Been getting this the whole night trying to go to my "downloads" section in the market place.
"A sever error has occured. Retry, or cancel and return to the previous screen."
Random.. stumped.. anyone else getting this? server error possibly?
I think it may be my fault because I cleared out my market data in my app settings. Or just a coincidence that the market's half bugged tonight
Same here, I can't access the download section in Market either. Maybe there's something wrong with the servers.

Lots of people have been reporting this tonight. I got the server error when trying to access my downloads, but it worked when I hit retry.
This is Google's problem and has nothing to do with our phones.
Getting the same error, nothing I do bypasses it.

Still experiencing this. The rest of the market is working fine and still lets me search and download apps. I just cant access the downloads page. All other Google apps seem to be working properly as well.
I think google is applying a system/security update on the market. Notice that all paid apps are inaccessible.

help, i have an hanging download app that wont download. dropbox to be exact, every time i click cancel download it force close but still hangs.
Dropbox update is borked for me as well, think is their issue

Same here too
Yeah, if you read the comments you'll see a lot of complaints about it. They say its Google's fault, but no other apps are having this issue.
I will post it on my dropbox so all can download if anyone wants it

Might be just a Market network issue, but a lot of the time when this happens to me, I force stop the Market, clear cache and reboot. That usually fixes it for me. Sometimes I think its just the app or the market and you just have to try again later.

I've had issues with hanging downloads from the market, but after 10 minutes or so they download. Some go immediately, as they should, but some seem to hang up.

Try appbrain app market
I had this issue with the new gmail app so i just used appbrain app market and searched for it and downloaded it from there and installed it.
Any time a download hangs, I wait a few minutes and if it still doesn't start I just reboot. The majority of the time this fixes it

Yup....I though the same thing, and all of a sudden, they changed the version on the market and it downloaded just fine. Originally, they released 1.0 and the version now is 1.0.0.1, so I think it was their issue. You guys should be able to download this now without a problem......I just did.
When apps don't download/install properly I go into the sd card under /download and the .apk is usually there. Deleting it and re-downloading or installing from the apk works for me.
At some point after updating to Froyo EC05, some of my installed Market apps when clicked on only show "The Requested Item Could Not Be Found." Seems to be the same apps, both paid and free, each time.
The weird thing is that if I search for them and then click on the result I can go to the app just fine. I even thought I had fixed the issue by opening the app from within Market. That seemed to make the link work in "My Apps" again. But when relaunching Market the links don't work after that. What could be the solution? I tried clearing the Market cache and rebooting but that had no effect.
You said you cleared market cache, did you also clear market data?

Is it safe to do that, since it warns about permanent deletion? (If it's all linked to my google account but still...)
It is perfectly fine, it will just require you to accept the T&C of the market again.

I think yes, although I don't know where that setting is (does it even exist?). Its at the latest version I believe, 2.3.4, and it updated to that both on Eclair and then again shortly after first boot to EC05 since the market was oddly enough an older version at first.
This happened with me once. I couldn't figure out why. It was an app that needed to be updated, so I wanted to read the change log. Long story short, I ended up searching it, and updating it after I read it.

That's strange about needing to update one app which seems to hold back all the others...?
Well, I'm now seeing apps I actually installed disappear from the My Apps list entirely. This is weird and disconcerting, even though again they do show up if I search. ETA: well, I did find a missing app that had apparently been updated. While after un/reinstalling it made the other missing app(s) return, the same apps still give the error when clicked on.
Maybe the issue is on The Big G's end? I remember they had some market problems that made stuff unable to d/l and install months ago and all the tweaks I did to fix it had no effect until it just resolved itself somehow.

I had the same exact experience. I tried everything you tried... without success. I even Odin'd back to Eclair.. got the OTA update to EC05 and reinstalled apps.
That didn't work either. Like you, I'm hoping it was something on Google's end.
I've come to the conclusion that the app, My Backup, is responsible for screwing up the market links. I used it to backup my apk files - without data. And somehow, when the apk's are used/restored after a fresh installation, the market links are corrupted.
This time, to get things right, I simply went to settings-privacy, and erased the data. I didn't Odin back to Eclair and get the OTA Froyo. Nor did I restore from the "My Backup" app. I restored my apps from the market and a separate "manual backup" of the apks and everything is fixed.
In my case I just did an update.zip for Froyo. Although I have backups with MyBackup Root I haven't had to use any yet. And the problem still persists.
I have this issue on EC05 stock.
I tried clearing Market cache and no-go. I finally had to clear data on each application with this issue, then uninstall. Only after those two steps were completed, I could once again navigate to the application's market page to download and install.
I'm just waiting for Syndicate v1.1.1 to dump stock. I think OTA is just way too buggy without a full data wipe.

My Backup Root ... that's the culprit.
Just save your data, what you can... Go to Settings, Privacy, and format your data. Then restore your data without using My Backup Root in any manner. Just grab the apps from the market.. or whatever
Im betting big bucks its My Backup Root.. the same app I USED. Your market links are corrupted, just like mine. Something particular to yours and my settings and My Backup Root. Otherwise, this thread would be 500 pages if it was a Google/Froyo bug.
Actually I DIDN'T use it. I may try the suggestion above. This is not really severe. Yet.
I can search for and get to them, just not through My Apps. Today Google Maps updated without an issue, although I don't know if that was one with the problem.
The issue just gets weirder. I have the Compass app for example. I was always able to get to it no problem through My Apps in the Market (unlike some others). Today it asked to update. I did so. Now, when I click on it from My Apps, it gives the error message. (But can still search for it and click through.) The f*** dude? Heh.
ETA: I'm seeing an unusual number of force closes too. At least 3 today. And several are triggered by clicking on My Apps which at first takes me to the app page, then next time shuts me out as I described earlier. Is it possible to reinstall Market somehow? Maybe that's where the problem is.
Bump...after a long struggle with this, including seeing only 3 of several dozen installed apps until I cleared Market cache and data, I got an at least temporary fix.
This time, it was me seeing all my apps, getting the 'not found' message and not even being able to find the app link through search anymore.
So this time I cleared Market cache and data, then used Apps2SD to clear all app data, then signed back into Market. Now, all my apps appear and link to their pages. An odd detail is that although I appear to still have Market v2.3.6, there are new options in Market settings regarding what ratings to display with a series of checkboxes. I checked "all". But I don't believe that's ever been there before. (And the don't display AdSense option appears to do nothing when unchecked, I don't understand why that's even there...)
Hopefully this fix lasts or can be done again. Other than the bluetooth and disappearing icons for landscape homescreen issues, it's the worst I've seen in Froyo.

I don't think I need to apologize for sharing info that might possibly be helpful to others. Creating a new thread is more frowned upon, according to most forum etiquette I'm familiar with.
I had the same problem. I reloaded stock ROM using ODIN
I can't seem to dl any paid apps at the moment from either my SGSII or my Galaxy Nexus. I can dl free apps OK but get "an error occurred. Please try again" message on any paid app.
I was able to dl from the internet but not from the market app itself and I have never had issues before.
Anyone else having an issue like this today? I'm in Canada by the way on Rogers and always have been able to dl paid apps...
I have cleared the cache and wiped the app data and rebooted each device but still get this error when trying to do paid apps...
Bump... Anyone?
I have the EXACT same issue. I've had a ticket open with Google support for 8 days now... and they have failed to get back to me about much of anything...

May I ask what country youre in? You have the SAME issue as me? Can you install free apps but just not the PAID apps?
I now seem to not be getting push notifications from Gmail and things as of this morning anymore either and again... This affects BOTH my GNEX and my SGSII so I know its NOT device related...
Ive read some other threads on Market Issues that are SOMEWHAT the same but not exactly and followed their instructions to fix the issue such as... Deleting my Google account and re adding it, Deleting my credit card and re adding it, etc and nothing has worked...
I mut have deleted the app cache and data like 30 times on EACH device and rebooted like 30 times on each device and still I get the same error...
FRUSTRATING!!!
At least I know its not JUST ME and if I had to GUESS.. Id say that this issue has to do with the switch from Google Checkout to Google Wallet...
*EDIT* My push notifications from Gmail have returned but the Market Error still exists!!! GRRRRR!!!
So... I got a reply from Android today and they advised that I uninstall all market updates to rectify this issue. I did so on my SGSII and rebooted my phone and low and behold.... IT FIXED THE ISSUE... I will try it on my Nexus too if I need to...
EDIT - It did not fix the issue completely as I still get this error but after a couple trys it will let me in to purchase apps ONLY on my SGSII...
Ok so... I did what they said and uninstalled the market updates from my SGSII and it seems to have worked... well... kind of...
I still get the error but now if i try it like 3 times or so it finally lets me purchase paid apps BUT...
I went to do this on my GNEX but since market v3.4.4 CAME with the device there is NO update(s) to uninstall and as such I still CANT purchase paid apps from my GNEX market app... :-(
For ANYONE who is having the same issues as I am, keep an eye on this thread because I wont stop until I figure this out...
Ok, so... I got another email from the help desk telling me to factory reset my device(s) and that should fix it (even though this is CLEARLY NOT device related) so I backed up my items from my GNEX ONLY (as I seem to now have a 75% properly functioning market now on my SGSII as I mentioned in my previous post and dont wanna mess with it) and factory reset and it STILL did not work!!!
I then tried another tip I found here and cleared the cache from the "download manager" app AND again from the Market and THAT did NOT work either!!!
This is getting VERY upsetting!!!
Again... For ANYONE who is having issues like this or similar please keep an eye here as I will continue to post any progress.
I fixed it by deleting all updates to market in Settings/Applications/Manage?Market app. Google Talk could then work as well.
Have the exact same problem now.
Not sure what the issue is!
Have done all the "regular" fixes.
Drives me nuts tbh!
Running AOKP B27, stock Kernel.
Did anyone ever get this fixed? I'm having the same issue on multiple ROMS...currently running Codename Android 1.4.0 I can download free ones no problem but not paid apps....
I'm running AOKP B27 with Trinity Kernel and just bought Poweramp off the market a couple hours ago for $1.99 (48 hour special)...
I had the same problem. I tried all the other poosible solutions, the " Settings > aplication > all > Google Services Framework and force stop, clear cache then reboot your phone." solution did it for me
For some reason when I try to download apps now it keeps saying "We are unable to verify your account at this time. Please try again in a few minutes." I've tried clearing the cache from Google Play, signed out/in, rebooted. It still keeps doing this, and it has been since around 5am. Does anyone know how to fix this?
EDIT: Please don't bash me I just realized this is the General side, and not Q&A sorry.
Sans error Gree!
Try deleting the mail account in settings and accounts. Try rebooting then create the master account again. Try doing this on wifi if your data speed is slow or network is busy. Is this a new rom youre trying?
i live in pottstown,pa.and have been getting the same error message when downloading apps from play store, haven't found a fix yet.but im wondering if it has something to do with the area,im about 30 mi from you.
fix
just googled this as i was also experiencing it. found androidforums.com and a suggestion to clear data in google services framework, just tried it and it worked!
settings>apps>all>google services framework>clear data.
Then reboot

I don't think it's the area, although sometimes I do get some weird stuff happening. All I did was remove the account, reboot, add the account back, and it works! So try that if that doesn't work, you can try what ^^^ that person said.
google play store error: [RPC:S-5:AEC-0]
I've been getting this on a few devices for the past few days and have done LOADS of searching and tried numerous listed and suggested solutions to resolve this error. Including removing and re-adding google account, clearing cache and data on Google Play Services and Google Play store. Restoring a previous backup of the Playstore etc. but nothing has worked.
Seems I'm not alone. Here are some recent search results you can paruse if you feel like it.
Just this evening I logged into the Play Store via the Web on a PC and went to 'My Applicatins' in the Play Store and get an error there too!!
Supposedly Google is aware of this and is 'working on it' but since they are notorious hard to get any real information from I doubt we'll get an update until it 'just works'.
Though I'd put this out for others in the same boat.
Have you tried the JB server reset?
In Terminal:
--------------------
su
drmserver&
--------------------
Reboot phone
Team Rejectz
Tried that too. Still getting error. Still can't update anything. Also tried diferent (including stock) kernels and doing all of the suggestions.
When I log into Playstore via web and click on 'My Android Apps' I get this "We're sorry, there was an error. Please try again later." too still.
Did get some apps to install by just unistalling and using the web to 'push' them to the phone again. But others won't.
Pretty frustrating. But I guess I'll just keep pluging along.
Is there a Google tech support #? Lol

I spoke yesterday with the support of Google. They do not have any solution and what they said is just ridiculous "to wait until a solution" Currently website record that they support are aware of the problem and the middle of April they care but still no solution.
I suggest you just call and update them that the problem is common and much simpler device owners encounter this problem ... just massive advertising will probably have to address the problem. This simply indicates disrespect.

Or that they have no idea what the problem is and they are stalling as much as they can so they don't have to admit it (more likely scenario)
Everything is now working!!!!!!!!!!!! Problem solved!!!!!:highfive:
Okay I fixed now....
I switched off all of my devices.. Then I keep one only...
Go to system
Privacy
Unmark back up my data
Then make a factory reset..
After that the device will be opened again...
Put your email
Unmark restore my account in this device (in the first setup)
After setup is finished go to market.. Then you will find all your purchased apps and even your pending updates.
Try to retrieve one of your purchased app, and update one app
That is it.
Now open your other devices.. All well be fixed.
This is my experience.
Hope will work with you
Playstore seems to be working for me too now.
Works on phone AND the Web (desktop) interface for 'My Android Applications' is working too.
Also thought I'd add this for other who have problems with PlayStore.
Though Google seems to have corrected the problem, it may come up in the future, or you may simply wish to download .apk(s) seperately.
You can use a Chrome extension to download the .apk then push it to your phone or copy it and install it.
There is a good page on how to do this here.
The one caveat I'd recommend if you use the extension it to use Google's two factor/step authentification, create an application specific password for just this extension, use the extension to grab your apk(s) then delete that app specific access. If you don't know how to do that there is always Google.. [I hate when I have to use my Google credentials anywhere and really don't trust any other sites or applications to be secure and completely non-nefarious; but that's me and my tinfoil hat].
