Hi, small problem with the modaco rom (froyo):
Normally, in the sound options under ringtone, I had two options:
1. Select standard ringtone. This opens a white popup with all standard sounds.
2. Select music. This opened a popup with all my music and sounds stored on my sd card. (It was a fairly large list)
But now I can't make a selection when I open the ringtone options, it just gives me a white popup with the standard sounds.
Can anyone help me with this?

Yes that's a possibility.
But isn't there a way to get the old way back?

Yes, ringtones it can set, but no alarms
I've flashed auraxtsense rom, and it has the same problem.
Ok so apparently it's with all roms I've tested.
Anyone not has this problem, and what rom are you on?

I like using Tone Picker 1.0 (in market). When choosing ringtone, it asks whether to use default app to select default tones, or TonePicker. Then you can navigate to any file and select it. Works for every "tone picking" available in android system.

Forgive me if this has been already answered as I was unable to locate an answer for this specific phone. Is there any way on our T-Mobile Galaxy S2s to have a different tone for each notification? I tried to change indivudually under each of the repective settings but no dice. 1 notification tone for all. Really? I hope there is a work around.
there's an App for that...
I use Rings Extended + RingDroid + Zedge, you can find them in the market free
then you can choose from a wide variety of alerts, music, mp3, or even make your own!
I got a similar question... How can I set my messages to vibrate only? I only get it to vibrate with a tone but I don't want that

set vibrate to always? (in settings > sound)
also you can do it independently for each App that you use, like SMS, Facebook, Twitter, Yahoo, Gmail etc
each of them has their own separate settings

You can choose file .mp3 or other when you set ringtone. At top right have Add(+) button. Touch inside to select other song. My english is bad.
Is there a way to load your own tones for the LG clock app? I put tones in both the notification folder and alarm folder, and none of them show up when I go to change the alarm tone. Is there any way to do this or do I need to find another app?
I use Alarm Extreme Pro (there is a free version too) and have since my skyrocket days. Can customize any tones you want.

Which audio format are you using?
I have several files I use for ringtone and alarm; I simply put them into external SD and they all show up.
They are .mp3 and .wav files.

They are mp3 and wma files, and none show up. Do you put them in a specific folder, or are you selecting "music" when you select alarm tone so you have to go through all music on your card?
I'm used to my old galaxy phone where I could put specific files into the notification folder and then those are right there when I go to select from tones.

I use the same. Custom tones and ability for fade in of tones is clutch.

Yep, my ringtones show up when I want to select a ringtone for the phone, but for alarm, nothing. I have tones in alarm, notification and ringtone, but nothing. I also tried searching for some of the default ringtones so if I could find if there was another location, but there was nothing. I guess I'll have to load them into my music folder and just select them from there.

FYI, my custom alarm tones are in a custom folder named
/external_SD/media/audio
and they are .WAV and .MP3, but I am using the same SD card since the last three mobile phones therefore I suppose that the file location should not be an issue.

What worked, thanks to previous post above mine (lit the candle in my head)
Internal folder/switch/storage/emulated/0/alarms
(also, previous phone was encrypted, that might explain the emulated/0 folders)
The key was finding the "Switch" folder since I had switched from Sony, to Samsung, to finally LG.
I used the folder "search feature" to see details (path) of one of my other ringtones I had on my old phone that are still available.
I copied the new ringtones into the same folder, and it appeared.
Sorry to post in old post, but it was in top 10 results in Google, and the post that helped the most.
After installing the Facebook app on my Nexus 5X I've noticed that the list of notifications sounds available is quite limited. In particular, the Facebook 'pop' sound does not appear in the list, so it's using the system default notification. The same app on my OnePlus One has the 'pop' sound in the list.
On all the Lollipop phones I've used, Facebook adds the 'pop' sound to a notifications folder in internal storage but it doesn't appear to have done that under Marshmallow. Is this a permissions issue?
Thanks for any insight...

You can make any sound you want as a notification. Using a file explorer place the sound file in the notification folder on your sd card. Then go to the sound and notification settings menu from the settings menu and select your sound. You can do the same for ring tones but place the file in the ring tone folder
Thanks, I know I can do that - I'm wondering why Facebook doesn't install its own custom notification sounds on Marshmallow but does on Lollipop and earlier.
My facebook app was set to the default tone, but it is listed in the notification picker.
It is located in "media/audio/notifications/"
Perhaps a reinstall will fix it?

Unfortunately I'd already tried that. However, I had a look at the app permissions for Facebook and noticed that it wasn't allowed to do anything - all sliders were off. I checked what the permissions should be on my OnePlus One and set them the same on the Nexus 5X. After a reboot it created the media/audio/notifications directory and the 'pop' was in the picker.
I thought it was a bit unusual that it didn't ask for any permissions when I installed (and re-installed) the FB app...

The app won't ask for permission on install on marshmallow if it is optimized for that version. It will print when that permission is used (or on app startup depending on the app)

OK, thanks for the explanation.
No idea why it's doing this, but every ringtone amd notification I set from the app Zedge is automatically reset to default when I restart my phone. It's only happening with the individuals I set it to. Any ideas?

I don't know if this will help you or not. If your rooted, change the file extension of the ringtone from .mp3 to .ogg then select what ringtone you want to use. Are you using a particular app to set ringtones other than zedge?

Why would they need to be rooted to change the file extension of a file that they downloaded?
As for the OP's problem, figure out where the ringtones are downloaded to, move them to a folder called Ringtones on the root of your accessible internal memory (if it's not there, create it) and move the ringtones to that folder. Then you can select them in your phone settings and/or the stock contacts app. Zedge is a great app for getting ringtones and wallpaper, but it's not so good when it comes to applying them. I don't think it has been updated for android oreo.
