[Q] change menu's standard black background - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Hi guys, any idea how to change the background wallpaper in the menu screen? It has always been a black background after pressing the menu button. Quite ugly looking. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Yes i would like to know as well how it can be done. I had once a HTC Touch Diamond 2 and the winmo had an optionto change thw wallpaper in both home screen and start/menu programs.

+1
Would've been cool to know how to do this...

i want to know the same

You mean when you press the apps icon and it takes you your installed apps? that background? or your dock background? Dock backgrounds easy so id guess the other may also be, backup your touchwiz30launcher.apk throw it on pc use winrar to check it out res/ drawable-hdpi folder. There should be a .png in there to change it i'll check tonight if time permits..

Did it worked?
I have Louncher Pro, do I need to change it to touchwiz louncher?
thanks

hey guys
adw launcher allows you to have a transparent background you will still see your homescreen pic, or u can change to any coklour you like and it also comes with themes you can download to spice up icons and layout and so on. thats the free one. there is also adw launcher ex which comes with animations and more

I want to know how to change the background of the menu's (and I don't mean the background of the app drawler as mentioned in the post above. i know how to make this one transparant)I mean al the different menu backgrounds. Now they are all black.

[REQ] Themeable Drawer

Not the button, the actually drawer where the apps are stored. I was wondering if someone could make a drawer where you could theme it without having to go into the actual .apk file to work on it.
First off god your ugly second I think that's one of the nest things the guy from adw launcher is gonna work on if I find where i read it or imagined it i'll let you know
YOU KNOW WHAT!!!!.....lol nice and thanks dude.
With ADW.Launcher you can change the background color and transparency. If you move it to system it's only one file you need to change for a metamorph or other.

[Q] 5 apps across in the app drawer?

Hello, all.
I have tried searching to no avail.
While experimenting with different roms, I know certain roms come with the app drawer reflecting 5 apps going across the phone instead of the stock 4. My question is: Is there some kind of flashable file that can make the app drawer show 5 apps going across it?
Thanks in advance.
I use adw launcher and it can hold 5

Yea, but I'm one of the few people that like Sense. I was hoping one of the devs had made a flashable file that I just wasn't able to find.
One thing thats different about android and WM is the fact that it isn't as easy to make a flashable file for ALL ROMs. What happens is in this case for example is the rosie.apk has been modified to show 5 x 5 icons. That rosie.apk also contains some the graphics that make up the rosie (some are in another apk as well). So what would have to happen is someone would have to create a rosie.apk for each style of rosie currently available or maybe someone would create the file just for you. They could most likely do it if they new what rosie you were using. In WM it was a simple modify a registry setting or add something to the registry.
OH and just as many people like Sense as people that don't. I like it.
I have awd launcher with kaosfroyo........can't figure out how to add apps to the bottom drawer......please help.......thanks

Is it possible to change the menu screen background ?

Hello all- I have been searching for an app that would allow me to change the wallpaper/background on the page with the menu icons on it.
It seems that the colour can be changed while using ADW but I do like LauncherPro, and would simply like to customise the background screen beyond the homescreen,
Does anyone know if this is possible ?
Thanks very much for any help, LL
I'm not sure, I'm still pretty new to Android. But there were one times when my I9000 crashes when I first upgrade to Froyo 2.2, my menu screen background did change to my homescreen wallpaper. It's probably juz becoz of the things going wrong in the system, but I do think that is possible. I juz dunno how

Changing background on apps/widgets screens

Let's say I have a theme I really love except that the background for apps/widgets icon screens is plain black and I want background to be the same as the wallpaper. Given that there is no setting for this, I assume I will need to learn how to open theme, replace plain background with wallpaper and reassemble theme. Yes?
What are the likely names of the home screen and app/widget backgrounds and where in res would they be? They're going to be a png file, yes?
I assume with this information and Photoshop I can follow instructions in how to theme thread to actually accomplish this task.
Is there any other way to accomplish this task?
A lot of apps don't actually have a plain background. It's written in the code to draw every pixel black. So it mostly really comes down to the app developer. If it's not written in the code, then it certainly would be possible to replace the background

I wasn't being clear. I meant the background on the screens with apps/widgets icons.
Given that wallpaper png is already in apk, I'm thinking changing xml settings for background of apps/widgets screens to wallpaper.png would work...if I knew what these settings were and in which xml file they would be. The other issue is there are several versions of the wallpaper png files in the apk, with different sizes and, I think, resolutions.
It sounds like your talking about the APP DRAWER? If so then you would need to check in the xxxxLauncher.apk (this depends on anything like what firmware/ROM your using. So it could be SecLauncher.apk, ApexLauncher.apk, NovaLauncher.apk, Etc....
So depending on the launcher you would need to see if it has an option already in it or extract the .apk and look for whatever file it uses for the background and replace it with whatever you want to.
For example: Apex Launcher has a setting in Apex Settings/Drawer Settings/Drawer Background Transparency/ popup with moveable bar that will allow it to see through to whichever wallpaper you have on your home screen.
Once you figure out how/where it is located inside the .apk then make sure the wallpaper you want to use is the same pixel size. Now open 7zip and find the launcher.apk and hit OPEN ARCHIVE. Next navigate to where the background.PNG or background.jog file is. Now drag the WALLPAPER you want onto the screen of 7zip. Hit okay when it ask if you want to add it. Now take that .apk and put it back on your phone, use a root explorer and move it to system and paste it there. Now long press on it and choose permissions and set it to rw-r-r. Next long press and hit move. Move to system/app and paste. It should ask to overwrite the .apk so hit yes. Reboot phone and it should be done.
These are just BASIC HOW TOs but should help guide you in the right direction .

Yes, it is the app drawer. I'll go over your reply and parse out the details. I'm running LiquidSmooth on one S3 and Vanilla Rootbox on other one. LS came with Nova, which I disabled and installed Android stock launcher. I don't know what Rootbox is, but it seems like stock. Same theme on both. Thanks for reply.

I checked with several of the launcher devs, and they said that while their app drawer has variably background transparency, they don't support separate wallpaper background. Is that not your experience?

Help getting rid of home screen pages

I removed all home screen pages on my S2 as you can see in the pic. The problem is, how do i get rid of the one white dot in the bottom of my home screen? It ruins my backgrounds and just irritates me.

Hi,
You can't get rid of that, as long Touch Wiz don't have an option do hide or change the white dots....
For that you'll need a launcher like Apex or Nova Launcher
And mate, you're posting in wrong section...

is there a different theme or launcher i could use, where everything is pretty much the same(the four bottom icons, etc.), but i can customize that dot outta there?
Apex launcher should be able to do it
New launcher.
Actually you can get rid of the page indicator, just edit the PNG file with GIMP. I just opened the files in GIMP and deleted the image and saved the transparent image.
There are four indicators in SecLauncher2.apk/res/drawable-xhdpi/
pageindicator.9.png
pageindicator_fastscroll_bar.9.png
pageindicator_fastscroll_handle.9.png
pageindicator_fastscroll_panel.9.png

That's the hard way...he need to add a transparent channel in gimp, then erase the color or he need to find a transparent icon and rename it ....
But, i wonder why touch wiz has so many lack of options....
