Reverting to Stock radio, and losing root - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I want to revert back to 100% stock, including radio so I can receive the 2.2 ota update from Verizon, or push it as a update.zip in normal recovery not clockwork. I searched the forums on here and could not find a complete guide, can anyone help me please?

pretty simple. if you want to get the ota be on stock recovery.

So even though i have a 2.05 baseband? on a 2.1 update incredible? How can I get it without manually pushing it to my phone in recovery, I haven't been prompted to upgrade yet.

I was prompted with OTA notification when I reverted back to a 2.1 rom, regardless of the radio I was on.
I went back to stock 2.1 backup, which was running 2.15 radio, etc.
I ran the RUU from 2.2 and it fixed me up.

[Q] Flashing radios, kernels, firmware after unrevoked forever

I've been reading through the forums since the release of unrevoked forever... Flashed it, I'm s-off and running. I was going to hold off until OTA released, but got bored today and decided to mess around with all of this now.
So today I flashed the 2.15 radio that was leaked to the board. After that, I installed SkyRaider 2.5.2 from Clockwork in recovery, which I believe also flashed a new kernel.
My question is... since unrevoked forever and s-off, I can flash between pretty much anything without issue, right?
I found a stock 1.00.03.04.06 radio flash file on here as well. So I restored back to stock 2.1, and then put the 1.00 stock radio on the root of SD card, booted into HBOOT and it flashed back the stock radio.
Is there any issues with doing this? I got excited to be back on Froyo (did this weeks ago with another version of SkyRaider, the leaked OTA, etc... But then went completely back to stock with RUU, re-rooted, etc)... I just want to make sure that doing this isn't going to cause any issues. I would assume at this point, with s-off, it doesn't matter... But, don't want to mess up the phone.
Also - Can someone on stock 2.1 who is also waiting for OTA confirm my versions?
Firmware - 2.1-update1
Baseband - 1.00.03.04.06
Kernel - 2.6.29-cc1c2268, [email protected] #1
Software - 1.22.605.2
I know from the unrevoked wiki they say that running different hboots, radios and kernels might result in an unstable phone.
Thanks.
If I'm reading this correctly it sounds like you bravely accomplished something that everyone has been speculating and wondering about since Forever was released: Downgrading a radio by simply flashing it.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think most were afraid to try it for fear of bricking.
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
Yes I would like to know also, are you saying that while being 2.2 with 2.15 radio you loaded the 1.x radio img and just flashed it in Hboot? Or did you go through the RUU downgrading method?
Haha... I didn't realize I was being brave. I thought I was just following what everyone else did.
My process was.... On 2.1 update 1 with 1.00 radio... I then flashed the 2.15 radio using HBOOT. It started fine, checked and saw 2.1 update 1 with the 2.15 radio. Booted into Clockwork and did an install of SkyRaider 2.5.2. That was running just fine... But I decided that I wanted to go back "stock" and would wait for 2.2 OTA.
So with that, I found the radio and recovery from on http://adrynalyne.us/. That zip contains just the radio image and recovery (radio 1.00). So with that, I did a restore in Clockwork back to my backup of stock 2.1... Shut down after it restored, booted into HBOOT with that zip of 1.00 radio from the adrynalyne website and it restored back to 1.00 radio.
I did not RUU or anything else. My understanding of s-off was that we could flash pieces one at a time without running into issues... That included radio, kernels, etc.
Everything seems to be running just fine from yesterday through today.

So maybe you just made history because I've been trying like hell to get out of someone whether that was possible? From that point you could I guess flash the ota to take you to 2.0 if you wanted? I am not interested in going back to 1.x but maybe 2.0
The following post seems to say the same thing (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=7692494&postcount=190)

here's what i did:
my brother has a DInc as well so he let me use his phone to mount my microSD card. I removed the 2.15 radio and put on the stock one 1.00.03.04.06 back on the root of my microSD. put my microSD back in my phone booted holding down volume and power. installed the downgraded version and phone is working again.

I can't confirm re-installing the leaked OTA that upgrades you to 2.0 radio... But I don't see why it wouldn't work.
I seem to remember a post that warned about constantly flashing radios when s-off first came out though.
I have a new post on the 2.15 radio thread in the development forum for more clarification about going from 2.15 to 1.00, etc.

[Q] HELP PLEASE Return EVO to Stock ROM so I can get OTA update for 2.2

OK,
I used the Simple Root method to unlock my EVO. I'm clueless as to how this benefits me and what to do with the rooted phone now.
Of course Sprint released the OTA 2.2 update just days after I did this and I just want to return my phone the the stock ROM. I've tried several methods and none work. Everything I do leaves me with the Superuser Permissions still on phone and I cannot complete the OTA 2.2 update. I don't want a custom ROM, I just want the stock OTA ROM.
Someone please help with a step by step of how to remove the Clockwork Mod boot system and return my phone to out of box condition so I can get up to date.
Thanks (I hope).
Flashing the stock RUU maybe??!?!?!?! lol
tried that
Yes That would seem logical. I tried that but it doesn't get rid of the boot system which is preventing me from getting the OTA 2.2 update. I want to revert completely.
Admittedly I don't really understand all this rooting business so it does me little good to have my phone rooted.
I can revert my ROM but it doesn't get rid of the clockwork mod boot system and therefore I still cannot complete the OTA update. Every time I try the update it starts to install and then goes to a page with a caution triangle and just freezes there and I have to pull the battery and reboot and I'm at the same place I was before.
I don't understand how to flash a ROM anyhow.
You can download the 3.26.651.6 RUU .exe from this mirror
http://www.mediafire.com/?3z4zbt3vco1ijs7
USB your phone to your computer and run that exe. You will end up with the same stock froyo as the the OTA update will ultimately give you.
If you used the official 1.47 RUU, and it completed properly, then you should be completely stock. It wipes all the partitions and puts you back to stock. You can also look for the stock .6 Froyo rom that's been rooted. I know I've seen it around here somewhere. Grab the one that is Odexed, as it hasn't been tampered with at all except to add SU permissions.

[Q] 2.2 update problems.

Ok I have looked and no one has had my unique problems...
When updated to 2.2 I had my S-OFF but I recently turned it back on and did a full factory reset, which didn't work, trying to fix some update bugs with my ATK. The recovery is CWM and I want stock and it wont let me do a full reset. Any idea's on how i can?
There was a thread around for converting to 2.1 for the update. If that's what you're after. If your after 2.2 then you could try the RUU that was posted here just before the official OTA came out.

[Q] Rooted 2.1 w/ custom ROM to 2.2?

I'm pretty new to all this rooting and ROMs and everything, but at the moment, my dinc is loaded with 2.15 radio/SR2.5 vanillia/S-OFF, but I want to get the OTA update for the official 2.2 android. I don't really understand how to do this, and I'm afraid I might mess something up, so any help please?!

Try it. Read and understand what you are going to do...before you do it. Then ask if you have any questions!
Well I'm able to go back to 2.1 sense, but I still have the 2.15 radio. Can I update from the official update with the new radio, or do I have to downgrade it back to 1.x
You have to go back to the stock radio. That's part of what the OTA is looking for. If you have an upgraded radio, it's going to skip your phone.

[Q] How to set back to factory so I can receive OTAs

A while ago I rooted a friends phone so they could play with custom roms. I used the Unrevoked3 tools to do the root and I believe I did the S-off with Unrevoked forever. She doesn't really want to mess with it anymore and as a result of the root she is stuck on Froyo. What needs to be done in order to get her back to a state where she can recieve the OTA updates?
I'm not sure what prevents the OTA but off the top of my head it could be any or all of these:
Custom Recover
S-Off
Custom Rom
Updated Radio
She is using a Sense Rom currently (I believe Virtuous) as she wanted to make it look as similar to what she was used to before. I'm hoping to prevent wiping it as well if possible. Can anyone tell me what I need to do to get this back to a point where she can get the Gingerbread update and possibly point me to the instructions on how to do it?
This will help you get back to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786436
By doing this she will no longer have root and may not be able to regain root again.
If she wants a stock Gingerbread Rom, just flash the Stock Plus Gingerbread Rom in the dev section. It'd is a lot easier/faster and still have root. Also going back to stock for future updates may be pointless as this phone may no longer get any other updates.

I checked out that thread but it looked old and it was a little confusing. What I really need to know is which component needs to replaced in order to get OTAs. I don't need the phone set to factory. In fact I would prefer to keep the current data in tact. I just need to allow the phone to receive the official gingerbread OTA. If that OTA removes root then that's fine. My friend just doesn't want to have to manually load updates going forward and she doesn't care about root.
Go here and download the Froyo RUU the PB31IMG version http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=22 . Then make sure the file is named PB31IMG and place it on the root of your SD Card boot in to Hboot, let it load and press volume up to accept the install and it'll do it's thing. I'm not sure if this will give you stock recovery, which you need to receive the OTA updates. If it does not get it here http://pvillecomp.com/?page_id=28 and follow the same PB31IMG steps as I mentioned above (Make sure you delete the RUU PB31IMG file first ). Then just wait for the update. I think you can try the Giongerbread RUU as well and you will be good to go but I have never tried that one before.
I would probably just stick with root and get the stock plus rooted rom. The plus features alone are much much better then what the stock offers anyways.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1260994
And if she is still on froyo then I would assume she still has the froyo radio, so don't forget to flash the new gingerbread radio to coincide with the new gingerbread rom you just flashed for her

Of course if you would like to simply revert the phone back to stock with the newest OTA out, simply run this from your computer

Hope this helps....
here ya go...

To receive the ota you need to have the stock recovery, and have all stock apps still installed and enabled. To get to complete stock you need to do an ruu. Either a PB31IMG.zip thru hboot, or the ruu.exe with a pc. However this latest released ota is the final update our phones will ever officialy get, so you dont have to worry about future otas. That being said i would just do as others have sugested and flash one of the stock roms, either wildstangs ota rom or jermaines stock plus. Wildstangs is complete stock, and jermaines is stock with some cool features added. You can find them both in the dev section.
