New to Incredible from D1 Screen question - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Okay so I just got a dinc to replace my d1, and I am noticing that the screen in the dinc doesn't look as good as my d1, even though they are essentially the same resolution. The dinc's screen just looks a little pixelated or something, not as smooth as the screen on my d1. Do I have a bum phone, or is this normal?

Take a look at this:
http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/news...exus-ones-screen-science-color-and-hacks.ars/
(yes it's for nexus one, but everything applies to our screens too)
Page two is on resolution, but I would go ahead and read the whole thing.

[Q] Is it just me or does the screen go blurry at times

First off I'm really liking warm two point two 5. i just installed it on my evo but it seems like when I'm scrolling in a menu or touch the screen it goes blurry for a sec. It's hurting my eyes, is there any way to fix this issue? Thank you
If you look at the screen close enough things get pixelated when you swipe between screens. Hardly noticeable honestly though.
I only notice this on my wallpaper but I don't mind it too much.
Swyped from my sexy EVO.
Yeah when I was online looking at wallpapers and as i scrolled up and down the pics were pixelated and the text in my menus become pixelated too. Guess my eyes are too sensitive. Maybe its the dpi of my screen? i just flashed from Vaelpak and i didnt have that problem.
I only noticed it recently probably because of never using that wallpaper before. I'm sure it's been doing this all along but I won't let myself get OCD about it or else I'll flip to try and fix it lol.

Yeah Im driving myself crazy trying to fix it lol. I'm a graphic design major n very detailed (bad trait at times lol) so I'm not very fine of pixels. I'm gonna try and reflash it and see if it works. But i really like the keyboard and the dialer. I wanna keep it lol

[Q] New HTC Desire HD Display??

Guys I have just purchased a desire HD.. its an awesum fone...but theres a little annoying issue that i have...i can see the touch matrix under sunlight or bright light when the screen is off & when the screen is on, the touch matrix can be seen as it gives off the impression of little specks of dust particles on whitish backgrounds & tilting the phone a little bit. Is this normal?
Yep that's normal, I can easily see the matrix if I look for it but in everyday use I never take notice.
You see, I like having the screen on It's only a issue if you make it a issue.
Also, there was a thread some time ago where things like these were discussed and we found out that different people have a different size matrix and different size of the dots. Mine are tiny so it's why I take no notice, most probably.

Precisely, on every capacitive touchscreen these dots matrix can be seen.
If that's dust I would take the phone back to where you got it from and demand for another one. I've heard of others saying the same thing and I assure you, there should be no dust under the screen.

I just saw dust under my screen, and I have my DHD for more than 6 months!
Well, I see it, but only in sunlight. When there is sunlight it becomes incredibly easy to see.
I think that everybody has this issue also, but there is nothing to worry about I would hope.

Got my replacement phone, no lines or blobs

I just got my replacement from samsung using warranty, phone is not refurbished!!! Is brand new with a date on the back of 3/12, oh and is made in china my original was dated 09/11 and was made in Korea. Took a few days though, they were back ordered
Nice! Lol always nice to get a new device. I never trusted refurbished phones but that's just me.

I have two Galaxy S II's and one has no lines what so ever, but it looks very yellow and dingy. The other looks richer but it has the lines. You have blobs/streaks, you just can't see them.
When I got my first SGSII I had those pesky lines and blobs, exchanged it at a local Tmo for a new one and the issue was gone for me too.
I have looked very carefully and I can confirm, lines are non existent
Check the back to see where yours was made, maybe the korean models were defective
Maybe we'll get lucky one day and Samsung will get sued or something and issue recalls
wishful thinking...
You want proof
Here's a pic as it came on the box
When the other poster said pics, this isn't what they had in mind. They were referring to pictures with the screen on lowest brightness in a dark room viewing the blobs.jpg.
This would provide "proof" that your screen has no lines or blobs.
here's what you do. download a pure black picture. when it is night time. put that picture up on your phone and turn off the lights. take a picture with no flash. upload here.

He really doesn't need to prove anything. If he finds it perfect then. So be it. The issue is just a placebo effect.

DID YOU RUN THE blobs.jpg TEST? The black vibration test hides the flaws. A near black screen like grey shows it. Hell, I don't know who, but as someone said, opening the XDA app itself shows the flaws.
EDIT: DO YOU EVEN HAVE THE SGH-T989 PHONE? LOL.
if the XDA app splash screen has lines going through it...then yeah you have a T-mobile SGSII
Turn your brightness all the way down (not really necessary but it just shows the lines even more) and open XDA app, TADA, wood grain son.
I can confirm that the blobs and all have certainly been lessened. I just got this white model a little less than a week ago and the screen quality has vastly improved.

I'll run all these test Saturday. If my wife and I can upgrade.....not sure if we have the money.

[Q] Display Imperfections/Black Splotches

So I understand this is a recurring issue with some AMOLED displays, but is anyone else noticing black splotches on your screen if you put a fully black image on the screen, turn the brightness all the way down, and look at your phone in a very dark room? I'm curious how common it is before I complain. I'll post a picture tomorrow if I can capture it. It looks kind of like an ink trail near the middle of my screen. Thanks!

I just checked my over 2 year old SGSIs screen and do not see any blotches. You are also the first person that i have read about that has any problems. That does not mean youeare alone however. I have heard many running 4.2 complaining about black artifacts being seen on the screen.

I have them on mine; there are two splotches about 3/4" long roughly in the middle, just left of center. Doesn't bother me though, since I can't see them during normal use.
Had the issue on mu-tiple Samsung skyrockets...the original note and on the s3.
I have seen them on some note 2 but mine I have not found one yet.

I have a small one at the top left of the screen. My first one was right down the middle. My OCD took hold and I swapped it out. It's the same thing on my new one.
Sure, I wish it wasn't there but you really have to have perfect conditions to actually see it.
It actually has something to do with inconsistent electrical charge or something. There's actually a team for this but I can't remember it.
LCDs have dead pixels and amoleds have these splotches.
The DROID Razor is really bad as is the PS Vita. It's just that tech.

Be aware of screen defect!

So I got gs3 a week ago and loving it so far. But I started noticing the screen has some issues.
Everytime I am on blank screen with just the back light on, I notice multiple dark circles thru back light. They are about the size of peas and you can only see them in darker room. I am trying to take a picture but still not successful.. again you can not see them in normal light or when you are looking bright images. .you can only see them on blank screen with back light on. (Examples: when you start the phone and only Samsung logo during boot. Or when you go to seetings and choose lock screen, the blank area with back light on shows the defects. )
I hope you guys don't have that issue, because it does bother me when I am using phone at night..
I called tmo to replace it and hopefully new one doesn't have same problem.
Cheers,
eidt; pics attached below..
Its the screen type most have it to a varying degree

You may want a different phone if it bugs you. Purchase a phone with a different style of screen or read the forums before you make a purchase.

Common on amoled screens.
Sent from my Galaxy S3 using neighbors wifi
A simple Google search would of net you the answer. Those are dead pixels almost all amoled screen have does, but if they are really really big you can definitely try to get a warranty. Only thing is your next phone will probably have it too either for better or worse. If it's not too bad I would stay with the phone, technically if you don't think about it you get past it not many times you would notice it anyway.

I have these too. Like you, only time I see them is a completely black screen in the dark. In other words, where's the problem?
Whatever it is has zero affect on viewing anything.

Screen Burning or Dead Pixels?
I think what you are referring to is screen burning. This case is very common among OLED displays, kind of how plasma TV's have burns on the screen. It's there but its not that bad since this type of technology gets it (for now....the tech is still way too new). However, it helps to not keep the same picture or whatever showing for long periods of time, as this can cause a burning outline of the picture. In this I mean, something that is displayed that doesn't change. Remember some screen may get more burned then others but it will still be there. For the reason of this burning, I'll let you search it up. If that doesn't answer your problem then let me know, but if it is dead pixels (which I dont think it is) then you might want to change it. However, your problem sounds like the common problem called burning.

Its a common thing on all AMOLED phones. It happens during the printing process, nothing to lose sleep over.

This is very common in all amoled screens. Same was the case with my vibrant. Since these are only visible in a dark room with a black screen, its not that big of a problem, I imagine. It's not so much a defect as it is an aspect of the screen type. Think of it like this... if you purchase a Mac over a Windows computer, it will have aspects that you dislike that the other likely won't have have. But the same is true of the Windows device (although not likely ha)...if it is a deal breaker, avoid amoled in the future.
Have this also, even on Note 2. Especially, while watching Netflix or screen is dark
Seriously there was a long thread about this when the phone first released. Could we not resurrect this?

my bad.. would you mind pointing out the link for that thread? I went back multiple pages on index but unable to find.
You might want to exchange that. The definately isn't burning that I am talking about. So yes, go ahead and change that out. I don't have that on my phone so it looks like a defect. Those spots almost look like bloches of some sort and looks as if something had burned underneath. That or one guy said, dead pixels (which is a definate yes for exchange).
So go exchange the product and see how it goes for you.

Well we went through thisnwith the sgs2. People found that exchanges just resulted in more phones just like this. Therw was a whole about it there also. It is a defwct in manufacturing in most oled screens for these phones. People have reported it in their note 2s also.
