{News} I9000XXJPD in Samsung Firmwares. - Galaxy S I9000 Android Development

I dont know if this JPD is the Same as JPC, this the link:
http://www.multiupload.com/UNYY3TTQPQ

Hope this is better than JPC.

I'm not flashing again untill i know its a stable release...
JPC sucked bigtime... memory issues which made me reboot the phone every day, or it made launcher pro reboot everytime...

Changelog please, or prior differences to JPC..

weird..JPC hasn't given me any problem... did you wipe ??
looking for reviews about JPD

just flashed to JPC 4 hours ago.. now come out another 2.2!!!

Jep i did! i had issues with browsing... when i visited several flash pages the whole memory filled up... and i couldn't free up ram with any task manager...
I think JPD is stable because they used it on I9000's on the IFA

Had troubles with JPC too... will give it a try...

So.. No one tried this yet?

Again another bs "release" by Samfirmware.com.
They seem to have no clue what they are doing.
This is the very same I9000XXJPC release, which was already released last month.
Also I recon this version is not bootable after Odin flash since it is a "high" release.

Someone go try it lol

Radio with Ricky's Rom SuX

Has anyone else noticed this?
My internet speed goes from 1/5 to 1/3 of what it used to be, and the latency is also worse (I tested)...
And my signal is awful/nonexistent in places where it was fine with the Rogers WM6 ROM...
Is there anything I can do? Or should I just wait for the TMo WM6.1 ROM? When's that coming?
I'm with Rogers as well man and the latest ROM is amazing! Full signal - no problem.
Can you give me a link to the lastest and greatest Rogers ROM? Or similiar/better? And about my Q's in the first post...
But Roggers ROM is on WM6.0...
I am With Last Kavana's rom with WM6.1 - best ROM ever for me.
Many programs, many features, super fast.
But the radio is the same as Ricky's, isn't it? Isn't it bad...
WHY DOESN'T ANYONE actually answer my questions...
You all just post random 1 liners...

you guys don't have to be such @$$holes about it... geez
listen guy, all you need to do is wrap your mobile in heavy duty aluminum foil (note: it must be heavy duty or it will not work) and place in your icebox for 60-72 hours...
after that you will be good to go!
When I first got my S621 from Rogers last May with WM5 on it the phone was great, hardly ever had to reboot it for anything. I have had nothing but problems after I upgrade to Rogers 6.0 ROM. With full signal I would not be able to make calls and would first to try reset the phone service through comm manager, which would rarely work, but usually have to reboot the phone, at times often. Due to this problem I even had the phone replaced which did nothing. So far since I installed Ricky's V7 ROM I've had better battery life and have yet to reboot my phone due to not being able to make a call.
In short, I don't see an issue with the Radio or the ROM.
my speed on t-mo seems like its slowed down since i went with rickys from rogers also, my signal itself seems ok and i dont drop calls-maybe miss a word once in awhile but anyways...
does anyone mind telling me if the radio can be improved in any way?(yes im a noob and i really dont know the first thing to look for, but im just asking a simple yes or no question) sorry i dont have luck SEARCHING
I've determined that consistency doesn't exist.
he has everyone right to be an @sshole. how about before you go and say that rickys rom or radio sucks, you ask around first. maybe you are just a moron and its user error? the dude busts his ass to make us cool **** for our phones and you start a thread like this? i wouldnt, nor will i, help you at all. learn some people skills. all i can picture is a 7 year old whining "whaaaaaaaaaa ricky's rom sucks! whhhhhhh"
GO MAKE YOUR OWN THEN.
I'm all Set

OK look you can look for Mikey1022 posts, look at his sig--see the mediafire link at the bottom--click on that --click on ROMS-you can see all the radios that have been posted recently. Download a couple of them and see what happens, if the old radio works for you then your good and dandy--or as they say in New England, NOW YOUR ALL SET ASS. Hows that for one liners?

Ok, I'll make my own.
Whereabouts on the ROM is the radio stored? It's not just the radio.dll, right?

Samsung Galaxy S is...

....Lagging a lot....
Hello guys,
I've been lurking around the forum learning things on my own. I bought a Galaxy S 8GB 4 days back on a contract from O2.
the phone is awesome, and all.. but after installing few games and apps, I have come to see that the phone lags a lot. It became unresponsive and I had to soft reset the phone many times to get it working properly.
I then hard reset the phone on day 3 (yesterday) and now the phone's running a bit better. I installed a few apps and Fancy Widget, and the phone became very slow again. I uninstalled Fancy Widget and the phone became a bit fast, but still lags at times.
I feel like throwing the phone at wall.
Why is this lag happening and what do I do to minimise/eliminate this lag?
cheers!

JG5 + root + AutoKiller(Strict setting+) gave me great results.
Memory card fix isnt much faster. Im not sure about the quadrant benchmark, I had 1600~ but the phone felt the same.
personally im waiting for samsung to release an official firmware. i can't backup my original firmware and the rom is released nowhere, so my only choice is to wait until i can flash an official firmware to keep my warranty.
im not sure how these unofficial firmwares are created/named/released but the naming structure would suggest leaked beta firmwares from samsung themselves. the phones not that bad for me at the moment hopefully froyo fixes the little issues going around.
correct me if im wrong.

Im one of the users with the I9000XXJF3 firmware and currently i can't find a backup for this. i see JF1 JF2 and JF7 on that site.
i know im not alone with this and a few people have asked if its possible to create a backup of their firmware but as far as i know none of the threads have been fully answered.

If I read the version correctly, according to the description found here.
You are using:
I9000XXJF3
XX - Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom
J - 2010
F - June
3 - Version 3
So, the I9000XXJF7 should be the latest official firmware version for your phone.
I forgot...
Why not try the suggestion here:
[TUT] How To Create DUMP out of Stock Rom
EDIT: Did not read the content of the thread, after read it, maybe is not what you are looking for.
Hmm, im just a little cautious, call me paranoid but surely official firmwares would be released via OTA/samsung website/Kias(whatever its called).
and yes i posted in that thread hoping it was what i was looking for but no lol.
i do agree with you that I9000XXJF7 is "my" latest firmware, but i dont think its officially from samsung.
id be happy if someone can prove me wrong so i can finally flash to JG5
the samsung-firmwares.com site is not an official one, but everyone gets their FW's from there. just flash a custom rom and you should be fine.

mine is the same too
so I have to root the phone to make it faster.
this doesnt answer why the phone is slow in the first place? I have read about NAND and stuff which I dont understand. what do they mean? Can someone explain in plain english?
thanks
It's slow because for some reason, the Galaxy doesn't auto kill apps once the memory reaches low levels. So you can do two things. Install the autokiller app which should keep enough memory free for smooth operation, or you can install advanced task killer app, and kill all the apps yourself once the phone feels sluggish.
hi,
are you have a task killer like app installed ?
all apps running in background when you start them onetime..with task killer you can close all. i have 170mb ram..
after few hours of playing with my sgs its slowing down, then i look in task killer just 40mb ram.
when i kill all apps i have again 170mb and anything is fine ;-))
test it..
or check fastreboot its faster then a softreset with the power button
sorry for my bad english guys

I have tried the autokiller app but it stopped me from using it because it said it could harm my phone.
also what kind of idiotic developer wouldnt put a proper memory management module in it?
I would love to root the phone and muck with it if I could only be assured I wouldn't lose my warranty. Until someone tells me all is good, all I can do is nail apps as best I can.

Will a factory reset undo the root? If so rooting and autokiller is a no brainer.

lol bit harsh but true.If you really do want to be cautious just wait for the official firmware update from samsung-it will be fixed(has been fixed already in jg5).It looks like samsung wanted to get the phone to market as quick as possible so firmware suffered.Judging by sales it looks like they made a good choice from a business point of view
<insert thread title here> ... an object of ridicule..
ive tried autokiller and advanced task manager, autokiller made my phone even sluggish.
still have the phone in stock condition.

this happened to me like 5-6 times till now.
Mate: "oh you got a new mobile?"
Me: "yeah"

Mate: "oh you got the new iPhone?, thats cool!"
Me: :/
*facepalm*
I cant even show them my phone because people think it of as it looks like iPhone is a clone of iPhone.
and when I try to show them, my phone becomes hell lot of slow, and I get to hear things like "i got a crap phone" and "nokia 3310 is faster than yours" and stuff
Lag fix time maybe? Its super easy to do and makes massive difference.

Nah, I admit, it's nice showing off your phone's though. Not sure what kind of friends you have, but I've found the ability to actually do whatever I want with my phone has left most iPhone friends annoyed and somewhat jealous. Something simple as transfering regular files to your phone could be enough

ok samy leakers.. how about a euro august update

the end of august is fast approaching and no update for a few weeks now.. there are rumors of gps fix in the works. and better gps in the african latest august release.. how about a release newer than jm5 thanks.
I read somewhere that the Russian guy who was leaking the FW's got caught and although he didnt get sacked he has been told no more leaks.

hes lucky sammy good job for not sacking him
It's a shame . I don't understand. The samsung just had to win with this situation. Everyone knows that the best beta testers are the people of XDA.
Now what do I do with my life without one (or five) firmware a month to test: '(
Hope it's not true
Actually there is a newer version: The official JM1 which is not to be confused with the inofficial JM1
This Version is said to sport some updates over the most current inofficial 2.1 JM5 build.
There is a trick getting it which involves flashing the phone back to JF3 and then getting an update via Kies by accessing a test mode (done by: Ctrl+Alt+u+p)
There is a german thread visable here: http://www.android-hilfe.de/root-ha...ielle-update-jm1-jetzt-schon-zu-bekommen.html
I for one am sticking to JP3. It's not the smoothest but definatly the most good looking and I am hoping for a new 2.2 build in the near future. The browser is just sooo much better than eclair!
i am sure sammy didnt want any very "young" firmwares to leak to the public. i am sure that we will get a leak by the end of the month, but a pretty much almost ready for launch one. they prolly want to take care of good implementaion of froyo features ( JIT mailnly) before anything goes out, even if leaked.
I am having withdrawal effects from not flashing any firmwares... IT'S BEEN ALMOST 2 WEEKS SINCE MY LAST FLASH! lol I'd never gone so long without a flash since I got the phone. I do have to say that JM5 with the ext2 lag fix works very well and I don't plan on flashing unless I see people getting significant improvements, or a stable froyo firmware. I think Sammy should leak and let us point out the bugs haha, even if it's early builds...
yeah what's with the lack of leaks firmwares seriously with my touch HD I was flashing every other day Not having new firmware to flash is really "unusual" for me. I want firmwares
Someone claims to have upgraded to JM6 through kies. This would be great as it would be the newest official firmware I think.

Anyone else like me have a problem with not staying with one ROM?

I have been rooting now for almost 2 months and I have noticed that I am always trying to find and use the latest and greatest ROM. The problem is, I can't figure out the "greatest" part.
I will flash from ROM A and then the next day I will flash to ROM B then another day ROM C, both Sense and AOSP ROM's.
I don't know what it is but I just can't seem to stick with a ROM for more then a few days without feeling the twitch or urge to flash to something else.
So, anyone else ever have this issue? If so, how did you fix it?
I am loving all of these ROM's. It's like an all you can eat buffet with all these ROM's and I can't fill my plate.

Yeah it is stressful isn't it lol. I blame it on my ADD.
I used MIUI as my first ROM and loved it. Then started jumping around trying out others as I got more familiar with the rooting stuff.
I tried last weeks MIUI and I kept getting so many force closes (even after full wipes and 2 different fresh installs).

Yeah I didn't root my phone since I got it (June 4) and I didn't root until late August and I was happy with all my apps and stuff but then I root. Try fresh, calk, cm6, virus, and kept bouncing myn came out it with his rom and I was happy for like 2 weeks (thought I found the right one) then they got the HD working and miui and start flashing again like crazy, barnacles, sprints lovers, mik froyo, miui, and any other rom, and I haven't recover since then Mm my last resort would be unroot cause when I get a ron for over a week something brakes (besides myns, calk) and flash another one and some other rom comes out lol, well at least we got a great community I don't know what other phone has the same support ( besides nexus one)

New to Incredible...official Gingerbread?

Has there been any announcement of the official OTA gingerbread for the incredible? I'm coming from the fascinate, so I'm not used to any support, but I heard HTC is really good about updating their phones.
I understand there is a gingerbread rom out, but I think I'm done flashing ROM's on my phones. They seems to cause more problems than they're worth.
Thanks.
As of now, no GB for us. We just have to wait to see what the future has in store.

No announcement.
But in terms of flashing roms causing trouble?
Not sure how it really can. Directions are easy enough to follow, and nandroid backups are really the only thing that you need to keep in mind.
And cm7 has been pretty good so far, stable, good battery life, etc.
No trouble at all for me.

Almost all of the roms I have played with on my phone are very stable. I have been running Incredibly re-engineered for about 10 to 14 days with no resets or forced closes. Im constantly adding in apps or changing themes and what not. If you want GB pick a rom and go for it.
Well to be honest there is no polished GB ROM.
If you're the type to look for a one-time update, I'd wait a few more weeks.
As for ROM's causing problems.. I've been using SR 3.5 with chad's incredikernel for a couple of months with no problems at all. Battery life is so much better than stock and it runs faster too.
All up to you though, it does take some research to get through all the steps. As long as you take precautions like backing up (takes maybe 2 minutes), the risk is little to none.

Yup it is. From the changelog:
"Nightly Build 2/ 6 |1 .1 .1 | Extremely optimized, resulting in 60+MB being cut!"

They were kicked off this forum for some reason, not sure why.

Just to answer the question and not start another endless debate... the dev was axed initially for allegedly including warez in a ROM and/or allegedly not crediting the work of others that he used. The subsequent bans were for his creating new accounts to circumvent the original ban. The last time, he undid himself.

Well to be honest there is no polished GB ROM.
As for ROM's causing problems.. I've been using SR 3.5 with chad's incredikernel for a couple of months with no problems at all. Battery life is so much better than stock and it runs faster too.

I installed it seems pretty good. Got a few questions though I am a relative newbie when it comes to this stuff. There was a GAPPS.zip file with it how do I install that? There is no market and I think that the GAPPS fixes that. It has a meta-inf folder and a system folder inside the zip. Also there is a little Android dude that is looked on the home screen that has little comments is there some way to remove that? Thanks in advance.

Boot to recovery and select install zip from sd card.
Thanks I wasn't sure. Worked perfectly I have see posts talking about meta and having to install them with another program. I am liking this ROM a lot.
Cm7 has been good to me so far.

OMFGB fo lyfe.
OMFGB is the best ROM I've used. It's close to stock and really fast. I use the newest incredikernel, and it's amazing.
I really like the OMFGB and would like to try it with incredikernel. I have never flashed a kernel. I have a question if I back up my existing OMFGB and decide to go back to it will it have the existing kernel or the new one I flashed? I would guess that since the default kernel was part of the original install it would revert back to that I just want make sure. Also to flash the new kernel I go into recovery, wipe cache,dalvik-cache and then just install the kernel from the sd card zip.
