would love to see this and I am willing to help provide the settings where I can. I am no chef but have been working on this for forever, i've modified the telephony.db modified the APN and now I am trying to use MMS client from Incredible. Lots of people would be very happy with this and or a MMS solution for AOSP roms, Deodexed and Odexed. I love this site and give you all major props, I post LINKS to your roms and mods and always give credit dont believe me check me out at CDMA GURUS look at my posts.
the problem is that evo roms just wont let mms work it would have to be an incredible port thats why that certain ava rom works and the incredible mms.apk makes mms work..right now wats seems to be working for the most part is after replacing the mms.apk i use chompsms to send and recieve mms and it works for now but unless we dont get an incredible rom port then we wont have everything working out of the box
I'm working on this as we speak.
I'm trying to port the latest Incredible OTA to the EVO.
I have it running on my phone and MMS is working flawlessly right now, however wifi, bluetooth, and screen rotation are not working yet. It took me a while to get the SD card and hardware keys working again, but I figured that out.
I've reached out to some people for some help with the port (like avalanchmods who did the ava froyo v2rc3 port that works pretty well) but no one has responded yet. Hopefully I can get some pointers for getting all the hardware working properly.
Once I get that working I'll post up something for everyone else. I'm running it right now without wifi and bluetooth (hardly use them anyway) and loving it, just wish the screen would rotate when using the web browser haha
Thank s dude loved jiminy cricket v2 now ztahoez is on a beastly tangent with the avalaunch z-mod

hi
ive flashed tonnes of roms and one thing pretty much guaranteed to **** up is my mms
ive got the correct settings backed up on apn manager (that ive used before and know to be correct)
ive now moved over to vanilla froyo roms, ive tried cyanogen and defrost both with the same issue.
problem is that now im just getting tiny mms pics....i mean tiny.
whats the deal with that ?
anyone know of a fix or can post their settings for me to check out ?
cheers
I think you'll find on the Android roms you do NOT have MMS PROTOCOL as an entry. This is good for me. Full size pics. But I cannot get any pics at all with sense roms. The moment I see MMS PROTOCOL after downloading a rom, I'm screwed. Transferring apn settings from a non sense Rom, leads to a FC. Be mindful of that mms protocol entry. It series things up for me.

Use the rom from Paul over at modaco r8 and remove the htc messaging and replace it with stock messaging app in the kitchen. Out of all the froyo roms this the only one that works properly with mms and o2. I have had the same issue from pretty much all custom roms. This will resolve your problem.

thanks mate, its kinda what i was thinking...
ill make r8 as vanilla as i can and just use that....i was using that before and know it to work.
thanks for the answers tho
cheers mate
White experience works on o2. Full size pics.
Back on mcr8 again and (with a little help from apn back up) all is well,
Shame the vanilla roms I tried didn't cut the mustard as far as my mms goes.
Took a while to sort stuff out with the market as it was today tho!
Talking of which, It seems to be twice as fast to download stuff as it was prior to it going down... could just be my imagination tho.

You do know white experience, vanilla Rom by neophyte works with full size mms. I'm currently on R8, but it only gave me one apn setting.
***I posted this yesterday in another section and got zero responses so I thought I'd try here.***
Hey Everyone,
So I just picked up a MyTouch Slide for my Mother (Yes I'm a good son) and I need 3 things in a ROM as a must for her.
She wants a very large font & so I know I can just go into the build.prop file and edit the density to 240. But I've tried it with sense roms and for some reason, nothing looks right & it doesn't work. I tried it on a Vanilla Froyo rom and it looks perfect.
2ndly, she is in an area where she gets like 1 bar at her house so I need Wifi Calling (I use it on my sensation and it works flawlessly). This is a must!
And then 3rdly it needs to be able to hotspot tether for her new wifi tablet.
So 3 things, again...
1. A vanilla froyo/gingerbread rom (for lcd density purposes)
2. A rom that supports wifi calling & works!
3. Hotspot tethering.
Please let me know what you suggest. Thanks for your help in advance!
I'm thinking CyanogenMod 7. I think you can change the font in that, yeah?
I don't know much about the latest nightlies, but I think a few versions back would be stable and have the wificalling.
As for tethering... well, I'm not too sure about that. Will she be taking the tablet away from home?(sounds like there's wifi at home atleast)
As far as I know the only ones with that are the sense roms. But it could be in the latest nightlies... like I said I don't know much about 'em.
Hopefully someone else comes in here, haha.
Cool man, thanks for the reply. Yes the cm6 rom is definately a vanilla rom. I guess I just wasn't sure if it worked with wifi calling, so that's great! So is that an app that comes preloaded to cm6 or is there an apk that needs to be downloaded?
And I am 99% sure every cm6 rom comes stock with wifi tethering. So that solves that.

Does anyone have a mms fix for EVO on cricket...please point me in the right direction...don't mean to be a noob just need some assistance..thanks
Did you back up apn settings with apn backup app and then disk drive your phone and edit the backup apn.xml file and put your "[email protected]" then make sure you save it as is and disconnect drive from pc then open apn backup app and delete all apns and then click restore select the .xml you edited then save exit. Go grab the mms.zip and flash it through recovery menu. Better explained here.

Thanks a lot will be looking into it tonight...thanks for taking the time
I unfortunately have tried all of the fixes but none seem to work with AOSP
Though the wife's works just fine in fresh froyo with no tweaking.

I have never been able to get MMS working in AOSP on Cricket. I can do it in any Sense rom but the APN settings in AOSP never seem to stick or work correcty.
This is the one and only reason I'm still running a Sense rom. I want badly to run AOSP so I can link up a controller to my phone but I send and receive far too many pictures to give that capability up.

I hate sense. I'm all about the aosp. I emailed a supposed cricket flash master last month asking if he has a mms solution for aosp. He respond yes but when asked if he would mind sharing the replys stopped. After a month I emaild him again and got this "No, sorry. I am a developer that makes custom roms for cricket dealers (for sale only). I do not leak my own work. "
I call BS.
Well it looks like I got Picture messaging working on Deck's AOSP rom for my wife.

Nice! What did you do?
I have an Epic Touch running ICS 4.0.4 on Virgin Mobile. Speeds, battery life and functionality are great. I am running Calkulins 1.6 rom. however, i have two issues. the first is mms. i looked at the patches and tried to apply to no avail. all the settings for ro.cdma.operator, etc are correct but no beans on the mms. i even decompiled the framework-res.apk without getting it sorted out. any ideas how to get it working. (i did get it to work on cm9 but overall performance was not as good.
the second thing is the voicemail notifier. it works on cm9 but not calkulins ics. thanks for any feedback.
I think the issue with MMS is that, you need to use a pure CM9/CM10 ROM for it to work.
The MMS issue can probably be fixed with a simple APN edit in the ##data# menu? I'm not sure, just saying.

I had previously tried that with other ROMs but that will not work. VM has some special way of encoding their MMS so a special fix was needed which works with CM9 based ROMs.

The APN edit is correct but still does not work. I am thinking that there is something in the framework-res.apk that needs to be changed. anyone have any ideas.
I would consider moving over to CM9 however, i use bluetooth audio with my phone in the car and CM9 does not allow for avrcp control in 3rd party apps where calkulins does. the 3rd party control is important to me because i dont want to be screwing around on the phone to change tracks, etc.
The missing piece is in the apk itself (I'm flashed to Cricket). If you check any other threads with alt-carrier mms fixes for our phone (I use og Epic4G fixes successfully), you'll see the mms.apk gets changed. On ICS TW ROMs though, mms gets fixed but incoming sms breaks... installing a 3rd party messaging app (I've used hand cent without issues) fixes that.
So in all, you'll probably wanna change apn's, fix your build.prop, push a modified mms apk, and install a 3rd party SMS app to get everything working.
Wish I could help more but I'm still learning

Have you tried using the the MMS Fix I posted in my last reply, that has been the fix that has gotten MMS to work. For me anyway on CM9.
If you want to have at it with getting MMS to work on the ROM you are using this might be a good place to start. Original Epic 4G to VM
MMS WORKS thanks to Brooksyx, be sure to throw him a thanks!
As of 4-23-2012, you're required to use CyanogenMod if you want MMS.

Has anyone gotten this working?
I have been switching between NOS 2.01 and NuSense One and neither of the latest builds have Verizon Visual Voicemail functioning correctly. I do not currently have enough posts to post on developer forums but did not want to just post useless posts to meet the quota. Has anyone had any luck getting VVM working with 4.3/sense 5.5? Maybe someone has a separate flashable zip that can be applied. I have searched and cannot find any source. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Not that I know. I have tried with other Roms on other phones and had the same problems. I finally just said f it and just started using Google voice

It seems like it worked on NuSense RC3 but camera was broken. Now in RC4 camera fixed and VVM broken. NOS 2.01 I can get to vvm to work but it reports media type not supported when attempting to play back message. So close yet so far away.

I'll check it out.
Working on a new build...
I recall dealing with this on the Thunderbolt and Dna as well and it shouldn't be too hard, except that I don't use it to be able to test.
May take one or two more shots at it to get it nailed down, hopefully not.

Thanks for the response. I have been trying to figure out how to get the problem posted to your thread. I have been flashing roms for years but apparently haven't been using xda. Thank you for your hard work on this Rom. It is awesome. If you need someone to beta your RCs I would be happy to. If you need me to try out the vvm tests I would be happy to as well. When I bought the One after running over my gnex, I thought my flashing days were over... So glad they are not. I thought I was a pure vanilla man, but I am suprised how much I like sense. Then add in 4.3 with sense 5.5 and it is awesome.
Thanks again for your hard work. Hopefully soon I will be able to post my findings directly to your thread .
I have a question

Did you ever come up with a fix for this? Im on the new viper rom that released the other day and miss some of the VZW features.
I remember this from my Droid Incredible days, it was a prop.build fix back then:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=953746&highlight=vvm
Change ro.HorizontalVVM=true to false, and use the attached app
Not sure if this will work or not.
You have to re-boot, and may have to rename the original VVM client to like bak or whatever
