Do a data/factory reset through recovery menu

this is exciting. do report back on JIT and all that magical stuff we expect from Froyo lol.

Any way it can be rooted? I wont touch a firmware if I can't use Titanium Backup.

hi can you tell us how you have flashed this firmware, whenever i flash this, the phone keeps hanging at galaxy s logo saying e:/ cant be mounted and then the display goes off and keeps vibrating.
i have wiped the phone /factory reset using three button combo...still no go
is there any specific firmware from which we should flash?

if you've successfully flashed JPH, do that first just how you flash it but without autoreboot.
after it has finished flashing remove the battery and cable, and set to download mode again, then reset odin to flash for JP4/5 without PIT file and no repartition
this f/w seems to not able to prepare the /data partition like the other leaked ones

If it's the same release as JIJP5/JHJP5 (JP5 seemed to be a typo, they probably meant JP4) I guess it's still got 304 MiB of RAM available, right?

Thanks for the reply. I know Samsung doesn't think about the RAM issue as a priority, but unless an official update comes, I still hope for this miracle to happen!

Yea this fw is very good, imo

still on 4.0.1

super short version
sold my HTC Incredible S
Bad move
Got an iPhone 4s
Very very bad move
after 12 days of sorry I cant do that and being rubbish in general
Swapped it with guy over on AV forums classifieds
Now got a Samsung Galaxy Nexus
Great move
assured its a sim free version
Glad to back, that was a long 12 days
both his T-Mobile and my "3" sims work faultlessly
Also T-Mobile UK does not have the Nexus
Mines is still on 4.0.1
when I check updates, it says upto date
Download GN Official Update Checker from the market. If you have a yakju phone you're out of luck. If you have something other than yakju just need to wait longer. If you want you could unlock your bootloader and manually flash the new img from google.
Unlock that sucker and get to updating and roming that thing.

Updates are not sent to everyone at the same time. Updates are rolled out in phases and it takes time. People need to stop acting like non yakju devices won't be updated. That's just ignorance.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
You don't need to "unlock your bootloader" to flash yakju. Just put your phone into download mode and run the flashing utility here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=20302409&postcount=2
Takes only 5-10 minutes and requires no CWM or root.

-install your file explorer app of choice (I use Root Explorer)
-go to /system and open build.prop
-look for "ro.product.name"
If this is anything other than yakju (for the GSM version), then your updates may or may not come through. It's up to Samsung to push them and not Google. Personally, I'd much rather rely on Google for my updates than Samsung.

Yep, you have yakju so it's not the build that is holding you back. Google may not have rolled it out for your demographic (location, carrier, etc; I'm not sure how their rollouts work).
Wow, good thing you told me. Thanks bud, you saved me quite the head ache. Aside from that though, the process itself was simple & straight forward? Have you noticed anything different with the phone or how it performs?

Actually, it was the most painless flash I've ever performed (Captivate and Nook Color being the other two). There may be some weirdness with getting the USB drivers to install correctly for some people, but switch up the USB port if it has problems and it may work the second time around.
Aside from the improvements of 4.0.2, nothing is different for me. My phone automatically detected the 4.0.2 update within 30 seconds to a minute of being powered on and that process went smoothly as well.
I don't quite understand, why can't updates be done system wide? Why is it done so sparingly at a time..
ive got a yakju device and im from Holland.im still on 4.0.1.. it will come..

Hi Przekret,
Assume that you have flashed it.
How does it compare with previous version?
Any benchmark?
Brgds
Just flashed it and it works on my P1000M
Not sure if its "stock" though. Has custom boot/shutdown animation and a few apps that I know aren't part of the stock.
It also comes by default in Polish for anyone's interest.
JQ9 is not listed on Samfirmware / SamMobile:

Ok guys, now that I have downloaded that file...
How do I upgrade from 2.3.3 to this 2.3.6 version?
I have downloaded Odin3 v1.85 and the firmware.
I would like a smooth and safe procedure.
Is there any oprator lock on this ROM?
I see that Italian is included as well as English. Can you confirm?
Is it worth to upgrade in terms of performances compared to the 2.3.3?
Thanks in advance...

angry young man LOL its ok if not possible for dates tht was just my openion that date should be there :silly:
can you do same for arc (lt15)
Sorry, I do not Arc. So I can not do software.
Because now I'm using Sony XPERIA S
When will new update come?
As far as compilations 4.1.B.0.587, it will be made available by the end of August.
For the remaining regions by the end of September.
At the moment we can confirm that it is a compilation of Android 4.0.4
We do not have the information for which the region's update will be released first.
I have had your site bookmarked for quite some time now. Great resource.
However, is there any way you can also get the LT18a firmwares? More specifically the Generic US variety.
New 4.1.B.0.587

No, it is not available. It was certified at that day, not made available.

These are versions of the indescribable. Therefore, please give me build.prop numbers
or rewriting of the phone screen

The region/prop and other numbers are not so important as long as it is generic firmware. There are no differences anyway, differences are only for phones with hardware keyboard from what I know.
noob question but I have an arc (lt15i) and I know that arc s (lt18i) firmware works on arc but is there any drawback of installing arc s firmware on arc. technically both firmwares are same infact arc s firmware has a larger system/app partition (420MB) than arc (380MB). What would you guys suggest?

[Q] Restarting and hanging

My note II keeps hanging and restarting..
Can somebody help me?
My Android version is 4.1.2
Baseband version is N710DXDLK5
Kernel version is:
3.0.31-1071214
[email protected]#1
SMP PREEMPT Wed Mar 27 10:33:53 KST 2013
Build number JZO54K.N7100XXDMC3
My phone is not yet rooted, do you suggest anything? Or do you suggest rooting it and using custom ROM? btw, I don't like CM based ROM, I like stock based custom ROM..
Thanks for the answers.

well first install emmc brickbug check from playstore and find out whether your phone has a sane or insane chip if its sane then try flashing a stock rom or any rom u wish via odin and see if the prob persists and if it comes with insane chip then that might be the problem as it can further result in sds

I already tried that, and I saw that I have an insane chip.
Can I return my phone to samsung? Because I still have the warranty, will they fix it or do I really need to root it and install custom ROM?

I really want to do that, but I still have 2 years replacement warranty so I'm thinking not to root and install custom ROM.
thanks btw for the suggestion

yes the only risk you will be having continuing with the insane chip is that after going custom and if your phone is affected by sds for any damn reason which it can bcoz of insane chip you will have a lot to shed $ though samsung has assured that it has been fixed with 4.1.2 update but still many user had fallen victim to this
