[Q] Estonian keyboard - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I recently turned over to the dark side and got a Galaxy S, so I gave my HTC Desire to my gf. She is Estonian (I bought her from a web page) and she would like an Estonian keyboard for the desire.
So, does such a thing exist? (I mean the T9 thingy)

Lol I guess not.
With regards to your question, I don't think a keyboard exists for that.

RMA gf for compatible version with your phone or give try to Scandinavian keyboard mod from google-code.

[Q] Languages

Hi
I live in Norway and I'm thinking of ordering a Galaxy Nexus from the UK.
The phone is delayed in Norway due to the wait for a Norwegian language pack.
Samsung Norway also said that you cannot install a the language pack on a non-Norwegian device.
My question is: Is there a Norwegian keyboard layout on the UK version of Nexus?
I'm used to installing roms on my G1 and Desire, so I guess it wont be a problem in the long run.
Thanks!
Yeah there is an option for Norwegian keyboard. There seems to be an option to change the system language to Norwegian too.

Yep.
The line about being delayed because of the norwegian language pack seems untrustworthy, it's an AOSP build, there is nothing extra that Samsung needs to translate. Besides, no need to delay the phone in the entire scandinavia, and as it look like, a good chunk of mainland europe as well, if something was "wrong" with the translation.
Thanks for a super fast reply!
Just ordered it from UK!

I was planning on waiting till early Desember, but Elkjøp (Elgiganten?) pushed the date forward a couple of days, so I'm not trusting the dates!
Besides, my Desire broke a couple of days ago, so I'm borrowing a Hero, and I kind of hate it!

[Q] I want to switch my dictionary to swedish but its not available?

I've recently bought my GN from a local internet shop, it came with the swedish keyboard and system and everything but its only missing the swedish t9 dictionary. My question is if I need to wait for google to update the list of their dictionaries so that it includes swedish or is there something else I can do?
Any help is appreciated
I'm also curious about this and how things will be for my Galaxy Nexus once it arrives, although for Norway and Norwegian dictionaries.
Supposedly the Norwegian launch date was delayed (by about a month) to accommodate regional customization deemed required, so I hope this includes Norwegian dictionaries and corrections
I'll let you know if my "Norwegian" model is any better.
Yeah samsung gave me the same story except that they would be shipping the phones this week. I went ahead and asked a store part of a big chain here and they said they would start selling around the 9th. Im keeping my fingers crossed for an easy fix
According to the swedish samsung facebook page the new swedish dictionary for the swedish version of the phone is ready when they are sold. Im still not getting anything when I update the languages on my phone. Seems kind of annoying that they wouldnt make it available to everyone if it indeed was ready to be used.
Any idea where to go from here?
Samsung Norway has said that the Scandinavian release was pushed back due to dictionary issues and it wouldn't be available outside of Scandinavia in a later update.. just saying

NO: http://www.amobil.no/artikler/samsung_galaxy_nexus_utsatt_til_desember/103496
Aw. I could return the one I have and buy another one but why do we have to go through the hassle to get a simple dictionary.
Well I bought mine here in Denmark two days ago and there are no danish dictionary either
Just an off track question to you Scandinavian Galaxy Nexus owners; does your screenshot function work?

Where did you buy yours ?
btw. the problem can easily be solved by installing an third party keyboard like swiftkey also it should be easy to locate the dictionary and extract it (only guess)
http://www.mobiloutlet-381.com/
They've been selling it for like 2 weeks and I was craving this phone so bad. Also got it pretty cheap compared to other stores. Yeah I started using swiftkey just now and I feel like im not even missing out . It will do just fine till we get some clear answers
My screenshot works just fine! Are you using yours right?
The question was actually to El Norupz
If you got it 2 weeks ago its definitely parallel import so its not from Samsung Sweden and therefore without the dictionary
Yea and swiftkey is great

Just chatted with this nice lady from 3, she called Samsung and they confirmed that there is NO danish dictionary on the Nexus... a personal guess is that it will be the same for all Scandinavian languages
They promised her to look into it and she will contact me when she knows if they will update it later on :/

I can tell you that the Swedish phones (that according to Samsung were delayed due to language customizations, adding of languages and such)... do not have Swedish dictionary as it seems. (Got mine today and it has swedish keyboard and system language but no dictionary)
This whole launch is getting more ridiculous every day :/

2x wth
My Norwegian model is still delayed (from last week, to 15th, to "indefinite"). Hopefully it will be fully funtional once it arrives, as a phone for Norwegians, or I'm returning it for a Galaxy Note.

Just got a One X in the States. Impressions/hands-on

I just got the One X, thanks for the help on the language!
Anyway. A video will come shortly but here are my initial impressions:
This thing is LIGHT. I'm coming from a Galaxy Nexus and then iPhone 4S. The HTC One X is lighter than both of those.
The build quality is much better than the Nexus. It's solid. There's no creaking or blemishes anywhere on the device.
Sense 4 is much more lightweight than previous versions. Either that, or the quad-core really speeds everything up.
I did not adjust any data settings on the phone and it connected to the AT&T network, though speedtest was unable to run I did download an item and loaded a webpage.
I really like the lockscreen.
You cannot uninstall 7Digital, SoundHound, Tune-In, etc. You can only disable them. A bit disappointed in that because Soundhound and TuneIn are apps I have the premium versions of.
All in all, a great first few hours getting everything setup. I'm as excited for this phone as I've been for any android phone since the EVO.
UPDATE: Here's the link to the video look: http://youtu.be/bVLUhiQGJEE
Sounds like a life changing decision lol

Nice video, Derek!
just got my one x in the states as well. So far very nice. I was having a bit of trouble getting a constant ATT data connection. It kept flipping between 3g and H and couldn't pull any data. It seems to have started working. I just popped my iPhone microsim into the phone. It seems to be working now, but I wander if I need to call ATT and change phone plans. Anyone know?

TYping on mine now ! - Arrived about an hour ago. Not as good as the Transformer Prime keyboard is my first impression, but it does keep the tab at a nice angle. Need to find away to stop the soft keyboard popping up though, thats really annoying.
Mine arrived this morning. Not bad at all seen as though I am in Holland and I ordered it from the UK around 17:00 yesterday.
Oh, and it visited Brussels on its way to me.
Unfortunately it has been delivered with a less than attached space bar, so I need to arrange a replacement.

I've been waiting for this, but it looks like its already sold out.
Where are you located, and what's that store's ETA for delivery? From what I can tell on their website, they're located in the UK. I'm hoping for a US supplier of the keyboard so I don't have to wait a month and pay 2x the keyboard price to have it shipped.

It might well be worth waiting for a keyboard from the US which will have a familiar layout, rather than having to deal with the different layout of Keys on a UK spec one - take it from someone who has to use Swiss-German at work and UK at home :-&

shiiiiiiit (said in clay davis voice) what is the difference between a UK/US keyboard layout? they never mention that it is the UK version on the link i bought it from that i can find. after they sent me the shipping info though they are obviously based in the UK, which also explains the higher price.

you can probably adjust the Settings>Language and input to appropriate language - I did this on my apple keyboard, I think the @ and " keys were mixed, fixed when I switched from Australia to USA input.
a blue-tooth keyboard is much better than a dock, specially when combine with OTG usb for a mouse, or charging, am i right?

Not if you enter any secure data. Bluetooth keyboards are banned at my employer because all of your keyboard input can be easily sniffed from a surprisingly long distance away. Plus, I don't want more batteries to worry about. The Samsung keyboard dock lets you charge while using the keyboard. I hope to hack it up a bit and embed a USB hub into it as well.

I heard someone was able to root your phone using the same method from some other phone but found problems. If you can root your phone then you can overrode the system language.
If it's Gingerbread you can use an app called MoreLocale 2. You can download it for free on Google Play Store
