[Q] 16gb microSDHC - Vibrant Accessories

Does anyone know any good places to get some good quality ones for a good price ? thanks in advance

I always find that amazon is almost always cheapest for new

WoW....that site for real? Those prices are great...$60 bucks for a 16gb Class 6? That's crazy good deal.

Yeah, I've seen some decent deals on 8 gig cards around. But there is a big jump in price when you go up to 16 gig, especially above class 2. So the prices on that site are great in that respect.

But, for most of the stuff you'd put on the card (music, pics, docs), a class 2 is more than sufficient. Spending a lot of extra money on a class 6 might not be needed (unless you swap out your music collection pretty frequently).
It's not like with the G1 where we were using the SD card as swap and speed was critical.

I agree... with the on board memory as high as it is on the samvib, if you want to watch a movie just transfer it to your internal memory card and keep pics and music on the external. the movies im not watching at the moment i leave them on the ext sd card.

What brand Class 6 SD card?

What brand of Class 6 SD card should I buy? I see TOPRAM, Transcend, and Nokia but not popular ones like Kingston and Sandisk..
According to this it says Class 2 SD cards might as well be as good as Class 6.
http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies-archive.cfm/1468705.html
Class 2's performance-price ratio might be higher than Class 6. But only considering performance, I prefer Class 6.
I have a transcend Class 6, 8gb I got for $20 online and it works perfect.
Class 6...meh...you need 16gb Kingston Class 10. That is if your device can handle it.
~Jasecloud4
lol i have a mytouch 3g right now..don't think my device can handle it
I am also looking for a 16 gb class 6 sd card but don't wanna pay an arm and leg for. Any recommendations?

Nah I haven't gotten one yet. I think Im going to buy a mytouch slide before I decide to buy an SD card. My Mytouch isn't too powerful to begin with.
Consider that the Sandisk cards may have a longer lifespan and be more reliable, which is a major plus point if you're going to be using the camera to take pictures of sentimental value.

Anyways, I haven't read all that great of reviews on the kingston class 10's. And for 100.00, I can get 2 of the adata class 6 16gb. I think I will pick 1 of those up next time newegg has them instock.
The 16gb sandisk class 2 that comes in the hd2 can drag the phone down if you don't format it once in a while.

Is this really worth the extra ~10$ ish than the sandisk 16gb? From reviews I have read the, average read/write speed on the sandisk CL2 is about 6.5MB/s which is what the CL6 is "rated for"

32 GB Class 4 $55.00 from Amazon itself

If you're looking for a decently priced 32GB class 4 Microsd card backed by one of the biggest and most respected retailers in the world, you can do much worse than this:
http://www.amazon.com/Transcend-Class-microSDHC-Memory-TS32GUSDHC4/dp/B004R7P28W/ref=pd_cp_e_1
This is sold by Amazon... not "fulfilled by Amazon" but actually sold by them. So $55.00 buys you the peace of mind of knowing that if there's anything wrong with the card, you can always get your money back. Plus, this is about as cheap as I, personally, have seen legitimate 32GB cards sold for.
Also, buy with Amazon's Super Saver shipping and shipping is free (does take a bit longer, though.)
In any case, this is probably what I'll do when I get around to upgrading my 16GB card for a 32.

Oh, that's pretty tempting, too. I'd love to see a sde-by-side of their actual write speeds.
(Edit: Wow, one reviewer is seeing 16 mb/sec write speeds after formatting it on his Nook Color. So this Class 10 seems to be the real deal.)
Whats the class system? The higher the better? What would be the best class to get?

The higher the number, the faster the write speed. Class 10 is the fastest I have seen in a 32GB MicroSD card. Here is a link on the class differences:

I ordered mine last night and can't wait for it to get here!
I bought a Patriot 32gb Class 4 for $39 + 1.99 shipping from Frys.com. It was a weekend only sale and I ordered mine like 30 minutes prior to the sale ending that Sunday night (so I didn't have time to mass post the deal here). I've since received it and it works great. I'm using it in my Acer Iconia A500 tablet instead of my Evo though. You'd think that watching hi-res movies on the larger screen of the A500 would put the read speed of this Class 4 card to the test, but the whole experience has been flawless.
If you're in the market for a 32gb card, I'd keep an eye on the usual websites (Amazon, Buy.com, Newegg, Frys, etc.) because they Class 4 cards are starting to get rather affordable. The Class 10 cards are still a bit too pricey for my wallet.

My understanding is that the read speed on most of these cards is going to be fine. It's the write speed that varies most and which is dependent on the Class rating of the card. I've got a 16GB class 2 card in my Nook Color and there's no lag watching movies.

The read speed varies significantly between the card classes as well. The big question is whether or not the hardware (which typically trails behind the media) can take advantage of a card with faster access/read times. I haven't found a utility that can speed test the external SD card in my Tegra2 based Acer A500 tablet, but in a thread on another Android forum, the Evo hardware was shown to take advantage of the significantly faster read times in Class 6 & 10 cards.
All that being said, how fast a read time does anyone really need? I've never felt the need to date to go faster than Class 4 card in any of my devices, for both read and even write times.

I wouldn't mind faster write times on my Nook Color if only to be able to copy movies on and off faster (on my current card it takes between 3 and 5 minutes per 1.5 GB title.) Other than that, yeah... not much reason. I've made lots of videos on my Evo and never noiticed any issues with write speed on my Class 4 card.
There is a 32GB class 10 sold by Amazon for $42.31 ($52.31 - $10 MIR with free shipping) right now.
I can't post links yet, but the full name is "Patriot LX Series 32 GB Class 10 SDHC Flash Memory Card PSF32GSDHC10 (Black)"

I've got a class 10 16GB card in my evo. AND I CORRECTLY did speed tests through my computer and through the phone. and with the class then, there was a huge improvement on speeds even while it was installed in the evo. Professionally speaking.. I think they should install class 10 in all mobile phones. :-D it will only go as fast as its slowest connection.

thanks for the links guys. i was about to say after some research a 64gb micro sd might be overkill for me atm.
any big difference between a class 4 32gb, vs a class 6 or 10?
i mostly plan on having old pics/vids + music on my 32gb micro sd, and having all my new pictures/videos recorded to my internal memory.
The class dictates read/write speed, with the number representing megabits per second.

Best I've found for a class 10 is:
Class 10 32GB MicroSD memory card.
yikes, it's already sold out!
That cheap class 10 komputerbay on amazon has pretty bad reviews. If you stalk ebay for a few days you can find a 32gb memory card in the low 20s. I got a 16gb sandisk for $6.50 its a class 2 but speeds are almost 6. Good enough for music and random files.

Sandisk 32GB Class 10 from DX?

Anyone have any experience from the Sandisk 32GB Class 10 from DealExtreme?
I'm looking for a good sd card and I think this one fits my needs.
I have ordered from DX a long time ago when they had flashcarts and a flashlight, but I have no expereince with buying an microsd card from them.
There's a chance it is fake, but as long as it works it doesn't bother me at all.
Looking at the reviews it seems good and I'm about to order, just want to see what you guys think of it or if anyone of you guys have bought an sd card from them.

If you don't need the adapter thingy, they're a couple of dollars cheaper for the same card at amazon. Also less of a chance you'd get burned by a fake.

Now is a class 10 even necessary for a S3?
Probably not absolutely necessary but the price differential between that and a lower class (speed) one isn't that great (couple of dollars) to make the cheaper one a 'bargain'.
