does anyone else's ear piece sound really bad? almost like a blown speaker? If i'm on bluetooth it's obviously fine, but if i put the phone up to my ear it's really annoying.
Nope, good call quality with ear piece

My EVO's back speaker sounds distorted. It's very scratchy sounding. My Hero had the same problem and all I did was took it in and they replaced it. Is it an HTC thing or am I the only one?!
Mine has been sounding that way lately too. This sucks, even my ringtones sound like garbage now
Thats an easy way to get a brand new one for free

True story. I went in and Sprint ordered me a new one. Originally they said they were gonna order me a refurb but I raised cane about wanting a new one so the issue wouldn't happen again if it was a hardware issue. Ended up getting a brand new one in the box and a bluetooth headset because it took so long.
Was this within the 30 day policy? My front speaker sounds like crap anyone else have that problem?

mine sounds like that whenever i set volume at its highest
The speakers in these phones are little ribbon speakers, they're crap but it's the only thing that will fit in the phone that keeps the thin profile.
My buddy ran into this TWICE now, where it sounded like it was blown. Sprint repair centers will replace these on the spot if they have them for free if you've got the insurance. Basically if any dust or metal or ANYTHING gets near that speaker, it vibrates with the ribbon and makes it sound like crap. My friend uses a grinder in his shop sometimes, and he had the SMALLEST metal particles that got into the speaker housing and damaged it. The earpiece speaker is the same type.
I am on my 3rd blown rear speaker since august so I decided to order a 5 pack of speakers so I don't have to unroot and drive 45 miles to the closest repair center to get my speaker changed. I have a coworker with a Droid Incredible that has a blown speaker and I was wanting to see if they use the same rear speaker as the evo. Hope there is someone that can give me a definite answer. Thanks.
Are you talking about the speaker or the battery? your title says battery...
And how exactly do you blow 3 speakers?
Not sure about the rear battery, but I'm pretty sure they use the same front battery..

confirmed, same front battery
Front battery or rear battery depends on how you hold the phone.
I'm sorry, I meant speaker. I don't know why the hell I said battery. So, my question is does the Evo and the Droid Incredible use the same rear speaker, the loud speaker?
I wonder why your speakers are blowing are you using any enhancements?
Swyped from Eva running Myn's RLS4!
The only thing I can figure that is making them blow would be metal shavings. I am an electrician so u drill pretty often and the magnet on the speaker draws in shavings. I clean it out constantly with tweezers, being sure not to push them into the speaker. I also use an equalizer to lower the bass to help prevent them from blowing.
Yea that could be the prob are you using a case if so what type.

did you ever figure out if they are compatible ? I sell speakers for the evo and I am going to start selling for the incredible .. If I only have to stock one that would be much easier!
Have any of you heard a rattle coming from your LGOG? Maybe around the camera or volume rocker buttons? I thought it was my sim tray at first but the rattle is still there even when I take the sim and tray out. I had an iPhone before and I know that the camera in them rattled a bit and it was normal. Any insights?
Could be the vibrator or power key

The camera lense
I'm thinking it was the vibrate motor now. I heard it this morning but now it's disappeared. Quite strange.
Power button mine does it to but not that bad ...
Rattle in mine too. Seems to be normal.
I am pretty sure it is the rotor on the vibration motor. I use to fix watches at a jewelry store. Automatic watches have a similar rotor that spins to tighten the main spring. If you shake a watch with this system you can hear the motor spinning on the bearing.
It most phones this is completely unnoticeable. But, it seems quite apparent in this one. It could be that the tolerances in this bearing are looser. Anyways, gently shake the phone next to your ear. You will hear it. I am in the CDMA version for Sprint and I have the same sound. The nexus 4 probably does too.

I just purchased a Optimus G E975 today, and i clearly have a rattle noise, I have try to hold down both the power and the volume keys but the rattle is still there!
I do not hope that it is a manufacturing defect..?
There is a thread more about it here:

Why are you guys so worried about this? All phones have this. It sounds or feels louder/stronger on glass backed phones. The iTurd 4/4s both had the rattle as well.

Hey guys,
I am having problems with a htc one x after repairing the display and digitiser.
First of all the repaired worked like it should but I noticed the top and bottom speakers didn't work afterwards... So I opened it up again and noticed that I placed a piece off tape over some connectors of the speakers at the bottom, so I removed it and i had sound again, but now for some reason there is no sound while calling... Anybody knows if the call speaker is the same as top speaker and which connectors are used for the call speakers? Cause there is no sound at all... Although the other side of the call does here everything, so the mic is doing fine.
Greetings

Nvm, problem solves, i forgot to take out the earphone from the old casing for the screen and place it in the new casing

Is it just me or is it impossible to use the ear piece for a phone call and actually understand the person on the other end? Speaker phone works great, Bluetooth great, but using the ear piece I get what sounds like enormously compressed audio to the point of borderline just noise.
Anyone else or is my device broken? I had the screen replaced but never used the ear piece before that (I typically use Bluetooth). Did the repair mess up my earpiece?
Mine works perfectly as good as my note 10+

Thanks for the reply. Sounds like mine was either defective or they broke it replacing the screen.
Probably the latter..

sorry to hear. but your ear piece was probably damaged during the repair.
