Hi,
I'm a complete noobie in android stuff. I want to root my unrooted desire.
But to use unrevoked3, i have to put in bootloader mode and i can't. I press the volume down key and the power key and nothing happens.
What i have to do?
Thanx
To use unRevoked you don't need to put it in bootloader. It will do everything itself. All you need to do is Enable USB Debugging. And you do that under Settings=>Applications=>Development.
But FYI getting into the bootloader, Hold Volume Down pressed and press Power button, while Volume Down is still pressed.
U need to press, AND HOLD, the volume down key, until the bootloader starts. Is this what doesn't work?
Thanx 4 your answers.
And that's exactly what it happens. I press the volume down key and while i hold, i press the power key and nothing.
But why i can't put in bootloader???
Please, any help?

try holding the back button and pressing the power key, that will put you into fastboot, then just use the volume up and down key to select bootloader, and press the power key to confirm
I found how it does. I forgot to press the power button first and shutdown the device and then u can press the volume down button and while u hold it, press the power button again and voilá.
Thanx

they changed it use the home button
or i hear if you volume up repeatedly it'll renable the power button
oh ok i have struggling for so long thank you so much.!!!
for me if you hit both vol up and down at the same time it toggled what it called "back button disabled" and caused the power button to function as the back button.

that never happend to me, i guess I have to get used to using home key.
When you boot into CWM hit volume up, then volume down, then volume up and you will get a message which will enable the power key. This seems to work on all versions, its just a matter of what the default is set to wen you enter CWM.
with reboot system highlighted i toggle the volume up down button and it enables the menu button
Holy tallito I wish I knew this sooner! I odined CWM just to get that damn button to work when there is key's to press in a fancy order to get the key functionality back. Silly ass me. Thanks for letting these tips know. Worth a thanks that I'm giving to every one of ya
This only happens when you have CWM version ending with "26 or 27". In the unofficial CWM recovery (v.23), it has the power button as the select.
Hey guys, I'm in trouble.
I restored a backup and I stucked at the htc screen and now I can't access Bootloader with first Vol and Power up and after then just holding Power and Vol down. It just turns on normal and stucks at the HTC Logo. What can I do?
OK, I came into recovery, Vol- Button didn't work, sorry.
Press & hold both volume up and power button. When the screen goes off, release both buttons and quickly press & hold volume down button. This will take you to hboot. Press power once, you'll be in bootloader screen
Hello, I have searched the forum but cant seem to find an answer or a problem similar to mine.
So I was using my phone as normal and the power button wouldn't lock the screen. I held in the power button and it brings up a message saying hold power and vol up for 10 seconds to restart so the power button was obviously recognised.
I reboot into the hboot menu and can move up and down but not select, again the power button at fault. However when I hold the power button in here it turns the phone off.
When holding power button and vol up in hboot it reboots to safe mode, with the power key working exactly as it should locking screen and holding in for power options. There have been no recent app installs to cause this.
If anyone knows/ has an idea why it would be greatly appreciated .

Were you having problems with vol and power buttons before?
I used "adb reboot recevery", it takes me to the laying android with "no command" but the old power button/volume nerve pinches don't seem to work to get to recovery.

This is the most finicky device I've had for getting into recovery.
You need to hold power and then press volume up and immediately release both of them....just keep trying, it's very picky

that is insane. After about 8 tries of doing like you said I got it. Finally flashing 8.1.
This took me a few tries.
When the Android logo is displayed hold down the Power key for a few moments.
While still pressing the Power button press and release the Volume Up key.
The following steps worked for me (taken from AndroidExplained):
Pixel 2 Fastboot Mode
Press and hold the power button for a few seconds
Tap the Power Off option when the Power Menu appears
Wait for the Pixel 2 or Pixel 2 XL to completely turn off
Then press and hold the Power button and the Volume Down button at the same time
Continue holding these two buttons down until you boot into Fastboot Mode

That only gets you into fastboot. From there you will need to select recovery, then you will arrive at the dead android screen, at which time you will need to hold the power button, then while holding the power button, tap vol. up to enter recovery.
Verified instructions
Here are the instructions I pulled from a Google forum:
1. Press & hold the Volume down button. While holding Volume down, press & hold the Power button until the device turns on. You'll see the word "Start" with an arrow around it.
2. Press the Volume down button until you highlight "Recovery mode."
3. Press the Power button to start recovery mode. You'll see an image of an Android robot with a red exclamation mark.
4. Press & hold the Power button. While holding Power, press the Volume up button once. Then release Power.

This works like a charm on the P2.
hay
on rooted devices you have to press the power button (a warning to tell you your device is rooted) to continue booting your device.
is there any way to bypass pressing the button???
You don't have to press the button for it to boot.
