I looked into the issue of changing the apperance of my SGS running CM6 but I am confused
Unlike the "normal" SGS there is no twframework-res.apk and I am therefore reluctant to change something within the normal framework-res.apk
Can I just exchange .pngs and then push the framework back like with all other roms or to I need to do it differently?
Also I do not know which themes I can use. I guess it is only those specifically written for the Galaxy S or am I mistaken?
What about bootanimation.zip and changes to the statusbar. Can I use any coded for any device or do they have to be Galaxy S specific?
Thx for the info.
anyone????
Hopefully someone can help me. a little background. I love a lot of the icons Riptide uses and the color menus. I also love a lot of the custom ui elements of myns.
In the past i have been able to "combine" the elements by editing the theme and have done a pretty good job doing the new riptide v9 and Myns rom (rls 4). I have everything almost exactly how i want it except for 1 part. This is what i am hoping someone can help with. As a warning i am not a developer just someone who has played around with changing themes etc to get the effect that i want.
In warm 2.2 when you pull down the notification bar you have a switch toggle. For some reason i cant seem to get it to show all the icons when i use riptide. it only shows 4. (see picture below.) I wouldn't mind the icons going back to the original ones in Myns if by changing them would still leave the icons on the notification bar itself as is. Anyone have any ideas on what i can tweak to try to get all of the toggles back on the screen? Is this something i would have to edit the .jars for? (havent had to edited them so far)
as an update i still can not get this working hopefully someone with more theme experience then me will be able to help. I have tried going .png by .png to find the gray boxes that show up. I believe i found them as the myn framework does not have that .png and it looks to be the box however i cant just remove the .png without bootloop. I am guessing i will have to adjust a .xml file or .jar to get this working as well
Does anyone know how to modify or change the default blank Silhouette in the contacts list? I believe Riptide9's ColorNClear theme had this mod by replacing the Silhouette with a blue Android icon. I am running Myn's Warm 2.2 RLS5. Thanks for any assistance.
this can be done by editing the framework-res.apk there is an .png for it which you can either copy over from riptides or use any you want.
ic_contact_picture.png, ic_contact_picture_2.png, and ic_contact_picture_3.png in the framework
picture_unknown.png in Phone.apk
ic_contact_picture.png in Mms.apk
You'll have to change all of them to get a uniform look in your contacts, when you get a call, while texting, etc.
These will change only contacts without photos correct?
Correct.

Thanks. Hopefully I can get this to work.
Use ninjamorph to change from phone and mms thats what i use.
How do i go about using Ninjamorph to make the changes?
Could someone please provide some guidance on how i can achieve this and where these files are located?
I have been using Nils Gingersense for two days now and love it. One problem I have is the notification icons are ugly. I used to have Riptide's status bar Mod on Chingy's Incredibly Reengineered ROM and love those icons. Is there a way to get those on Gingersense? I have tried to Metamorph like in Inc Reen. but it didn't work. Any help is greatly appreciated.
You'd have to get the icons you want, and use a program like 7zip to open the framework-res.apk and com.htc.resources.apk to add the icons, as that's where they live. I haven't seen any mods for this really as far as full blown themes go, but that'd be how you'd do it.
You could use ADB to pull the framework-res and com.htc.resources apk's from your phone to see if the icon names match. If not, you'd have to rename the icons you want to the names of the icons that exist in the apks already. If you simply just replace the icons with new ones and they are named something different, it won't work. Make sense?
Hello i was wanting to know how to change the image in the pulldown bar like you see in the UOT kitchen and if its possible to change the top buttons images like the wifi on / off and 4G on /off ect or the whole button itself
there in the SystemUI.apk located in system/apps
res/drawablehdpi folder
just edit in any image editor but try and stay away from the .9.pngs they are special and a pain in the bum.
you can just change .apk to .zip to unzip then rezip and rename.apk
you want the quicklaunch icons for the drop down icons
and status_bar_background for the actual background
thank you bro for such a fast answer
no problem i just happen to be trollin through
do you happen to know were the battery images are ?
and if i could just remove all the stock ones with ones from another theme for my phone ?
battery images are in framework-res
system/framework
if using ones from another phone you'll probably need to do some renaming
most roms currently on our phone use full 100 % increments
if i remember correctly there are 203 total 100 unplugged
100 plugged and a full empty and unknown
thanks again you have been a huge help

if noone shares the info this stuff can be a royal pain.
If you use the UOT Kitchen and keep getting errors, try un-checking Patch9 autofix. This will not decompile the 9patch images and may allow your theme to build. It worked for me with modding ACS Ice Cream Sandwich Theme (modded battery only).
thank you
and are there any other theme kitchens or rom kitchens for our phone ?
oh and i noticed there are two different default pull-down backgrounds one under systemUI.apk and one under the frameworks.apk and both are different sizes and dimensions , witch ones do i change ? or do i change both ?
the one you want for the drop down background is
status_bar_background.png
in SystemUI.apk

I'm fairly new to Android, coming from my FrankenPre to the Epic Touch. I want to begin editing the icons and images on my phone, and I've been exploring some ROMs ansd themes and switching up some icons, which have worked fine. However, I have no idea exactly where all the images are kept. For instance, I tried to change the stock Email icon, but the images I changed weren't right, and I was somehow left with the "Android Robot" icon.
My question is, seeing as how you know where these images reside on the phone, how do I go about knowing which icons are where, and which ones I need to change? Is there a list somewhere of the stock system images and their locations, or is it trial and error to figure out where they are? Thanks for the help.
