I have rooted my EVO and have flashed roms on it before but for some reason Roms will not flash anymore. The HTC EVO screen keeps rebooting and never goes to the bootup animation.
I have flashed back to stock and that does not help it either. I clear all cache 2x as well.
I have tried everything I can possibly think of. Even tried different sd cards. Anyone have any ideas????
take it back to the sprint store and they will send you anothe one thats what i did today

Problem is I can load a stock Rom on it through the RUU file. It is just with custom Roms I am having a problem. So if the store reloads a stock rom on it, it will not help my problem.

I had the same issue....only you NEED to get yourself to the home screen. Once I turned off the gps, all was well and no more reboots.

I've had this problem FAR too long. I'm running a custom ROM but whether i revert to a stock ROM or not, the problem does not go away. Whenever I try to load my camera, the screen just stays black. There is no camera icon for when the app is loading it's just black.
I've had my phone for over a year and i think taking it to sprint is out of the question. I could load a stock ROM to bring it in i just think it's been too long.
I'm using Deck's ICS right now and am aware that the camera doesn't work for the version i am on. I'm flashing to the stock ROM now so that those doubts can be set to rest.
Has anyone experienced this problem and how did they fix it?

So i did a full wipe 3 times and put back a stock ROM and it DOES work. The reason i posted was because the problem was becoming progressively worse and the last few ties i put stock on it didn't work. but now perhaps with the three wipes it did! We'll see how long this lasts...
I tried to revert back to stock to have t-mobile unlock my phone; i tried to flash gb through odin.
When it restarted it keeps crashing on the "touch android to begin"
I came from Infamous 2.9
I appreciate any help, I have to leave out of the country in two days and was hoping to get my phone unlocked and ready.

when you say crashing do you mean the phone locks up, or just reboots? Sounds like a bad d/l of the stock image. I would redownload...
Have you tried to factory reset in recovery to see if it will boot after that?
sent from my T989 full of CM awesomeness and a touch of Venom from the Darkside!!
Make sure you use one of these stock GB or ICS from this thread with Odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1414341
I experienced the same thing. A bunch of force closes at the first screen. So, I Odin the phone with stock ICS rom to get everything back in the working condition. This resolved all the issues.
Change the kernels too, you said u were on infamous (ics) and go back to gb

thanks for the help guys, i changed back to a stock rom and it all worked, sorry forgot which one, t-mobile sent me an email saying they couldnt give me an unlock code, so i just ordered an unlocked phone and hopefully it will get here in time for my trip.
I was running latest paranoid android and I wiped cache/dalvic cache after flashing Cerberus in recovery and when the phone booted up it was asking me to Activate (sprint service) my phone. I've never seen this with flashing roms and was wondering if this is a known issue with flashing roms on the S3 or something that can randomly occur from time to time.
Anyone have experience with this before? I had been running Paranoid Android for less than 24 hours but initially didn't have any problems whatsoever.
Itll do that sometimes depending on the rom. Usually does it after a factory reset and installing a cm based rom. Its just asking you to add your google account... you should be fine

This didn't have anything to do with my Google account. I guess I should have been more specific, I mean that my phone is deactivated on Sprint's network as in I can't make phone calls and all the info is missing in about phone. Phone number, PRL and such. I am flashing back to stock right now and hope this fixes it. Will probably give paranoid another go but this doesn't sound like a common issue because I haven't been able to find anything by searching.
When you get back to stock it'll probably reactivate itself. If not (although you can do this regardless just in case), ##72786# in the dialer should set you straight. If I'm not mistaken the screen you're referring to should be gone when you boot stock regardless. Its a bug. Doesn't work for a sprint phone but still buried in the rom
Ahhh... could try manually flashing your modem after the install too

Soon as I flashed the stock rom it tried to activate and initially failed and prompted me to reboot. Second attempt it was successful and then I immediately flashed back to PA and it is working. Going to give it another shot and keep the stock rom on my sd card this time in case I get stuck in a pinch.
I jumped the gun, phone activated fine but signal drops in and out randomly and will not connect to 3g. Just reflashed to stock again and everything seemed fine but signal was still back in and out. Checked under status and PRL read "0" tried updating to no avail so did the dialer code and it did the activation and all is right in the world again, or at least for the moment.
Just trying to figure out why when I flash Paranoid all my settings just disappear
*edit*
Just flashed back to PA this third time after fully making sure that the phone was working and had 3G data and all was right with the world (my phone). Will update if it goes South again but as of right now the phone is behaving properly. Maybe it just wasn't working right the first time and I didn't notice since I was on wifi. Only thing that keeps me from thinking that is I didn't get the Activation message until 12 hours or so after I had flashed and had been using the phone. /shrug
I still think flashing a modem in recovery after installing PA would yield a poisitve result

how do you flash a modem? I am new to this and this is also a problem that I am having with the same rom. I tried searching for a fix and this is where i landed.
Thank you,
and sorry if i am breaking forum rules
Hi guys. I am stuck at an impasse here and I know someone here will be able to help.
My wife and I just bought two Samsung Galaxy 2 Epics (refurbished) from the retailer Glyde. I purchased from them because they are partnered with my new carrier, Ting.
My phone activated and ported my number with no issues. Everything works perfectly.
Her phone appeared to activate and then rebooted. It will not go past the Sprint 4G animated opening. I have rebooted, wiped cache, and done factory reset. Still ... 4G logo animation appears and the screen either goes black (appears to shut down) or it just stays on the 4G logo without moving on and then a few minutes later goes black. The phone worked fine before we tried to activate it. It logged in her gmail and connected to wifi.
I am able to get to recovery mode. I was probably going to root and cyanogenmod mine. In your opinion, would this type of action possibly correct the problem with her phone? Is it possible to root and flash the original stock rom in a situation like this? Would that even work seeing that factory reset did no good?
I have contacted Glyde and am waiting - they may or may not replace. If they do replace that is a 2-3 week turn-around. I would rather work some magic here, if possible.
Thoughts and help are appreciated!
Brian
You might have to Odin a stock rom most likely
? Powered By My Moga Pro ?
9/10 Times if you can Odin it, you can fix it. BUT, restoring to stock via Odin will break your flash.
Chances are your flash is already cracked up a little.
A simple cricket nv gen google search combined with Odin, drivers, and DFS Tool. You'll be able to get it back up and running smoothly.
And if your device was on a stock rooted ROM, and you have a custom recovery, then flash a 4.1.2 Custom touchwiz ROM. That way, no programming will be lost.
If you decide to flash an AOSP/AOKP ROM like Cyanogen you could possibly break your flash.
2 cents.
fixed
Would you guys believe it was the battery? It was. I swapped batteries and the other phone started doing the same thing. Battery replaced and problem solved. I guess I panicked, but it sure seemed like a software issue. Thanks for the advice.
D851 here, When ever i switched from cloudy 2.5 to blisspop 4.0 and after wiping everything i flashed a various of radios bootstacks and etc to make it boot after many failed attempts to boot ( it boots up but after 4 or so seconds after the lg logo the screen turns black and doesnt turn back on until after i pull out the battery) it worked after i flashed the rom WITHOUT a custom kernel so naturally i booted up just fine and thought maybe now i set up everything on my phone and tweaks i should go back and flash a custom kernel i used to use (777 r16) but then it gave me the problem i faced before the black screen after the lg logo no kernal would work. THEN another problem arised similar to the freezing on the black screen randomly during a usage thru my day the phones screen would be unresponsive animations but touch wouldnt work and i know its not my screen cause when i flash back to cloudy it works fine the freezing happens at least every 5 mins. someone halp?
i know this thread is kinds old...
but i have this same issue too... I found if I switch batteries the problem isn't as bad... but, then it becomes bad again. Its weird. Before I swapped batteries I couldn't even login with my google account, after a fresh flash. then after I swapped batteries (gf has same phone) I was able to get through to the end and setup the phone. But, then an hour later it started happening again....
OP, did you find a solution?

i actaully did i think one of the problems was maybe flashing over the same kernel? see what happened was after i gave up flashing the kernel i just flashed without it and to my surprise the build actually came with the kernel pre-installed...shocker and so i had no need to flash over the kernel that i wants because the maker of g3 tmo blisspop already had it in his build and it boots up fine( DISCLAIMER: i cant say this about other roms because the only one i actually tested and wanted was blisspop)

Okay.
Well, when I was flashing I never flashed a kernel.
Ill be getting a brand new Anker Battery in the mail today. Ill report my findings.
I ended up going to a stock based rom and the issue never happened. So I stuck with it. Ill have to do some testing later and ill let you know how the battery works.
It's not the battery
I downgraded my T-Mo G3 since I couldn't root it with LP on it. Went back to 4.4.2., rooted it, TWRP'd it, and installed the latest CM12 Nightly, Gapps, SU, etc.
As long as the sim card was OUT the installation was great on wifi only, As soon as I put it in it shut off right after, or during boot up. Take the sim out and it works. And yes, the only way to get back into recovery was pulling the battery and doing the key press to recovery. Mystified.
If I find out anything, I'll post it here.
I'd say do a complete return to stock, upgrade via LG Mobile Support tool all the way to 20G, see how it works stock for a while. Then root ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g3/general/guide-root-method-lg-devices-t3129197 using the first method) and see what happens.
