Sense with (non)Sense unlock screen, answer a call etc... - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
i have a question for developers:
i love sense rom(s) but i'd like to have a Sense rom with Froyo Lockscreen, not only for unlock screen, also for answer a phone call or switch off alarm clock; is it possible?
I don't want a "fake" lockscreen like Lockbot or other apps
Can you make a zip file to install all needed apps to revert back to a Non Sense unlock screen, answer a call etc..? Which apk we need to change?
I don't like Vanilla roms because i hate Gallery 3D and camera apk and i use them (Sense's Gallery an Camera) continuosly with my 2 months son
Thanks in advance,
Andrea

Have a look at the online kitchen of modaco, you can choose to use the standard lockscreen. He does note that it will affect the use of the default alarm.
Here is the link to the topic over at modaco. (I don't know if this rom is also available on xda)
android.modaco.com/content/htc-desire-desire-modaco-com/316565/24-aug-r8-modaco-custom-rom-for-htc-desire-with-online-kitchen-2-2-froyo/
(I don't have enough posts yet to post a link)
Grtz

I flashed PinkyDesire Rom with option to use Default Froyo lockscreen and i love this, but when a call is coming the answer screen is Sense and not Froyo; i think with modaco it's the same

Had the same problem. It's horrible how it switches to the alt lock screen when a call comes in. I ditched it and went to Defrost for a trial run and it's much better. I have nothing good to say about sense.

[Q] Vanilla Dialer pickup action

When I get a call, the HTC sliding lock comes up to answer the call, I prefer the Vanilla android method of answering calls (as well as lockscreen) so I removed hte HTC lockscreen. Is there anyway to get the Vanilla Android answering tabs on a Sense ROM? I'm using the latest Virtuous Rom.
I'd also prefer to keep the HTC dialer and peopl app. But if the dialer must go inorder to get the answering method I'll drop it.

The paid app WidgetLocker may be what you're looking for
http://www.appbrain.com/app/widgetlocker-lockscreen/com.teslacoilsw.widgetlocker
EDIT: On second look, this seems to just modify the lockscreen, not the dialer action. Sorry
As far as I am aware this is not possible on a Sense based rom. You would need to use a AOSP rom to use the stock answering slider.

Vanilla Clock + HTC Dialer + Call = FAIL

Hi all,
Installed the Vanilla Clock apk to get the stock android lockscreen which I much prefer. However when I recieve a call, I still have to use the htc screen as well as the android locksreen.
Major pain in the ass. Anyway to get around this ??
No. Next time use the search button please. There are apps that remove lock screens.
Edit: Whoops, my bad I thought you were asking to change the slide down HTC screen to answer. If you delete HtcLockscreen.apk (and .odex if not on deodexed ROM) it will remove the HTC lockscreen completely. Just search next time.
Sent from your mom's phone.
Both htclockscreen apk and odex are deleted, but when I get a call it still seems to be there. I have read that it is part of the dialer .... but opinions on this vary.
Is there a way to remove it from the dialer ???

No. Unless you use tasker to disable the vanilla lock on incoming calls. The sense style lock for answering the phone is in the dialer, no way around that one.
Why not install Widget Locker, it will give you the vanilla style lock screen and a lot of awesome options!
I have looked at it, but reviews are mixed at best and apparently many issues still arise. Thanks for the responses though. Wanted to stay stock rooted, but will have to re assess.

[Q] How to change incoming call screen - Sense

Hi,
I there any way to change the default incoming call screen, when the phone is locked? The problem is that when someone calls me, and the phone is in my pocket.. the process of taking it out often involves reject or answer, while the phone is still in the pocket .
I've tried some dialers, but it seems that this is a part of htc sense.
If i can divert to standard android behavior it will help too .
Regards
Tried the App; Full Screen Caller ID ?
Yes I tried it, but its not a replacement of the default call screen .

same problem here!!
I think you have to use an other phone.apk or dailer. Then remove the htclockscreen.apk.
I wanted something similar. Just remove the htc stuff and use as only lock screen the unlock' pattern and not the htc or stock lockscreen!
I got same problem here.

Likewise, upon searching for a solution... none is found... I would very much like to use CM roms but i miss the Sense T9 dictonary... thats the reason i used Leedroids... if only cooked roms are able to change the HTC dialer to the stock ones...
There are dialer apps in the market with t9. Use one of those with cyanogenmod.

I don`t understand why Google didn`t implement t9 dialer already :/ Are there any patent`s for this? :/ Stock Android dialer sucks! aTakePhone is the best so far as I know (apart of SENSE of course )
I dont use the HTC lockscreen i removed it from the rom before install (using Revolution HD rom removed with RomCleaner)
I also removed the htcdialer.apk which does revert the phone back to the standard android answer screen (so much better imo) but your back on the android dialer and the main phone button on the homepage doesn't work either if you can live with that then just remove the htcdialer.apk.
I didn't use the phone to long without the htcdialer.apk so not sure if there are other issue's also...

Okay i did this but i must be doing something wrong...
I used Titanium Backup to remove the htc dialer ( i get repeated F/C for android core process)
Pulled out the battery.
After restart, pressing the dialer button/icon have no effect
Downloaded and used launcher pro, no effect either
downloaded Dialer one, docked it with launcher pro.. works like charm
BUT!!! When i called my own phone, im still getting that stupid HTC answer screen where u slide up and down instead of stock androids left and right...

Hmm i have been scouring the net and i seem to hit something...
If my searches is correct, the answer call slide screen is tied to the HTC Framework... Coz phones like Samsung galaxy in order to revert to the stock android lockscreen, they have to replace one of their framework files... policy something IIRC...
So wondering if any dev could look into the framework and do some editing/mods/changes?

hi,
I am having the same problem, really dont like the HTC sense screens but want to keep the stock rom as i get free turn by turn nav with my provider.
I have removed the lockscreen, so it revets to vinilla, but really want to change the slide down to answer screen?
has anyone looked into the last posed question?
It is incorporated into Sense.. No way to have a stock unlock screen and Sense ROM together...
U will have to get back to stock with scripts like "no-sense" and remove stuff from the rom after flashing it.. Or just install CM rom..
OR, this is maybe a walk around which i use it sometimes:
1. Install standard ROM with sense,
2. Install WidgetLocker
3. Set it up the way you like it
4. Choose an option to "hide the caller screen"
5. So, when it rings, you have to use the slider to unlock the screen, and then you have the sense slider (up to decline, down to answer)
This prevents to answer and gives you extra options when locked..
Hope this help.
Greets
I have gone back o Launcher Pro Plus and now instead of the htc sence slider for incoming call I get a green answer and red decline button to press.
It seems better to me but might not suit everyone.
I decided to switch back to Sence to see how things stood.
Low and behold I still have the same answer screen as I had with L.P. full screen, caller ID, and the two buttons red/green.
Don't know what I did wrong but I am glad I did.
I searched a few hours for a solution of this problem and finally found one i will try now.
The App I installed is called HD Caller ID and is free.
So for you, looking for a solution try this App. Maybe it´s good for your belongings.

[Q] LeeDroid Rom Sense 3.0 odd issue

HI Guys,
First post so huge apologies for any daft questions!
Before anyone asks I did try and search for the answer to this but with unfortunately no avail :-(
Ok, I am running the latest LeeDroid 2.3.3 ROM which is fantastic!
Today I added Sense 3.0 as linked on his page.
All is fine on boot and I'm presented with the new sense. However when i unlock the phone by moving the ring it reverts to my previous patten style unlock. This then leads onto my previous display/s.
The only difference i have is the way sms's are presented.
I can now see in the menu a category for lock screen has been added, but cannot seem to change any settings to allow Sense 3.0 interface to be running permanently?
I hope this makes sense to someone and many thanks in advance for any help i get.
EDIT* i have now noticed that it has the new alarm and incoming call interfaces.
I'm guessing somewhere within the software my old display needs ro be removed!
Regards
Rory
If you have the lock on in settings you can unlock with the 3.0 but you will always be prompted for the code.
Thanks for the reply!
I get that bit, but why do i lose Sense 3.0 all together? It is only there when the phone is locked.
I have just tried disabled the patten lock i had.
So now when i move the lock ring it goes straight to my old Sense displays?
Help.....
Hang on....
I'm not being stupid am I and that is all there is to this patch? Just the lock screen?
If so massive apologies!
EDIT* I doubt I being a moron
The weather page is different too, so it must be a software clash. Lee, or any other android gurus if you are reading this, any suggestions whatsoever as I reckon it is trying to run 2 versions of Sense?

You may find you have more sucess with this if you post it in Development section of the forum as they have much higher volumes of traffic/people on them.
Just a thought

Any Mods, could you move this thread as suggested?

Maybe your getting confused about these Sense 3.0 add-ons with Sense 2.1 etc?
If you flashed Lee's All-In-One Sense Patch (as in my signature) you just have the Sense 3.0 lockscreen, mms, weather. Installing the Rosie 3 (3D) is just the Sense 3.0 launcher, it is not full Sense 3.0, but still 2.1.
Best to install everything after Full wipe all parttions, rebooting between flashes, do not resore system apps & data, make sure clear the relevant apps data as in SEO's thread, reboot, flash Rosie 3, reboot, restore user apps & data / restore market links, reboot CWM clear dalvk, reboot, setup gmail etc and homescreens (do this last)...... I think you get the drift
Cheers that make Sense
I was starting to figure out what was going on too, but the day i posted this was after a massive session of learning how to root, change radio/kernel etc with my phone and a gps issue...... my head was not quite on straight!
Your post hits the nail on the head. I indeed only have the 3.0 lock screen, mms and weather. As of course it should be!
How do you find Rosie 3D?
Btw. Our phones apart from Rosie3D are the same software spec.
If you've flashed the sense 3 all in one, you'll find the Rosie 3D link below it on Lee's thread.

(what i meant was and apologies as it did sound like where would i find it was how do you guys like it?)
No need to answer as I can see for myself...
If you haven't already, new lockscreen options found in personalize. You can assign shortcuts to the lockscreen from there as well.
Edit: if you slow down spare parts animations to normal, weather animation shows better after pressing power button to show weather lockscreen.

Sense 3.0 Answer Call alternative

HI, I have a Sense3.0 ROM, but I can't ever seem to answer a call in time!
I find it really difficult to move the green answer call button to the ring successfully. I want to keep the lock screen, but would prefer an alternative way to answer the call - any suggestions?
+1 TOTALLY AGREE - i keep missing calls!
Working fine for me...
Running Insertcoin 1.0.9 !
I don't think you can't get an alternative, unless you modify yourself your rom !
You can try to revert to sense 2.1 or 1.9 and then apply this :
http://www.xda-developers.com/android/sense-3-0-lockscreen-for-any-phone/
Just drag the ring upwards. Same gesture as unlocking your phone.
You don't have to bother dragging the answer key ...
I had the same issue, ended up ditching it and running CM7.
Could never seem to work unless I was really quick, felt like the phone couldn't cope with the unlock, was always really slow to answer.
CM7 sorted that problem right out at the expense of the sense camera :-(
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Same here this issue caused me to move to CM7 but i missed Sense so much I am now back running IC 1.0.9
This problem is abit hit and miss as sometimes it works like a beaut. I also found workaround where pressing the trackpad can snooze the alarm etc.
I know you can flash back to the old Sense 2.1 lockscreen but i really like being able to shortcut into 4 different apps as well as the on screen text message dialog and stuff.
I find having a plain lockscreen (ie not weather/animation) helps with the unlock lag too
Ended up with XJ MIUI, even prettier than sense imho, and many lockscreen options
