Hey guys, I really want to root my phone mainly to get rid of the 30 fps cap and to get rid of the bloatware etc... but I am completely illiterate when it comes to this stuff and I know I will just mess up my phone. Is there any way to find out if someone can do this for me locally or something of the sort? I already read the unrevoked method, but still looks too complicated and I wouldnt know what to do afterwards. Any help is appreciated.

P.S. Willing to pay if they can properly do it and install the ROMS that allow >30fps.

Let me start of by saying I'm really grateful for all of the hard work all the devs put in for this big win! But I'm trying to weighout waiting for a 1 click or if I should test my adb skills. You know how it goes. Thanks everybody!
This has already been done with visionary

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but if following the very clear and succinct step-by-step instructions worries you too much, I'd question if you should be rooting your phone to begin with. You can mess up a lot on a rooted phone if you don't know what you're doing.

you got a replacement for your phone because you couldn't take the time to revert on your own and then apply the update? shame on you.
@OP
root is very easy, if you can read and follow directions you will be fine, but what the others say is true, if you are worried then you should either learn up on your sdk tools or not root your phone because i promise you will get a bootloop one day and not know what to do and you will ask us if it is broken and how to fix it(unless you have been doing your reading), and most likely if we tell you how to fix it then you are going to need adb anyways
rooting is really easy if you use the rage method.

Thanks for being a ****, but your anti failed, I upped my ADB to spite you. 3 phones rooted, no problems yet.
It's just my opinion, but I don't think the one-click root method is great for the G2. Unlike the Vibrant there is a step that can brick your phone, and you are best doing that one by hand. Plus, learning ADB will make your life sooooo much easier when you actually do root the phone.
Rooting is just the first step, then you have to do cool stuff to it. Then you need to screw it up, and then you need to fix it. All of that is made much easier or requires ADB.

Haha, so true.
I just updated my EVO to 2.3.3 without knowing that unrevoked can't root it. I was just curious if anyone knows if there is any way to root the EVO with the most recent update? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-Kire
You can't root or downgrade the OTA yet, you'll have to wait.
If you had to guess, how long will it take? I'm just really anxious to root my phone and put Cyanogen 6-7 on it lol.
In the same boat. Just got a replacement phone today.
It sucks, I just want to root my phone lol. I mean I love sense, don't get me wrong but I just like to completely customize my phone. As well as get more apps.

I told the chick at best buy I didn't even want her to take mine out of the box. She tried to say she had to in order to activate it, but I told her no.
She didn't have a choice then.
That's funny. It's good you went to best buy, if you went to the actual sprint store they'd be like, um no. Lol.

I got mine from the Sprint store and started talking indepth Android with the guy and confused him so much that he just handed me the box without opening it. Haha
so where is our root? I would like to know this> This is not acceptable.
I would like to know where our root is as well. It is quite unacceptable. It should have been done before or directly after the update was released.

I'm sorry, but this is what's unacceptable. It's not like you have some God given right to root your phone, and how dare someone not dedicate more of there time towards helping you, for free at that. I mean, what do you think is going to happen? A developer is going to read your post and think, "oh ****, he's irritated, I better get on the ball!"
Yeah, probably not. It's still a sweet phone, just relax and enjoy it. There's more than enough to do to keep you occupied.

Hello all. I wasn't sure where to put this or if anyone can help. If this is in the wrong section please move it or let me know.
My friends DInc was stolen today. I was wondering if there was any way to track it or hack into it to find out where it is.
We filed a police report and called Verizon to report it stolen. Is there anything else I can do?
The phone is rooted but I don't believe that there is anything on there to track it or anything like that. The phone is also on my phone plan but does not have insurance. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Not sure if this would work or not but its worth a shot. You could go to market.android.com. Download an app that has gps tracking feature and find it that way.
Thanks for the suggestion! I will try that as soon as I get home tonight. I don't think it will work but I will give it a shot. Will the phone need to be on to install the app? Or will there need to be any user intervention on the phone itself?

Brand new to the Note 4 - yesterday - and admittedly sick and brain dead atm. If I root will my apps and my extSD play nice or will I have the same issue? I'm used to root and it's driving a bit nuts not being able to use the SD properly. I want to wait a bit to root, but...
Thanks!

The Note 4 has been discontinued. Not sure what youre holding back on root for. Theres nothing to lose and everything to gain.
Trial and error. Root and see.

 Yeah, I get that. Problem comes in because I just bought it yesterday. If I need to return it for some reason... you know the rest. Just want to know if root fixes it or not. If not, no worries and I'll stay unrooted for a while longer. If it does, then yay and I'll move up my root date. As it is I feel like it's hobbled.
Thanks!

I get your reason for not rooting for now. lol Thought it was merely just not want to root thing.
Stick to your guns, hopefully someone who uses apps heavily can contribute to this Q.

That's what I'm hoping. Once I'm sure I'm keeping it, and make sure I can keep it on KK with root until the LP bugs are worked out, then I'll do the dirty deed. Was hoping not to have to, but the garbage like the extSd thing and apps that can't be frozen are driving me nuts.
Thanks again, mate! :good:

Hey guys, im pretty sure i know the answer to this question but i was hoping for some help anyway. I managed to encrypt my phone and restart it and now i dont remember the password.
I have a bunch of my kids baby pictures on it and im desperate to try and unlock it, is there any chance there will ever be discovered some exploit or if anyone knows how to get into it?
I know about bruteforcing the screen lock with a kali phone but i cant seem to get it to work.
If anyone knows a way, ill be forever grateful, even if i need to keep it for 20 years until someone finds an exploit.
Thank you guys.

Having kids means having a really good reason to have some sort of photo backup. Typically I'm very skeptical when retrieving photos of kids as the reason to bypass lock screen security.

To be honest i fell into a short but very bad meth addiction stint last year, i had recently upgraded from OP7 and got paranoid and started screwing with security settings, because of being wound up on meth i forgot the password almost immediately after i changed it, literally seconds after.
Because of my meth addiction creating paranoia i didnt backup my stuff ever, now i do selfhost a cloud at home where i got automatic backups, i learnt my lesson. I wanted to avoid judgement therefor i didnt mention it in my initial post.
Im not a petty thief, father of two and got a steady job, i just fell into the darkness for a while because of depression and PTSD. No stolen devices here, i could probably even produce a receipt for it if it helps.
