[Q] Notifications Even Thought Notify is Off - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Ever since I got the incredible in June, I have been wrestling with it lighting up and chiming in the middle of the night, even though the reminder was set to none.
I use Timeriffic to simply turn off the speaker at night, but that isn't always the best option.
Has anyone managed to figure out why the Incredible will light/chime as a reminder of an event, even when the reminder is set to none?

Auto Volume Restore for WM6 ?

I am not a programer but I have though of a useful tool if anyone talented could make it work. It would be nice to have a program that would restore WM6 Volumes back to original settings from Mute or Vibrate follwing a present time period.
I typically put my phone on silent / vibrate for meetings and then forget to turn the ringer back on. It would be way cool if I could put phone on mute for a set duration of time (e.g. meeting last one hour so in one hour and 5 minutes my phone would automatically restore the ringer to on status from vibrate / silent.
Anyone know of something like this already? I have searched and cannot find anything.
That's a good idea, I experienced this problem as well.
HTC Home has an automatic setting that will do that for busy times in your schedule and set it back when you're free.
When you have the meeting set on your calendar, selecting the "Automatic" mode automatically sets the phone to silent when you're "busy" and sets it back when you're "free"
Thanks for the input as I am an HTC user and just discovered this a few minutes ago. The issue with HTC Automatic is that some of my meetings I do want my phone to ring so a full up utilization of the HTC Auto ring setting is note the best solution at this time.
If HTC development could add another ring feature for customer ringer off this would be the BOMB! I am an HTC fan.

I haven't actually tried it, but I think if you set your meeting to "free" I think the phone will still ring.

silencing issues?

Hi everyone,
I've searched the web and cannot find an answer to this, so looking for help...
My X10 had a sound option, vibrate option and silence option. This worked for me because I set all my email to vibrate when the phone was on vibrate only, and at night I'd easily switch it silent so there would be no noise, period.
The Ion vibrate options are "always, only when silent, and never". I don't want the email to vibrate always, and if I silence the phone, it vibrates which causes the phone to go off at night when I get emails internationally. I don't want to set it to "never" because there are times when I'm in a meeting I just want to be alerted to an email without a notification sound.
Am I missing something here? Sorry about the basic question, but I cannot for the life of me figure this out!

Ah, found out it's a thing from 2.2 on. I downloaded some apps that work around the issue. Thanks!

New Features Requested

Hey guys.
I just contacted Motorola to request some new features be added to the stock ROM (which in my opinion) would be crucial to increasing the functionality and battery levels of the watch.
Don't know if any Motorola Dev's/Engineers are following this site but just in case, I'd love to have these features asap.
Please add more if there is anything I have missed.
1. Have the ability to turn Vibrate OFF while still receiving notifications on the watch
Why ? Because I have my phone in my pocket constantly, and my phone vibrates when a new notification comes up. I dont need my pocket and my wrist vibrating together.
Also, Increase battery life.
2. Need to have the ability to turn off notifications for certain apps. For Example, I want the watch to vibrate when an SMS or Email comes through, but turned off for Messenger, kik, and everything else.
Also, by having this feature, Im sure a developer could write up a small app to install onto the phone which would tell the watch which notifications to vibrate for, and which to just display on the screen.
And again, this will save battery life by turning the vibrate motor off for (in my case) 90% of the notifications coming through.
3. Have a slider to control the level of vibration or the burst of vibration.
Why ? This adds a level of customization to the watch.
Also, I see people complaining that the watch doesn't vibrate enough while in my case, its vibration time is too long. By having the ability to shortening the vibrate time, you also save battery life (if not by much).
By having all 3 features embedded into the ROM, On the average user, it should increase battery life by almost double (if not more).

Pretty neat ideas. I have one id like to add lol. I want to be able to turn off motion detection for the screen. I had this feature on my galaxy gear and it gave me an day and half EXTRA battery with it turned off. We could get similar battery life (3-4 days with average use, custom rom too) if this was disabled. I had to always press the button to turn the screen on to check the time, but notifications still lit the screen up when they came in. Totally worth an extra 24-36 hours of battery . However i like the idea of being able to tap the screen to wake the moto360.
So basically I want motion detection disabled but leave tap to wake on.
Can't you turn off notifications for certain apps in the Android Wear app (mute apps)?

Im not talking about turning off notifications all together.
I was talking about turning off the vibration for certain apps, but still having the notifications pushed to the Moto360 display.

I like this idea because sometimes it's hard getting the watch to light up with motion, so turning off that feature for when it does work would be fine.
In my case, I have the phone vibration turned off and rely on the watch to deliver notifications.
My one and only important feature request is the ability to create my own canned response list.
Of course, official support for 3rd party keyboards would be nice as well.
Bluetooth LE Peripheral Mode
I'm not sure if they intend to include Bluetooth LE Peripheral Mode in their Lollipop release. Google chose not to include peripheral mode for the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7, although it is included with the newer Nexus 6 and 9. But for Android Wear, Peripheral Mode would enable a huge number of new and useful apps, that would significantly improve the usefulness of the watch. The simplest one would be a beacon to help you find your watch when you forgot where you left it, but enabling service solicitation would open a whole new world of applications for the watch.
#1 has worked since day one.
I get a notification, my phone remains silent, the watch vibrates. It's in the AW app settings.
according to me, since the watch has a inbuilt mic, a feature can be added that when someone calls, answer from the watch, just speak that you'll call back later & disconnect. this will be helpful if you are driving... no need to pick the phone ...

Instead of swiping to answer the call, You can just swipe upwards to reject call with similar messages sent automatically

Good list, I have one more. Allow the setting of alarms for only certain days. For example, I would like to be able to set an alarm at 7 PM that goes off only on weekdays and not weekends, as I use this to let me know when I can get into the car pool lane when I am driving back home from work. That alarm is useless on the weekend, so no need for it to be turned on every day.

I am still wondering which watch support Bluetooth peripheral?
As I know LG G watch 5.0.1 do not support it.
if (mBluetoothAdapter.isMultipleAdvertisementSupported()) {
will return false.
on mine the whole notification thing is messed up..
sometimes it will vibrate and pop up when i get a text or email.. but then sometimes it doesnt do anything at all.
hardly ever, does it vibrate when i get a fb IM.. but it pops up and the screen lights up.
maybe they should fix it first before adding anything.

Pretty sure vibration is app dependent. Example, 8sms. You can change the vibration length in the settings. If you set your phone to 1000ms vibration when you get a text your phone AND watch will vibrate for 1000ms(or whatever vibration pattern you set) To further my point I would NEVER feel the vibration of Snapchat updates because it was so short. I'm using xposed(gravity box) to change snapchats vibration length and I feel the notification on my watch and phone every time.
I agree 100% google should have a universal setting to be able to change vibration, notification, and screen light up settings.

stupid silent mode!

MOD EDIT I edited the title. Some of the words were not needed to convey your meaning @gregbradley
This has been up around before, i have searched and not found an answer.
Someone had the bright idea that "Do Not Disturb" puts the Alarm out of business. A Genius idea, since 95% of the world use "Do not disturb" when they sleep.
I am a very light sleeper. I am currently faced with the most annoying problem ever, and due to waking up 15times a night, i am getting beyond adjudicated due to lack of a good nights sleep. You guessed it, i wake up from the vibration!
The LG G3. Turn it all the way, and you get Virbate, Alarm still works.
Do not disturb, no vibrate, ahh nice, but now no Alarm.
I came from a G2, where i could pick Vibrate of full silent with only Alarm working. THIS IS THE F'ing feature thats missing, and i am fully aware that this is a know issue for most G3 users.
Who the heck came up with this stupid idea, and how can get to a point where my phone is dead silent but the ONLY sound that MUST work is from the Alarm?!
Is there a work around, is there an app i can use, anything, please help me get some SLEEP!
I agree that the only days I missed school is because of this Do not disturb feature I use when I'm busy and.... I miss my alarm!
But missing work is just not an option for me.
This is a situation of doomed if you and doomed if dont, and i dont want to be put in that position by my freaking phone!

If i could, i would. But you cant. when the phone is on vinrate only.
I found a way to work around this now, but its beyond stupid.
Honestly, its like a woman did this. No logic and damn complicated.

Settings --> Sound --> Notifications --> Do Not Disturb --> Schedule -- Set the times and days you do not want to be interrupted, set the end time to be a few minutes before your alarm is due to go off, remember you need to start it from the night before, so if you work Monday to Friday you need to choose Sunday to Thursday, assuming that you go to sleep before midnight that is.
You can now leave your phone on normal volume, do not need to to mute or set to vibrate only.
Use priority mode, I had the same issue as you until I figured out how to use priority mode and keep it completely silent.
sound - notifications - do not disturb - make sure calendar events are ticked...
after wards go to home screen, set to DND and press volume down once you will get "
Do not disturn
1. on Priority Off
Select priority and presto! eveything else but calendar events (alarms) will be silent.

No Reminder notifications on the Watch?

Hi there,
got my Watch yesterday and one of the main things i wanted to do with it, was to dictate reminders by voice and then get reminded, obviously.
well, dicating the reminder and saving it works just fine.
the problematic part is getting the reminder. if i tell my watch to set a reminder to do something in 10 minutes, it saves the reminder, and that is the last thing i see of it.
the time passes, no notification about the reminder.
if i go into the reminder app on the watch, the reminder is still there under current reminders, but thats quite useless as i have to go into the app to see my reminder.
is there any way to notify me on a reminder?
OK, i found out that i forbade Google Now to send me notifications, that was it.
But now i have another Problem.
If i set a reminder for something half an hour from now, it notifies me on it immediately and not when it is supposed to notify my. Is there some setting to rectify this? as i cant seem to find anything, sadly.
I too noticed this issue and I am surprised no one is responding. If I set a reminder on the watch, the watch or the phone should make some kind of noise but it do not.
