Micro USB to HDMI apparently won't work

Hear, read this Can anyone confirm or deny this?
bummer, I was hoping watching HD movies on my TV
Well the Galaxy Tablet has HDMI out via a dock. Not sure how the device connects to the dock, probably not USB.
Maybe a dock for us with HDMI? Probably not though.

[Q] Why doesn't the standard dock have HDMI out?

I just received notification that my pre-ordered speaker dock has been shipped out. Hopefully I'll get it tomorrow to play with on the weekend.
I plan to put the speaker dock in the kitchen to use as a clock radio-esque type device (with the ability to do other fun Xoom stuff).
After reading a little bit more about the speaker dock I noticed that it has an HDMI out port. Form the picture on the Moto website it looks like a standard HDMI port and not the mini one that's one the actual xoom.
What I'm curious about though is whether the standard dock also has this port. I'm OK shelling out another $50 for another dock I can put near my TV. I don't quite understand why only the speaker version would have one (but I guess if you want to connect it to a monitor with HDMI in) but connecting it to the TV/Receiver you typically already have a better sound system so having HDMI out on the standard dock at least makes sense.
tldr; Does the Xoom speaker dock come with a standard sized HDMI out port? Does anyone know if the Xoom standard dock comes with an HDMI out port?
The HD speaker dock has a micro HDMI on the back. Its the same connection that the xoom itself has. The regular charging dock does not have a HDMI plug at all. The stupid part is that the sound is routes through HDMI when plugged into a monitor or TV. I have a monitor without built in speakers so no sound plays when I plug it in. I have to plug a 3.5mm headphone adapter into my speakers to get sound.

Motorola said that there is no sound through HDMI on the xoom, but only on the speaker dock.
Sad seeing them do a last second money grab on their product

That's how HDMI works, it transfers HD video and sound on the one cable.
How much does an HDMI cable cost?
Sent from my Xoom using XDA App
Depends on a lot of things, where you buy, how long, etc.
If you go to your local Best Buy you will spend $30+ for a short cable.
I have purchased them from monoprice.com for $7 for a 15' cable. Works great.

Yea.... i'm not sure something like that actually exists. I'm not even entirely sure what you're trying to get at. The TV has an HDMI input and an iPod connection cable? Why not just use an HDMI cable?

anyone know of a hdmi out dock for tbolt?

anyone know of any hdmi out docks for the thunderbolt ?
or any hardwired video out?
i'll give you a friendly bump as im also interested in some info on this
The official HTC one was supposed to have HDMI... but that did not happen.
Yes it's very disappointing that this cannot be accomplished.
You were wondering about the availability of a multimedia dock for your HTC ThunderBolt. I understand that this accessory is important to you but you should be aware that this item is third party. I would recommend you check with Verizon and find out when they plan to make this accessory available again. I apologize for any inconvenience that you have experienced.

There is no HDMI port on the TB. You knew this when you bought it. How can you put an HDMI port on a dock for a phone with no HDMI port?
three letters - MHL
If the usb port was set up for it then it should work. And, in some of the pre release documents I linked in another thread, HTC was supposed to be coming out with a cable for our phones. But, like everything else, sadly it never appeared.

Check the above link, If they can make a adapter for this they can implement this into a dock. I'm sure it will be pricy, If money is no problem and looks isn't also Buy a dock, buy the adapter tape them together woola. Now this is for the inpatient person.
Or you can always plug the phone into the dock, set the adapter beside it and plug the wire(comes with adapter) into the adapter, plug the wire(comes with the adapter) coming out of the adapter to TV. Magic aye ?
If you have a xbox just use it

Multifunction Adapter

Does anyone know if this adapter would work with the GN?

I want to have the phone output audio while being simultaneously being charged.
I would love to have the official car dock, but it is nowhere to be found (yet).
No. It will not.
Why not just plug something into the headphone port and the power into the USB cable like you are supposed to do?
I'm looking for something simple. Just drop it on a dock and go.
IPhones have countless docks, my pre has the touchstone.
I suppose I could just connect through Bluetooth for audio and plug in a charging cable in the meantime until that GSM car dock comes out.

Why won't it work? I have been looking for something exactly like this to make a custom portrait desktop dock that has audio out. The problem is the headphone jack is on the bottom and covered when in this position... any suggestions on what I could use for this situation?
*edit* Looks like it isnt a micro usb so it definitely wouldnt work then...curious though, does anything like this exist that would work with gnex?
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus
There's no way for it to work on a Samsung phone because those old mini USB slots on those HTC phones are proprietary 11-pin ExtUSB ports. Normal USB mini/micro only has 5 pins. HTC wanted to be cool and add extra pins to the USB port so that they wouldn't have to add a headphone jack to the phone. To my understanding, this was unpopular because you had to buy extra hardware just to get a headset working.
