be comically large and ugly. This case is actually surprisingly slim, given the protection it offers. So if it all worked as it should, I would be keeping it. But seeing that the snaps are not only off in measurement - but also - seem like they are structurally inefficient, I'm going to assume that this is simply a design flaw. Perhaps they designed the case without having access to the device?
I might try grabbing a second one. I'm unsure, though. Has anyone else used this case at all?

I just got the Trident Kraken AMS last night as an early Xmas gift. Ive had very good results with Trident products in the past and this case is solid. On the Kraken the front is the same as Cyclops but its a 3 piece rather than 2 and bulkier. Its not a daily use case though, I have a bike mount system for mountain biking. If you don't mind the extra bulk get the Kraken. My daily case is a TPU.
