This is not exactly a question for my Desire, but some of the photos I took with it are half rendered when I open them in Windows 7 photo viewer or windows media center - see attached photos.
Since I've installed windows 7 couple of weeks ago, this is my first time viewing new images with it. Old photos that I have do not have any problem.
The problematic images looks ok on my desire. I've copied them also to my laptop, which runs windows xp, and they are shown corectly. I've tried even to copy them from my laptop to a usb thumbdrive and then to my Windows 7 desktop and again some images have this problem. The weird part is that everytime I try to copy those images, different ones have this problem.
I also have some photos taken with different cameras and when I copy them from my laptop to my Windows 7 desktop, the problem appears again.
Any help will be appreciated.
Those images seems to be corrupted to me. I have experienced this when the photos were corrupted.
Why dont you try to send one of those pictures to yourself from the device by email, and then download it on the PC?
The same images are ok on the desire and on my laptop, so the is no problems with the photos.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Try a different image viewer?

Also noticed the same bug, while uploading the pictures on Picasa tool. I just uploaded again and it worked fine. Seems to be a problem with transfer that gets the files corrupted. Try to download manually the pictures from the phone to PC and then import to any editing tool you like.

I have an external gps that has worked great with my phone. I've recently tried http://trackr.nl and it can accurately capture my tracks as well. It says that it can supposedly geotag your pictures, but it doesn't worked for me. I've also tried http://shozu.com and it says that it can geotag, but apparently that option isn't available for Windows Mobile Standard smartphones. So I also tried http://locr.com (it would error out when I tried launching.)
I'm interested in an application that can geotag my photo when taken, so that when I upload it to Flickr using Shozu or some program like that, it will be automatically geotagged.
Has anyone found the best application for this? I know there are programs where you can first copy them over to your PC, then run some program that will compare it to your trail log and sync it with your date/time stamps on your photos. But I was hoping for something that would skip the PC.
Thank you,
Tim
Hi
Despite being with Android for about 3 years I still haven't found an adequate sync solution, mostly for photos and videos. Can anyone help?
What I want is to connect my phone to my laptop, which is a mac. I don't mind if the connection is USB, wifi or bluetooth. USB is more flexible, there are times when I can't get both devices onto the same wifi connection.
I want the software to look at my photo archive on my laptop, and copy over any new files. It just needs to look at a date - if there are new files since the last time I synced, I want it to copy them.
Even better, though not essential, would be if it didn't mind whether I'd deleted or moved files from the laptop. It wouldn't look backwards, just see that the last sync was 22nd July and then copy any files since then regardless of whether the photos from 20th July had been deleted from the laptop but where still on the phone. This makes it easier to sort photos once they're on my hard drive.
I've tried Cheetah Sync, which works ok but only over wifi. If I'm travelling, there may not be a wifi connection. It also copies over everything - so if a photo has been deleted on the laptop, it's replaced again.
dropbox will sync photos and videos automatically

Oh, ok. I'll have a look.
EDIT - I came across a new app called CloudVault, which uploads photos to GDrive as you take them or when you're next on Wifi. Pretty good solution for me.
Ever since I got my S3 a few weeks ago when I look at the DCIM photo folder I don't get a thumbnail image of my photos or videos. This makes it very difficult to pull photos from my phone to my computer because I can't see what the photo is till its copied to my desktop. Anyone have any idea why its doing this or a fix for it?
With Windows 7 the only way to see thumbnails is to use Kies or remove your SDCard and mount it directly (assuming you are saving images to your card). Even though the MTP protocol supports thumbnails, Microsoft's implementation of it in Win7 doesn't. Whats weird is that even with the custom rom I use *Frosty I'm not able to see the thumbnails but when I changed to Ktoonez Kernel I was able view thumbnails, no clue why.
Search broken again??
Removing your SDcard and inserting it into your PC is probably the simplest solution other than using Kies. But if you don't want to hassle with taking of your case (if you have one) then you could try connecting it as a camera instead of MTP. If that doesn't work, you could use your cloud service of choice and manually upload the photos and access the cloud from your PC. Just my 2 cents, sorry if it was too common sense.
Thanks for the tips. I guess I was just used to my NexusS not doing this so I thought something was wrong with my S3 when it wouldn't show any thumbnails when looking at my photo folders. I figured out the Kies thing last night by chance when I was seeing what that did but I don't want to load extra software on my work PC. I guess I'll stick with moving them from my picasa instant upload folder to my PC.
I have a G3 and love it. Pictures I take open find on the phone but if I copy them to my windows 8 pc I can't open them or preview them.
I Windows Photo Viewer I get the following error msg "Windows Photo Viewer can't open this pictures because either Photo Viewer doesn't support this file format, or you don't have the latest updates to Photo Viewer.
I have never seen this error with any pictures or any other phone before the g3.
Please help.
I take it by the lack of responses that I am the only one to experience this problem and so, probably have a defective phone?
What is the file extension of the photos you are trying to view?
Try sending those photos to a drferent computer and if it opens then it is ypu pc.
The pictures are jpg. Here is the odd thing. If I email it to myself on the same pc it opens fine. However, I cannot open it and get the error message if I try to open it from my pc while the phone is connected OR if I copy the file from the phone directly to the pc using a usb cable.
I'm having exactly the same problem since upgrading to Marshmallow on a Nexus 5 (or could be the Gallery app?). Any solutions out there?
Hi people.
I recently bought a 64gb MSD card from eBay, and I had set the photos to be storaged at the external storage. Besides that I'm running Android 6.01
The problem is, last night I attended a wedding where I shot some pictures, and during last night I could see in the gallery that when I started taking the pictures, the pictures in the gallery was in the beginning there, however, soon after the gallery would say the pictures format was unrecognizable (WTF?), and the pictures would go missing from the phone. I've tried using the storage handling, which is provided by android. And I'm not able to see the picture. I've tried downloading ASTRO, and get it to show the hidden files. No luck either. I've tried erasing the .nomedia file from the MSD, still nothing.
I've tried here, the morning after to take a new photo, and I can see it's supposed to be saved at storage/emulated/o/DCIM/100media, So I've gone there by the USB port on my desktop, and I still can't see the pictures. I've been through every bloody folder on the storage without any result (And yes, I've tried installing the HTC app for desktops )
If you people have any idea how to get a hold of the pictures (If they are still there?), it would greatly appreciated!
