[Q] AUX Cable deactivating microphone - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey,
yesterday I bought an aux-cable for connection my phone with my car-radio for using the speakers for making calls (because the intern desire speaker quite sucks). i can clearly hear the other person but not the other way round. it seems that my desire is recognizing the aux-cable as a headset and in consequence deactivating the intern micro. any other (software) solution than cutting my headset apart and solder it together again with the aux?
big thanks in advance, jakob

I'd like a solution myself, either...

headphone adapter with built-in microphone

I'm running a 3.5mm cable from Universal to my car stereo. This mutes the microhpone.
I am thinking about getting an adapter that has a micrphone built in, so I can answer calls using it, and still output sound to my car.
Is this suitable?

It seems so, if everything is connected in the right place, you should have no problems.
I know I can sound weird or techie, but, I would prefer BT to answer my calls in the car, not because I'm a techie, but because of the cables, in fact, I bought a BT headset, that I turn on whenever I'm in the car, so I pick it up and place it in my ear when I have to answer any call, it is less intrussive and safer (who knows, even nicier than have some cable running on your dashboard) -because of the lack of cables-.

enabling microphone when in handsfeee

i apologise that my first post on this incredible site is a question instead of something usefull but here goes.
i have an adapter that allows me to plug an audio jack into my phone to play music on my car radio. when a call comes through i can here the caller through the speakers but have no way of responding. i had a tytn2 that briefly (for reasons unkown) didnt turn off the phone mic alowing me to talk back. anyway to do this deliberatly on the pro2?
sorry if this has been covered did try and search
still cant find an answer. anyone?
can no one help or am i asking wrong
I use the same setup in my car.
I use this accessory http://store.everythinghtc.com/htc-multifunction-audio-adapter/11A75A4401.htm.
I have no problems and the Mic works just fine.
I've had the TytnII before and i have to say the TP2 works much better in noise cancellation.
hi,
I have the same problem than you.. with this adapter http://store.everythinghtc.com/htc-3-in-1-usb-adapter/11A75A3571.htm
I 've seen this adapter in a shop and will get it then http://store.everythinghtc.com/htc-multifunction-audio-adapter/11A75A4401.htm
Also, while using the 1st adapter connected to my car ext aux, the bluetooth earphones works for phone calls but not the microphone..
im not using an earpiece as the other person plays throughthe car speakers. was hoping to just be able to talk and be picked up on the mic on the headset. as i said this worked briefly on a tytn2 but most of the time the phone seems to turn the phone mic off as it thinks its connected to hands free
It works now perfectly for me using this adapter only:

Faulty Headphone Connection

May have to send my Desire back to TMobile. Supplied headphones do not work. There appears to be loose connection inside handset. To hear anything I must hold down jack connector and then the volume is very low, the minute I stop holding the jack it drops the sound. Anyone else finding this build issue?
Also the remote on the headphone cable will not operate. I did try the supplied headphones on another device then its o.k. so it must be the actual Desire at fault.
Your phone is probably ok!
I had exactly the same problem, but it's due to the headphone connector.
You should use a 3,5 stereo jack with 4 contacts (TRRS) instead of a the 3,5mm stereo jack with 3 contacts (TRS) which is present on all casual headsets.
You can sole it with an adapter cable.

My remote doesn't work on my Desire too. But my remote on a friend's Desire works.. grr
Thanks for the replies. Fair play to T Mobile they exchanged my phone no problem. New phone now works perfect. So pleased I got the Desire.
I found a solution for mine, it was tunewiki which override the headset buttons by default.. <clever>

[Q] GNEX loudspeaker problem

Hey guys.
Last week I broke my earphone jack plug's tip inside the earphone socket, my loudspeaker was working at that time and that was the only way I could make or receive calls cause the phone jack was stuck inside and the all sound was being sent to my earphone, so I ordered a replacement part for the jackplug and loudspeaker. I cracked the phone open and disconnected that part so I could use the phone's normal speaker while I waited for the replacement part to arrive. When it arrived I connected it and now I can use my earphones again but the loudspeaker doesn't work, not even with the old part, I must add that I used a little bit of plastic to avoid the connection of the loudspeaker and earphone plug to the board.
Can that connection be damaged? but if it is why do I get sound from the earphone but not the loudspeaker? doesn't it use the same connection?
thanks in advance
Tiago

Problem when inserting external earphones and microphone

Hi guys,
I've got this phone quite recently, and got this problem right away.
When I plug in my earphones with microphone included I'd say that 80% of the time, people can't hear my voice. They do hear a high-pitch sound, going over my voice. This happens on call, while recording audio, on what's app...
So my guess is that's a jack-connection issue. I don't have another pair of earphones or external mic to try with at that time. But I was wondering if this was a common trouble? Should I look into getting other earbuds or look into fixing the phone?
Thank you,
Probably just your headset..
Is it the one included with the phone?

I did not receive a headset with the phone no. This is one I bought previously, Symphonized NRG 3.0.
Not sure if it would help but try cleaning the earphone jack with a toothpick. Dust and lint usually get stuck inside the jack.
