Issue with SMS

When I try to respond to a received SMS, sometimes I don't get a cursor to be able to start typing. I have to close the messaging tab and reopen it and then usually the cursor appears. Does anyone else have this issue.
if your using sense, then yes i have the same problem. maybe. if your keyboard is already out when you open the message it wont have a curser. all you have to do is tap the white box where yo type and it SHOULD be fine
It's more serious than that for me.
Sometimes the area where you are supposed to type is shrunk down to about half it's normal height, the messaging app doesn't scroll down to the most recent message in the thread, and there is no cursor to start typing. I'm using the stock at&t rom minus the bloat. I love this phone except this one quirk. I mostly use my phone for texting and every other time I receive a text it seems like I have to close out and reopen it. Very annoying problem.

Not to throw my 2c in but I just realized something on my Tilt2 when a msg txt comes in for me to reply to I dont get a cursor in the box either, but you can start typing without tapping the box or waiting for the cursor.
Recently been playing around with the MAX MANILLA rom just installed a few days ago. Tried playing around with my registry learning to fix some problems.
Usually I txt through TOUCH FLO 3D and the problem is. If i was to send a txt message, it won't show up on the screen, I would have to refresh my screen to another section and come back to see my txt message.
Any tweaking suggestions?
Thanks.

Status bar issue

Hi guys,
I am experiencing something really annoying. Many times when I press the left arrow (the one that opens the menu with all apps) the Status bar drops down. This is not all: sometimes when I hit an app to open or even when I try to type something, the Status bar drops down... Could it be a screen calibration issue? Any1 experiencing the same?
Thanks.
I've noticed the same thing occasionally, but I came to the conclusion that it was my thumb or finger wrapped around the back if the screen holding the phone just touching the top corner/edge of the screen, causing the notification area to pop downwards!
Have a fiddle around using the phone and if it happens again look closely where your fingers are
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
stop holding it like it's an iPhone seriously, your left thumb is bumping into the status bar. knock it off...
I hate the iphone. Very very much. So I wont ever do anything iphone like. I thought it might be my thumb but still.. Touch is better on galaxy s unfortunately. But that phone is worth as a whole.

[Q] Disable Lock screen "no signal" widget?

Hi guys,
First time android user here. I've had a search on google and on this forum and I can't seem to find an answer to this so:
The HOX displays music controls in a widget when the lock screen is activated. However when there is no signal (such as when I am underground) this is replaced by a gigantic "no signal!" notification.
This is really annoying as it means I then have to go through the password screen and switch to the player before being able to switch track.
Is there any way to disable this notification? I mean, I can see there's no signal right there in the top corner...
Thanks in advance.
Bump
The lock screen player is amazingly buggy.
The controls often fail to work, and when there is no signal that "no signal!" message will often randomly switch back and forth with playback controls entirely unpredictably. I've come to the conclusion that this is a bug so hopefully there'll be a fix soon.
It's disappointing to see how rough around the edges a lot of the sense stuff is. It has very good intentions but frankly if this is supposed to be HTC's answer to iOS it's got a looooong way to go.

iOS doesn't even do anything, thats why it appears to work. theres no actual functions to get buggered up in the first place.
Thanks, but that doesn't actually help me with my phone. If you haven't noticed I bought an android device, not an iPhone.

one way i got round this is by pressing power button a couple more times to get the controls back on the lock screen when screen switched on again. might work for you too. still better than going through password etc.
but i agree not clever from htc. it's things like these which make products well tested and thought through.

[Q] Can anyone help me turn OFF swype?

Hi everyone!
I have a Samsung Galaxy S III on sprint, its running the stock ROM and needs to stay that way. The problem I am having is that the phone will NOT let me turn off swype. The option to deselect it is greyed out. This is VERY annoying because while typing a text message, I will sometimes role my finger a bit to one side, or i wont pick my finger up all the way. This results in massive typos and makes txting take about twice as long as it took me on my HTC Evo 4G. I have attached a screen shot of the screen showing the greyed out selection. Any help with this huge issue would be amazing!
Also, has anyone noticed an error where when typing a txt, the phone will offer you a word and if you take that suggestion and tap it, sometimes it deletes almost your whole txt message and you have to start over? I have had this happen way too many times for this not to be some strange programming error.
Anyway, thanks!
It looks like you have your default set to the Samsung Keyboard, I think that's about as much as you can do. I don't seem to understand your problem, if you're not using Swype why do you need to disable it entirely?
If you're using the Samsung Keyboard make sure you turn off the "Flow" setting. Tap the little gear at the right of the keyboard name. Or switch to a keyboard that doesn't have a "flow" setting like AI Keyboard or Thumb Keyboard. Whatever you do, don't use Swype if you don't want one finger sliding typing.
Yep!
Yep, you figured it out! Thanks mordbane! That was what fixed it! This is why I like xda and have been a member and coming here for so long, you guys have never failed me. I have attached a image of the setting I had to deselect! It was the T9 trace! No more badly messed up txts and typos! I just tested and now I can txt at a high speed with out any typos at all!
Seriously though, thanks again!

Finally took the plunge...

Hey guys! I finally used a custom ROM! Woooo!
Now, it being 4.2.2, which, I have no idea how to use, it's pretty frickin' sweet. It's PacROM by Kick Buttowski, and a modified light kernel by bubor.
I have a few questions.
First, how do I remove the stupid (pretty) notification bubble that is always on the left side of the screen? I have a status bar; therefore I've no need for this. Next, last night, after turning off the phone, and placing it on the charger, it tried to boot, but just hung in the Pacrom is Loading screen, and didn't charge the battery. I don't know what causes that, or if it's and error from CM, but it's pretty annoying.
I love the new ROM, but if it continues to act up, I think I will have to find another.
Any ideas, or suggestions?
Hey!
Halo is what that notification bubble is called. You should be able to get rid of it by double tapping, dragging it to the center, and then dragging it to the x that appears.

Thanks for the reply!
Ok, I got rid of that now. It's a nifty idea, just not one I need.
Any ideas on the boot hangup?
