Changing Home screen grid? - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

Hi all
Is it possible to change the home screen grid of the Galaxy S to more than 4x4 items? with changing the DPI setting, everything is smaller but the grid stays the same! All widgets look very stupid! Small OK, but really far away from one another! Can this be changed somewhere?

change the launcher...
with the launcherpro (or ADWlauncher?) you can choose a 5x5 grid, for example

Or try out "Mulitcon Widget" free in the market...

Nova Launcher Hide App Drawer Labels?

I found that Nova launcher for me is much quicker than Apex launcher. I would like to use Nova but it seems that you can not hide app drawer labels, or is it just me?
Go to Nova settings -> Desktop -> uncheck "Label Icons"
me too NOVA Launcher is faster .
I recently found the light too!
Nova launcher is the way forward! Not going back to sense anytime soon

No, that hides labels on Desktop, not on Drawer, that was his question (and mine BTW)...
If you increase the number of rows enough, the labels disappear.
modify one by one the app label with an empty string
Yeah, can't believe it's missing a simple thing that all other launchers have. You need to edit each app one by one!
remove icon label nova

you can try column 8 row 5 in nova setting-drawer
it works for me, the label is gone now
Increasing number of rows will remove the app label in the drawer

If you enable small tabs, than you also need to increase the icon size to 130%. Only then the labels will not be shown.
But thanks for the tip!
Nova settings < App and widget drawers < icon layout and then untick labels

Sorry but this is useless mod because you can already use max 16x16 grid size on nova launcher, first you need to enable big grid size option:
- open nova settings
- press vol- 2secs, now there is new menu named "labs"
- open labs menu and tick "big grid size options"
- now you can set your grid size up to 16x16
holy.....

Icons an nova

Hello!
I'm using nova launcher and...it would really be grate, if i could define the transparency of all the icons on all my homescreens.
I know how to disable the icon names, but i would like to have, nearly, transparent icons...
Is that able on my s3 with nova?

I can only think of a couple options for this. Either find a compatible icon theme with transparency in playstore (nova, apex, adw icon packs should all work), or make your own icons and and edit your shortcuts one by one.
Of course you could always request this as a feature to be added by the dev. Here is the nova thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1389071
edit: Here are round transparent icons - the closest I can find to what you are looking for

non-uniformity in default icons

Some launchers e.g. Smart Launcher have a option to normalize icons. OP launcher is missing this option as far as I know.
How about some unified Icon Pack e.g. Whicons?
Icon Pack alone should fix the size problem.

No more transparent menu for Zenfone 5z?

Hello,
Did Asus remove the ability to make the App Menu background transparent in order to see the Home Screen wallpaper?
Zenfone 2 and Zenfone 3 Deluxe had this, but I can't find any setting for Zenfone 5z to set the App Menu transparency in order to see the wallpaper even if I'm not on the Home Screen.
Any way to bring it back if it was removed? I'm on Android Pie, Zen UI 5.5, latest firmware.
Kind regards.

Hello,
Thank you for the fast reply to the thread.
My app tray isn't transparent and I can't find a way to make it transparent. In the older Zen UI, you could go to Preferences and there was an option there to make it transparent.
However, I can't find such an option on Zen UI 5.5 on Zenfone 5z. Did the location of the transparency setting change maybe?

Try the following steps:
Long press on home screen > Wallpaper > Wallpaper option icon > Effects > Blur > Slide down the scale to 0%
Note : You will have to select the wallpaper first and then apply the above mentioned settings before actually applying the wallpaper.
Also refer the screenshots.

Tried the steps, but it seems to only change it on the Home Screen or Lock Screen.
I had them set to None before and if I set them to Blur and then change it to 0%, after clicking on Apply it gets changed back to None.

Try clearing the data of Zen Launcher, it might help.
