Failed to retrieve account information error. - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Recently my unlocked unbranded desire has refused to upload pictures to picasa, or videos to youtube. All I get is the message "Failed to retrieve account information".
Running 2.2 from ota update. Not rooted. Tried a factory reset at the weekend and the problem persists. It worked fine on 2.1.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I have this same problem on a brand new HTC Vision G2 on T-Mobile. Tried clearing cache and data for YouTube application -- no dice. Seems to be a widespread problem.

Same issue on galaxy s vibrant. Did quite a few searches. Lots of questions, but no solutions yet.

Just tried the @youtube.com account in the youtube app, and it logged me in. I was then able to upload video to my actual account problem. Weird.

Logging in into You Tube app with @youtube.com instead of @gmail.com fixed the issue. Thank you stikk.

I had to choose to use gallery to select the file i wanted to upload. If i selected es file explorer, it would crash the uploader ... Strange.
Anyway, Its working now. Thanks!

Problem with Twitter App

Hello,
I'm having a problem with my Twitter app. Every time I go into it, it's attempting to log in, and I'm unable to cancel the login attempt or do anything else other than leave the app via home button.
I can force it to close, or at least, my phone tells me so, but I when I restart it, it still attempts to log in.
Even after shutdowns and restarts this issue persists.
I have recently rooted my G2, however, this problem was occurring before the root anyways.
Does anyone know a possible way to fix this?
PS. I'm new to the whole smartphone thing and rooting scene (1st phone and 1st root) so, any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
EDIT: I've chosen to just delete the app via Titanium Backup. Reinstalled 1.0.5. Problem gone. So much for restoring stock 1.0.4.
Tweetdeck is way better any way to be honest

I had the same issue. Go into settings, accounts and sync, click on the twitter account, then remove the account. Go into applications menu under settings and click on twitter then force stop. You should be able to log in again after that. Haven't had any problems since.

Facebook app not loading messages/inbox properly

The facebook app does not load new messages on my phone... it still notifies me of new messages, notifications, news feed, and all others properly. But items in my inbox don't list updated items and when I open a thread it doesn't show the new message... it seems stuck... I tried to clear cache, and uninstall it the re-install it to no avail. Logged in and logged out, still the same...
Anyone encountered this or know a fix for it?? I'm using the updated app which is updated from the stock app... if uninstall the updated, it reverts to stock... And that's fine....
Help meeeee... Thanks

Does it come with with metatag information? Like in a black foreground error that disappears? I got that over and over again while being attached to wifi in the hospital. It even cleared out my messages on facebook from the error.
nope, didn't have any errors.... my messages when seen on the computer are fine. But, do not appear properly on the Facebook app.... new responses don't get updated and shown. I tried the manual update on the menu to no avail. So currently, I'm just using the mobile site instead, where I'm quite comfortable to use anyways. But would like if the app runs ok again.

Contacts FC-ing

My Contacts application is suddenly force closing every time I want to activate it. I think it is fc-ing after the new WhatsApp update. When I checked my contacts within Whatsapp, it suddenly fc-ed. And from now on it is fc-ing all the time.
Allready removed the app, data, (dalvik) cache. I even installed a new rom (which I wanted to do anyway ). But then again, after restoring everything with TBP: Force Close.
What do you guys suggest I can do? It is now becoming quite annoying.
Run fix permissions. That fixes a lot of FC

Already done that. Didn't help either.

Didn't you install app with contacts sync lately?
what about clearing data on contacts and people and then resync to grab them back?
Last thing I remember is that I've installed the new update from Whatsapp and that is when it crashed. I already did uninstall WhatsApp, but still a FC. Already wiped all my data from contacts. Seems like everything I tried, failed.
Also delete all data from Contacts.apk.
Okay finally I found the problem. Google+ and the contacts of the app seems to cause the force colsing. Uninstalled Google+ (since I'm not really using it) and everything works fine!

[Q] Gmail android app not syncing back to gmail.com

Last few days (must be since the last update was rolled out on Nov 15) my gmail app doesn't sync back to gmail.com. I get updates from gmail.com (new emails, etc.) but nothing I do on my phone gets sent back to gmail.com. I also can't send any email from my gmail app either; they sit in the Outbox forever.
One of the improvements in the app is "Improved sync and outbox behavior"
Anyone else having this issue?
had this twice after restoring the app with titan i think. after deleting the gmail data it worked again.

You rock! That totally fixed it. I went into the Settings | Apps | Gmail and hit clear data. Gmail started loading up all the messages again and now sycning works properly.

My Phone is Galaxy S4:
On mobile network only my Gmail app was not syncing automatically, gmaps was slow, youtube was not working or really slow and Calendar wasn't syncing either.
After looking on the internet I was not able to find the solution. I have tried everything that was simple like clear cache, reboot, sync OFF/ON ...
Solution:
I tried the APN reset solution: Setting/more network/mobile network/Access point name/ reset to default. I did it and also I have found that google services had the check mark ON for restrict background data. Setting/data usage/google services
I have never touched this option before so I don't know why it was checked. After these two steps my phone works perfectly now.
I hope this could help someone..
Thank you

[Q] Email App shows as ACTIVITY_ENTRY_NAME now do I fix?

Recently the Email application seems to have renamed itself on the App screens to be called ACTIVITY_ENTRY_NAME instead of Email. Everything works but I'm so fussy that this annoys me and I'd like it to say Email like it used to.
Does anyone have the stock email APK so that I can try reinstalling this to see if that fixes the issue. Or can anyone recommend any ways to correct this.
Have done a reset of the device and have also upgraded to 10.5.1 and rerooted again and nothing has fixed it.
The application name changed about the same time as all the issues with Google Play Services stopped working messages occurring.
