Hi,
I have rooted my phone previously and have been running Leedroid roms since 1.8. When I tried to upgrade to Leedroid 2.1a last night I must've done something wrong and bricked it. My phone is now stuck at the white background with the green HTC letters in the middle when I press the power button. When I try to press vol+power, or back+power, same thing happens. I can't even get to recovery now. I've also tried running the RUU file, but my computer can't even detect the phone via usb. Can anybody out there help me unbrick my phone? Any help would be much appreciated... Thank you...
Is your phone a branded phone or a factory unlocked one?
EDIT: You say you cannot even get into recovery? Surely you must be able to. Take the battery out, and then replace it. HOLD the volume down button and PRESS the power button. See if it goes into recovery.
Hi shawon007, thanks for you help.
It's a branded phone that's been rooted and running Leedroid 2.0.
Yes, I couldn't even get to HBOOT (tried both methods: holding vol+power, and also back+power). I gave up after awhile last night and went to sleep. This morning I tried it again, and managed to actually get to HBOOT and flash the rom. Now thinking back to last night, I think one of the reasons nothing would work might've been the heat.. My phone was pretty hot to the touch with all the backups, wipes, and flashes that I did. Curious why this never happened before tho..

Hi guys,
first time poster but long time follower.
Last night i attempted to load the stock 3 UK rom onto my desire so that i could recieve the ota update today of froyo but now my screen is completly blank. It shows nothing at boot up and nothing when on the home screen. I know it's on because i can see the keypad light up when i press the power button. I can't boot it into recovery mode because i can't see the screen. Also i don't have a gold card neither so im pretty stuck. I believe it has something to do with different version of screens but i didn't see anything labelled on the rom to say which is for what screen. My desire has the AMOLED screen. Please can someone help i've tried allsorts but i need to get it fixed or i may try to return it at three but im guessing they'll know i've rooted it. Thanks in advance.

hold the volume key down and power button and hold till phone powers up. if your phone is rooted and has a custom recovery u can boot into that and flash rom.
I bet you have a slcd screen. Look for slcd brick fixed.

I can't because i can't see if it's gone into the recovery menu or not.
I had this problem too, you can fix it tho.
Start the phone as usual, install HTC Sync first, then connect it to your phone via USB.
Download the HTC Bravo stock rom from shipped-roms, and then just run the .exe file, it will reflash the stock android OS and your screen will be fixed.

I am having the same problem guys. i tried to unroot and reflash with a stock virgin mobile ruu... would i use the bravo rom too?

as long as you can get to recovery (even if you can't see it), you should be able to fix it.
i fixed my phone fine when I tried to install a wrong amoled ruu and bricked my screen.
my solution in the thread above
Repaired
You try reflash your HTC Desire this ROM RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe. Me helped it.
Rooted my Incredible yesterday...with relative ease...some very helpful guides out there.
After searching a little...I can't find anything similar to my issue, and the pieces I can find don't piece together for me.
Was accessing hboot (power plus volume -) this morning and accidentally hit the power button to select "fastboot", rather than the "recovery" option i was wanting to get to to make another backup since I had added a few apps after my root.
My phone booted into froyo without any issue...and all my rooted apps worked fine (mainly wireless tether...the main reason I rooted). I shut down the phone and attempted to access hboot again...but got 5 vibrates and a green blinking led, with a blank black screen.
Pulled the battery...and let the phone boot normally (which I was hoping for since I thought I may have bricked it) and all is well...still with root applications working fine. I have tried hboot again with same result (5 vibrates and green flashing led), so I have let the phone stay with froyo for fear that if i screw around with it too much I may brick it after all.
Am I over-reacting to the lack of hboot? Suggestions for a fix are appreciated!
This is wierd, the only time ive heard this prob is when someone tries to flash a rom and then this happens. Sry man i have no idea its strange

Download Rom Manager if you dont already have it a then install CWM recovery through it. It just sounds like it didn't install correctly the first time. That usually works for me when I get the problem of only being able to get into HBoot and Fastboot.
Hi everybody,
I have a serious problem with my phone. I installed Aurora V3 without any problems and after I played around for some minutes everything froze and I pulled the battery.
After restart, only the white screen with the green htc logo was displayed and nothing happened. I pulled the battery again and now I cannot even start the phone with volume down + power or back + power. If I plug it into the pc, nothing happens.
Strange is if I charge my phone, there is no led but the bottom part of the back of my phone warms up a little bit.
I don't understand what just happened, I mean there was no flashing involved during the crash.
Some details:
stock hboot S-ON
cmw 5.0.1.0
sdcard 1gb ext4 + fat32
I really hope that you can help me out! What can I do?
Hmm some roms require s off, that could be why

If you're phone responds to nothing it's dead. Similar thing happened to me, send it to HTC. Don't worry about whether you've rooted it or not, the fact that it's dead means they won't be able to know and will repair under warranty.
I doubt if one can brick a phone without flashing anything problematic. Can you go into Recovery and wipe everything again and try flashing something different? Maybe your ROM zip is corrupted...
Yeah I've doubt it as well, but I cannot start the phone at all. I tried power, volume down + power and I tried back + power. Nothing works!
I took the phone for repair. They said, they put new software on, but I have my doubts that it actually works.
A friend of mine had a pretty messed up HTC Incredible. He asked me to take a look at fixing and unrooting it (rooted via Unrevoked 3). I factory reset and got the phone to boot, which it hadn't been able to do. Found the unroot method for unrevoked, downloaded the PB31IMG.zip copied to SD card, proceeded to HBOOT and updated. Then volume up to reboot the phone. After this, the phone shut off and didn't boot. I didn't think anything of it and attempted to turn the phone on. After a few seconds a single vibrate and nothing on screen. I removed the battery and attempted to HBOOT, no screen response. After pulling the battery and plugging the phone in the charge LED will light but other than that, no response from the screen or the lighted home screen buttons.
I saw some similar situations and plugged the phone into my computer only to find that the Qualcomm CDMA drivers were not found.
Is this fixable or is it hard bricked?
Thanks for any help or direction in advance.

Are you sure your pressing vol down and power and not vol up and power to get to hboot? Your pc shouldn't be looking for the qualcomm drivers unless you put your phone into diagnostic mode. There are 2 ways to do this, by hitting vol up and power while the phone is off, or by dialing ##diag on the phone pad from within a rom.
I'm sure I was hitting vol down, I used HBOOT to factory reset the phone before attempting to unroot.
So, if the phone is in diagnostic mode is there any way to take it out of it? I've heard this is a death sentence for Incredibles.

Yeah, I've pulled the battery multiple times. Can't get the screen to respond to anything. Hopefully someone will, thanks for your help!
Solved.
I used another phone to format the SD card and then blind flashed a ginger bread image via HBOOT. Thanks for everyone's help and XDA in general being awesome. Thanks!
EDIT: Special thanks cmlusco. Turns out another of his posts from a few weeks ago ended up solving my problem.

How can you do that?
Hey guys, currently 3AM here and Ive been racking my brains for hours trying to get something ...anything to happen. Im stuck on the GPE boot screen (just a black screen with "google" in white), when I hold down Power+Volume+ it simply reboots and I end up back on that screen. The device was rooted (CWM) and was running 4.4.2, it was originally running sense but Ive been using stock for quite some time now without issue. I tried installing the new OTA update for Android 5.0 and thats when this happened. As Im getting nowhere, my current next step is to get some sleep and leave the phone to simply run out of battery (as I currently cant even turn it off, the screen is stuck on), and hopefully thatll get me somewhere. In the meanwhile, if anyone can offer some guidance it would be greatly appreciated, from what I can tell, it isnt bricked - but it may as well be because I have no way of interfacing with the thing (that Im aware of). Google has also failed me as I cant find any similar cases and most of the guides assume am able to access my device via ADB or Recovery.
Im willing to do whatever to get this phone working as I planned to factory reset anyway.
Thanks in advance!
EDIT: Title should say cant access recovery! it was late =[
are you able to get the device into fastboot? you should be able to flash an RUU zip if you can.
I had the same problem. Use power + volume up to switch off and immediately just press the vol down button. You might have to try it a lot of times for it to work. It took me atleast an hour to do it lol.
