I just rooted my cdma desire and would like to know if anyone will be wokring on a rom for my phone
How did you do that? Unrevoked 3.2 Isn't out yet is it
Look at their twitter. They tell you how to get a test version.

thats for the heads up. rooted now also.. need a 2.2 now. lol
im wondering how similar the desire is to the incredible or the evo.. i wonder if it could run some of their roms?
the inc is very similar. and would prob work. if it has slcd support. i dunno though. risky. although one should be able to restore a backup
Now someone just has to get the courage up to do it.

Just to let you know
I've rooted my cdma desire and I've tried flashing a couple gsm roms. None of which would boot. If you try flashing any roms on your own make 100% sure you have a backup made because you will end up with a semi-brick and I'm sure nobody here wants to hear you whine about what's a recovery menu.
I've been thinking about making a ROM but I have zero experience. I'm doing a lot of reading but if there are any developers who want to work on a rom, that would be awesome.
i made one with some tweaks that works also i am working on porting a froyo version

they are almost identical but for some reason the wifi and bluethooth would not work on a inc rom that i ported even though they are the same chip
I recently got my desire CDMA rooted also, but i used to hangout over in the G1 forum so i kinda know my way around android & root. let me know if i can help with anything. my twitters @BuddhaTeh1337
You can find some CDMA roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10469759&postcount=2. Happy flashing !

Ok first off let me say, im a n00b still but i am constantly on here trying to read and learn more about our phone! i am currently fully rooted running damage control 3.1.2
My first question is Froyo 2.2, currently was is the best and most stable rom running it? that still keeps 4g? ive looked in development but im just curious on your all's opinion about it!
2nd: i see all these threads about updating radios? what is the need for that?
3rd: Would you recommend to just restore to factory with no root and install 2.2? and just wait for a root that way?
Oh boy, be prepared to get flamed for posting this in General. Anyways, I'm currently running Fresh 3.0 and it seems to be 100% functional. I can't test 4G cuz I don't have it where I live, but with pretty much all the resources for Froyo available now, most of the roms are now getting stable releases. Updating your radio can give you better reception and service but I've never seen any significant differences myself. I usually just flash the latest one just to be up to date. Don't install the stock OTA! There is already a stock rooted version out.

people always get mad about something on forums, im just trying to extend my knowledge of things...
Totally understandable, but there are a lot of people here who post nothing but negative crap and a question posted somewhere other than Q&A is like a tractor beam for them. Anyways, hope you find what you need. There are also a lot of people here that just want to help.

defiantly upgrade the radios....absolutely make sure you do plenty of research first on the correct way to flash them. Also in my opinion I wouldn't do the ota update...just flash the stock rooted 2.2 rom.good luck...and remember.....lots of research first before doing anything.

4G does work on Fresh 3.1.0. Tested it this morning at work. So far, that thing is VERY stable. Haven't noticed an issue yet.

sweet, ill download and try it out
After rooting does it matter what type of desire you have in order to flash the ROMs on this site. They don't say if they are for a specific type. My friend has the one from US Cellular which is CDMA.
After messing around with some of the roms on here (This is my first droid), i have only been able to flash the custom uscc rom. Im assuming we will need to find the CDMA roms Im not 100% positive as this is my first time doing ANYTHING android.
YES!!! You CANNOT flash any roms that are for GSM desires (ie telus/canada and european desires). Only ones in the USCC thread can be flashed, and none are really worth doing yet. A Froyo rom is being worked on as we speak. It has everything working except SD card support, wifi, and bluetooth
@ con247 Can you PM me or post the link to that thread I can seem to find it.
Do the themes matter if its CDMA or GSM
Sent from my Dinc
I would guess the themes are risky too. Take a nandroid backup before trying anything.
I wonder if Droid Incredible ROMs would be easier to adapt to the CDMA Desire. Do they have the same radio? Similar to how GSM Desire and Nexus ROMs are cousins.

There is methods to root the evo
Unrevoked is where you need to go for that.. All cameras work on CM Build just no 4G or HDMI.
I just got a new EVO with the new hboot 2.02 and I was able to easily root with with the directions from this thread... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045.
I chose to go with Myn's twopoint ROM and love it. Plus the 4g and hdmi work (unlike CM's current release).
The only things that don't work with CM are 4g and HDMI.
I was also a CM fan until I discovered Myn. There are lots of great ROMS for Evos, but CM and Myn's seem to have the most users (at least active ones) and Myn's tends to have the best satisfaction based on users.
CM is a developers playground while Myn is more user-friendly with its customization. Either way you can't go wrong with this phone

IMO. lot more community with the evo the epic has a lot of users that demand to much with out actually helping the devs (some with all devices but many more with epic) screen is better with epic but that is the only thing i like about it my wife has had problems with both of her rooted and not it just was not ready to be released

sprint needs to stop distributing different hardware evo's it's screwing up development on here. i have a 004 evo a month old from corporate.
where do i find overclocked kernals? or overclock? i looked in rom manager
So everything I've read about this phone indicates that it's more closely related to the G2/Desire Z than anything else, sharing a lot of common components. So my question is do you guys think that rooting methods/ROMs for the G2/Desire Z would work for this phone? I think it would be awesome to be able to root it the first day I get it and flash CM6 so I don't lose much in the transition from my Hero. I use tethering EVERY day, and I don't think I'd be able to get around Sprint's tethering thing if I leave it on a stock ROM.
From someone terribly uneducated when it comes to all things root, I'd probably say that's ridiculously unlikely to be the case.
The shift is one ugly phone. I'd stick with the G2.

The shift looks like a evo and epic 4g had sex n spit out that bull****.

While I agree that the Evo Shift internally is very similar to the G2/DZ, the fact that it has a CDMA radio means it has a different radio image which means it can't be rooted/s-off with the current methods. If we're lucky, all that needs to be done is the current methods modified to work. But the ROMs would not be interchangeable. If there isn't by now, there will be a seperate forum for it. Much like there's the Hero and CDMA Hero forums.

Anybody have any clue if there any ROMS in development for Virgin Mobile USA users for the Wildfire S? Would love to see CM7 or maybe even Wildfire S -JikantaruROM XE™|Sense2.1|DATA2SD|HighQuality & Performance 10-30-11 for this model. I am one of the few who have successfully turned the S-OFF!!!! Please help!!!
An unofficial CM7 port with an overclockable kernel is here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226765
It's the best you can get right now IMO.
I also have Virgin Mobile (Bell), but in Canada.
Tried that but I keep getting this error when I flash it.
Ugh don't understand why I am gettting this problem!!!!
Still having this problem I just don't get it!!!!! I really need this ROM as for some reason I can't keep my internal memery any higher than 15mb.
I just may shoot myself.......LOL.....I mean my $200 dollar Wildfire S is doing worse than my supercheap Sanyo Zio.
i had the same problem
i fixed it by updating clockmound recovery
after installing it, it stayed in the bootloader screen(after nandroid backup sd slot wouldn't work)
there is only 1 cdma rom atm that i know of working
Yeah I couldn't get cm7 to work for me, to my knowledge there is a stock ROM for us VM USA uses being tossed around here at XDA and there is a guy Over at Android central trying to get cm7 going, but he's mostly on his own as far as development.
That's about it.
Sent from my HTC_A510c using XDA App
Agreed
I would also love to see a ROM developed to work with the VM USA version of this phone. If anyone is taking suggestions, please make it Senseless, as it takes up SOOO much space, and I would actually like to put some games and Netflix on this phone.
