Hi everyone, I'm just trying to find a good rom that has 4g and fully operational. Love the warm 2.2 but don't know whats better to try.speed is key with battery perks.thanks for the help

I'm new to the whole rooting scene but from my understanding all sense based roms have functional 4g. I think cm7 now has 4g also. I've tried mikfroyo and am currently using koni's elite series II beta and both had functional 4g. Hope this helps and if I'm wrong on any of this some one please correct me.

Your running the best one if you like sense. CM7 4x is good if you want to run senseless
All sense roms will have working 4g. Cm7 is not fully functional but the 4g works OK. all other AOSP roms(not very common) wont have 4g for a while.
A drop of Chuck Norris's semen was placed on the IPhone. We now have the Htc Evo.
if you stick with the sense popular roms, mikfroyo, warm, etc, you are good to go. Ultimately it depends on what tweaks you like.
Try calkulin with battery saver mod

Yep. All Sense based ROMs will work with 4G enabled. CM7 natively doesn't have 4G but there is a version of CM7 called gginggerbread-6 in the development section that has working 4G.
As for battery life, it depends on your phone. You will have to test that yourself. Make sure you calibrate your battery properly and test it for a week. It is based on the ROM, kernel and overclock/underclock settings, and your usage. So its pretty daunting. My suggestion is once you find a good working kernel and ROM, stick with it for battery life.
If you aren't sure which ROMs to try, check out the poll in my signature for the most popular.
Thank you all so much for the help

easy way is Evo sense based check
AOSP based - CM (more to follow)
Ports - TBD haha
I was wondering which ROMs are great with battery like compared to the blood sucking stock

Try cm7(aosp) #36 or Myns 2.2 warm if you like sense; both have great battery life. Also if battery life is REALLY important you might want to invest in a 3500 extended battery or have 2 stock batteries

Most of the more popular ROMs can get good battery life with the right Kernel/ROM combo, in my experience.
I second myns warm TwoPointTwo.

+1. Myn's Warm 2.2 RLS5 is an awesome Rom and smooth as butter. I get better battery life on Myn's using the kernel listed in my signature. Koni's Elite is also a good Rom.
Yep, Myn's 2.2 is the best ron I've used for battery life. I could easily get 2 full days out of it with moderate usage

Does these Roms have sense 2.0 and wimax? Wimax isn't all that important to me because my area doesn't have 4g yet.

Would I need to flash a custom kernel to get good battery life?
XDA app on EVO 4G
I've been averaging 30-40 hours on gingerbread-evo-deck (AOSP) with SZ 1.0.1 CFS HAVS (stock battery, light to moderate usage). I loved Sense too, until I found out how much better my battery life and performance could be on an AOSP-based ROM. And after a little bit of searching, I found good replacements for the Sense widgets I'd come to love so much. I tried a ton of sense ROM and kernel combinations and the best battery life I could get was about 15-20 hours with Fresh 3.5.0.1 and Netarchy 4.3.1. But that's just me. Everyone says that ROMs and kernels can work very differently on different phones, so it's worth trying out different combinations yourself to see what works best for you.
I just don't want to lose any data, so what's the best app to use for backing up apps and other data before rooting

Google backs up your contacts and calendar automatically if you set them up to sync. Titanium backup is a great program to backup apps once you're already rooted, but I don't know of anything that will do it without root. It kind of sucks, but I think you might just have to set everything up again and re-download all your apps (that's what I did); fortunately, it's a lot faster and easier to restore everything once you're rooted and have Titanium backup. Any apps that you bought in the Market, you can download without paying again, but you still have to go in and download everything individually. Maybe someone else knows a better solution?
I can't think of one, but you should be able to back everything up once you Root. Don't think you'll lose anything from just rooting. Shouldn't anyway.
After a quick search, it looks like MyBackup Pro by Rerware might let you back up more than you could normally and it doesn't require root. I haven't tried it so I can't really say everything it does or how well it works, but it might be worth looking into.

Good luck with that kind of find...
If you're looking for a sense-like feel, why not just go with a sense ROM? I personally use Synergy ROM and everything works super fast, no issues, and service seems to be better than when I had CM7 on it. That and sense ROMs also make full use of the phone's hardware, such as the camera...
The support and extras are a pretty sweet deal, as well.

Signal strength is not universal. You can have the same signal strength on your phone but it will display as a different number of bars based purely on your ROM. CM seems to be one of those ROMs where I have a really good signal yet I'm only showing about 2 or 3 bars. Its just the way the ROM displays it. Flashing another ROM and getting more bars doesnt mean your signal strength is any stronger or weaker at all.
Also, if you're looking for a sense feel then just get a sense ROM. There are a lot out there to choose from. I'm actually thinking of running Boot Manager on my phone and flashing a sense ROM alongside CM7 so that I can make use of the abilities of the sense ROMs when I need to.
I switch between Fresh 4.22 and CM7 pretty regularly and love battery life/performance of both. I use Tiamats 4.1 SBC on CM7 and the stock kernel on Fresh, although it would be choice if there were a Sense SBC kernel.

I keep coming back to Mik's roms. On MikG now and love it. Battery life is great too but then I use all the app tricks I can find. App2SD / DroidWall / SetCPU / StartUp Auditor. If your signal strength is bad just call Sprint and ask for an Airvanna. Once it's hooked up you should be up to 4/5 bars constantly. That's been my experience.
Have you tried team nocturnals merge Rom its sense based with an soap feel its pretty nice if you are trying to have your cake and eat it too

MIUI. It's pretty, has nice built in apps including an awesome theme manager (no social networking though, if you're into that), and you still get great battery life. It's not bloated, but I find it to be the intermediate between Sense and your typical AOSP roms. I've been running one version or another of it for almost a year.
Supersonic Evo 4G | MIUI | Tapatalk
My custom made cm7.2 kanged and compiled from source is my daily now, prior to that was my own modded version of decks 1.3 for sense mikg 3.0 or the classic and ics my compiled and frankensteined cm9 I have it on my evo and my kindle fire
We are legion, for we are many
I've been running the express beta for about a month now. Fast, relatively bug free, and I can get 2 full days out of my extended battery.
Edit: and it has 4G, wouldn't run a ROM without that...
Thanks for the replies.... I've tried the classic v005 and like it a lot... even tho its sense 1.0 it works.... was going to try the final RC mix rom from Jan 24th with the anthrax kernel v4 and see how it goes .. hopefully I get great performance as well as battery life.... since I'm a heavy user lol

Galnet Miui on desire HD. I flash the weeklies. Always wait a few days though. Sometimes a weekly is bad.
my brother is curently using an aosp rom on his evo but it lags its very slow and just the signal on i stinks. what rom can i install in his phone that is good. and as in good i mean sense or sensless, that has everything working as well as 4g. fast that will not make his phone slow and if possible will get a really god benchmark score? just a very good fast reliable rom. please and thank you!
A few good roms I've tried: Currently running nitrous 1.5.1 great battery life with stock sbc kernel, SOS by swagstr has the amazing aroma installer with TONS of options, sense or senseless, if you'd like to try something different, check out decks reloaded. It really is top notch gingerbread. Also if you want to keep the same Rom try changing kernels or updating your pri or radios.

and those first ones you mentioned; are they reliable like no lagg faster. and 4g working?
Yes. Super reliable. Ive been running nitrous for about a month and the only lag I had was from me screwing around with the wrong settings.
