WiFi error after update 2.10.405.2 - Desire General

Hello
Few days ago I was prompted to install update 2.10.405.2. After the installation I can't enable wifi anymore; it simply says error. I just got my phone 2 weeks ago on an Orange contract (from mobiles.co.uk), but when I contacted HTC they said that my phone should be a branded and locked O2 Desire. HTC said that because my phone was unbranded the update messed my phone. Is that possible?
I noticed that quite a few people are affected by this, but the guy from HTC wouldn't say if they are aware of this problem or if they are working on a fix. They "escalated" the call but haven't contacted me back yet.
Is there a way to simply uninstall the update?
I read this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=779787 but I wouldn't want to downgrade to 2.1 (I just got this phone 2 weeks ago, plus this is my first Android so...) wouldn't that invalidate my warranty ?
Please advise,
Thanks

If your Desire was a previously branded handset then you need your gold card in the unit for ALL updates. This is why the handset is having issues...

I didn't know that.
Why was I given a previously branded phone in the first place, if this could cause problems like this?
Anyway, I made my main microSD card a gold card now... for future updates. Does this gold card just needs to be in the device when you update, or you need to do something else as well ?
Is there a way to simply uninstall this bloody update?

You just need the gold card in the unit...Don't suppose you happen to know the software version that was on the unit when you got it do you?

Unfortunately no. But this was the first and only update that I got, if that helps.

Same issue here, is a hard reset/reflash the only solution? I'd rather not lose my files and stuff, ofcourse.

It would be either 1.21.405.2 or 2.09.405.8 I'd imagine...
CPW own mobiles.co.uk so it should've been an unbranded device - mine was from a CPW store and was unbranded - so it may have not been a branded unit. Follow this guide and if it completes with no issues you're on an unbranded unit (it will roll you back to Android 2.1 and you can then flash the Android 2.2 RUU file directly (or try the OTA update again)*
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
* You will lose all data, mind, so backup what you need before doing this

Will this invalidate my warranty?
I also contacted mobiles.co.uk (as HTC suggested) to ask them why on HTC database my phone apears as a branded O2 phone, but still got no answer from them. You are saying that it should have been an unbranded Desire ?

No it won't, if it completes then you've got a generic Desire and that guide puts you back to stock 2.1...you can then update again to 2.2 and HTC won't know a thing...
I'm saying it should have been an unbranded Desire going from my experience of CPW - that's not to say EVERY Desire will be unbranded as it depends where they got the stock from

Quote from post : [HOWTO] Downgrade Froyo (2.2) to Stock 2.1 (ANY HBOOT | WIN/LINUX/MAC | ROOT)
"Further Information
If you want to flash an alternative RUU (e.g. a branded 2.1 release), just skip the downgrade section at the end by pressing vol-down on the phone when the utility has completed. Then reboot the phone and run the RUU you want. If you have an SLCD screen you should be very careful here - most RUUs don't support the screen."
Question: Do I need to skip the downgrade?
My model number is HTC Desire A8181 - is this with SLCD screen?
I have downloaded RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.10.405.2_R_Radio_32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2_release_142828_signed.exe
Is this ok to flash after this process?
Sorry, I am a novice (got the phone 2 weeks ago) and did not expect to bump into problems like this so early.
Please help, I wouldn't want to brick my phone.

The guide downgrades you to the stock 1.21.405.2 ROM which is fine for SLCD screens. You can then either use that RUU or just do the OTA update again - whichever you prefer (personally, I use the RUU)
There should be no issues if you follow the guide to the letter
Other thing to try first, though, is a hard reset - it might fix it for you

Just did a hard-reset. It didn't help. Will try downgrading and let you know how it went.

I did the downgrade and now the wireless is working again )
I'm flashing that RUU now
Thanks so much EddyOS

No worries matey, just keep the gold card in the phone and you shouldn't have issue in future

I had the same problem.
No WiFi and hotspot after ota.
This because i forgot to put in my goldcard...
Easiest way to fix it is to make a goldcard, then get the .zip file from the 2.10.405.2 update and place it on the goldcard.
Rename it update.zip.
Put the goldcard in your phone.
Then enter recovery mode (reboot your phone, when turning on hold the lock button and volume down button)
Select recovery in the menu you get, then wait, after a while it shows you a few options. Choose the option to run the update.zip.
Done, everything works perfectly.
Its really easy, only making the goldcard out of an SD requires a little searching/reading.
Good luck!
Edit: forgot to say it doesnt erase any data, like apps and contacts.
Just be sure if you use your current SD card as goldcard to copy everything to your pc before making it. Then you can put it back later on.

Finaly back to the latest 2.2 Android. Updated using OTA.
Tried updating with RUU but for some reason after the RUU rebooted the phone to start the update, the phone got stuck on the HTC screen and the RUU timed out; tried it several times.
But I'm back on track now.
Will keep the goldcard in at all times. Lesson learned the hard way.
DaannRoz - unfortunately I already did the hard-reset...
Thanks everybody.

Thanks DaannRoz
I put a new 16gb into my phone a while back and put it through the gold card process so I thought it should work. It didnt and I got the Wifi error code. I put the original gold card in and went through the steps you provided and got my Wifi back. It saved me from reflashing the phone and wiping out all my apps and data.
I anyone gets a picture of a phone with a red triangle and a apostrophe in it you need to push and hold the volume key up and then press the power button to get to the rom select screen.

Thanks Daan..
Just stuffed my Desire. Will try the update via recovery @ home.
BTW is this the update you want me to do ??

Thanks Daan...now my Wifi works...
@Sai> I used the link provided by you..thnx.. (Hope its an original one!!!)
saro

I got the same issue. After reapplying the update with an update.zip and the recovery mode --with gold card inside at this moment-- everything goes fine and my WiFi works again...

Debranded T-Mobile Desire with 2.10.405.2 - No WiFi?

Hello Users,
I really hope some of the experienced Desire users here can help me out!
I bought a HTC Desire with T-Mobile branding in Germany (appears to be the sLED version). It has no SIM lock and I just hate the T-Mobile branding so I tried to debrand and update the ROM to a stock rom from HTC.
I used the GoldCard Tool to create a GoldCard from my 4GB SD that came with the device and downloaded the latest version of Froyo 2.2 from shipped roms (first I tried the 2.09.405.8, then the upgrade to 2.10.405.2).
As soon as I debranded my desire I had no option to turn on the Wifi anymore. If I go to the menu point where I can enable the Wifi, it takes a few seconds and sets a green hook. Shortly afterwards it is searching for available networks and comes up with the error message "Unable to scan for networks".
I tried many different ROMs now, downgraded, upgraded, created the GoldCard again, etc. and followed everything I could find on the web to solve the problem. I also tried different SIM cards but nothing works.
I am quite sure that the hardware is ok, because it was working with the T-Mobile branded ROM.
When I start the phone holding down the vol-down key, it says:
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0.93.0001
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNT0101
RADIO-5.09.05.30_2
Aug 10 2010, 17:52:18
(maybe that helps)
Who ever is able to get me that Desire working will definitely get some donations for beer from me!
Thank you in advance!
First thing would be to go back to stock but the German T-Mobile ROM isn't available so that's out the window. Only thing you can try is to roll back to 2.1 and see if it then works. Follow this guide to roll back your HBOOT/ROM back to 2.1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768256
I did try to roll back my mobile phone even to the 1.2 something, that you can get from shipped roms webpage. The problem is that it is not really supporting the sLCD phones, if I downgrade I have a black screen.
Any other ideas?
What if I downgrade, root and use a custom ROM - could that help to solve my problem?
If so, what custom ROM would you conider to be the best right now in my case?
That guide I posted puts the correct 1.21 with support for SLCD Desires...follow it then you can what you want
I think I tried the guide already, with the result, that I had a black screen after rebooting the device. But I will try again.
I have the same issue with debranded (not rooted) Desire (T-Mobile), 2.10 damaged wifi. I have the original AMOLED version. I wonder now if I can still repair it somehow without loosing data, settings, applications etc.
So it seems to happen with the sLCD as well as with the AMOLED.
Any more users out there that have/had the same issue?
My phone is brand new, no software, apps or data on it that I would miss so I can try everything out to repair it.
I was in a mobile shop here in Vietnam and the guy explained to me that I should download and purchase an APP called "Super Manager Andriod" that would allow you to delete files in the ROOT. He said if I go to the folder /something/wifi/... there will be only one file in there, if I delete it, the WiFi would work again.
From my point of view that makes not a lot of sense, can he be right? The app cost $8 and if anyone here thinks that might work without a rooted Desire, please tell me.
Are there any other apps that allow you to delete files from ROOT that are freeware?
Solution (NO DATA LOSS)!
Credit goes to OOK, I've just added more detailed comments:
1) Create and insert a gold card
2) Download http://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_HTC_EU_2.10.405.2-2.09.405.8_releaseol2djq7rqarka2ka.zip
3) Copy it to the gold card and rename to update.zip
4) Power off the phone
5) Power on while holding Volume Down
6) Wait until everything is loaded and displayed, scroll with Volume Down to Recover and press Power button
7) Press Volume UP + Power buttons when warning triangle appears
8) Scroll down with Volume Down to Apply sdcard:update.zip
9) Press Power
10) Confirm restart by Power button when the installation is finished (press once, it takes some time to show some progress)
11) Wait, wait, wait, and finally wait.
12) Enjoy
My recommendation - do you have debranded Desire? Always have goldcard inserted (ie. transform your normal SD card into goldcard and use it normally)
Did this work with your Desire?
I am quite sure I tried this already, I will download, unzip, rename, install again and see what happens.
you dont unzip, you just move the zip file to the sd card
If I have created a GoldCard once, will it stay a GoldCard, or do I have to create a new GoldCard after I format or change data on it?

Yes I did, I just have the 4GB SD that came with the device. I created the goldcard and kept it in the device.
I tried the update.zip - no success.
I start to hate this Desire phone...

I bought a Telus HTC desire from someone in Canada and I have the same wifi issue. However I do not have a goldcard. If I create one and go along with the process will I lose my unlock and access to ATT network?

creating a goldcard alone will not damage or make you lose anything
My big question is that if i have my goldcard inserted and choose to do the OTA update to 2.10.405.2 on my debranded desire, should there be any problems????????
No, the gold card is needed to allow the OTA to install. Without it you get ID errors (or issue with it not fully installing)...you can't apply the OTA to a rooted phone, though

[Q] Official T-Mobile RUU Rom

Im going to be sending my Desire to HTC after experiencing the reboot issue , at the moment i have a rooted phone running a custom rom and want to go back to an official UK T-Mobile (non rooted) rom
on the official ROMS page there are two:
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11_Radio_32.30.00.28U_4. 05.00.11_release_122755.exe
RUU_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.0 6.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
does anyone know what the differences are and which one i should go back to?
Cheers
What software version are you on now?
What HBOOT are you on?
when i power on and volume down i get
BRAVO PVT1 SHIP S-ON
HBOOT-0-80-0000
MICROP-031d
TOUCH PANEL SYNT0101
RADIO-5.09.05.30_2
not sure what you mean by software version
Im running the latest OpenDesire ROM at the moment : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768624
Get 1.21.110.4, it'll flash fine
k cool ,can you tell me what the differences are?
i also noticed one has signed at the end, is that significant?
1.15 - old
1.21 - new
Pretty simple really!! The higher the numbers, the newer the build
As for signed, probably just means it's actually a released ROM - I've never took any notice before. They're both official T-Mobile RUUs so it shouldn't matter
couple more questions
does anyone know if the newest TMobile ROM is Froyo
and
Do i need a gold card to run these RUU roms
1. No it's not, it would be 2.x.xxx.x if it was. The T-Mobile one isn't available yet BUT you can then flash the OTA update to get to FroYo once you've used 1.21.110.4
2. If you phone came with a T-Mobile ROM on it then no, a gold card is only needed to flash a ROM which is a different version to the original
I flashed one of the tmobile roms off the rom page and it was no good with my slcd screen.
Just something to consider if you have an slcd screen.
He's not on an SLCD screen as he's on HBOOT 0.80 so it'll be AMOLED
thanks for your help, appreciated
yeah i have an amoled screen (i checked the sticker on the side of the box )
on the Official RUU page it has these two OTA updates
OTA_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.15.110.11-1.15.110.10_releasez3xlhzglzlds8gg2.zip
OTA_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4-1.15.110.11_release0grz58nlwns0d5mw.zip
would the 2nd one include froyo? the reason for asking is i really need the Portable Hotspot feature in a couple of weeks and unrooted 2.1 doesnt have this
Neither are the FroYo OTA, you need this one:
http://fotadl.htc.com/2.12.110.2-1.21.110.4_release3uop1mw9unpc376h.zip
First, flash the 1.21.110.4 RUU, then download that file and do the following:
1. Rename it update.zip (not update.zip.zip)
2. Copy it to your SD card
3. Turn the phone on holding volume down to get into HBOOT and then select recovery
4. At the red !, hold volume up and press power
5. On the menu, select 'apply sd:update.zip'
6. Follow the instructions
superb mate, thanks!
just tried to run teh OTA_Bravo_TMO_UK_1.21.110.4-1.15.110.11_release0grz58nlwns0d5mw.zip
and went through all the prompts and then it told me
ERROR[131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR
now my phone is tmobile but im 90% sure when i got it (when the desire came out, bought it from mobilephonesdirect) it was customised with Virgin Mobile icons, would that make a difference?
Yes, chance are you're on generic FW (x.xx.405.x)...having said that, is your sd card a gold card?
i still have my goldcard
i just checked back on an old thread and a few people also got tmobile desires with Virgin media icons on the homescreen
Either way, if you're now on 1.21.110.4 then that OTA file should have no issues. Obviously use your gold card as if you're not chances are you weren't on a T-Mobile ROM originally - in which case get the latest FroYo RUU by clicking on my Signature and use that instead!!
ok
i didnt manage to get as far as flashing 1.21.110.4 as i got there ERROR 131.
so , i need to use my goldcard to flash 2.29.405.2 WWE (FRF91). and if so i take it all i need to do is flash the rom with the gold card in instead of my normal sd card.
if i install 2.29.405.2 will that be ok to send back to HTC (reboot problem)
No
If you tried the T-Mobile RUU without your gold card and got that error then chances are you're on a generic Desire. So download the 2.29.405.2 from my sig and try again without your gold card. If it works then you have an unbranded Desire
ey mate
cheers for all yor help
i managed to flash the rom in your sig without a goldcard and all is fine!
i can now send them phone to HTC to be repaired! thanks again

RUU 1.15 wont flash - waits for bootloader

Hi
I've downloaded an HTC Europe 1.15 RRU that I used before and worked.
Now, however, it wont flash. I just get to the "waiting for bootloader" and then a "connection error". I tried rebooting into bootloader but then the RRU just counts upto 100 and then tells me there is a connection error.
The difference between now and last time is that I've updated my bootloader to Alpha-Rev bootloader and Clockwork Mod Recovery is installed. The phone is rooted and S-OFF as well.
I'm trying to restore the phone to factory condition in preparation for a return to HTC for repair.
I guess I need to resintall some bootloader and recovery mod?? or is that in the RUU?
Any ideas/advice?
Android version 2.2
Baseband 32.47.00.32U_5.10.05.23
Kernel 2.6.32.15-gf5a401c
Build 2.29.405.2 CL263770 release-keys
Software: DJ Droid v1.8 (but also tried latest MoDaco, Pinky, CM6 and LeeDroid)
Browser: WebKit 3.1
HBOOT 0.93.0001
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-OFF
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNW0101
Clockwork Recovery v2.5.0.7
Why do you want to put the FIRST ever RUU back onto your device? Just download the latest RUU (2.29.405.2) by clicking on my signature. This is assuming your phone in unbranded from the start, if not you'll need to get the RUU for your operator
Er, because I said ...
"I'm trying to restore the phone to factory condition in preparation for a return to HTC for repair"
Factory condition means ANY ROM that was meant for the unit - you don't need to go back to the first!!! So long as you're on an x.xx.405.x ROM you'll be fine!!! LMAO!!!
If you just flash the 2.29.405.2 RUU then you're back to stock so the factory will accept it
bloody hell.
saved me a ****ty weekend there pal.
nice1
cheers
will do this tonight and report back.
My HBOOT is 0.93.001 (flashed using alpha-rev clockword mod install utility). Some older RUUs refuse to load (waiting for bootloader and a reboot to bootloader whilst the RRU is still running - doesnt fix the problem). Appears to be waiting for a special signature from the bootloader. Is your link (RRU) likely to work do youo know ??
If you're currently S-OFF, which I assume you are, then get this file instead:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip
It's the same RUU but in ZIP form. Once downloaded remove everything from the name except PB99IMG (so the file is effectively called PB99IMG.zip) and copy it to the root of your SD card. Then boot into HBOOT and it will read the ZIP and ask you to continue. Say yes and once done reboot and you'll be back to stock. Then just remove the ZIP from the SD card and away you go!
Word of advice: I was S-OFF and using the N1Table and the first time I ran this it failed on the System partition and got stuck on the white HTC screen. I left it an hour, ran the PB99IMG again and it completed so if you are on anything other than the stock table I'd go back to that first using the file from AlphaRev before running the ZIP
Either way you should be fine
Yeah S-OFF.
I'm okay with the PB99 - used that when creating gold card and downgrading.
The N1Table stuf is new to me. I'll google that now.
Thanks for the tip and link.
Cheers pal.
**EDIT:
Okay, so N1table is the partition table for sram/nvram chips.
I have not knowingly modified these, but in any event will grab
the stock HTC table just in case. I can only assume the hangup
is generated because the partition table is hardcoded in the RRU
rather than being read in by the RRU - or something like that.
Anyway, thanks once again pal.
[Q] The phone was purchased on the UK Orange network although no branding on the phone (orange square logo and orange applications). The phone was locked to the Orange network and the settings SLIGHTLY different than the unbranded phone my bro has. Will I need to get hold of the Orange RRU before sending to HTC for repair (as in will the IMEI number be registered to Orange or something)?
If it had the Orange ROM on it then you will need that before sending it back...now, an Orange RUU has never surfaced BUT I might know someone getting one today so if I hear anything I'll post back on here.
If you needed a gold card to flash the stock RUU then you will need the Orange RUU
With regards to S-OFF, unless you downloaded and flashed a new table you will still be on the stock Desire one
I used alpha-rev' s-off utility (cant recall the link and didnt save it) but unsure whether the table has been modified. I'll just download the HTC one. Simples.
DAMM. I thought I may need the Orange RUU. Yes, the stock RRU wouldnt install I recall; required a gold card and a bootloader downgrade as I remember. ****!
I've been searching for Orange RUU for months to no avail.
As I said, hold out a day or so as I think someone might be getting it from Orange
Leave it with me...

My gracious thanks in advance.
Good luck!

Hang on; dya mean its possible to create an RUU or backup of a branded Orange phone - as indeed I had before I rooted et.al. ? Oh no, could I have created one - surely not ?

Nice1 Eddy. The ZIP did the trick. The RRU method didnt work but I expected that as it was looking for an original HBOOT signature.
So, back to HTC stock. Not sure whether they would accept it for repair though given that it was sold as a branded Orange handset. Can they check?
Well, I will give this a go. The reason for the repair is that I've installed god knows how many custom ROMs and:
1. wifi doesnt always work.
2. Data connection errors.
3. Random reboots.
4. 90% reboot when navigating in the car.
5. Failure to answer some incoming calls.
6. Sometimes outgoing calls carry no voice modulation (they cant hear me)
different problems depending on ROMs.
So, lets see how the stock does before I decide to send back/or not.
Thanks again Eddy.
No, the bloke at Orange is going to give the guy getting it debranded the Orange RUU so he can go back to stock if he needs to...
HTC can tell, and my still fix it and put the Orange ROM back on it, but they may also turn around and refuse to fix it due to having a different ROM to the original
You can get to stock Orange with a very complicated method. After debranding you would root the phone. Then apply the backup on my thread. You then remove the superuser.apk with adb. You then flash the two updates orange released this unroots your phone back to stock.

Nice1 Ste, however, mine is SLCD not Amoled. The nandroid is from an Amoled handset. Wont work with mine. Nice idea tho.
Anyone have a nandroid from an Orange set??

[Q] Desire keeps crashing, Rollback to stock condition.

Hi,
I have tried several ROMs on my desire but none of them is working perfectly.
The only rom that somehow makes it possible to work is dj-droid
Leedroid and Chinese rom kept on crashing
The phone keeps crashing if I use it to much. (run a demanding app like waze or o game)
It even crashed when I use the internet for too long.
All of this made me come to a conclusion that there is something wrong with the hardware (feel free to correct me if I’m wrong)
Now I want to get my phone to his stock condition.
I know that I need to download something called a RUU file.
I found this thread, but I can’t figure which ROM should I D\L.
I suppose it should be something marked as WWE and the numbers are the radio version.
From what I can see my radio version is 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 (found in setting-> about phone -> Software information Baseband version) is it really the radio or I’m looking at the wrong place?
Can I use any RUU file is there a specific RUU should I D\L because in the thread I found the highs radio version is 32.30.00. If I need a specific ROM can some please point to the right direction.
Also I’ll be happy is some will explain to me what are the steps to install the RUU file, or is it same thing as installing a custom ROM ?
Please feel free to throw any other suggestions that might help to set my desire to it’s proper condition.
Thank in advance
Mark
P.S
I had froyo 2.2 and my HBOOT is 0.93.001
In order to return to stock, just connect the phone to the pc and run the RUU (it's just an exe file). The latest OFFICIAL European rom is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=828519
That will upgrade HBOOT and Radio, you really need that. In case you'll need to get root access, just download unrevoked (google it), but remember to uninstall HTC Sync in case you have it installed before running it.
After rooting, just reflash the rom of your choice and keep the new radio, just don't change it, it's superb.
Hint: before flashing any rom on top of each other, remember to wipe cache, dalvik cache, and user data, so you won't get any crash.
To restore data I suggest MyBackup Pro, gives less issues than Titanium Backup.
You need a gold card to flash anything other than the one that originally came with the phone. Radio is irrelevent

Radio is responsible of many crashes: an old radio not compatible with the camera app gives FCs.
Why would he need a goldcard if he already rooted?? To go back to stock just enter in the bootloader, select fastboot, connect via usb, start the RUU and you're done.
Thanks,
I'll try the attched RUU and update with the result.
BTW
is the there posibility i'll brik my phone during this procedure ?
Oh and i anderstand that i need a goldcard only if my phone is/was branded.
Ok, I managed to restore the phone but after the installation it entered to a boot loop.
I let the phone rest for 2 or 3 minutes and it started up perfectly.
I suspect that if I'll stress my it's get too hot and crushes.
Any suggestion how can I confirm this theory ?
How did you get it out that boot loop? Resting? Did you take out the battery or smth?
Yes,
I had to to that several time before the phone started to work.

If the OP has a branded phone and wants to flash a stock unbranded RUU you need a gold card. Radio is irrelevent in the flashing of an RUU as you get the correct radio for the ROM included in it
I am just asking because I am trying to flash the Rooted , A2SD+ version of this ROM and after flash it just keeps looping (when the little green android logo appears and the phone vibrates) and does that on and on and on. Maybe I have to wait more.
Which ROM have you come from? IF it wasn't a Sense-based ROM you'll have to do a full wipe before booting

I came from exactly this one (latest OTA). It was rooted and as clockwork recovery did not work , I flashed Amonra. I did a full wipe, I formatted the SD card and then partitioned it, I did everything from scrap. I am almost certain I am missing astep or smth. Phone shows S-ON, maybe amonra doesnt get read of Security...?? I am not very good at this stuff, but any other ROM I flash works, except for the latest OTA (rooted and with A2SD- there is a post here on the forum containing it).
OR you mean a full wipe AFTER flashing, and before the first boot??
Chapter 2 – Return of the Desire
Hi again
First of all I want to thank you all for your assistance I had no problem to activate the warranty.
It seems that the constant reboot issue was a know issue of the A8181 series so my original phone was sent to HTC.
Finely I got the phone back and according to what I've been told it's a new device.
When I tried to use the phone I noticed that the APN settings were not transformed from the SIM card to the phone
(did not had that problem before I shipped the phone).
I tried to ran the RUU I used before and It seemed like I'm also going to gain an upgrade from 2.10.405.2 to 2.29.405.2 .
With a heart full of joy I'm pressing the next button and when the status bar reaches the "updating signature" I get the " Error [131] customer ID" error.
Noting I do seems to help fixing the problem.
I managed to root the phone, I flashed the LeeDroid rom, but i still can't run the RUU.
Any suggestions how do I fix the problem ?
I don't think my phone is branded as I bought an online store and from my provider.
Thanks in advance
You need a goldcard.

Ok, I tried with the GoldCard, still the same error.
I'm trying to install.
RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2_Radio_32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.
Also i see notification on that tells me that it is safe to remove my SD card.
Can you access your sdcard on your phone?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
nope,
can't access it at all
I think that's your problem then.
Have tried removing it, cleaning the contacts etc?
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
I think i messed the card in the proccess of making it a GC
The phone keeps telling me that it's sage to remove it
I dont have this problem when i insert my ap2sd card
try reformatting / remaking your goldcard.
HTH

[Q] Cat ate the Gold card and need to unroot.

Right, I have a slight issue.... my wifes phone is playing up at the moment ... the dreaded reboot issue when ever you do more than make a call, so I need to send the phone back to HTC.
The problem ...
I don't have my gold card anymore ... it was on my desk and the cat must have eaten it! I have tried unrooting without and it stops with an incorrect bootloader message (or something along those lines)
I have managed to boot back into Android after clearing all data (via the bootloader), am I ok in creating a goldcard even though I am on a custom ROM and not stock?
Did try Googling but got mixed messages .... not all relating to the Desire either.
Anyone tried unrooting an O2 Desire yet? If so what RUU did you use?
Thanks in advance
Doesn't matter what ROM you are on, you can even create a goldcard without your phone if necessary.
Be careful which RUU you choose, as some of the older ones can cause an SLCD brick (depending on which screen you have).
I'm not sure about the situation with O2, but I debranded my Orange phone with the latest stock RUU as there have been no Orange RUU leaks.
Thank you,
Hopefully that will work, it is going back to HTC not O2, so will probably go for the latest stock RUU (and hopefully the goldcard will work!!)
The bootloader is dated Aug 10 from memory so fairly new and still falls under HTC warranty.
Will post a few more details about the bootloader version later.
Thanks again.
