Developing for two? - Windows Mobile Software Development

Hi all,
I am thinking about creating an app that I want to use on both Andriod and Windows Mobile.
What would be the best way of going about this? Using Java for both apps (limiting what I can do on the WM device) or going down the C# root with MonoDroid to help me out?
Cheers

Java is good because it can go corss-platform, just make sure the functions you use are safe on both platforms! I don't really know much about Android, so I don't know what MonoDroid is, but I wouldn't really see C# as a good cross-platform language...
Just my 2 cents.

Begin developing for the Artemis

Hi there, I'd really like to get started on a programming project for the Artemis.
Is it possible to get all the required tools and compilers free and legally?
I already have MS visual studio, but I have no idea if I can use it to develop for the Artemis. Do I need some expansion pack?
Cheers for any advice!
(I'm assuming there's no way I can develop a WM5 app in Linux? Without using Wine.)
Hi, did you find something about the tools required for this? I'd also like to start developing on WM6.1 but only found this ATM:

Programming for PPC! how?

Hello all. Please help me! I wish to contribute to the development of cool apps for HTC devices/windows mobile devices, but I dont know which programming environment to use:
I have VB 6 and Vb.Net 2002. Is it possible to develop software for PPC using one of these? If so, exactly how and are their resources?
If not, What can I use and is there a low cost solution (I dont really want to buy .net 2008!)
Thank you!
Pocket Programming Language is worth a look:

PythonCE
PythonCE is just python on your PPC. You can develop your own program on your PC or on your PPC directly. I have started developing small apps on the PPC with PythonCE and I just love the feeling of developing on the PPC.
Anyway if you do not like the idea of scripting and interpreted languages at all, then you should work with at least VS 2005 I guess.
If you like hardwork, you can check CEgcc though.
I was a former Palm user and I liked the powerfull on board development tools there. I was able to program using a real C compiler (On Board C) or a real Pascal compiler on my Palm OS device. I wish we had such programs for our PPCs as well.

Question for software developers

Hi all,
I don't know if this is the right place to post or not, but what IDEs do you guys use to develop software for windows mobile 6? I'm using Visual Studio 2010 beta because I don't want to pay for VS, but it doesn't like the WM6 SDK. I found that SharpDevelop3 works just fine if you write compact framework apps, but I can't find the info to write apps that use the radio/gps/g-sensor etc.
Are there any developers out there that could point me in the right direction? I'm willing to help out if you have a project you are getting stuck with. I've been working mainly with Basic and C#, but I'd like to expand.
VS2008. The radio/gps/g-sensor stuff isn't included in the .NET framework, so you'll need to find external libraries for working with them.

[Q] Do HTC Windows Mobile 6.5 emulator images exist?

I've Given up searching, i've been at it for about a week. So now i'm gonna ask. Does anyone know where i can find a HTC Windows mobile 6.5 emulator image that contains Sense 2.5? Coz i can't find one and it would make developing my current project so much easier.
Thoughts, links, etc all very appreciated
I would like to get this kind of image too to experiment a bit and continue developing my idea of WM emulation on Android, no matter how stupid that might sound
Wm emulator for Android'd also like to me
If the project goes ahead I can do tester

I want to become a Windows Phone 7 developer!

Hi all!
I decided I want to start developing apps for Windows Phone, and want some pointers. I already know visual basic and java, the latter of which was handy on creating a few apps on android. I 'm quite experienced when it comes to linux, and I'm also good with hardware. That's my backround. Now I've set my eyes on Windows Phone 7 and I want to take it up seriously. So where should I begin, what tools should I use, and is there a guide, possibly? I'm a fast learner, and very eager to begin!
Thanks in advance!
I posted a lot of links in the following thread (3rd message)

Hope it helps, and good luck with whatever you write.
Ian
Thanks Ian! I'm gonna get started right away!
First of all you have to learn C# it's easy language and very similar to Java. Later you have to read sth about .net Framework. To write a application you have to download free Visual Studio 2010 Express for Windows Phone.
Good luck and have fun
You can use VB language too. So you should be good. No need to learn c#. But But you should, I love c#.
Sent from my HD7 using DeepShining v6.5
To be open, C# == java (true) extra features and more functions

Is it necessary to have VS 2010 Express installed? Or is the VS for Windows Phone enough?
Damn..I have VS 2010 Express installed, and I just cannot uninstall it completely. Now, SDk 7.1 cannot be installed due to missing components.
Note: I uninstalled VS 2010 as it had that bug wherein you cannot start a new project. "Registry error"
not necessary. but it's must have one.
I think you need the full paid for version of Visual Studio in order to use VB coding on WP7 but if you already have that then it's all good!
