Hi,
I created a little toolbox app for the Galaxy S. It requires root and has the following functions:
- Check & backup device product code files (req. root)
- Access hidden dialer code menu's
- Reboot and reboot into recovery (req. root)
- Mount /system as rw (and back to ro) (req. root)
- CSC Selection
- Scan SD card for corrupt image/movie files and remove these to prevent the mediaserver process from going crazy and draining your battery.
Hope you like it. Suggestions for additions and bug reports are welcome.
Cheers,
Xander
THE APPLICATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE ANDROID MARKET! If you like it consider the Donate version.

Those options will only turn red when the app failed to gain root access. Did you allow the app to gain root though the superuser permissions ?
It never did the first time, but then i opened it up again and it aksed for permission, now all are green !!
thanks

Well open your eyes -_-
just for playing, downloaded the update.zip posted for I9000XXJPC. then replaced the 2.1 apk with the new version 2.3.4 (using 7zip), went through the update process for the jpc, first it gave error but I rebooted, and it works perfectly after updating the su binary (through the app settings). so it also works for 2.2 jpc.
This is my personal version froyo XXJPK Rom for I9000, based from european Rom.

What do you mean by quickboot ? Like the desire HD or just faster than stock ?
When tw launcher is removed, is it even possible to connect through Kies? The TW launcher has to be running in order for Kies to able to detect the phone right? Or have things changed....
Quickboot is a apk. It can restart easly your phone in recovery or reboot or go in bootloader mode (not for us). It s not the fast boost you think like desire hd.
Hi,
Just installed the light ROM.
Confusing as the root has an update.zip in it as well which I didn't apply.
I love everything but the top bar. It's looks funny with the transparency at the sides and you can't see all of the clock unless you have a dark wallpaper.
can anyone put some screens of this lite rom....
Screens please.
Found a bug.
Phone on the launcher does not link to phone.

**With the system partition set up the way it is, flashing any ROM via CWM is ALLOWED.***Changes added to post! Please re-read!!*
Post #1: ROM details/Installation instructions

Meant for the T-Mobile HTC HD2 ONLY!
This ROM is based off of dungphp's Desire HD 1.84.832.2 v1.2 (all credit for original ROM goes to him!). It is tweaked for better performance/usability and comes with a few changes/fixes as per his latest release:
- integrated CWM Backup functionality (using my method)
- modified flash.cfg for a more efficient use of the system partition, and also for full CWM support
- modified initrd.gz to remove App2SD functionality (not needed )
- updated WeatherUpdater.apk for working weather updates (credit to CMYLXGO)
- removed a few .apk's:
Code:
- Google Maps
- Locations (Laputa .apk's)
- Friend Stream
- Stocks
- Facebook
- Twitter
- All corresponding widgets
Features:
- Fast (doesn't require OC )
- Made for simplicity; a few Sense features have been removed (Skins, live wallpapers, etc)
- Zipaligned + Deodex'd (comes standard, nowadays)
- Root permissions/SuperUser (also standard)
- Data/3G (RMNET)
- Wi-Fi (No 60mA drain)
- GPS
- Phone (if you get robot voice, disable Audible Touch Tones in Sounds)
- Camera (5MP) (credit to pyrorob)
- Camcorder (800x480) (credit to pyrorob)
- USB Mass Storage
What's working:
- Everything as far as I'm concerned.
Issues:
- When screen is off and USB is plugged in, the phone doesn't recognize the connection until the screen is turned on. Just a slight inconvenience, but I'm gonna look into it anyway because it shouldn't be happening.
- 3G crashes temporarily after Market first-run.. second-run is fine
Recommended Installation Instructions***NOTE THAT INSTALLING THIS ROM WILL CREATE A FIXED-SIZE SYSTEM PARTITION OF 350M***
Code:
**MAGLDRv1.13 REQUIRED! RADIO 2.15.50.14 RECOMMENDED!**
- Reset phone and bring it to the MAGLDR boot menu
- Select option 5 (USB Flasher), but DO NOT execute the command! Leave it there..
- Run DAF.exe
- Click Next, then Next
- Wait 10 seconds after DAF.exe searches for USB, then execute "USB Flasher" on your phone
- ROM will install, phone will reboot.
- DONE!! :)
Mandatory First-Boot Modifications
Code:
- Upon first boot, let screen shut off and leave it for roughly 5 minutes before unlocking screen and running phone setup
- Once at the Home screen, open Phone, type *#*#4636#*#*, then Call
- Tap Phone Information
- Change "preferred network type" to "GSM auto (PRL)"
- Radio signal will cut off; once it does, tap "turn off radio"
- Click Back until at Home screen
- POWER OFF (NOT RESTART) the phone, and let it power on via USB
**After the 2nd boot, enable WiFi and login to the Market; should have no problems **

As of right now, this build is only supported by the 1024LEO. I'm gonna work on a 512LEO version (smaller system.img, ext partition support) but seeing as how I don't own a 512LEO, I'm giving it some time before I put in that extra work ya know?

About this ROM
This ROM is all about battery, performance and stability. GioPro, SimpliGio, and Sgg dt have many tweaks which are not working due to syntax errors. While some others may work but are not optimized for our Gio. Don't get me wrong. They are great roms! But I hope I can correct what I feel they did wrong.

Please, no default ROM manager. There are users who brick their phones using ROM manager, apparently without doing stupid things. Please see here: http://s5660.pl/temat-martwy-gio
forum is in polish, but google translate will do a good job
And if I'm allowed, please let me tell what I would like to see on a "generic" custom rom:
- rooted;
- root explorer integrated;
- deodexed;
- phone should not be unlock by menu (power) button + left touch button (as with gio versions);
- safe tweaks to memory;
- a2sd installed but not activated (I don't like logs full of errors from a2sd);
- GUI: icons from GIOpro_v3, CRT animation, unlock buttons from simplygio (the round blue-red ones, with a sharp corner) - or a separate theme (maybe editable by userd) that can be applied;
- default: launcher (can be changed by user, no big deal), music player, no app that can be installed simply from market or internet.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and (the most important!) your work with us!
Screenshot Please.
I also would like to not to have unlock by menu option.
Screenshots coming!
Do you guys mind I replaced the default messaging mms.apk with Go SMS Pro? Since there happens to be a bug in mms.apk on every Gio that makes the keyboard appear relatively slower.
v1.4 will feature Touchwiz launcher again, removed CWM

Go SMS Pro is free on the market, and removing mms.apk is easy with root explorer, isn't? I don't think you should bother replacing the default one.
In place, I propose to do something like Slax:simple updates that can be applied over the ROM, to add (or change) functionality.
so, for example, there should be one update to replace the default messaging application with Go SMS Pro.
is-it reasonable? it should help you to release a clean bug-free ROM, and users will not flash the whole system over and over again. IMHO this will be great.

-then don't include root explorer (but prepare all the background for it to work properly)
-uot kitchen is online for the moment... who will know how it will be a week from now... but yes, it's a good idea to have a few themes as zip file to be updated on the phone.

Root Explorer suckes in my opinion...
Try looking for Advanced Tools (free)
It has a built in task manager which is able to see everything. Not just running programs, even the acore etc...
The file explorer is far superior to those I have seen. You also have like 4 tabs.
A build.prop editor is also in it.
If you guys want I will release a quick fix with just the Mms.apk and touchwiz30launcher.apk back in action. But I am actually working on ext2 conversion and support for /cache /data and /system for our phone... So far it works, I have Quadrant score of 1600

Advanced Tools is looking good, but I did not test-it enough (yet).
1600 on Quadrant is quite a good score, it just tell us that you are on the right way!
I understand that at this moment moving/extending some folders on the sdcard is the hardest part. What happens with the system when card is connected as storage on the PC? Only fat32 partition is unmounted? More...I'm almost sure that the speed of sdcard is inferior to the speed of internal storage, so moving everything on the card will slow-down the phone. Installing conventional linux on sdcard/usbstick is not recommended: usual read-write cycles of the OS wear the sdcard/usbstick very fast.
So, imho, only the storage folder of android OS should be moved.
I still vote for a minimum modified ROM, that will allow any other modification with only "updates" and simple file replace/edit on the OS.
and another thought: "free RAM is useless RAM",
in other words: internal memory of the phone should not be as empty as possibly... (it's like you have a fast car in the garage but you use a slow and hungry cart to drive)
GT-S5660M ?
Will this work on the Samsung GT-S5660M
This is apparently slightly different version that is sold in Canada by Bell and Virgin Mobile. This thread explains more about the differences
If I5660XXKQB works for your phone then this one will work as well.
My personal opinion is every model has its own firmware. For the best experience of your phone and the least bugs, you should use your own phone's firmware for your safety.
But I remember I5800 and I5801 being fully compatible with eachother. But this wasnt the case for I5000 and I5000L for example. Honestly I don't know it is you having that phone !

You can take & port in your ROM everything without asking permission (just notify & give credits) in case, you permit the same to me.
I've no sources. I do not know Java and make everything in Notepad++ with smali/backsmali/apktool. You can request working files (original & modded) if your need.

Are you on Marshmallow now ?
In this case you should update boot & modem and remove Xposed (checkboxes in Aroma)
I'm on BoBCatRoM Nougat 7.0. I updated the bootloader and modem also and checked remove Xposed. I even tried flashing just the Rom only but each time I get the same result and the phone won't boot.

Flash it after ROM & update.
It will reboot device.
Please select correct variant (edge/flat)
I'm updating file on Google. It will take time.
Some users report, that they could not upgrade to Nougat without flashing full stock with Odin.
In this case you need full backup of /data and copy of internal SD because stock firmware will encrypt content.

Installation log looks bad, so please
1. Check file size. Should be 1.83G. It really looks like incomplete or damaged download.
2. Try to install with "remove Xposed" check box unchecked.
3. Use TWRP-3.0.2-3/4/5
I've changed installation script, to avoid the issue, that I see in your log file, but It not happens to me.
Many people already installed it and report, that it works good.
I'll upload it to better share and add md5 file. in 3 hours.

The size of the file I downloaded is the same 1.83gb. I d/l again once your upload is finished. I did remove xposed every time I flashed it. I have twrp 3.0.2.3 installed. Thanks for your help. I'm not a rookie at this. I've been flashing Roms since 2010. Thanks again
