I am using Leedroid 2.0a ROM.
and I am having problem with importing contacts from Facebook.
Actually with importing one single contact. (All other contacts was imported succesfuly).
How can I import this person? I can see it on facebook widget.. but I can not import it to my addressbook on desire contact list...

Is there option to import all Gmail/Facebook contacts without pictures? This should be VERY VERY USEFUUL.
Looks like I am talking to myself It is strage since this is very anying feature.
If anybody have a solution, special for sycing contacts WITHOUT THEIR PICTURES I would be very very pleased

i had to manually delete all my msn contacts from my hotmail acct do not have them synced into my address book on ppc.. its one of the most ridiculous features of live messenger! is there an easy way to NOT have them shown in the address book ?????
I'd also like to know if we have a "trick" to remove those contacts from the smartphone's contact directory *without* deleting them from Homtail's contact list.

I have come to realize that I probably will have to live with it as is. This new version gives you the option to consolidate your phone contacts with the messenger contacts and boy did I hate the duplicates in the older version. Maybe the next version will give us a chance to keep them out of the contacts list.

With the android sdk and the function loadContactPhoto i only get the manually added photos ...

yes that's possible.
Use the app "Facebook Sync" and it will do the rest

I want to read the already stored facebook photos (Hero do this) into my programmed app.
With the standard SDK from android i dont get the photos..
HTC overrides the normal contact photo with the facebook one, try to look at the contact database probably you find something

loadContactPhoto will grab what *android* has set as the contact's photo. However, the facebook integration is an HTC addition, so there is no android API to grab it. An illustration of this: A contact in my phone has a facebook pic associated with it. I look at that same contact in my GMail's GTalk list, and it shows the manually set pic. So the HTC People app chooses its own pic from either Facebook or the Google Contact pic.
This may change in Eclair, as android 2.0 will have facebook integration included. HTC may have gone with the android API over their own, I'm not sure.
Thanks, i know, but i have seen other apps that are display the facebook photo on the HTC Hero on there app. For example Handcent SMS...
So there must be a way to grab this HTC facebook photo...
Does nobody knows how to get the HTC Hero Facebook photos?
I personally don't know. Try contacting the dev for ChompSMS or Handcent. I know those two pull the facebook pics.

I recently exported some contacts from my old windows mobile phone into a vcard since this is what Google Suggests
So I imported the vcard file into Gmail, and somehow it's
it's put all the contact information into the note field. Perhaps it did this because perhaps at one time I had duplicates of them all and it merged the contact information?
Well all the contact fields are blank except the note field which looks like this

So the problem is when I sync up my contacts with my Evo only the names are listed because theres no phone number in the phone number field it's just in the notes field. And so when I compose a new text message and search for a contact none pull up. I can go into "people" and see the names but yea thats about it.
Please help I haven't searched diligently and I haven't found any solution to this problem.
Any thoughts or ideas on this would be greatly appreciated.

Never seen a recommendation to use a Vcard. I exported to a CSV, and everything imported perfectly.
You should import a csv file to gmail, that should def.ly do it for you.

+1 to everyone else here. I used csv as well and had little problems. I already had some contacts in gmail and had dupes, but gmail also has an option to remove dupes for you.
I stumbled over this topic when my sister asked me if her cousin was younger or older than her... My contact list couldn't tell me.
I have no clue why the on-board facebook app doesn't sync birthdays of contacts as well.
After some research I found EboBirthday, which does exactly what I want - however, even though it imports all of the birthdays, the export function only exports about 10% of them to my contacts.
I couldn't find any other app for that purpose, all of them just export to calender.
Anyone got an idea? Is this fixed in Froyo or Gingerbread so I just have to wait for a new ROM?

I arrange the contacts into categories but when open the main page of the contacts I get all of them. Is it possible to choose only one category?
For instance, when Im at work I need my business contacts. When Im abroad my abroad contacts etc..
Is there a contacts app that can do this? Otherwise the stock contacts app is fantastic but this is a really important feature for me.
