Ok so I was goofing off and came across away to get speaker phone to work.
These are the steps I took.
1.I booted into android with speakerphone on so the mic works.(not sure who came up with this bit it work)if you don't know how to do this all you have to do is make a call in winmo turn speakerphone on and wait tell the lights on the hard buttons turn off or they will be on the whole time.
2.get a audio file that has no sound in it. 10 15 secs should do the trick I made my own.
3. TAke that audio file and create a playlist with just that and make sure repeat play is on.
4.create a shortcut to that playlist on one of your home screens.
5. Call the person you want to talk to and press the speakerphone key and then go to your home screen where the shortcut is and play it.
Yes you have to play it the whole call but at least you can use speakerphone now.
Hope this helps some people.
So you have an active call going with speakerphone on, and playing a track with no audio... at the same time?
Interesting fix. I'll have to try it out. Now if I could just get the 3.5mm jack working!!

Yeah a blank audio here is one that some one on ppcg made for me ,its better then the one I made.
the audio jack has a work around however i think if you use the code in the start up you only get audio through it.
snd.force_headset=2
have fun.

looks good. but it is not free.
well, i used this app since my S1. it works great. but sometimes the caller's sound is not clear/light. anyway, so far so good for me.
MOD EDIT HDser Comment removed as it is not in line with our site policy
while browsing trough my windows folders, stumbled uppon record.exe, or something, it was build in by windows, but has been removed, at least, not able to start it up, maybey a way to install it again
I have tried this software, and the voice of the person that talked with me was very low.

I totally agree
It works well if you put the speakers on during the call.
I know this way everybody in the room will hear the convo, but.. it works.
LOL.
Audio notes touch just not good enough...
It doesnt record the one you are talking with (you can vagely hear the other person, as the microphone picks up some of the sound from the personal loudspeaker).
I would like to record all of my calls (crispy clear sound from both parts), and I cant run around with the back side speaker on.
Anny suggestions?
Another ROM update or maybe another program?
thnx..

I went into setting to check off the box where it says turn over phone to use speakers or something similar, when i am in a call i put the phone face down all i see is a green light on the little microphone thingy next to the speaker, nothing from the back speaker at all.
I thought you supposed to be able to do speaker phone by just placing the phone face down, help?

Yes, works well for me.
Must be placed flat down on a table or something similar.
Might want to double check, its checked in settings>personal >phone>advanced settings. Once call is initiated it takes a second or 2 for the speaker phone to ramp up the volume.
Great conference call phone in this mode. 2 speakers, 2 microphones.
my speakerphone does work like it's supposed to.
I do have another issue with Straight Talk though involving the To/CC options in emails. They aren't there. I created a thread, but put it in the wrong forum & no mod has switched it over to here yet.

i have figured out why, the gyrator thing is f'ed up when i tried to install something, just had to recalibrate it.
Some of you may have this problem, some of you may not, but me and my cousin have this problem with our G2 where the sound from the other line is very quiet for us when we use the phone... as a phone. So what I want to know is, is there any way to increase the sound on for this? Do we have defected phones?
I have this problem as well. In call volume is maxed out but it doesn't sound very loud at all.
I have root access with CM 6.1.0 RC3.
My calls are loud and clear. Its the speaker phone thats low for me.
Does it happen with all calls incoming and out going?
Also are you on wifi?
How is your signal strength?
Same with me my speak phone volume is lower than I would like it, but head set speaker loud and clear

Yes, it's all of the calls that I make and receive. I'm never on wifi and my signal strength during the calls are all good. It may be just me also, but the G2 mic may be quiet also because when I call my cousin he sounds like he's whispering to me but when I call someone else their sound is just quiet, but enough to hear it with a small bit of background noise. I haven't asked him how the sound was when I called him since it's something I just noticed.
Mine's a little soft as well. It kinda sucks that one of the few flaws with this phone is it's use as a phone, lol.

You sure the phone volume is up? Also have you called Tmobile about this?
I have had mine for a little over a month and it is loud and clear, I have no issues hearing anyone, and no one has issues hearing me... really good sound quality imo. I am on stock rom still. Speakerphone is very weak for me as well.
Yeah, in call phone volume is incredibly weak for me. Going to try to boot into stock and see what happens. Is there an app to make the volume louder? Or some way we can change it?
EDIT: Okay. Turns out that I am an idiot. Phone is still new for me so I left the default protective screen on. As soon as I took that off, phone calls were a lot more clear. Just ordered a proper screen protector so I just have to be careful until then haha. Don't know if this will help out anyone but hey, figured I let you guys know.
You know, the real problem with the G2 is HTC quality control on those. I'm on my second G2...the call volume is way lower than my first one...
also the keyboard is a LOT better on the second one, I didn't care at all about the keyboard on my first G2, as the keys were very recessed and didn't have a real "feedback", so I never used it. Made me think the whole keyboard thing about the phone was useless, now I'm in love with it.
My problem is the hinge on the second G2 is much looser than the first one.
If you bought yours recently, just exchange it.

I'm positive the phone volume up. I haven't called T-Mobile yet because I haven't had time.
Ditto on the in call volume, would like to boost.
Anyone try this app Louder Volume Hack v4.1?
http://www.appbrain.com/app/com.AutoMod
I came from an HTC Aria and had the same in call sound trouble, then I tried Louder Volume Hack v3.6 but no luck, did not work.
Instead after some other searching I found a XDA forum that suggested turning on the TTY for the Hearing Impaired option in the Aria and waa-laa ---it worked. Apparently though, this TTY / Hearing Imparied option does not exist in the SOUND settings for the Z.
So, still looking for idea on the in call volume boost.

Theres an app called DSP Manager on CM 6.1.1 that i used to up the voume a whole lot. It comes already installed when you install that rom.
My speaker works great except during a call. I can't hear a thing from it when on a call however. It must be a software issue, then. I started a thread a bit back, but with no luck. I hope we can find a fix.
my in ear sound isnt that loud either.
Ok...regarding the app called DSP Manager on CM 6.1.1, I checked into this, but is appears it only helps on the "media" volume but NOT the phone speaker or in call volume for when the phone is to my ear during a call.
Can you advise, is DSP Manager helping for this in call volume?
Ok...
I found 3 different versions of DSP manager and frankly am afraid to install w/o having a little more dialog with some of you that may be wiser than me.
The three files are attached and as listed are:
DSPManager120210_ALL.zip
DSPManager_080910.apk
DSPManager_100810.zip
The DSPManager120210_ALL.zip file came from this link and appears to the the latest
https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_packages_apps_DSPManager
The APK file came from this XDA link
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=750765
Anyway, after looking at the DSPManager_100810.zip file in unzipped mode, the file structure is different than the other zip file, which makes me a little nervous to flash uisng ROM Manager of Clockworkmod.
Meanwhile, I may install the APK file because I can easily uninstall if there is no improvement in the IN CALL VOLUME.
Any insights are welcomed.
Well I dove in and thank goodness for NAND backups...
Here is the deal (as of 12/31/10 4:05 PM EST):
- DSPManager120210_ALL.zip DID NOT FLASH
- DSPManager_080910.apk INSTALLED BUT NO CHANGE ON MY DESIRE Z A7275
- DSPManager_100810.zip FLASHED BUT NO EAR PEICE SOUND NOR SPEAKER SOUND
Now as of 12/31/10 4:11 PM EST in an restoring from my 12/31/10 10:00 AM EST NAND backup.
Gosh I hate doing this trial and error stuff, talk about a heart attack.
Will update after I complete my full restore and hope all is back in fully operational order.

UPDATE....FULLY RESTORED 4:21 PM EST...PHEW!!
Thank you Koushik Dutta for clockworkmod!!!

I'm soo sorry bro, I luld Happy new year!
Hey guys,
This is a simple one-line change. It's only going to effect the condition where you are in-call and audio is one-way (the other end can't hear you, but you can hear them...) and for example flipping speakerphone on/off will fix the problem. This patch, will hopefully keep you from having to do that!
This kernel is built off of the autobuild from .27, so the newest kernel + this tiny patch. They are attached for your convenience, let me know if the above effect is achieved. Replace as usual per Incremental Updates
I don't really care about wifi, BT, any of that! Only if the in-call audio routing has improved!!!
Testing complete! Kernel revoked, it's now in the autobuild folks .
Devs Only!
(Here's the patch...)
I call shenanigans! It's a three-line patch, not a one-liner.

Oy, this is all the feedback I've gotten? I guess the patch will just go in untested, lol.
I don't see that it'll hurt, since it just calls msm_setup_audio. Sadly my phone not like network so it's not on talking terms.

Yea, I don't think it'll hurt either...
I don't have the bug (in-call audio has pretty much always worked for me...) so I'm not a good test case. For those that do have in-call audio issues that are resolved by flipping the speakerphone on/off, I'd like them to test this kernel to see if that issue goes away.
I don't have the issue either, put something in the title about spkrphone flipping or something.
ill try and check this out tomorrow after my exam!

Hum... this kernel should not have changed anything but in-call audio. It shouldn't affect ringtones, music, sounds...
The sound has appeared, it was visible only in the beginning, phone can be still simple wasn't loaded.
But for incomming call is not changed, all as is necessary speakerphone flip on/off
testing two day

What build are you running?
FRX07
with kernel from this theme and latest rootfs
I have applied this kernal to my Rhod500. I am interested if this may correct my in-call routing for Bluetooth... So far the way I've found to get that to work is to activate my headset after I initiate a call. After I make one successful call the routing seems to stay in place until I turn the headset off.
If I have the headset on I can make a voice activated call but then after the call connection is made the audio routes to my speaker phone...
So thanks arrrghhh... I'll test this out and report back... I'm also using the latest test RIL from hyc which has been stable for me so far...

I seriously doubt this kernel will effect BT audio routing whatsoever... But give it a shot. Just don't expect it to...
The only thing this should fix is audio routing to the on-board mic. Flipping the speakphone on/off kicks this code into gear, and this line that was added basically forces it in a similar way, without needing to flip the speakerphone on/off.

Well you were correct, but it was worth a try... I did notice that their isn't as much of a ringing noise in calls now but that could have been the new RIL from hyc...
Something interesting to note, but not sure if it means anything. When I make a call then enable my BT headset. The headset will connected and the BT In-Call volume panel will popup on the screen for a brief moment.
Thanks...
I have Note 4 AT&T 910a. The caller barley hears me when I make or receive calls. I need to put my phone on speaker for the caller to to hear me better. When I make a voice recording I hear my recording but not much. Can I boost up the volume in this area. Please help.
For those who are having this problem and looking for someone to reply because no one has replied, I will tell you the things I have done after doing some research on the web:
1. I made a recording with the Voice Recorder-about 10 seconds. I hear the sound but very low.
2. I put the phone in 'Safe Mode' to make sure no app is creating the issue and
tried the Voice Recorder again-about 10 seconds. Same I hear but low.
Now what?? I don't know...Searching

1. You can try factory reset and see if this improve mic.
2. Try to clean microphone.
3. Hardware issue. You need to replace microphone.
Good luck
Note from Note V
After much probing I found that my two microphone holes near the usb charging port were 95% stopped up causing very little sound going in. So
I took a needle and carefully cleaned up the holes and called my son and he heard my call perfectly.
Mission complete. Thanks guys for your input and help.
