I was looking to get a app that I can control my laptop through the internet, anyone have any experience with these apps, ive only seen a few out there. I want to use dropbox with it too so i can just store, send, receive files from my laptop to my phone whenever.
Gmote works great... flakey on 64bit win7 but does the best of them all.

I think he's looking for a remote desktop like app, and not a remote. I myself would also like to know if anyone has any opinions on a good remote desktop app.
PhoneMyPC isn't cheap, but well worth the mullah. I mostly use it to control my mouse when streaming netflix, but features are robust.
Wyse PocketCloud - Free on the Market.
You'll also need to download a client for your PC. Uses your gmail l/p to remote into your box.

Anyone know of one that works with Ubuntu?
I also use phoneMyPC. It's a wonderful app. Well worth the money. Especially with a hardware keyboard. If you have 2 monitors, you can have the app bring up the monitor you wish to view. You can bring up a cursor on your screen which can be used to drag and drop files too.
I could not live without this app.

I use this as an RDP client to get into terminal services at work. Works really well.
I've tried most of them out there and have settled on PhoneMyPC. I find the interface the cleanest, especially if you are accessing a computer with more than one monitor (I use on one with 3).
Logme in ignition I can do it all as if I were literally using another computer to do the remote session.

+1 on Android VNC, and Gmote to just remotely control the mouse and keyboard, there both perfect....but thanks guys for PhoneMyPC and PocketCloud, will def check em out too!
Can these remote apps somehow be configured (i don't see how they could be) to wake up a sleeping computer? I am a firefighter so I am gone for twenty four hours and remote access would be really useful...

+1 for LogMeIn Ignition. Use it all the time.
I've used phone my pc and wyse pocket cloud. They both have their pluses but I would say pocket cloud edges out phone my pc for better functionality. Although if you don't have ultimate or enterprise versions of windows you're pretty much stuck using phone my pc...

Has anyone developed an app that records everything that's happening on my screen? I have seen videos on youtubes of people showing off their phones and it looks like someone is recording just what's happening on the screen, not the phone it self. I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks.

It's done with ShootMe (root required).
Not to bash the app but shootme just takes screenshots at max 10 per second to make it a video. It doesn't work for what I'm trying to show.
Is there any app that can capture the device at at least 20-30FPS?

This isn't exactly what you are after. but it might help you
You can install a VNC server on your phone from
the market and install some type of VNC viewer on your PC ,by doing that,
you can stream your phones screen to your PC and record it as a video
on your pc.

It is actually very straight forward to setup.
All you need to do is :
Download and install droid VNC server on your phone from the market (free or paid)
and download a vnc client on your pc , if you are using Linux you can install
"gtk vnc viewer" or any other one ,they are many available. or if you are using
windows, download TightVNC from download.com (cnet) and install it on your pc
on your phone, open up the app and and press start server it will give you some sort of ip address ,
from your pc open the viewer (TightVNC is both viewer and server) type the address and hit connect.
and thats all there is to it . Obviously both your pc and your phone should be connected to a wireless network.

An app to record what's happening on my screen
For me that VNC app was terribly slow. Wouldnt be useful for recording your screen.
It also depend on the client you are using on your pc
And your network speed too.
But yeah the video is not going to be as smooth as recording your desktop. Its basically like using remote desktop.
You can also do it the otherway around so you can control your pc from your phone.

Works perfectly for me, note you must have the android SDK installed, and point the program to it on first run.
Use ShootMe and at the top were it shows 'A heartbeat monitor thing' click that and click screencast. This will allow you to make videos of whats going on on your screen.. +Rep if I helped.

I can confirm this works well, and with the Jump Desktop app you get full touch control.

Is there a way to use VMLite or any app like that over Bluetooth? I'd like to be able to tell my phone to turn on tethering while it is still in my bag. I'd rather not get caught doing it during class, since it's like 10 detentions -.-

SwiftLegend and micks_address,
Since both of you ask about bluetooth, do you mean that you want the same remote view and control of the device as wifi connection? We will definitely look at this, and update the status here.

one option to try about bluetooth connection is to check whether your devices support bluetooth tethering, if so, you can set network connection between two devices similar to WIFI.
---------- Post added at 01:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:00 PM ----------
ok, i just tested it, there is no need to use bluetooth to access between android devices, w/o 3g, w/o WIFI. Basically what you need to do is to turn on a WIFI hotspot on one device, then start vmlite vnc server on this device, it will display an ip address.
On your another device, you need to change WIFI to connect to your other device's WIFI hotspot id, then you run a vnc viewer to connect. It works very well from our testing.
There is no 3rd party app needed, pretty much all android devices support wifi hotspot.
if you need more info, please post.

I am also thinking of adding a Record button to our vmlite vnc server, so you can record all of the mouse/keyboard events, and when you are in a hurry, you can simply push one button to accomplish recorded tasks, such as turn on wifi hotspot, etc.
not sure if this would help you during commute.
For SMS set up Google voice on your Nexus and ur nexus 7. ( works like a charm I can receive text and answer them from my nexus 7.
As for contyol I would like to hear more on this as I never have my phone to far away and on my commute home I have all my music on my phone and taking my phone out while i have my 7 out is to much.

Hmm, so the options on the remote for the Xbox are a bit lacking. Basically just power and navigation (see attached), with no option for numbers or changing channels in Windows Media Center. It also still uses the "TV remote" when using the TV guide. I use a cable card and media center but looks like the app doesn't support that setup. Still nice being able to turn the Xbox on.
Also if you have the Xbox glass app you can do things like open netflix, xfinity, or HBO go. They don't really use the glass app much, but you can do some scrubbing of video and the "controller" has a few more buttons like the Xbox home button. See attached screen shots for more details.
